My account was immediately disabled and I’ve been struggling to verify since then.

I was able to successfully change my password but for some reason when I tried to verify that it’s me was me, I kept getting an error message even tho I was receiving the code on my phone.

okay i need help understanding something about dns.

Now lets say if i want to brute for the vhost of a system i put in the ip or the host name it doesnt work (gobuster vhost -u <ip> - w blah balh --append domain)

but when when that ip and the host name is added to my etc/hosts file it works

my question here is if its missing in ur host folder since dns normally check local host first before going to the dns server

why would it lead to an error when the ip and name of the domain

vhost is different to dns. So for dns it doesn't matter since the dns server will resolve the ip for you and vice versa. If you type an ip it also knows the domain. Vhosts have an ip but if you don't set up your host file they will not be able to search for potential vhosts. If you type the domain into gobuster it will resolve a different ip. Therefore you need the host file set up beforehand.
