I know i am learining know thats i want to know what it helps with and what dose?!?
So running man nmap will quite literally tell you everything you need
🔥
Man one think is better to have nmap install as a window or in kali linux?
entirely up to you
Uhmm hey first time chatting here just I got windows 11pro and I wanna change to Linux pop os but I’ve downloaded and transferred it to a usd drive but the booting isn’t work ing may I request help
(and whether you intend to use NSE)
Becose i did both so in nmap i dont know what to do but in kali linux idk but i learn kali linux and it helps a bit becose i know it
I think this way
Did I just have a stroke? You just said you don't know and in another sentence you're saying you know???
Hahahahahahahahahaha yeah but still i am learining about nmap right know
Trying using software that will make your usb bootable with the downloaded Linux os
Can I get some examples
Try Rufus it’s good software
It’s a downloadable software
Thank you again dude
Do NOT use rufus..
Why not ?
Go to the linux distro website, look for their documentation, follow those
rufus regularly breaks installation medium which follow a certain din iso format, which most of them do
those distro projects write guides on how to install them for a reason
I used rufus and Balena Etcher but they didn’t work
Again.. "look for the installation guide of that distro" .. not some youtube video, not chatgpt.. the actually written documentation of the project
Hey yall, I'm about to start IT school to get my CompTIA Tech+ and A+ certs, and I'm trying to shoot for a networking job after IT school and then going into cybersecurity. I'm learning Linux (playing wargames, watching tutorials), Python, and learning networking theory (watching David Bombal's free CCNA course on YouTube), and planning on making a Plex server to replace streaming & cloud subscriptions, and practice creating different user accounts with different privileges. Is there anything you'd suggest focusing on or learning now, starter projects, or something you'd do differently? Any advice is much appreciated 🙏
I too need a mentor, who can teach some stuff that can work with my kind of device
generally people aren't going to sign on to mentor randos on the internet
if you want a mentor build real relationships with people first
Yeah but could never find a consiste person orPlaylist @scarlet thicket
@scarlet thicket ok thank you bro
Can I do try hack me on my phone?
Long story short - probably not. And you wouldn't want to.
@whole patio ok
i have a question when it comes to tools for testing...do you need to run linux for most of the tools ? sorry i am new to this
most of them yes. But there are a few good ones for windows
Sooner or later - yes
okies so most tools are not all windows based
not strictly no, i know a guy that does most of his work from windows. linux is just easier in most cases though
Windows is fine but you'd probably need a VM of linux
no need to break your head with making tools work on Windows
makes sense cause you can dual boot
I wouldn't recommend dual boot tho 😛
oh ?
Seriously I just want to learn what can make me earn and I've got no idea 💡😞
It's just not very convinient
remind me what VM is
imagine turning your pc off every time you want to switch OS
nows not a great time to get into security if you're just looking for money
Just an app that can run an OS virtually basically
yea yea i just remembered lol
so kali is the go to now
To run on the VM yeah
okies
At last when you start
least*
after that you can figure out what distro you like the most
okies
kali just has a bunch of tools preinstalled, nothing special about it otherwise
oh ok
Any other recommendations?
Find something you're passionate about and work with it
for what?
You said "nows not a great time to get into security if you're just looking for money" I'm asking for other recommendations
no idea, i work in security
maybe ai if you get in before the bubble pops
figure out what kind of things you're good at and enjoy, then look for jobs related
see if jobs you want ask for those certs
I wanna learn how to hack and track anny tips on how to start
then nah wouldn't recommend doing the actual certs as they have 2yr renewals iirc
if you want to learn the material can just pick up books
unless colleges care about that, idk
it's my job 🤷♂️
W
there's no one roadmap, what you need to learn depends on what you want to do
starting out honestly best thing to do is find a topic that excites you and dive into it
im kinda lost about cybersec, i know a little about networks and another things, and im learning to program, i want to become a red teamer but dk where to go
can you give me some tips too?
thm
that`s dope
i already did it to the end of the free plan
its pretty cool tbh
is it worth it?
fr
100&
percent
thm is like the training wheels of a bike
pick a particular attack and dive into learning how it specifically works. when you hit something you don't understand, do a sidequest on that
ooh..
gonna see the site better
i didn't really take a typical path into red teaming so not sure i have good career advice there
like.. on the content?
hi
thm and htb are fine starting out. tbh main advice is still find something specific that piques your interest and dive into that. could be coding, networks, web, cloud, detections, malware, about anything
for offsec building a good mindset is, imo, more important than learning tools
try to start thinking in terms of "how could i break / bypass this?", even in everyday life
What's that pls ?
.
virtual machine
anyone have like a wishlist of cyber/pentest gift ideas for Christmas my family keeps asking and ive been getting more into this tech stuff but idk what to get lol
check out hak5
also covert companion pro, flipper zero
Okay, thanks. How do i get that ? Sorry to bother you, really.
thank you man, also for the lockpicking im learning a lot about cybersec where did you learn lockpicking im assuming just youtube?
most distros have instructions e.g. https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/how-to-run-ubuntu-desktop-on-a-virtual-machine-using-virtualbox#1-overview
no idea tbh i learned basics like ~20yrs ago
not that great at it, only done up to like orange or green belt locks
thanks
i started my cyber journey last month and ive learned so much but it feels like I know absolutely nothing 😂
that never goes away lol, i do it professionally now and still feel like a perma-noob
@pallid wasp what's your issue?? We're willing to answer your questions
I was replying to the announcement …. I dont have a question righf now at this very moment
no worries
please ask here if you have a question
you can also ask the mods or other members of high rank or roles
since they don't mess around like others
their tone may be sarcastic sometimes but they won't make fun of you
Who can help me....personally
Yoooo...I don't know, nothing
And I agree with Rukn I am just like him jz could anybody coach as personally
@scarlet thicket a whatsapp account
@scarlet thicket could you receive my friend request
Anyone in the automotive cybersecurity field? Looking to get into it but dont know where to start lol
Guys can anyone help me get started? I have no programming skills and no prior experience have just a laptop
Should I just get started or do I need to learn a programming language first?
which one you suggest
oh thanks :))
You need to know networking as well
can i ping you if i need help in future
So I'd suggest network+ from professor messer
oh and from where i can learn them
I want to ask, which linux dis is good for gaming? i was thinking about archlinux but i think you cant play some games
ah okok
It's gonna be hard to game on Linux
Unfortunately
I know
but i like some linux features
and i want to wipe all my data of windows because i am getting blue screens
I see
Well idk which distro would help with gaming
SteamOS is Linux based so until that comes out for PC idk which one you should pick
No prob
Hi everyone! I’m doing pwn.college right now and was wondering what’s your opinion on it? Is it worth doing ? I mean, it’s free and quite interesting to go through, although have to look up a lot. I have some knowledge but still very amateur
i was reading a reddit post about the cybersecurity career in that there was a comments which says In order to penetrate a system, you first must be able to protect it, which comes with experience (Helpdesk, Labs, Good Mentorship, and ultimately drive). You can do all the labs and research all the online resources you want to, but it will never prepare you like actual job experience will.
