Hi, I have issue using KupoBot. for various reasons, there are two characters by the same name on my server (probably caused by a transferred character that was abandoned). when I try to register myself using KupoBot, it always finds the ghost and I can't verify myself. is there a way around it?

Your lodestone ID is the numbers at the end of URL when you look at your character on the lodestone

yeah, this. there's a huge number of people who go into #questions-and-help thinking it's a recruiting channel. at the very least there should be either a pin or something in kupo's message about it, and how people should either try the recruitment channel for their DC or use PF in game. Alternatively change the name of the channel to just like.... questions or something? idk. It's annoying sometimes because people occasionally try to argue about it and drown out other legitimate questions.

Also I think kupo's message in there should be reworded. It suggests kinda that it's a channel only for new or returning players to ask questions in, and not others.

I really hope y'all do something about this, as come EW the #questions-and-help will undoubtedly become more active and these could become more annoying problems.

Another thing to ask, but when EW arrives can y'all set up a thread under #archived-lore-spoilers to discuss it instead of making that channel the spoiler zone? Many people go in there not fully understanding what it is and not knowing how to access the #beginner-lounge threads so it could lead to a lot of spoiling otherwise.

Might be an overreach here, why not ask for a few mods specifically to moderate the VCs during the launch, if nothing else I don't mind pinging the mods where needed, I'm normally in VC when I'm playing the game, which sadly is maybe too much when expansions come out.

Just an idea that might allow it to be kept open, I know a lot of people like to discuss the game there, also tend to ask questions or look for clarifications on things.

Because the mods are going to be playing the game and VC has been a bit of a handful for us even without the new expansion. It wouldn’t be fair to have some mods babysitting VC and other mods getting to play the game without VC pulling them away

VC moderation is more attention-demanding and requires more time than text moderation does. It’s just not something we want to deal with while also running the server during a launch that is bound to be a huge activity boom with just text stuff while also just playing Endwalker ourselves

I'm not sure how feasible it would be, but it would be nice to have a channel dedicated to making groups to clear some of the less popular raids (i.e. Savage content) because duty and party finder both, in my experience, have been nightmarish to try and get into. Maybe even some sort of carry role, or coop role, so people looking to clear it for loot or even just glamours can do so more efficiently (since the actual raid doesn't take long, it's just finding a group to do it that has been a nuisance, at least for me)

In the future might be a good idea to change the Lore Spoilers channel name to reflect the fact that it's not for spoilers from the current expac, assuming this split continues. Obviously entering a channel named that during launch is sort of a risk, but if we're splitting things up anyway it seems like a good idea to make that as clear as possible. As it is now it seems like a lot of people miss the existence of the 6.0 discussion channel (or think it's purely for gameplay), don't see the threads (because Discord does a really poor job of highlighting ongoing threads for newcomers), and have to be told of their existence after posting something spoilery. I get that this is a problem that could be solved by people reading channel descriptions, but unfortunately, like... Nobody does that.

What does Endwalker job balance look like now?

We cannot meaningfully discuss or draw major conclusions about Endwalker job balance for a number of reasons:

1. The current sample size of recorded runs is too small to eliminate RNG. Even in the data we do have, there is too much variance in player skill, rotations, party composition, and killtime to be able to make any conclusions.

2. The currently available gear is too limited/inconsistent, and future gear’s mainstat/substat distribution may affect balance.

3. Patch 6.05 will likely hold extensive job changes, just like 5.05 did (see: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/b6083dbda4e9497698b64163ffc8cee52472b81a)

4. While basic rotations have been theorycrafted and simulated, optimal rotations are dependent on encounter and party makeup. Fight design, job synergies, and yet-to-be-discovered niche optimizations are all things that can influence job balance.

5. Preliminary data is often misinterpreted and spread, causing more harm than good.

Job balance is better left for approximately 1 month after Savage release, since there are more recorded runs, better gearing options + BiS sets, and fight designs are known.

Any current definite claims about job balance are at worst clickbait or pure speculation, and at best educated guesstimates that are subject to change as available information changes.

