If you want to speed up learning, and don't have anything for VMs, you can either use the official docs by redhat for using cockpit to manage virtual machines on a redhat server.

Overall for cyber security, you need fundamental understandings of Networking, Hardware, OSes and Application Development.

Whoever said to "never practice kali" is kind of doing an over correction. The post that you saw that from is probably from someone who is so sick of everyone focusing so hard on kali instead of understanding what a linux is in the first place. Kali is good. Kali is a tool. MacOS is a tool. Windows is a tool. Understand what the usage of these tools are, and which is the right tools for the right jobs. Kali is a great "additional tool", but doesn't make for a great home computer OS. ParrotOS is another tool that some people prefer that is similar. But you can also install these tools on other linux distros. So there is 0 reason to lock yourself into that OS.

Redhat, its the same thing. They do things better than other distros. They also do things worse than other distros. I don't like Fedora as my OS, but other people love it. The big thing behind Redhat is that they operate on licensing and private repositories for their servers. So its a barrier to get into (there are ways to learn still), but then you can be sure that there are established businesses running these tools out there. Because of this, they also push a lot of the industry standard tooling, like Ansible, podman, keycloak, Redhat Satellite, FreeIPA/RedHat Directory Server, and they contribute to a bunch of projects.

If you would like to learn how to build your own CPU, and write your own assembly code that runs on top of it (a pre-cursor to learning x86 assembly), then a good resource would be Nand2tetris. Its a free online "course" (bunch of .pdfs and some java tools) that will explain the entire thing.

Turing Complete on steam(while not free) is also nicer to use than the java emulated tools from nand2tetris.

Check your grub.cfg (in your EFI partition) and make sure your timeout isn't set to 0, then run grub-update

Try just regenerating your GRUB config from scratch:

sudo update-grub

It should at the very least show the GRUB menu, don't know why BIOS wouldn't be working, maybe you need to reflash it in your Windows partition when you get it working

GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=false

To your grub.cfg, then run sudo update-grub again
