Rufus is more customisable in every aspect

Rufus is also the single most cause of problems during the flashing of kali installation mediums on the kali discord. the kali image follows the din iso 9660, which includes the filesystem and partitions. Rufus in its default/recommended mode ignores that, causing a wide variety of weird problems for many people.

BalenaEtcher is the single tool for windows/macOS users, that you cannot go wrong with, with a kali iso.
Rufus in DD mode would do the same.. Best practice is to attempt to stop every random recommending using rufus, and causing people ending up on the kali server trying to troubleshoot some error that has nothing to do with the error message, but simply with the way it was flashed.

"Yeah but its working on my machine" does not prevent this for others

Its also why the parrot discord server has an automatic daily reminder NOT to use rufus

It looks like there were github issues, and the kali maintainers admitted fault in the past by breaking "FST", and fixed it.

I don't know where you looked, but feel free to join the kali server and enter "rufus" into the search function to get a feel about the consensus about rufus. While you are at it might also join the parrot os server and ask why there is a daily reminder about rufus set

Github "Issues", or Kali's "Issues", its a place in hosted git repositories where users can report bugs to the developers, and developers as well as future users can keep track of what issues have happened in the past with that piece of software.

A "Discord" is not a great place to house things like "Issues", as it will be hard to manage and keep track of them.
It looks like there is bug id #8441 on kali's side, where they talk about a regression in the codebase that broke Rufus's ability to write the ISO outside of DD mode.

I've been a community moderator on the kali discord for close to 2 years now, and a kali forum moderator since the relaunch, and while I appreciate you looking at the bug tracker and find an issue that was opened 2 years ago and references rufus under "additional infos", this just isn't a "my opinion is just as valid as your opinion"-situation, I'm afraid.

I think I already gave the explanation at the beginning, that rufus simply does not handle the fs/partition data in a din iso 9660 ISO-file, if you use rufus in default/recommended mode

Drivers are a piece of software/compiled code that tells the computer how to interact with something. That something could be the hardware map for a piece of hardware.

a BIOS(Basic Input/Output System) was replaced with UEFI, but it essentially gives the hardware a ROM(Read-only Memory) it can use for self-checks, as well as the ability to run "bootloaders" that chain the rest of your boot process.

There is a ton more that goes into it, but i guess thats a simplified way of saying it.

Speaking as a former victim of scams and criminals myself who lost his hard earned money a few years ago, I don't think you'll even be able to recover your stolen money. In rare cases you might, but the most you can do is either get a revenge on them (illegal/grey), or learn more and be cautious in the future to prevent these things being done to yourself and your loved ones.

What I meant by revenge is that you can basically you can try to hack into their systems and teach them some lessons, but it falls into illegal category considering you're trying to hack or access someone's device or network without their permission. And I wouldn't recommened you to do that. I myself did that to take revenge out of anger and frustrations. But I believe it's a very naive thing to do.

The best option would be to instead learn security things and improve your own security and educate others so that they don't fall for these. The only way to prevent most scams is through proper education and help.

So the "scam" was I was purchasing a program trying to learn more about defense wanted to have it so help prevent the bank spaming that has been increasing in my area it was supposed to be 150it then changed to 300 which at that time was fine but then it was another 300 and then it was another 300[for 1 on 1 coaching] and then that person asked for 275 and spammed my Cash app with requests (so I'm out 600)

Damn! That happened with me too in my second experience with the scammers. I once tried to buy a gift card through telegram and they basically fooled me and stole all of my money. I was newbie back then and paid in Cryptocurrencies without first checking addresses or even their legitimacy. Then they said they'll give the gift card codes to me but they never gave them to me. Later they removed all the chat history and even account name and other information.

You have less than 2% or even no chance of recovering the money directly from them unless you can somehow find out the scammer's location and kidnap and threaten them (illegal). I don't know what else suggestions I can give you or how else I can help besides these suggestions I gave you already. Basically the best thing you can do right now is to contact the cash app support team again and explain everything in details formerly if possible and provide proofs if you have. And you can try reporting directly to the FTC, IC3 FBI's internet crime complaints center and maybe your local Law Enforcement Agencies such as the Police. And most importantly, keep your accounts secure, always verify legitimacy of the courses and sellers such as their records and reviews and even better buy courses from official or authentic websites and platforms such as Coursera, EdX rather than P2P or direct transactions. And also learn from your mistakes and be prepared and teach others from your experience and help them to be secure too.

Ans also don't be fooled and fall for more scams again from "helpers", "tech support." There are such scammers in here and every other websites and groups. After seeing your messages, they might message you and say they're trying to "help" you to "recpver" your money. But there's a 80% chance that those people are another category of scammers rather us normal members who are trying to help you in here and give you suggestions. They might ask more of your personal information and even for payments to "recover" your money. Just be cautious and don't fall for that.

The people who fall for these scams are mostly senior people and much younger people. I feel really sad to see the innocent people being victims and robbed off by these evil scammers. I wish I could help them. But I don't have any Power or Authority. The only thing I can do is educate others and help them through condolences and suggestions.

But you can be a great example to the fellow people and become a Security expert and help prevent these scams and help other victims too.

Spam Coinbase Support Keep bugging them daily. Send screenshots of your ID, selfies, even old transaction history—anything to prove it’s you. Sometimes you gotta annoy them into helping.