Hi everyone..just joined the community and loving it so far. I used to do a lot of CTF in 2023 and was enjoying learning a lot, but I stopped doing it for a while in order to explore other domains of tech. I'm trying to get back but now everything is quite overwhelming, I really want to continue and learn but I feel stuck. Recently started doing bug bounty but again facing the same issue.. Can you suggest something that would help me get back in the groove please ??
Hey I been in the information chat, and the Dev series aint loading. I have been trying to join. I been looking for the best course to start with that weas suppose to be free. Any suggestions I should I should follow.
https://bazzite.gg/ no idea if this is good, just heard about it other day
1st part isn't really true tbh
probably the majority of stuff i've hacked i didn't know anything at all about beforehand
actually 2nd part isn't true either. plenty of teenagers out there popping stuff when they've never had a job before
blue team cope 🤷♂️
Programming
Cybersecurity in general is a branch off IT. So what they are saying makes sense, where if you don't understand networking, computer management, or any of that stuff, its going to make understanding the advanced stuff harder.
Think about it like learning to surfboard without learning how to swim. Possible? Sure.
@everyone have anyone completed the Advent of cyber THM side quest 1
i found the first flag but to find the password for login is getting difficult, in reddit and X everyone talks about OSINT and Fakbook i didn't get what it mean't can anyone give me hint or an idea on that part
it would be great help
hi

Hi
Hey guys
Pls does anyone know any resources where to learn the depths of cryptography and steganography?
I'm not staff or anything but maybe like coursera or something
i did a coursera cryptography course way back and it was pretty good
Hi guys,
I’ve been working at a support desk for over 2 years and I’m looking to transition into a Security Engineer role. Does anyone have recommendations for certifications that could help me land this job?

lol idk how to do the link but check those out my man
Did they teach more of real practicals
Thanks appreciate it!
They recommended me Ubuntu gamepack but they say that got some fails and bug
find ads for jobs you want, see what certs they ask for
security engineer is pretty broad
iirc more theory focused, actually learning the math behind it
fair point, thanks for the tip 🙂
Hi can someone give me or help me to find some defensive and offensive mid/advanced networking hacking techniques/ressources please ?
thanks in advance
Hi guys, Can someone help me with the modules
Ahh hello everyone, don't know where to ask this question just saw help-me and it felt like i should ask here 😅
I joined an internship for SOC. We are using wazuh. Our task was to detect network scanning attempts done against our servers. How can I look for this activity.
Basically I think huge spike in Accessed ports by a single ip in a short amount of time suggests network scanning but I would really love your opinion
I know this is a defense thing but you know something like ways attackers can gain entry into the system and so i wanted to collect multiple views so i can better defend the systems.
There was a US based jobs website specifically for SOC Analyst jobs of all sorts, on-site, hybrid and remote - but I can't seem to find the link again. It was partnered with some cybersecurity company, but I can't recall that either. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about, and help me back into it?
no
Congrats! I am just about to start learning Wazuh
really
Got started on the ELK stack though
No idea 😶
Nice! The ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana) is a powerful set of tools for search, logging, and analytics
Quite the process! Just using free resources at the moment
I’m a first year computer science student trying to figure out my direction. I think I’m attracted to csec but I’m not sure. Is there a good way to figure that out? I’m too early into my studies to have found my passion. They’re educating me to be a software engineer, so I’ve been taught python and now c#, algorithms etc
okay am a senior high student trying to figure the basics of hacking
Learn all of it! It becomes much useful later. Depending on what you like in core CS, you can pivot into cybersec specific to that field. For example, if you like web applications, you can get into web application pentesting with burpsuite and free portswigger tutoirals. If you like the network part of the OSI stack, you can get into network security!
Python is excellent for learning malware development if you want to go the red team path!
C is also the best
I’m soon starting security in machine learning courses that really interest me. I find myself very interested in that
There is AI security too, I am not knoweldgeable there though! Research and see what comes up
Yeah I will, appreciate it. So just learn learn learn and see what sticks?
yh thats true
Start with CompTIA A+ tutorials on YouTube, and then CompTIA Network+, and then CompTIA Security+. Make an account on tryhackme.com at the same time! And try the labs.
Literally this, if I got a chance to go to uni, I would have loved to do just this!
yh that where time resides and zeal too
True!
I have messaged you, please check your DMs
did you DM me
Hi, I’m planning to create a vpn using my raspberry pi, but I’m wondering how to start, and overall, wheat her to use Docker containers or what.
how to get started and whether to use Docker containers.
Guys can anyone help me get started? I have little knowledge on programming and networking. Where can I start..?
dm me
copy that
Why are you asking people to DM you.
@full delta @tardy kiln
Please be cautious of suspicious DMs.
Any information that is legit can be available on this server out in the public, or with free resources online.
Oh, he's working as a SOC Analyst, and I am in training to be one. Thought I could learn insights from him, one that could not be found in tutorials. Thank you for the concern, it is generally not safe to do so.
Not stephen, Ali
If he puts the information here in chat, then other SOC Analysts can vett what is being said. If its in the private of DMs, then who knows what is being said, or if it is accurate.
I see your point.
i just wanted to put him through on something
On what specifically?
i also get
Who is the best official person to ask about SOC related stuff? I could use some help.
Learning Basic Networking Concepts
What resources are available for that? We usually recommend something like a cisco netacad + packet tracer, but my preference is for throwing up Linux + BSD gateways/DHCP Servers + DNS Servers as VMs, and using a linux/BSD bridge as a "switch" and learning about the services that way.
Depends on what the question is I guess. There are a bunch of people here in different timezones who have come from different backgrounds, so just posting the question instead of waiting for the "right person to ask" will generally give you more answers.
Right, so that is exactly what I did.
ok so what are you any way
Now the wait begins. Haha!
Keep in mind that "getting a job" is a different skillset altogether than the skillset for being an Analyst.
One of the moderators, I believe, hence the tone.
We just get suspicious of people who want others to come into the white van of direct messages, where there are no additional eyes on them to see whether they are told nonsense or are getting scammed
I'm aware.
Naturally a public forum like this server has its fair share of scammers
i know its part of the cyber security process
right
so any one on a remote job am open to freelance
People ask this all the time on this server, and the answer so far has always been "You should look elsewhere"
ok linkedin
Probably a better idea, let headhunters do the job for you 😉
My former boss made me use linkedin to "generate leads" and I despise the platform deeply, but I get job offers regularly
but are you still in
The account still exists, I dont really use it anymore
no, wrong server
Hmm
Anyone have a good "planner" that youve used to help track growth and stay on task (especially with certs)
You can use notion
I use notion currently. Do you have a good template for it?

