At the X5 levels (55, 65, 75, 85) you should start replacing pieces with dungeon gear, as that will be better than the tomestone gear.

Black Mage is going to feel really bizarre as you're leveling it, fair warning. It's a really fun class (imo), but because of the oddball way its kit progresses, the way you play it when leveling changes constantly—to the point that we have a dedicated faq for it specifically.
It'll feel all right when you hit 50, but when you hit 60 is when everything finally clicks into place.
