There is not much of a guidance tho. You could do blue team specific certs like the BTL1 or BTL2 You also have the OSCP which should already give you the rough idea what the most common attack vectors are.
For training you can do stuff from LetsDefend which is a dedicated platform for blue team stuff like malware analysis, DFIR, SOC Analyst and detection engineer.

So upgrading hardware can be restrictive based on the device. Your best bet will be to add ram to help with performance. If possible 32gb is the modern baseline. CPU swapping can be very difficult if it's soldered to the board + the socket type the board can allow.
Replacement of any HDD hard drives with SSD harddrives can help greatly with speeds as well.

Generally for laptops memory and drives are the 2 accessible swappable parts. Memory though can be made not an option if your laptop manufacturer soldered it to the board.

Based on the system overall all is good, its just the processor that will not allow me to move forward with new system updates after October 2025. The update is asking for 1 GHz or better, which doesn't make sense since the current processor is 2.5.

I will look into upgrading the ram for sure.

October 2025 is the end of life date of Windows 10. Your laptop will need to qualify for windows 11 which is where I'm guessing you are seeing this error.

I even got an e-mail from microsoft. I've had my laptop for sometime and it works for me. They are getting so pricy that it makes you second guess especially these days.

Was it the 1ghz setting that failed on the tool. If so was that the only setting that failed.

I'm guessing looking at the w11 requirements that the CPU will be your hard blocker in this. You will need to probably upgrade the laptop to a new model since CPU swapping will not be an option generally. You can always turn it into a Linux machine

Paid is generally just a more formalized learning structure or material. You can learn most things on your own but it's not going to have the step by step structure of paid content
