Mmkay the new creative mode looks quite good once you get into it. I was literally just asking about a better character consistency mode this morning and the character reference works pretty well. Were all the old finetuned models rolled into the new mode? Specific stuff like Dreamshaper, which I often used. Do we just tune that through style references now?

those models, as far as I'm aware, are not yet accessible on the new User Interface. you'll need to swap to legacy mode to use those for now

Okay ty. The new mode is really impressive once you dig into it. Overall cost seems higher though, maybe that's just due to the models being used.

But I can see myself using fewer tokens overall given a higher rate of useable outputs

So that's not a complaint, just an observation

no thats its own reasons. being worked on. personally i dont believe they intended to make things more expensive. its just that you cant choose as small resolutions as were standard in the legacy mode. hence the higher cost..

but again. its brand new. there's always bumps to stomp out

From what I understand from Mark, we’ll actually often see better results at the larger sizes. The recommended sizes had previously been a bit too conservative in the estimates

The AI has the ability to excel at these larger sizes so we don’t need to be limited only to small images

Thanks Pookah, after I wrote the message, I thought it was larger because Alchemy increased, but I tested it on the old site (no alchemy), reset it to 1024x1024, went back to the new site and the image size went back up. Having wasted all that time typing everything here on discord, you replied and answered everything I needed to know. Thanks Pookah!!!

heya. a lot of people are quite happy with it. but there are also an equal amount of people skeptical and unhappy with it. For now the negatives are primarily due to (still) missing features. I'm curious how the feedback will be when everything is included.

Personally I feel the new UI should have been the optional beginners mode. instead of making legacy mode the optional one.. 🤔

honestly I'm trying to figure out if the positives are just 'oh, new thing, shiny!' or honest thoughts that its good.. 🤔 hard to tell sometimes

I like the direction. It really simplifies the options available: makes it more welcoming to new users while hiding more advanced options one click away for experienced users.

I think Presets will be a MAJOR selling point of the new UI 😜

The thing is, the new interface is designed to be good for pros and noobs alike, not just as an "easy" mode. The idea is to make it simpler to use all the power of Leonardo without getting lost in menus and toggles.

Is there anything in particular you are concerned about re missing features?

• Multiple style reference (single style only right now)

After that:

• Custom presets
• Sharing custom presets publicly
• Style browser / sharing of styles

Perhaps we should break out the resolution toggle to the main menu, instead of hiding it within the aspect ratio menu.

and yes, as the others said. the pre-set resolutions are unfortunately all larger than the ones in legacy mode. so users are unfortunately charged with higher token costs with no way to avoid that.

and personally i feel like a 'None' preset is missing. some users dont know what they wanna generate right away, they just wanna mess with all settings until happy 🤔

ok something regarding the new Leonardo update that bothers me - when you leave the Image Creation page, it resets to its own default... back then it used to stay where you left off, at least with the prompt. I would love it if there was an option to save your default for yourself including the prompt, all the image refs you selected settings, and everything so that when you come back, you can keep going instead of having to set everything up again.

Besides that, there should also be an option to select "Reset all" for things to go back into the default, instantly resetting the prompts, models, and everything for you to start over ^^

which of the upscaler modes are you using and at which strength? I found that some of them do indeed make people look older. wrinkles and such.. and the higher the strength, the more it changes the face and adds makeup i dont want.. its all about finding the mode and strength you like most.

Heya! So there's a lot of confusion about how AI training happens. Basically, what makes it AI is that it learns to "see" the training images, rather than actually assimilating them.

It's akin to a human learning to see and appreciate art. The training images get analyzed and turned into 3d blocks of numbers, and then the AI learns to recognize patterns in those numbers, by performing math and testing itself to see if it has improved its understanding of the image. (It's a bit like the optometrist saying "better or worse?" as they try different lenses).

So the AI doesn't actually copy any image, but rather it learns a prodigious amount of descriptions of all aspects of art, from simple things like "triangle" and "teal" to gradually more complex concepts like "nose", "house", "impasto", "vitreous flux", and so on.

Artists' names and art movements form a kind of shorthand for the traits, themes, concepts that tend to appear frequently in their art. The AI is always trying to detect patterns and describe them, so these patterns will be evident in the end result. But at no point is it ever copying a source image, but rather analyzing an image and learning what the image means.

I keep wanting to do a video or even a podcast on the subject, because it's absolutely brilliant, the method that was created to allow the AI to teach itself, out of nothing.

An image like that makes me feel like it was copied and not created, or created using copying much like when we cut out images from magazines to make a collage. Maybe you or someone else might have some more insight into that aspect of it, which is my biggest concern as it would definitely lead to a lawsuit.

On a separate but related topic, I would have attached the photo directly, but for some reason my only option on the desktop version and my mobile phone app is to "create a poll" whereas in the past I was able to upload images on here. Is there some setting I need to toggle? I don't use Discord at all and only got on here once to post some art many months ago and was able to upload an image into a post no problem, but now I don't seem to have that option - yet I see others doing so. Thanks in advance for any advice on that as well 🙂

I can see how it would give that impression, but actually the AI has just learned that a certain style of image has writing, and tries to copy it. That's why the writing is usually unintelligible, because just like a kid looking at letter before they can read, the AI recognizes what letters look like, but can't write them out correctly or read them. As the models are fine-tuned over and again, they've gotten much better at text, so that you can prompt an XL model for a short word or phrase and have it appear in the image, often. But it's still learning, and doesn't do well with smaller text. Again, like a child reading an early picture book. That will change, but it is an indication of how it is copying patterns rather than images themselves.

If they are public, we should be able to find them, right? Thanks for helping me with my ignorance, I just want to be triple safe rather than sorry and I'm sure everyone can understand and appreciate that. If I drew a certain pair of shoes like let's say Marty McFly's from "Back to the Future 2" and then months or years later I saw someone with AI generated work that replicated the exact same angle, color scheme, shading, art style, etc. I would definitely raise an eyebrow and maybe a stink. Even though genres like "anime" might have their own broad type of style (versus, say, "Disney" animation), there are still differences in artists' styles that allow me to differentiate between let's say Jim Lee drawing Wolverine versus Rob Liefeld drawing Wolverine. If that makes sense.
