At the moment, I don't try to throw weapons as much as I'm using a controller, so, throwing weapons require more careful aiming.

Headshots is one of the most satisfying experiences when playing with polearms but it's a good weapon even if you only use it as melee. Just to clarify, not all attacks are fast, but the piercing ones make things better

The best is gath, but it's tough to farm, I'd recommend starting with vasp so you can have an easy one and begin leveling it while you farm the others (and duhk takes no farming you just grab all the world trees)

you'll need to rank them all eventually to have max envoy rank anyway

plus some locations can be really deceptive with how far out they spawn - Kairness is a frequent troublemaker

If it's not despawned due to a bug, AFAIK bosses have a 30-minute cooldown after a kill.

The only time you'd get multiple Vadagar bosses is if you get a tale that needs you to kill a Vadagar boss.

If you're using Dewelion, why not use Oro's Ranger prism? Or go for the extreme Grace one (I don't have that yet so I forgot what it's called) and use the +6 Spirit talisman?

Check your armor stats--not just total armor rating--always. Armor ratings may go up, but if you keep getting hit, you might as well make sure you can take the damage and not tumble off.

Tethren's good if you're thinking of self-buffs than crowd control.
Oscelda's for party heals and crowd control.

Honestly the game's small enough at the moment that as long as you remember to dodge and parry you'd be fine.

It's just more complicated once the joineries and the weaponskill builds come in.

Especially for weapon types that don't have much weapons yet, such as Greatsword and SNS.

Other than the effect they have on weapon and armor, Virtue also scale the related Arcanic (the abilities), and an additional effect:
Courage: Improves HP.
Spirit: Reduces Arcanics cooldown.
Grace: Improves stealth bonuses and headshots.

Before the prisms we just got given points to distribute, and well, Courage was the only thing worth building into besides hitting minimum requirements for a weapon, because Courage also affected weapon attack strength outright

They did, it's already better, a selection of weapons was made much easier to meet the requirements of and Pact Virtues were buffed to make meeting requirements easier as well

Cool, tell me what happens if you're using say a Courage/Spirit hybrid, but want to use Avex, and don't have the Grace? Sounds like an arbitrary lock because you won't have the attunement for it

Yes, because this is a deliberately bad choice, if you actually want to use a Courage/Spirit build and use a bow you'd probably go for Maestro or Juniper instead, but you can still meet the scaling threshold and do good damage

While the Prism acquisition is still not optimal, the system itself is in a good enough place even now imo, even if I have some issues with it myself.

If I had to actually point at the real current pain points with the Virtue system for weapons it'd be Greatswords and Staves, which especially for new players do pigeonhole you into Spirit and Courage respectively

That and the UI for weapons generally being quite unclear as to what is actually getting you damage, which isn't a new problem but is certainly made more glaring now

hi! I'm a new player messing around with looking at starts related to a new pact I just finished building. I'm messing around with virtue prisms, and there's something I can't really track down.

Near as I can tell, the basic 3 virtue prisms offer a base 8 in their associated virtue, and a base 6 in their other two. So with my starting +1 courage talisman, if I've unequipped all of my pact-based virtue increases, I should have a total of 9 courage, 6 spirit, and 6 grace.

But, I seem to actually have 11 courage, and I can't seem to track down why I have these extra two points. Would anyone know how to find this info?

The Tormented Stag is the third and final tutorial fable. But you should probably get your pacts and weapons ranked up a bit for that.

You'll also wanna do Steelsigner and Brewer of Hues. That will leave Sheswolf Snared, Waste Bear, and the new mini-quests. Those can be done in whichever order.

Each pact has artes that will be helpful. Some passives you can do without. It depends on the pact, usually. The wyld pacts have just enough artes points when combined with their non-wyld counterparts to max out the artes tree completely. You may want ot invest in unlocking and maxing the Sympathy node in every pact, as at 2 nodes, it's a full heal on smite.

For Orengall, you might wanna focus on Feral and less so on the other passive, for example.

It's when you hit the enemy and they glow. You smite them ot rip out the glow, which can then heal you (with the arte node I mentined), activete Runes (if you have one equipped to your current weapon when smiting), damage the enemy further (vaporize them if it kills them), and recharge the same colored ability a bit.

Ok. So for that one, you can focus more on the smite stuff an the nodes that boost your virtues, before worrying about the passives and extra healing boost and rooted.

You'll want more sprit first, so your abilities recharge faster. Vernal pool is handy, as well, but it can wait till you have wyld and regular leveled. You'll want more virtues before you get to gameplay where you really need vernal pool.

Definitely more co-op than MMO yeah, it's an MMO the way Warframe or maybe Helldivers is, online chat and social spaces but actual gameplay is done in squads of 3

There's been some vague plans for some more player interactivity like seeing other players "souls" in the overworld, but nothing implemented yet

you need to level up your Envoy (account/mastery level), do this by leveling up weapons and pacts to rank 30

there's also a couple quests that give +1 to a virtue you can choose iirc

you can also get up to 6 total virtue points per virtue, from the pacts upgrade trees

there are also talismans that give virtue points

Virtue is a derived stat, you can raise it by raising MR, and you can change the distribution by switching Prism (sold by Factions).
You can also put point into the Virtue Arts in the Pact upgrade screen, or try to get a better Talisman.

Exiting the Eternium Gardens also places you near the Enclaves, which can be useful.

and just to add to this, if you go into an Enclave then logout after you did your thing there, it will actually teleport you back to where you were before you entered the Eternum Gardens such as all the way up north, quick way to go level up your Enclave and be back for more tales, etc..