Hey so just a slight correction for the Radio Mog Station translation:
YoshiP said that the adjustments for SAM cut it so close that they didn't have enough debug time to adjust the cast range, so that change ended up going out in 6.05, which caused the players to think "what's with this adjustment, are you just telling us to cast no matter what?" He clarifies that wasn't the intent of that change, but that it was a change they had originally meant to implement but didn't have time for launch, and they'll be making more adjustments going forward.

I'm assuming it's related to the feedback people had with SAM at launch and that the 6.05 change seemed like it was just pushing the idea of SAM casting a lot, when in actuality they just didn't have time to implement it by 6.0 so it came out in 6.05.

So basically it wasn't any issue with the devs getting cast range confused with cast time

You can play on any world on any datacenter within FFXIV. Aside from the languages spoken, the physical location of the servers, and the status of each world, there are no major differences. This also means population on a given server is quite meaningless.

The majority of content is cross-world, with the exception of Free Companies, Linkshells, and restrictions when visiting other worlds.

If you don't mind where you play, choose a world that is Preferred or New for character creation bonuses. Check world status by using !status <world name> or via the Lodestone. For information about the status types, use !faq worldtype in #kupo-bot-spam.

It's not entirely something that can be helped. With the fact that you have mods, and Admins on different schedules and priorities outside of this discord. An hour is a far cry from what I would assume is necessary from letting them know what's going on.

Exactly. If people are upset that they're not being catered to immediately, then it seems like a them issue. Especially considering the severity of some tickets that get sent in. Some may take longer than others; also considering the amount that get brought in.

Even when moderators do not seem active, my tickets take max half an hour to have a response, haven’t had anything to complain, since the hot already acknowledged that the modmail was successfully created and the mod team received the message

In the case a modmail is missed I tend to check them over once a day or so and ping the mods to finish up the ticket.

So super appreciative of the live translations here, but I would absolutely LOVE if there was a way for me to host them in my server as well. I followed the channel in my FC Discord but I think with follows there has to be @_heres or @spark sailveryones for them to show up in the other channel. Just in case you're looking for some kind of solution that's not manual: I'm a mod over at WorldAnvil. For previous bot raids, we've used YAGPDB to combat the raids - since these bots are using the same sort of usernames, you should be able to set up a basic rule for "Nickname word blacklist" (or the regex equivalent) on that. I've not used Kupobot, I don't know if it's got something similar. Good luck, we're setting up precautions based on what you're facing here 🙏

Could I suggest in the meantime to prevent the server from going ape 💩 that a temporary mute is put on all non-mods and then that way people will need to read the announcements so they're aware of the situation and calm down with this bot spam? I literally have had the messages and just blocked and reported it via discord immediately (I literally was going to bed and saw the bot bombings)

We have a feature similar to that implemented in Kupo bot, the issue comes from Kupo getting overloaded from banning hundreds of bots a minute, plus all the modmails being opened at once

Are you going to do anything ever other than complain about the moderation? Off topic happens occasionally. FFXIV is not a technically complex game and sometimes there just isn’t much people want to talk about. If you have questions or need help the new player and questions and help channels are strictly moderated by mentors and serve that purpose fine. Otherwise if you interject something actually relevant into the ffxiv channels often times the conversation will drift back to ffxiv.

'Which world should I pick?'

You can play on any world on any datacenter within FFXIV. Aside from the languages spoken, the physical location of the servers, and the status of each world, there are no major differences. This also means population on a given server is quite meaningless.

The majority of content is cross-world, with the exception of Free Companies, Linkshells, and restrictions when visiting other worlds.

If you don't mind where you play, choose a world that is Preferred or New for character creation bonuses. Check world status by using !status <world name> or via the Lodestone. For information about the status types, use !faq worldtype in #kupo-bot-spam.

Nah. It'll still likely have a fairly high community for said people, since not everyone is or will be interested in jumping data-centers and leaving their current communities. Seems fine.

I wouldn't agress because there's a huge chunk of Oceanic players on Tonberry (less so Kujata now actually, Kujata player here). Materia mostly benefits AUS players since the ping on SEA to Materia doesn't change much, so alot them just stay on JP
