not too sure about the bubble thing, I mean you could probably edit the .ico files but you'd need to do that for everything on your desktop or you could just have a static png as your background and put the apps/shortcuts into the bubbles that way, if you want you can also disable grid snapping on your desktop (on windows anyway) so you can move your apps wherever

Hey all, so long story short; I am looking for resources on making applications run on startup on linux, I recently started learning how to do stuff with linux mint as I am trying to re-purpose an old laptop as a server host for starbound (a game) and so far I know that I should probably work with systemd .service files but that's also where I'm a little stuck, did try looking online and not sure if it's me being terrible with research or what but I haven't been able to find much of anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 I did also read somewhere that you can make paging swap files? not sure if that's even a thing but figured it'd be worth an ask since my old laptop only has 4gb of ram so having more than 4 players might make it go crazy ._.

Dual booting Linux+Windows in my opinion usually doesn't work well on a single SSD. You would want separate SSDs for it.

The reason for that is because eventually Microsoft will release an update that will break whatever bootloader you are using, leaving you either in a state where only Windows works, or no OS works. If they are on separate disks, than windows only touches it's own bootloader.

There are video editing tools that work in linux, like kdenlive(there are more, i promise, i just don't do it enough to know them).
Blender works great in linux. If you are doing recording of the screens, then You might want something like a Gnome/KDE/Cinnamon for your Desktop environment, as they will have better support for things like that.

I have an AppImage laying on my desktop and I tried removing it using the terminal. It was gone and so I was content, but when I open up the lists of apps (like opening your Windows start) it still shows the name of the app I just removed. When I clicked on it, it doesn't exist, but it seems that my linux hadn't removed the directory although it doesn't... exist any longer.

I always had trouble with this but somehow I made it work always, so I am doing a local machine (our college has set it up), and it has a bot and we have to mail that bot with a configuration.Library-ms file. Now, we also have to add a malicious .lnk file which will give us reverse shell. Very simple!

I launched my wsgidav command on my Kali (works)
I create a configuration.Library-ms on my windows VM (commando windows)
I try to test it.
The <url>http://<my kali ip>/</url> is under <simpleLocation>

If I try to open that url from file explorer, it works!
I try to double click configuration-Library-ms and bang! It says "No folder have been included in this library"

I am troubleshooting since dinosaur age, I am tired, going for a walk! I also went through my old notes and some articles, I did the exact same thing but the error is there.

@honest crescent Check WebClient service, and make sure WebDAV answers PROPFIND/207. Don’t point lib to root, add a subfolder with files + trailing slash. Also test with local folder first to rule out XML fuckups.

Essentially, you would want to take not of what partitions you require for what you need, and which ones are windows only. Then you can delete the windows only one, and if your partitions line up, then you can expand your current partition

So if you are 100% sure you don't need windows anymore, you could get rid of those 3, and then expand mmcblk0p6 to take up the room.

I have been using 2 different virtual machines (oracle virtualbox and VMware). I usually update and upgrade every week/2 weeks just because it seems easy to me. I recently attempted to update/upgrade and get an error - no pub key (photos inc). All the people I have asked so far tell me to just reinstall. For me that just does not work. you can do a number of things with the jsessionid. check for security flags that protect the cookie like httponly and samesite (i don’t remember all of them). absence of certain flags could lead to abuse and is reportable

you can try for session hijacking/fixation using that id at any part within the scope that requires authentication. also check if it rotates after each session or not

there’s a whole lot of things you can try

open redirects, csrf tests, cache deception etc

Some, especially newer ones, nvidia gpu are not fully supported right away. If that is your case here, then I would strongly suggest to forego the idea of a live usb boot stick, you are not going to utilize the power of a strong gpu over your usb port anyway.

But the good news is that, if this is a newer model, then it should run a kali VM totally fine, and this would be my recommendation.