You can also use clickup

Hmm
How does this one work
should i use ubuntu Linux or kali Linux for beginning to learn cyber security im trying to go into bug bounties
I prefer kali linux due to having the tools preinstalled but I don't use it as a host os
I would recommend using kali on a vm or making a live boot usb with it on
okay thank you im goint to install a vm with kali preinstalled then
hi everyone am new hear on discord and i want to learn something
please can i get some advises and what to do and start
Hi everyone !!
I train on common platesfomrs like THM or Root-Me since 6/7month, But I'd like to get into "physical" hacking. I've already done some small projects like an evil portal, an RFID badge copier, and a WPA2 handshake collector, but I'd like to centralize all of that in a kind of "cyberdeck." I have a Raspberry Pi 5. Could someone help me figure out the rest of the hardware? I'm having trouble figuring out which screen to get, and the same goes for the battery, etc.! I don't know much about electronics 😅
Anything wifi related has next to no real world relevance, really.. I wouldn't concentrate on that part too much.
copying or forging access pass, rfid, a bit of lock circumvention maybe
Yeah, I'm in there too haha, I didn't express myself well, my English isn't great. But I thought that centralizing all these little projects in a cyberdeck would be an interesting project in itself! (And a well-configured capture portal can give one or more nice entry points to a domain, for example, but you need to go there in person, that's what I didn't mean by 'physical' 😅 )
My apologies
Hey everyone!
I'm currently starting my journey in ethical hacking and I'm looking for somewhere to learn Linux and Bash for a start. Can anyone help me?
hey guys im current doin eighteen machine in htb and rn im stck in admin hash pkdf2....idk wat to do nxt???can someone help me??
Tryhackme has rooms and modules for this
Same with hackthebox

Hi, I’m a security researcher working on a Web3 protocol issue and I’m looking for an independent technical sanity check before making any public disclosure.
I privately reported a vulnerability, it was denied, and I later observed verifiable on-chain behavior changes that prevent the exact execution path I demonstrated. I have mainnet-fork repros, logs, and pre/post behavior differences.
I’m not looking for advocacy or drama, just an experienced second set of eyes to confirm whether the technical facts line up before I publish anything. Happy to share minimal repro details privately if you’re open to it.
Hi
Man am so ded
Next question: how to rebuild bcd
@magic token
in your cli
diskpart
then
list disk
once it listed just select your original drive then list partition in your cli then exit to fix the bcd
type these in your cli one by one
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
from where
Type cmd at bottom of laptop in the little search bar
Nop
?
I'm tryna find cmd on the thing
I don't see my account
It's showing my other one
it's perfect.
perfect cell
thank you fam'
What password bruh I didn't put any password why does the cmd have a password
I don't understand the exit part
@distant gulch
exit the cli
Like close?
Btw the cmd on the recovery thing has a password but I don't have a password, why is that?
So will doing this in the win 10 partition 2 be ok?
you realize that we can't read your mind nor see your screen, right?
I have a migraine

How can I Check If someone have Access to my Phone (Android)
anything suspicious new file downloaded, random clicking, installed apps without your knowledge, any logins from unfamiliar places.?
No but Connection lost every 10 min for one second only wegen I watch Videos like darkweb
Wdym on your phone watch dark web videos
I’ve never explored that stuff I’m new to all this maybe a month in lol, @steady palm sorry to bother again lol do you have any info on this
Security Check says everyting ist fine but I dont trust
I personally don’t use android, and if you have security check and what not some stuff I’ve learned can still bypass those
In short stay off the darkweb till you can navigate it safely and know more
Thanks for the help
Why do people sometimes put an & at the end of their Linux commands?
People put an & (ampersand) at the end of a Linux command to run it in the background, allowing the terminal to remain free for other commands immediately, without waiting for the first one to finish, which is great for long-running tasks like file transfers or starting servers. It's distinct from && (double ampersand), which chains commands to run only if the previous one succeeds.
adding a single & at the end of your command gives your your interactive session back to do other stuff
Oh ok thank you
Thats part of tryhackme 101, you should do that
Is it free?
Most of it is yes
Hey bro did he solve it?
Solve what?
This @steady palm
I wasn’t talking about me on dark web I’m too beginner for that but he’s asking about that and his phone being hacked
Hiii
Can you help me
Am using termux to learn
Coding and stuff frist before moving to linux
Termux the phone app?
Yes
do you not have access to a laptop or computer?
Not really duo
you should probably include what you want help with
But i wanna buy one later
I mean watch YouTube and learn if you don’t have actual access to Linux and what not for now until you can
you can also ofc look up things, read and learn
Oooh
Okay thanks so much bro
Nah your good bro just hard to use something without access best of luck to you
Yeah
And wen i get a laptop i will let you know bro
Ping me whenever you planning on getting one for Christmas or something?
Yeah i will
Thanks again

Hey , Can Someone Help me Master Python… Im intermediate in it but i think im overthinking it & I Just recently failed my python college class due incompletion & Failed Tests … May I Get Some Aid!!!
Someone is trying to phish me.
what do you struggle with exactly?
Harvard cs50 introduction to python is a real good starter
Knowing Which Libraries to call on in iffy on , Def , Control Flow , File I/O , OOP … & I Dont want To be A.I. Dependent as I Feel as Real Hacker Shouldn’t be using it as a crutch only a tool
I Kind of Got it but im Just Not Confident yet to the Point where I could start my Ctf’s & Bug Bountys
use ai for learning, not final product.
e.g. tell it you want to work on one of those areas, have it give you a partial script where you need to fill in the missing part
Any More Suggestions with it to Learn Brother?
& May You send me a Example of a Prompt to Send to it to Get An Accurate Result
Learning with AI has the lowest knowledge retention rate.. would not touch it during your learning phase if at all possible
mimi agrees
just tried it on claude with this:
"i am learning python and am currently struggling with file i/o operations. you are going to help me improve my knowledge in this area. produce a short python script with an empty section where i will fill in the code needed for file i/o. include a comment specifying what the functionality should be.
aim for a beginner level initially. when i provide you with the filled in code, you will evaluate it, identify any issues, and suggest where i should focus on improving. then you will produce another script with slightly more difficult code to fill in, and we will continue iterating in this process."
The problem of mine that I have no access to chat
she would add on that it’s fake slop
i've found it pretty useful. i learn better by asking questions vs just reading through material
Thank You Brother
Ya its The Akt of Doing Vs Reading it’s Ok To be informed about the topic but if its not applied it will sit dormant
I am not a programmer, but I think the next step to learn would be the "why" of python.
