Create a virtual environment using python3 -m venv path/to/venv. Then use path/to/venv/bin/python and path/to/venv/bin/pip. Make sure you have pypy3-venv installed.

1. First do sudo python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt in the directory of the py program you're trying to run if you haven't already. If that doesn't work proceed:
2. Do sudo apt install python3 virtualenv
3. cd Desktop to install virtual env on desktop
4. Then do virtualenv routersploit_env
5. Then do cd routersploit_env
6. Then source bin/activate
7. Then cd .. to go back to desktop
8. Then go into the directory for whatever you're trying to run/use with cd (your file path)
9. Then sudo bash whatever you're trying to install again e.g. sudo bash install.sh as an example
10. Try do sudo python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt again and it should work
11. Then try run your py file.

Hi everyone. Very new to all this stuff. Been messing around with hack the box stuff, mostly the very easy CTF. Unfortunately I have a MacBook, so I couldn’t complete the one I started, which from my understanding, is due to the OS. Is my best bet just getting a different laptop to work on them? Is having a Mac going to be a big challenge as I progress through the challenges?

Or I am I stupid and just need to find a different route to get the flag

I suppose? That was all new to me too and wasn’t quite sure how to work it. Don’t you get a very limited amount of time on that without paying?

I looked into a VM briefly. I’ve never set one up and it seemed a bit overwhelming (I’m very new to tech related thing). I had the command I needed to get the password for the flag, but when I ran it in the terminal it kept giving me an error. Did a ton of googling and was told if I get the error I received, it meant the command wasn’t compatible with the OS. Something along those lines. I’d have to go back to see the error. It was wa few weeks ago and haven’t been able to try any other CTF since then

so if you want the way of doing it you'll need to set it as a static disk. so either start over with one OR you boot another VM with disk cloning software, you load 2 extra disks 1 the dynamic 1 the static and you clone the dynamic to the static. You could try to use 3uTools for windows to fully wipe the device back to its factory settings. That way you can sign in with your icloud instead of it being locked by the previous owner.

3uTools is basically the Go-To toolbox for iOS users, ive mainly used it to experiment with my old iPhones and jailbreak it.

Well, the best machine for cyber security should be the one that is completely separate from your personal one. But I believe Thinkpad is good, which you can install any Linux distro with the mininum specs required. If you want the honest opinion buy something you can run VM's on so you can practice before going bare metal. I would recommend spinning a free AWS and running a proxy through it as a jump box. It can help hide your IP. That and put the IP for the jump behind a domain name to make it easier to give out and look better (domain's are cheap). You can contact your ISP to rotate your IP address as well.

Yea these infections are pretty AV resistant as they will hijack services for persistence and set startup regkeys. Since they were executed through RUN by the user it's usually elevated and bypasses most behavior based AV checks.