Beg Verizon Harder If that number’s still floating in the void, Verizon might be able to temporarily revive it (for a fee). Cry customer service tears if you have to.

Skip the Sketchy "Recovery" Sites– 99% of those are scams, bro. They’ll take your last $2k and ghost you. Stick to official channels, even if it’s slow.

Try Logging in from a Different Device Sometimes the facial recognition glitches on one phone but works on another. Worth a shot.

Blow Up Social Media Tweet/DM Coinbase publicly. Companies hate looking bad online—might speed things up.

I'm sorry to hear that you're facing that issue. Although I didn't have the exact issue, but I was locked out of my account in a other website/platform with my money inside of it. This is really frustrating. But it's also understandable as the companies want to make sure the right person and the real owner has access to the account.

First advise you to be careful and stay away from any shady or suspicious people or websites that claim to "recover money." There's a 99.99% chance that they're scammers and ready to steal your money and personal information. I'm a former victim of them myself. So, don't believe anyone or any websites claiming they can "help" you to "recover" the money. There's no way to do that except hacking or accessing the Coinbase platform or Server which is of course nearly impossible and extremely illegal.

The best thing you can do right now is to prepare proofs and documents to show them that you're the real owner of the account and number. For example your id card, passport or any other documents and be ready for KYC or AML verification with live Face Verification. And then try contacting the Verizon Career and Support team and the Coinbase support team too. Even better if you can visit the office in-person and explain the issue.

If they see convincing proofs and can confirm the authenticity of your claims that you're the real owner of the account, they might provide the information or at least update the information with your current Mobile number and documents.

And again, please for your own sake, don't go to any peoppe or any websites even if they claim to be "legit." The only way you can recover your account and money is through the official recovery process and contacts.

You don't "Need Modules" to run python.
If you need to do a task that doesn't have any built in function, or where the built-in function isn't enough, then you can pip install your requirements. Preferably within a Virtual Environment. VSCode lets you set up these virtual environments pretty easily, but so do other programs like PyCharm.

Just remember that virtual environments are not transferrable. So if you build something where you needed 5 pip packages or whatever, make sure you look up how to use and make a requirements.txt file. That will allow you to give a list of what you do use to someone else(or move it to a different computer), and they can set up their virtual environment the same way.

For any "in-app settings", I use JSON for everything.
The args and ENV are only for "runtime arguments" that are required, OR secrets with ENV

For example, a docker app i am working on to manage docker on a machine(for personal use)

i can launch it with --gui or --web depending on if i am physically on the machine, or if its a server remote somewhere

i don't see a reason to move that to any other config system, as it works really well when running it manually, as well as i can make the docker only use --web

I am not as familiar with android, but for my cousin, we set up an opnsense VPN with PPPoE passthrough, and used that as a "VPN" for his phone.
Then on the opnsense, you can connect it to proton or whatever you want upstream. That way, you have a "Firewall Device" that can process the blocking of traffic.

If you didn't have to worry about your phone, popular options would be something like a pihole, or just running unbound locally.

You flash the live usb. It fills up partitions for this exact installation to 100%.
If you set up persistence then, it will allow you to use the rest of the flash drive "as if" it were a hard drive.. saving stuff, updating stuff.

But

What really happens is not that old tools and libraries and whatnot get replaced by the update.. the old versions "stay". It just notices that newer files are available and will through several read/write procedures look up what it is supposed to use now.

This is done for every single component of your linux installations.. IF you update it.. then lots and lots of simultaneous read-processes clog up the bottle neck of your usb port

The live usb is NOT meant as a "just as good" replacement. It is best thought of as an "emergency linux in case you need it". Dont try to use it like you would use a VM or bare metal installation, or you will run into this situation.

If its a web-based game, then you would have to learn web development, understand how web servers and such work, and understand what part of the code actually runs client-side.
If its not a web-based game, then you would need to understand the engine it is using. And be able to read the C++/C#/Java code its made in. If its a freely available engine, then you can try making a game in the engine.

But this assumes you already have at least an intermediate proficiency in Programming already. Otherwise, you should start with learning Programming first.

I need some advice from someone who works in pentests , I have failed an internship in the last "round" as an ethical hacker after a 13 pages test , HR interview and tehnical interview with live hacking. They provided with some feedback but I feel like i missed the train XD my question is: How do I improve my porfolio for web/net pentests. Should i just write reports for some boxes i do?

Well basically i passed all tests but i wasn't selected in the end ( limited spots) . They said to add more work in my portofolio regarding webapp pentesting and related to owasp top 10 ( i was thinking making reports for every single thing in owasp top 10 as examples in my portfolio)

Hi so I got a dream job and I know I want to be in cybersec. But I still can't figure out wich role fits me. Im like still a minor but I got a clear vision. When I finished school in gonna go and become an IT Specialist/Systems Integration but I want to specifically go into cybersecurity because its just my dream. Since you're still a minor learn to become sys admin first ie learn the skills required to become one and learn about networking along with c++, python bash and build some cool meaning ful projects this well server u as ur foundational base. Then try to dig deep into cybersec and find out which field u wanna purse

Infosec/Cybersec is simply not an entry level field. I now you think differently - the younglings always do. But you are both underestimating the necessary experience as well as employers intention to give the job to someone not qualified and seasoned enough

My usual advice - if you couldn't get and hold a stable job as an IT admin - then don't bother