How does it compile down, and what does it abstract. Then it may be easier to think of the abstraction layers that sit on top of it.
May you Elaborate
My PC doesn't want to boot and it looks like it's in sleep mode

just use it everyday
Hello gamers, what ideas do you when it comes to a powershell script, that gets an .exe file from our side to a local computer (basically copying it over) what alternatives y'all can offer without needing ClientID from apps on Entra, that would be safe for me and others using the script?
(Any ideas are appreciated)
Was missing Flock role. It got handled.
Just like @vivid steeple said, actually using it is the best way to practice.
That could be a server that you have at home, or a VM, or actually using it as your Laptop or Desktop OS.
The more practice you get, the more you get to learn.
How big is the file?
150MB-1GB
Most consistent way is through something like hosting the file on an authenticated/unauthenticated HTTP server in the IT world.
Then you can use C:\Windows\system32\curl.exe (Included with windows) to download the file and put it into position.

Hello yall, is there any website for phishing or to identify a phishing email
It neither your not your cousins account, it is instagrams account - and if their support does not help you, then what you are asking for essentially is "who can hack anyones instagram account for me?" with a sad little sob story to explain it.
This is not going to happen, as you would have found out with the search function cause your case comes up All The Time.
So long story short - and as epsilon already told you - no help with this.
You may though now get DMs from people on this server trying to scam you with a promise that they can get it done.. be aware
@steady palm sorry for the ping by the way
You will need to contact the relevant support for the platform. You wont receive that help here. Refer to our #📜・rules

ok admin
Im more than happy to remove you from the community
Sure,
I am already a information security analyst but just got laid off.
I have a interview at weekend with expertise of azure sentinel specially with kql.
I worked on microsoft defender with visuals rather than query. Thats why i need little help to pass the interview
better dont do that
You have 5 mins to remove it form your bio
threat are not alloyed right cyber bullying
I would argue that, but apparently there is little reason to looks at the watch
This is not Cyber Bullying, or a threat. Its a call to action, Remove it or I remove you super simple
i agree
i recognize your fact
alright i see
and what help did you need more specifically?
just “needing help to pass the interview” is pretty broad
anyone can help me in request based automation ( python )
looking for software dev for complex programms
I need to be strong on kql over azure sentinel.
Although i have searched over internet about the schemas and tables but i need specific like when i should brought up the right table to extract infromation from alert.
Its usually easier for everyone involved if you just spill details right away
okk

Question, I’m currently working as a desktop support specialist. I’m interested in the cyber field. But what I’m concerned about is this: how much of the field is actual problem solving (like puzzle solving) vs maintenance, checking boxes, and repetitive troubleshooting (like how in help desk we do unplug replug or restart the computer or log out and log in or uninstall reinstall). I don’t wanna get disappointed with the whole expectations vs reality thing so that’s why I ask
That depends a lot on where you end up, honestly.
cyber security is a vast field
In terms of role or in terms of company?
both - lets say you intend to go the pentesting route.. most likely starting in a junior position. Clients define the scope, they may be totally happy with a scope that allows for little more than pointing a vulnerability scanner at some systems, cause the only reason they want a pentest is for compliance reasons.. and that can get quite tedious for a junior position, and involve more report writing than you would think is reasonable. On the other hand if you are well-versed and get a reputation to be the person to call when stuff has to be tested vigorously, or get into a team leading position, things can be very different.
Code analysis can be tedious.. DFIR.. SOC/SIEM.. it all depends on what you are capable of, what is expected from you by colleagues/clients
It "can" be great though
@deep topaz
What vpn do you recommend I’ve been asking everyone just wanted to make sure it’s a general consensus
One that doesn't log and has the independent audit to prove it. I would ask some of the other more capable folks in the chat.
I haven't quite found ones that I like. Also, I guess it depends on why you think you need a VPN. If it's for general safety, I think just about any paid VPN will do.
I'd recommend something like IVPN or mullvad.
I guess the same applies to Network Security Engineers and software engineers? I thought DFIR was “investigative” and shit
It is, but what makes you think it's not repetitive 😉
Hmm..my colleague tells me that I like solving puzzles and recommended a career like that. Thing is, I find most desktop support jobs to be unbelievably boring and repetitive with no actual puzzle solving. So I’m coming at it from this perspective
I guess if someone really wants to get into “problem solving” that would probably be startups right? (Either creating your own or joining an early stage one)
Startups or MSPs
MSPs are chaotic AF
As I said, it depends
Had an experience with an MSP. High effort and low reward. Completely disorganized. I like startups
Can't say they are boring though 😛
I was bored out of my mind and stressed out at the same time
If you can deal with 50+ different environments at the same time
a single environment becomes more trivial
Is someone here CCNA certified?
Guys I got a question
When I learn something for example about networking or coding or hacking or wtv how can I practice it where?
THM / HTB or your own lab
Depends on what you learned. There are service providers like the ones mentioned, or websites where you can download purposefully vulnerable machines, or you built those machines yourself to test upon
Alright thank you guys
Thank you! I was wondering how else I could use it
Quick question, folks:
I wanna learn how to build AI automation and agents. Please recommend me reliable sources where I can learn from.🙋♂️
network chuck has some interesting videos on it. and i have heard a bit about Llama language modles that would be worth checking out
N8N, is all about automation.
Network Chuck approved LOL
man i used to download all his videos so i could watch them whilw i was at work lol
He does have some great networking informational videos. He's branched out a lot from his original days. Plus the Coffee and the new Sweet Hair Do. I appreciate what he puts together, monetized or not .
Thank you, @deep topaz 🤝
i cant seem to join general vc what do i do?
what level you on in the server? could be restricted there?
i think i am level zero
Brother I am -8
😂
i need the files because i didnt backup them, i have the new version
i should have done it before
I just finished the room of http in detail man it was a little complex
I just finished it why would I do it again ?
Okay delta imma do it again rn
Alright alright thank you for this man appreciate it
There's some way I can configure a few virtual machines for one act like a switch for all others for some networking tests?
i am not sure i fully understand your question
I'm using some VMs in bridge mode, they can communicate each other by using my router, but I want some other virtual machine to act as a router/switch for them connecting themselves. Without using my real router for that.
Is that possible?
what is this?
It teaches you about how you request content from a web server using the HTTP protocol
Yes.
You just need multiple bridges. The "Router" should be on both the bridge that connects to your real router, as well as a private "Internal" bridge. Then the rest of your VMs are on that private "Internal" bridge.
