It's not crashing, it's cheating and hacking; they can also DDoS you through the multiplayer, though that's only really an issue for streamers
The campaign coop netcode is awful because it's input-based, there's a serious delay between you actually pressing a button and it being registered. It's playable if you both live relatively nearby
