I just wanted to chime in while we're on the discussion of the practice arena... I've been having this weird feeling for a while since I've heard the term about truths somewhere around here. Compare the practice range loading screen image to what is seen in game. It's apparent that some things just don't add up. For example, the color of the dummys are red in-game but gold in the photo. That isn't a truth it's a lie. Maybe we need to find what is consistent between the game and the loading screen and look there.

I'm new to this, but I think the 'hour, day, month, year' clue isn't to do with time - it's do with nesting.

Just tried a bunch of passwords (don't know what you need to do to be able to add them to the tried password thread), but here's my thought-process - because I'm likely unaware of other commonly used substitutions or 'rules' that have been established, having got to this so late.

Based on what I've seen, there's an evident theme of 'nesting' the clues. The solutions to 2abc and 2def were dervived from 1a, 1b, 1c etc. This theme of taking all of the clues from say, 1a that results in one solution, that combines with others from the same tier to then go on to the next tier is an obvious parallel to the format of the game. Moving up is important - it's all about reaching The Finals.

Tier 1 solutions are parts of the Tier 2 solutions. I think the egg solution is the most elegant, with it's shape, yolk and shell all deriving from the parent form - the egg. So when presented with two question marks that form a single QUEST+ION, I immediately start asking what that question is. I think this established nesting format would suggest where does the GOLD EGG come from? What's higher up the tier list? The obvious answer would be whatever laid the egg - in this case a Golden Goose.

Plenty have already made this same assumption, but it doesn't seem to have gotten anywhere, so here's some more prodding at the concept.

1. The substitution of numbers for letters and roman numerals got me thinking - Goose Latin (similar to Pig Latin) is a method of making up words by adding "lf" after ever vowel and then adding the vowel again after. e.g. The word GOLD transforms into GOLFOD. Not sure I've seen anyone mention this yet, but it's another sub-path to try out with various words.

2. The latin for goose is "anser" - that much has already been pointed out - but the latin for "golden goose" is "anseris aurei" -> anser is aurei -> Answer is 'aurei'? (it isn't - and I've tried a bunch of variations, but maybe someone'll have more luck).

I design puzzles/riddles as part of my job and something about that last point is too good as far as solutions go that I can't imagine someone else passing up on using it if they were aware of it. Heck, if the answer is nothing to do with it I'm considering using it in some future work.

I think the Hamlet = Ophelia = Five Truths might actually be a way to look at the three tiers of this puzzle, not to be taken literally.

For instance Hamlet (the play) contains Ophelia (the character) who was broken down in Five Truths (a video exhibit focusing on the character)

Hamlet = Tier 3
Ophelia = Tier 2
Five Truths = Tier 1

I wrote a rather lengthy meta-analysis about puzzle design, copied it to my clipboard, and then promptly replaced it with that link to Robs message (like a fool) - so to save my fingers - here's the short version:

If I was putting together this puzzle, I'd almost certainly have started at the end and worked my way backwards. Nested puzzles where solutions become clues are just easier to build this way (or at least they are for me), but they rely on a clear path of logic between the levels.

Im not an easter egg hunter, and im not caught up with everything that is happened but I watched a little summary on youtube of the progress you guys are making and I wanted to pop in and give a suggestion on where to look as I think I may have a unique perspective on these clues.

I am a Religion Scholar and alot of the clues so far seem to relate to eastern faith traditions/philosophies. Gold is highly symbolic meaning immortality, "The five truths" are core concepts in Buddhism, and the Hindu tradition has the Hiraṇyagarbha, otherwise known as the Golden egg or Golden Womb. This isnt a story ive studied recently so I dont remember the whole thing but I believe it is a part of their creation story.

Again I could be totally wrong here but I think looking to eastern traditions could help you out. Keep up the good work!

The purpose of a code is to hide the contents, so why would you leave key letters in the correct position, notably the EE which we'd immediately identify as Easter Egg?

I think we were meant to see this, and 'brute force' the meaning behind it, in order to uncover the shift created with the changed letters. We're not working this out backwards, we're working it out as intended.

First noticeable thing then is that we're not shifting any letters to letters. In fact they're all non-alphabet characters and therefore they all have something in common: They share a space with something else on the keyboard.

I think those metadata messages are heavily lore focused. Because there's "This message has been compromised" in the code it's probably been hacked/compromised by some group/organisation. This could be CNS a group/org which has been connected to the central nervous system.

Think we'd have to look for egg related clues in game? There's alot of correlation with "GoldenEgg" atm and I wonder if the real world equivalent of Fabergé eggs could potentially help with the investigation. Many and I mean MANY of those are often entirely or partially gold