Roger that, I will try to apply 🙏
Thanks
Does anyone perchance know a good tutorial for setting up hash cat and the like? I’ve been messing with a pwnagotchi recently (with permission) and now want to actually do something with the handshakes it has gathered
hashcat has installation guides on the website, and a large community to support
just playing. like Eris2cats said, and to add, HTB has a good hashcat module, and blackhills info sec has a good hashcat cheetsheet
Hey guys I am planning to upgrade my SSD and I want to use the new SSD as external storage in the future, my current laptop is dell latitude 7390 which supports gen 3 and I choose WD SN580 which is gen4 nvme SSD and backwards compatible and affordable but I got to know in a youtube video that they are facing compatable issue
I just wanted to know from someone who has more knowledge that me if WD SN580 is a good choice for me
Hey everyone! I am studying the SOC I program on THM and it's discussing automation for the SIEM. I'm a complete and total newb so please forgive the dumb question, but what scripting language(s) should I learn in order to be a more marketable SOC Analyst candidate on paper AND in practice? I'm receiving absolutely no callbacks on my applications/resume submissions and I'm thinking perhaps knowing some scripting languages would give me a better chance
its odd asking for help in here for once, but what does everyone suggest I learn for cybersecurity specifically? Ive been more on the software development side and am nearing a full stack certification but I know that cybersecurity plays a huge role in that. Ive taken peaks at CCNA, know relatively how ip addresses and subnet masking works, but that is extremely surface level material, so yeah
Any specific ambition as to where you want to end up?
oh no, I dont plan to follow a profession in cybersecurity, but I enjoy both red and blue teaming. But I know as technology continues to develop, having an understanding will be greatly beneficial to me
but knowing how it can impact websites and the development side of things may be a good focus for me
Gotcha.. in that case probably someone else should chime in
dev/devsecops has never been my forté
There is too much to learn on both sides
that ive quickly come to realize lol
I know srhoe and many others have good starting points but that race isnt just one track
I'm not that so into SOC but maybe I can help you.
Programming languages in a more general way are just tools for solving determinate problem with some algorithm, if any language can solve the problem in a good way, then you can focus on it.
I would recommend shell scripting for Linux based systems (or similars), Python is good for automation, so you can automate some log scanner or something like that.
oh my god do jolly rancher gummies taste horrid
I may not know cybersecurity as well but I know software and this is true, knowing the bones behind it is very beneficial. Python, cSharp, and JS are very good starting points
Maybe something is wrong with your CV
Also you usually use a query language if you search in a SIEM
Or build custom detections
Splunk = SPL
Microsoft Defender = KQL
Cortex XDR = XQL
IBM QRadar = AQL
Question about the server (I'm new).
If I have some question related to networking (for a while I'm focusing on it), can I ask on this channel or on the #🌐・iot-and-networking ?
Both are fine I guess
Alr then
If your networking isn't that strong, i would do that next.
It is very important.
that can be a vary broad umbrella area lol
prove it by asking a question
Sup?
Ish.
Basic networking:
- Switching + APs(L2)
- Gateways (L3)
- Protocols(L4)
- DHCP
- DNS
- Firewalls/ACLs
- NAT
Advanced Networking
- vLANs
- VPNs
- Reverse Proxies + Load Balancing
- Static Routes
- IPv6
- Radius
ISP/Cloud Networking
- BGP
- MPLS/LDP/Segmented Routing
- Layer 3 Switching
- IDS/IPS
I am probably missing stuff
thank you :D
Umm I’m new here and I’m new to cybersecurity and all of this , what can I expect here and what I do and how can I go about all of this
This server here is just a bunch of nerds nerding or yapping about random stuff
but you can ask questions and will get good answers in all fields here
Thank you
Any body who's a pro in python here
im not a pro but I decently know how it works, whats your issue?
So I want to build websites but am not understanding the tutorials on YouTube could you help me kindly
Oo thanks 👍
I understand my own things
oh you dont need python to build a website, HTML/CSS/ and JS are what you need. There are many starting points to learn it like codecademy and whatnot, and refer to what d2ita said for starting points :D
Let me look for more info on codecademy
okie doke
Thanks a lot
yea ofc :D
I needed help lucky I have a group now
thats good
Any chance you'd be willing to critique my CV/resume? (if we're even able to add a photo in here, I'm not seeing that it let's ya do that) I know it could use a lil TLC but I need complete guidance on it - I'm lost and new relatively new to tech, so I'm sure there's plenty of ways to improve it
i love destroying peoples confidence with this
what are u applying for
SOC Analyst L1
oh nvm i do it for my interns and juniors going for a rto pos
Hey guys I heard about the server im trying to get into cyber security, I don’t yet have a pc what are some tips?
Sorry for my newbness - what's rto?
red team operator
Aww, duh
get a pc
yku ain’t doing anything
on phone
Rd I will get one for Christmas
Hello guys
Does anyone knows why Ngrok website isn't working ?
I would love to red team though. I just kinda assumed I had to SOC before going on the offense
my friend hacked it
no, we have no damn idea lmao
literally check downdetector or google it
we ain’t google
Thanks for the help 👍👍
you have to go to what you enjoy
life’s too short to build some corporate path
you need luck and motivation
i was working on contracts as a network pentester a bit over a year ago
later through some decent connections got an internship at a red teaming section of an electronics company
moved to jr rto a few months later and now latest promotion being normal red team operator meaning i have full access of engagement as well as im able to interview inters and sometimes juniors for first round
currently heading for sr rto, which might take a year or two, or more
i just listened to the latest ep of Darknet and got totally motivated to do the pentesting course on THM...but I'm still in the SOC L1 course so once I'm done with that I'll go into the red team stuff
That's amazing!!
then gonna marry my gf and switch to
being a sec architect
they make lots
often starter salaries for seniors are a calm 200-400k
though one never needs more than 60k to sustain him perfectly
not the dark net diaries
same as like watching a hacker movie
I genuinely thought there was a ladder when it came to CS....granted, my source of info was always the education system. They said I had to help desk for a couple years before going into SOC, then I could either go into GRC after SOC or I could go into Pentesting. so I was going to make that decision after SOC....but I already had decided on being red team during my stint as help desk, lol
will get yku the dopamine hit.. atleast?
Yeah, I honestly listen to it (other than it being interesting af) to help learn all the language and terms....it's like trying to learn a new language so you immerse yourself in the culture and just listen to it being used in order to understand how to use it yourself
Well, thank you so much for the insight on pathways...I'm not abandoning the SOC endeavor, but I will start submitting for Jr pentesting stuff
oh yeah for that it’s nice
ofc !
happy to help
Hi guy , please have got a problem, ...
So I bought a MacBook system
Mac os Mojave 10.14 , I know it's pretty damn old 2009
But then I can't open my iCloud account, I can't update the system, I can't even download software apps
Please what should I do
and like
did you set it to your icloud already
I can't even create an account with it , it kept on giving errors
Am sure, I wasted my money 😭
Upgrade the OS if the hardware will allow. Most 2009 Macs cannot officially upgrade past El Capitan or High Sierra.....Mojave itself already required a patched install on many 2009 machines
I already did too.
