Information 4: The optimal cloaking hiding area

If you're turning corners or hiding near an objective or statue for kills or survival. Make sure to cloak yourself near a flat wall.

Ones that don't have too much contrasting colors,
and ones without protruding objects like cables or lines are the best.

And this includes wall decals and paintings.
Like in kyoto, make sure to avoid cloaking in front of the birds.

But broken walls in bernal is fine.

Dark areas, or single color saturated areas like SYS, or CNS maps are cloaking heaven.
In most areas when standing still in these maps, people will not be able to spot you as long as you're cloaking against a wall.

Nah I'm good. The reason I did the testing is to find out why cloaking is inconsistant sometimes when being spotted and being hidden.

I've fooled ruby and diamond players more times than I can count with cloaks, but randomly I see a level 10 player spot me when cloaking.

So I thought something else was at play, so I took to testing to see what makes it easy to spot, and what fools even ruby players.

Resolution do makes it easier to spot cloaking, but the places I've mentioned is basically undetectable unless you're sitting there doing your best to look for it.

Especially in an actual game, where your enemy would be moving around looking for actual enemyes or have their attention on the cashout or statues or etc. They wouldn't be able to spot you, when it's already hard if they were to focus on finding you only.

Actually, there is an optimal cloaking spot for powershift platforms.

Just don't cloak right next to the line, and more in the middle of the platform between the center and the border and you're fine.

They won't be able to see you unless they crouch as well to see the border aline with your model.

Optimal cloaking -

Do's:

-Always prop yourself against wall when cloaking, so that there isn't any objects behind you.
-Make sure to check if the wall has any decals, lines, or anything protruding, and position yourself accordingly around it.
-Building debris are excellent cloaking spots, due to the haphazard pieces, it actually makes it hard to detect.
-Shurbberies in Kyoto, as well as rock walls in the cellar are optimal spots as well.
-Any single color walls (White/blue/orange/etc) are great with cloaking. The lack of details and high contrasts works well to hide even the slight blur.

But yeah, in conclusion:

Standing still while cloaking, especially when crouching gives you near- complete invisibility. Undetectable even towards ruby and diamond player's eyes.

HOWEVER

You also become extremely easily detectable, depending on where you cloak and what your surrounding environment is.

Good news is, every map and almost every building, rooms, and location has optimal spots, so you just need to keep an eye out mid-game to avoid sabotaging yourself.

Majority of players that use cloaks probably don't take things like this into account, and end up becoming easily spotted right away.

That I don't know, but I'm pretty sure the vfx isn't a physical entity that cloak reacts with.

What I DO know however, is that I would never use the smoke vfx in ranked or world tours.

Because I don't know if it's a visual bug or whatever it is, the smoke makes it waaaay easier to spot you in fog and smokes in game. And in a lot of occasions where I shouldn't be able to see you, I can spot you due to your smoke being clear black and obvious
