All crystals (and mineral deposits) are pretty much formed the same way - hydrothermal fluid (water that gets heated by the earth) carries dissolved elements in it that precipitate out of solution when the water cools (usually as it nears the Earth's surface). If this happens while the water is moving through large cavities (sometimes associated with fault lines) then you can end up with large crystals forming (or significant ore deposits). You might have heard miners talk about a "gold vein" or similar - this is just an elongate cavity that has had quartz and mineral deposited into it by hydrothermal fluid precipitation. Geodes like the ones above form in round-ish spaces and are often a single mineral being deposited, so they look cool. The gap in the middle is just the space that was never filled in completely.

I watched Rockhounds vid on how to start hunting so I have a gist to how those were found

I do Wonder about the 3rd one tho, seemingly random string of characters?

Okay the 1st one was both a year and an asteroid designation (Aethusa-1064)
The 2nd one referred to both the year 79AD and 1979AD (possibly 2079).. a lot of 79s going round with those clues.. (Roman clues pointed to 79 = LXXIX)
The 3rd one is the electron configuration of Mendelevium.. we had plenty of hints about electrons and the periodic table and Mendeleev himself.
4th one is the cipher O = 0 (given to us in multiple forms) applied to that word which appeared anagramed in Embark's New Year's post