I even did open core legacy pacther
1 option is to stop using Apple services. You can use it offline....Install older versions of apps manually....you could use third-party browsers that still support Mojave. But no iCloud, no app store, no security updates, it's totally unsafe for banking/email/sensitive data and basically turns the mac into just a typewriter.
Blunt truth....a 2015–2017 model costs less than the time spent fighting this. I would just use that computer to practice break-fix stuff on and save for a a slightly newer model that's still supported
and how’d that turn out
wrong, OCLP
I guess, I would have to change it..
my 2012 macbook which was so old i didn’t remember a relatives icloud and instead spent hours trynna bypass the icloud without any info, runs mojave
though really laggy
what’s the issue even
seems like it could just be corrupted
just try re patching with oclp
make sure the drivers are installed at the start asw
You think so ?
ya
just try re patching it
if it’s giving errors left and right and many different errors
then it’s often either a config issue or corruption issue
Whats up ppl! Hey, I've trying to figure out how to get started on a project that's probably too advance for me, but what the heck, I want to try it anyway. I want to install Arch Linux on an old laptop (wiping the laptop clean) I have laying around. What specs do I need in order to run it, and how do I get started (videos, etc.)?
Use google to know the specs
what should i get from amazon?
can someone help me get someone arrested for doing crimes idk what to do
Ok …. I have witnessed first hand now that my woman is not paranoid . There is or HAS to be hidden cameras or listening devices in her apartment. I am here with her right now and I hope I am not asking or saying it wrong but how can I check for any hidden device here ? I hope I have the right place to ask this question too . If I am not , please direct me to who can help me . This is the first of many many questions I need guidance in / with .. thank you
The police would be that "someone"
Already tried
this isn't something "you" try, it's something "the police" tries. If they won't pursue a case, then what do you expect us to do about it
Typically that would depend on how it functions.. my first attempt would be thermal imaging the space, and look for heat sources that are not supposed to be there. If it is suspected that the recording is being transmitted, rather than saved locally, and it's likely a commercial product, then you can use some "bug detectors" which look for signal strength nearby - those can easily be obtained by amazon and work against transmitting microphones, too. Lastly, camera lenses can be seen with some red polarized filter and red light.. they light up just like eyeballs do under a flashlight in the dark. Those can also be bought online easily.
But if you say "hidden camera OR listening device" .. may I ask what prompted the idea that there were any?
please help with the latest microsoft office for windows 11 and how to activate it permanently
buy it, or according to the #📜・rules we are not able to help you. Consider LibreOffice instead
thanks
I hope you did not click that invite my friend, that was a scam account.
i wrote a python script to search all directories and rename every file then put all renamed files in one folder im a beginner at programming and it broke my last computer anyone got any tips?
"my woman"
im crine
My advice would be to not do that
Ages ago a friend of mine tried to sort all files by type neatly into different folders, cause she thought it was messy.. totally forgot about that up until now
All the .dlls into the "i don't know what this is" folder?
exactly like that
.dll in the "DLL" folder, .exe in the EXE folder.. and so forth
though if memory serves it was an apple device
ntoskrnl.exe into the .exe folder
As I said, that was ages ago
Anyone know why this command "utmpdump" is not working on linux, atleast on mine. I'm doing a ctf on hackthebox and when i try to read a file using this command it's saying "command utmpdump not found, did you mean command rtmpdump from deb rtmpdump. I tried reinstalling linux (i use it on a vm) tried updating repository but still won't work.
because the tool that the command belongs to is not installed - where did you get the idea from that you need to execute that command?
looking at their github, the last commit was 6 years ago, likely abandoned
and why even utmpdump? there are so many different ways to read the file...
they are probably using an outdated walkthrough to "do the ctf"
Ahh, let me see what other ways there are to read that file.
just ask it instead of having people prod you for information.
I have seen some people on youtube using telegram predictor bot for some certain games ,pls is it real and can i create one
fake
Don't gamble, invest in the outcome of the casino. And in this case, Discord users are using "gambling predictors" to become better gamblers.
For the steep price of $700 DOLLARS, you can join a Discord server and get access to their bloxflip / stake gambling predictor Discord bot. This bot claims to predict the outcome of your game with a 70-10...
wow thanks i thought it was real
Done that and I'm getting different specs. Being a new comer, I not sure which are actually correct. This is personal unmapped territory.
How old, roughly?
pretty much anything that isn't ancient computing history should be able to run arch fine.
how do u know when a link carries virus
could someone delete your account remotely
hi veryone , is there some python expert here ? or a good website where i can learn ?
Hello.. I am new to these cyber security topics.. I wanna install kali Linux on my mobile device but without rooting or enabling developer options. Is that possible?
Depends on the device. Look for nethunter (not kali) supported devices on the kali.org website
I have a honor device
Happy to hear that. Now look on the list of supported devices
If a device is not currently supported already, you may be able to port nethunter yourself to it. If you know what you are doing and do not rely on a guide. The kali webforum has sections for nethunter
Thankyou
is mineasp legit or fake
Is that another predictor?
All predictors are fake bro
no actually is its a usdt mining app bro
Not exactly sure, but it came with windows 8 pre-installed. I believe it's about 7 to 8 yrs old (at least).
that'll be fine. I'd recommend watching an installation tutorial for arch on youtube.
plus following the wiki obviously
(And try on a VM if don't feel so confident for now)
You are not getting free money bro.
If you're super confident that you won't mess it up then go ahead with the recommendations if not then try it on a VM first
to be fair, going by what they've said it's safe to assume it's a sacrifical machine until arch is on it
who said its free its more like and an investment platform
vm installation differs from bare metal, unfortunately
For freshers in cybersecurity which job role is best?
Many roles are cool, SOC analyst, malware analysc, SIEM, security researcher....
Most of them use the same base: operating system, networking, common vulnerabilities, etc...
Its a scam
it always is
Tell one best role I will concentrate on that skill
There's no "best", there's which is better for you
Maybe you like more the process of protecting and responding to threats, reverse engineering things, discovering vulns.
I'm not chatgpt >.>
👍
I would recommend you follow something because of the process, not the payment
Kk thanks
ok thanks man
Hey buddies I want you guys to help me clear out a confusion regarding the blue team in cybersecurity
Is SOC cooked?
Like AI has almost automated L1,2 tasks of SOC and it's jobs are getting depleted??
Your guidance would be appreciated
No it is not "cooked"
You gotta differentiate between marketing claims and the real world.
@whole patio how can you say that it's not cooked?
