I’m my stack’s heavy so it’s my job to deal with the heavy on the team we go against. If I don’t take that heavy out I’m doing my job wrong. If that heavy kills my medium I did my job wrong. That heavy winch shouldn’t even be a threat to my light otherwise I did my job wrong

The fact still is that winch is extremely centralising to the point that it's an assumed must pick. It counters every other heavy specialisation so if I bring anything else I'm likely losing to the enemy heavy. If I play as medium or light with a close range weapon I basically can't play until the heavy uses his winch or dies. There's simply no other item in the game which completely denies the useability of so many other items and has no counterplay that doesn't involve you losing a lot of health or positioning to begin with or forces you to play in positioning that is awkward for certain team compositions.

Yes good teamwork counters everything but perhaps winch having a userate of 95% in the high tiers suggests it's not balanced in its current iteration, especially since it's not like old dematerialiser which the other options were just really bad.
