I've got such a love hate relationship with that game, it's clearly made to be as frustrating to play to try and squeeze money out of players but at the same time there's zero competition out there for now and its the only game with so many vehicles.

I really hope they end up releasing infantry like they teased (almost april's fools we may never know) so the game will change up a bit, like maybe an additional gamemode of every vehicle type in a battlefield/planetside 2 setting

honestlyyy it really doesn't look too scummy w/it from what I've seen, all thats in it right now atleast is a $10 bundle and a couple miscellaneous things that are just a couple dollars each. Theres also different versions for outfits or smaller customizations which are mainly $1-2 to get and it looks like everything but bundles can also be bought with currency earned in game. It's published by kepler too so I really wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't have pressure on them to use the game to suck money from people 💀 So I could definitely seeing it staying that way

they took the first game and made it bad.

Oh god do I have a list.
Before Jeff was “dps Jeff” basically he has the worst heals you’ll ever see so ppl would swim into the enemy back line and distract or kill the enemy healers while also being able to support their own team with some heals.

The kit of dps jeff was

• m1 slow beam that healed team8s
• bubbles that u can shoot that do dmg, u had 6 and they were reload based
• 6 bubbles that applied burst healing
• the ability to swim underground for a small amount of healing.

Current Jeff is

• m1s does both healing and dmg now, both extremely mid.
• m2 has 3 bubbles that are now on a cd but they knock opponents in the air
• has 3 bubbles instead of 6 and they give passive healing after use instead of burst
• the fuckin land shark now has a cd on his land shaking

Basically they took a fun counter/dive pick that was already performing below avg and made it some brainrotted stand in the back and shoot a beam down main hallway character. What’s worse is that bcs it has a good team up with storm now it’s seen a spike in popularity and will probably not be changed for the better

• Your stash can be upgraded with a button (top left corner in da inventory)
• You can scroll inside inventories of dead bodies and other containers (and nobody knew?)

goated weapons for early game:

1. Il Torro
2. torrente (a bit hard to find)

• The rattler needs to be upgraded otherwise has no mag size
• Pistols can be sold for a lot and carried easily
• Snap hook is extremely rare but very helpful
• Most of your good loot will probably come from locked doors, use these damn keys
• You will NEVER have enough ammo, bring a lot, then add more.

But to be fair, after the initial disappointment of the countdown mess, I am glad they’re still working on it and making absolutely sure it’ll be the best version of the game it can be for release, even if it was very easy to let it drop early and ride the hype wave

There's more than this though, there's been a noticeable decrease in graphical fidelity, and lighting has been broken in several places, textures in general have had their fidelity reduced on several maps, LoDs for many objects have been giving a makeover and not for the better, pop ins have become way more common on some levels especially Neon tomb

TBH while it bothered me enough to leave a negative review I didnt consider the censorship that bad, just because I know modders can revert most of the changes given enough time. But I do think some of the changes significantly pull punches that really shouldn't be pulled

Lethal Obsession for example its the 5th mission you encounter, its meant to (from my interpretation) showcase what happens when the wrong man is left to stew in a web of lies and conspiracy theories until they do something crazy, and its meant to showcase how someone can descend into criminal insanity

Suspect's name is Gerard Scott, and in the mission you'll find Scott dressed up in this weird ghillesuit made of tangled brush, chicken wire, and random junk

and they added boxers to that appearance, which is fine, I never knew or noticed that apparently he wasn't wearing anything down below.

Because the point of him looking like that, is to showcase his mind is twisted beyond recognition, and that he is unrecognizable from the man he once was, that he is antisocial, and almost inhuman in a way. I think its also to showcase that anyone or well, lots of people, could end up like him. That he represents a mindset that you always have to be vigilant not to allow yourself to slip into, but that its a mindset anyone can fall into given the right conditions. So by making him appear faceless, it shows the player that Scott isnt the first nore last person to end up this way.

Hello Raiders! We’re back with a community update on the progress we’re making. In a chat with Design Director, Virgil, we discussed the core design pillars (choice & agency, fidelity & depth, and risk & reward) and how they help raise the stakes in ARC Raiders!

ARC Raiders is, at its core, a game about taking risks. Balancing Risk and Reward, or what we call High Stakes, is standard practice in game design, but it finds its peak in the Rust Belt. It’s the cornerstone of our gameplay mechanics, and those high stakes influence everything from the items you bring with you, the noises you make, the fights you pick, and the places you dare to go. The dangers you face, and the choices you make to overcome them, should always feel worth the rewards they yield.

In a session of ARC Raiders, the clearest way we communicate risk is through the map screen. It highlights areas where you can expect to run into a greater ARC threat either through numbers or type, but have high concentrations of valuable loot. Players naturally gravitate toward these hotspots, often leading to encounters with other Raiders.

From data in TT2, we could see that these high-risk areas were doing their job. They drew in more traffic, provided the best loot opportunities, and generated more player collisions. We did find some discrepancies that are being improved on now, like locked rooms that didn’t provide enough value for the rarity of their keys and the difficulty of getting into them. We also saw high-risk areas which had great loot without a matching ARC presence. We’re adjusting ARC spawns to give players a suitable challenge if they get there first.

The data also revealed unexpected hotspots, places we didn’t intend to be frequented by players. We’re investigating what drew players to those areas to find out what made them so interesting. Rather than trying to remove those points of interest, we’re working on applying additional level design to enhance and embellish them as worthwhile areas to play in!

An example of something we utilize when trying to analyze and understand player behavior are heatmaps, like the one pictured below which shows player movement activity in the Dam for the duration of TT2. Tools like these help us determine where the majority of the activity took place and enable us to balance the risk and reward of each area appropriately. This is just one of the ways we can use a heatmap. For example, comparing this to heatmaps of ARC behavior, can help us determine places where the threat is too high or too low. We also maintain heatmaps for spawns, deaths, loot actions, ARC Spawns, ARC Deaths, PvP damage, PvE damage, extraction starts, successes and failures, and so much more. As we continue on our journey toward launch, insights like these are vital in making sure we ship the best possible version of ARC Raiders.