Like are there any roles that are still being offered as L1
LLMs by their very nature produce non-deterministic output, a lot of companies that would very much like to sell you their "AI"-solution proclaim that it can do the job, but in reality you still need people to make decisions, sanity-check events and communicate
I dont want "non-deterministic" output in my SOC solution.. there have been cases where people tried prompt injection in metadata and of course the ai solution was fooled by them
rule of thumb.. if linkedin is trying to convince you of something, it is false
Yes, it is.
Really, how so?
It's virtualised hardware. Sure, some stuff is passed through to your actual hardware peripherals, but there's going to be software and hardware differences
i.e. wifi adapters or graphics.
hello all
Hello
Maybe if you send the info
Decrypt This: "Mio9KDk1JicqLTo1Ois8Hjl1Pit-NzY7eDp1GiBoOnAjAAchAAAAAAAAZy4ReBE4MBErPCM6JWx6LTZxJWh9"
this is it
im really spinning my heads or it
...
Bro it has a row of AAAAAA
What type of encryption is this
You sure there is no more info?
yeah
No key no nothing?
i tried it with hex
lemme paste the whole qn
Cryptography
"The NETANIX security team has deployed a custom obfuscation layer to protect their internal flag.
Decrypt This: "Mio9KDk1JicqLTo1Ois8Hjl1Pit-NzY7eDp1GiBoOnAjAAchAAAAAAAAZy4ReBE4MBErPCM6JWx6LTZxJWh9"
Flag Format: softwarica{....}
Gimme a sec
Or maybe an hour
u sure bro??
thnx for the guidance means alott
i just found that it ailt a simple base64
and when i tried from cyberchef i got bunch of codes with= at last and losts of block alphabets
Yeah I love crypto
Not promising anything but yeah
Go ahead
im 19 and ive enrolled in an uk affialiated college for 3 yrs cource in cybersecurity and ethical hacking
its an coventry affialiated uni
and im new to linux vm wares dual os bootings
and im also not soo fabulous in programming
and im just tryna learn
and idk where to start from
or how to go ahead
so im seeking for guidance
That's great, you git guides in this server actually
and perhaps answers to my qn
thnx siknubo
Explore this server ill try decrypt this shit
how many years have u been engaged in this sector??
there are many questions my prof dropped
if im being honest ive been trying things for 2 weeks now and have been able to solve only 4 or 5
from osint crypto forensics etc
thank you so much bro😭😭
My first ever cryptography project was 2 and a half years ago
wow
Since then I learned more and more
im really new to ethical hacking
It was an aes symmetric encryption
An app that encryption a message for you with only 1 key to encryption and decode, nothing crazy
sounds out of my understanding lol
what does it meN
mean
Oh AES stands for advanced encryption standard which is simply 1 way to encrypt, symmetric encryption means you have 1 key(password) to encrypt and decrypt
Asymmetrical encryption requires 2 different passwords
like a substitute or something??
It's just a modern encryption method
Nothing too crazy, you encrypt a message based on the keys characters
It sounds complicated but once you make it yourself it's not that hard
Btw
About the ctf, it actually looks like base64
They just did something to it
we havent been taught c#
the only things i learnt are qbasic basic html python php and c++
school course
dang, i would give you the code, but i decoded it in c#
you guys should learn c# really
i have vsc
can it help??
maybe, you need extensions tho, try making a file with .cs
okayy
ill send you the code in dm, for now try this flag
softwarica{rot47_and_base64}
yeah my code messed up somewhere but its gotta be something like this
Hey everyone, I’m looking for some honest advice. I’m 19 years old and currently in my first year of an ICT program in Europe. When I started, I thought cybersecurity might be the direction I wanted to go in, but over the past months I’ve started to seriously doubt that choice.
What’s making me unsure is the long term picture. AI is moving extremely fast, and from what I see and read, entry level roles in cybersecurity are becoming harder to get. I’m not trying to chase trends or the “cool” option I’m trying to choose a career that I can still rely on 15 to 20 years from now.
That’s why I wanted to ask people who actually work in cybersecurity. If you were starting over today, would you still choose this field? And would you honestly recommend it to someone in my position, or are there things about the job market and the lifestyle that aren’t obvious when you’re just starting out? I’d really appreciate any honest insight.
Ai is not taking over cyber security
Hey so which linux distro should I use for coding ?
really doesn't matter, just pick one
anybody know what to do when i get the alert "unsupported or unrecognized ssl message" in burp suite why trying to send a request to a website?
I’m new here and want to learn coding. I went to school for electronic engineering but would love to broaden my skills. What would y’all suggest as a beginner? Any free classes online?
figure out what lang you wanna do first
I want to be well rounded in all. But python and java are the two that stuck out the most to me.
What is a good Rasberry Pi for beginner to test and play with it. Not necesrelly for hosting game servers like Minecraft because i have a 150EUR budget. It is more like for putting DNS servers, HTTP & HTTPS vhosts, SMTP,..etc all that
For that I would use for host something on TOR/I2P, or snowflake bridge for helping TOR...
But for something more personal I would use as a personal library, like a simple website with a list of pdfs or articles
cs50p for python codeacademy for others i think
Can someone please share scripts for the t embed
150eur more than enough to make a server
and you wanna do what
I’m just trying out new stuff so I’ll take anything
Hey everyone glad to be here. I’m new to the community and looking to get my feet wet on the more hands-on side of red teaming. I’ve recently finished school and I’m now focusing on building practical red-team experience. I’m setting up a personal red-team lab to practice MITRE ATT&CK techniques such as execution, persistence, and lateral movement in a fully isolated environment that I own and control. I’m particularly interested in framework-based simulations (Atomic Red Team, ATT&CK emulation plans, etc.) rather than one-off exploits.
If anyone has recommended labs, learning paths, or resources they’ve found effective, I’d really appreciate the guidance. I need some hands on XP. Thanks
you’re on the right path with making home labs
Metasploitable is a virtual machine which contains many vulnerabilities at once, it was made firstly for testing some metasploit modules, but there are other ways to exploit it, can be useful on your lab :)
I was in your shoes 1 year ago, stay and see how you feel later down the line, im super happy i did
no
hi
hi
hyd
I really need it
good
4 what?
we all need money
thats good
for sure lmfao
Nah bruh I can
But not rn?
I can pay next week
so can someone tell me how good can termux be?
i have it on my phone but idk how to use it
Whats it 4 then?
