Re: The first story boss.
This morning I attempted to beat him as a new player with a lvl 8 weapon and half my pact tree. It was miserable as the boss took almost no damage even with heavy attacks.

Just now I grinded a bit and returned with a lvl 11 weapon and all of my pact tree unlocked. He went down with no issues, didn’t feel overtuned at all.

I did not rush to this boss when I did my first attempt and simply followed the path laid out to me by the game, even got sidetracked a few times.

They should probably add an extra dungeon, enemy camp or similar along the way to ensure that new players arrive with an appropriately levelled weapon.

It is not just skins, Wyld Pact is a special version of the Pact that can double up on talent points (will be earnable in-game in the future), and armor is functional, if not the best in the game.
But yeah, you are not limited by that stuff.

Though keep in mind that there are more than those three Pacts.
You'll not necessarily main one of those.

You don't level directly, you can level by leveling Weapons and Pacts, finding Motes, and healing World Trees.
Similar to Warframe if you played that.

If you are doing that and the level still doesn't go up, try relogging, and failing that, yes it is a bug.

Fellow founders is it just me or is the founder sword kinda bad? Like it’s not unusable but it’s probably only as good as a weapon with a tier 2 stat scaling and since the scaling is all 3 I feel like there’s no good secondaries with it.

It feels slow which is fine since it’s a greatsword but the amount of damage feels pretty low with being constantly locked into animations for every swing.

If you don't have trouble throwing yourself at those enemies, yes.
Otherwise work up to it.
Glades sometimes has an endless room (big arena with a deer statue at the center of it that can be interacted with), that is most likely the best way to level, if it spawns.