For groceries and oils
@elfin musk We do not help with money here, please make sure to read #📜・rules this is a cybersec server
Ohk
You are asking at the wrong place, and please stay vigilante with your DMs, it can be a scam
please, my mom is kinda homeless
Not doing again 😭👍
👀 I am less in everything
I mean you can ssh into a machine from your phone, kinda dope
problemless?
my friend told me some ppl use it for unethical hacking
getting into someone whatsapp
or any social
so im kinda asking to make sure its safe
Yes it is unethical
That is, yes, but you can do ryhical stuff with it 2
so i should keep it only for the cowsay command lmao
Its like using your regular terminal, the cool thing is you can do it from your phone, as long as you do ethical stuff its all good
Lol
im new to all the things of hacking nd shi
so i thought id come by here nd learn slowly
since im missing a year in university i could start learning alone until i get into university
i checked it out got lost 😭
someone told me to check hackthebox
Haha, watch the video tutorials in each room before
Hackthebox is a lil more advanced, at least thats what i think
oh
nvm then
Hi, I was just wondering if the Digital Technology Solutions (Level 6) Degree Apprenticeship is a good degree for going into Cyber Security https://skillsengland.education.gov.uk/apprenticeship-standards/st0119-v1-2
It has a section for Cyber Security but not all companies list as an option that I can take, and the ones that do are too far away from where I live, so I may have to end up doing one of the other options
Option 1: Software Engineer
Option 2: IT Consultant
Option 3: Business Analyst
Option 4: Cyber Security Analyst
Option 5: Data Analyst
Option 6: Network Engineer
so is hashcat unethical
I truly recommend tryhackme first, watch the videos,
Every tool out there can be used for ethical or unethical purposes
ill give it another go
but i heard hashcat is password cracking tool
4 is a great starting point, like a soc
Yes, it is
well then
thanks for ur help today appreciate u answering my questions
ill head off to sleep now goodnight
The tools themselves are not unethical but if you use them to do illegal stuff your using them unethicaly
The Digital Technology Solutions (Level 6) Degree Apprenticeship can be a good pathway into Cyber Security, as it offers a specialized Cyber Security Analyst option. However, since not all companies offer this and some may be far from where you live, you could still pursue another option within the apprenticeship, such as IT Consultant, Software Engineer, or Network Engineer.
Also these roles often involve the aspects of security, so it is good
No problem, night
got it now i understand
I recommend Level 4 more, but level 6 is also a good start as it gives you a grip on networking!
if I was looking for a role after let's say being a Cyber Analyst, should I also complete any certifications to help boost my CV if I did end up doing another option like the Software Engineer one
Currently I am starting to use tryhackme just to help me with the basics
I'm only going the Level 6 route as I am about to finish A-levels, and my teachers have reccomended that I go the Level 6 route since it would be the equivalent of a uni degree but with the work experience as well
All i have on my cv is the thm certs (into and cyber 101)
Sounds like a good idea
What certs would you recommend if I want to go in as a Security Engineer? I am still trying to figure out a roadmap for myself but that is the end goal for me
Yes, there are good certs in comptia and SANS (for beginners)
You can have a look in those companies
I got my first job as a security engineer 2 weeks ago, all i have done is bunch of beginner courses (networking) (soc) and stuff like that, but i agree with zero, take a look at sans
We dont do that here, contact support
Alright then, thanks for the help. I'll have a look at SANS as well since I have just been looking as Comptia for different certs.
@karmic dagger hi
If this is general chat then do it in #💬・old-gen-chat
Not like that
He put me through and I was try to know if I'm in the right place
A thousand apologies 🙏
For me I can’t type in general chat
Hi
Pls I'm new to the world of cybersecurity like ive got zero knowledge and willing Learn from you all thanks

it’s from 6 years ago
it’s old asf and will not work
Why be so mean chill :T
Why backhat is a user tag here, literally confessing people are criminal.
Life lesson.. give em enough rope
because confessing without proof is
not valid
🤔 wtf.
Anyone know how to catch fraudulent brokers?
Who i have someone who pirated games help me proofread some information. Some of my colleagues sent me on how to get some games for a cheap price.
... hi ...
hoping someone may actually provide some input here..
so, "in theory" .. if someone were to obtain, lets say, MY DeepSeek API key.. and then they were able to prompt engineer it to allow them to execute any commands with full sudoer privs across the whole system - BUT - the machine that DeepSeek inhabits is within a VirtualBox VM (Ubuntu 22.04) that is behind a NAT, so traffic can go out anywhere but won't allow any incoming traffic .. would it somehow be possible to make a hole for ingress traffic?.. or perhaps possible to tunnel into the host machine where VBox is running?..
or, lets also say.. that the wifi adapter/card is active and accessible.. and it can be put into monitor mode, and aircrack, etc can be installed and can be executed (just for a bit of context) could there somehow be a way to break out of being locked behind the NAT via the wifi connection (if one were able to establish one)..
or literally anything else that I surely am missing here
I would wait for someone with a deeper understanding than myself, but after reading that it sounds like you have it pretty well secured. Im guessing youre asking because something seems out of place already tho... lmao
they posted this in like every channel, somebody explained it in pentesting
I just got back, good to know
I came to ask my own queston that I mentioned in #💬・old-gen-chat though. Im in the throughs of job applications post-graduation. I have a degree in cyber defense and am looking for entry-level/early career positions in Michigan. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions that helped them get their job because i am tired of Indeed/zip recruiter etc. If anyone has input from a resource procurement prespective too that would be great
Has anyone taken the CompTIA A+ cert course? This is week 11 (final) and I feel as if I haven’t been able to retain anything, unfortunately.
Does anyone have any tips for this?
I have a couple notes:
- Master the Exam Objectives
CompTIA provides a detailed list of objectives for both exams. Consider downloading the official PDF and use it as your primary checklist instead of guessing the contents.
Core 1: Focuses on hardware, networking, and mobile devices.
Core 2: Focuses on operating systems, security, and software troubleshooting.
The "Explain" Rule: If you can’t explain a specific objective (e.g., "the difference between SaaS and IaaS") out loud to someone else, you don't know it well enough yet.
- Decode the "CompTIA Way" of Questioning
CompTIA questions are notoriously wordy and "tricky."
Find the "First" or "Best": Many questions will offer four "correct" steps, but ask which one you should do FIRST. Usually, the answer is the least invasive or the most basic troubleshooting step (e.g., checking the power cable before replacing a motherboard).
Eliminate the "Distractors": Usually, two answers are obviously wrong. Narrow it down to the remaining two and re-read the question carefully for keywords like "minimum," "maximum," or "not."
- Strategize for Performance-Based Questions (PBQs)
PBQs are hands-on simulations that appear at the very beginning of the exam.
Skip them initially: Many successful test-takers flag the PBQs and skip to the multiple-choice questions first. This builds your confidence, ensures you don't run out of time on easy questions, and sometimes a later multiple-choice question might even give you a hint for a PBQ.
Practice Labs: Use tools like VirtualBox to set up virtual machines (Windows, Linux) and practice using Command Line tools (ping, tracert, ipconfig, chmod) and Disk Management.
I would consider the VM portion of that optional, but can be helpful if youve never used them before
