Hey All! I’m just thinking about an equation to help measure an opponents threat

Below is what I thought might be worth trying. It is not tested yet, so might have bugs, but it’s a start.

Has anyone done something similar to share?

ESTIMATING THE ENEMIES TRUE STRENGTH

We can easily guestimate how dangerous each tribe could be.

The weightings and theory I’m using are just a wrough guesstimation. But the result should be more accurate and reflective anyway then just looking at overall tribe and kingdom power/might.

Takes someone with an MS Excel spreadsheet and a couple of hours of data entry to do 🙂

From the below, we can plan battles that best suit us and not the enemy… real basic statistics can help if someone has the time and effort to do them, as it helps stop biased understandings and decisions.

ESTIMATING THE ENEMIES TRUE STRENGTH

Possible equation to use:

(Noting, the below example would be for a KvK with 3 kingdoms as allied enemies. Also, this is off the top of my head, so I haven’t tried running it to check for issues.)

Kingdom Threat rating = [(Kingdom overall point size/((number of whales * weighting)+(number of middle order players * weighting)+(number of small players * weighting))* (War Leadership Power * timezone factor * surprise attack factor)] + (0.8 * Other Kingdom) + (0.8 * Other Kingdom)

Where,

“war leadership power” weighting using KvK and BOR rankings to guess leaderships strategic, morale and other advantageous knowledge, skills and abilities. Values could be between 0-2. 0 meaning absolute Kingdom internal chaos and anarchy, and 2 meaning leaders that have a strong history of never being beaten in a battle with their players willing to fight to the death.

“timezone factor” as a separate factor that can be applied when they are likely awake/asleep at 0-1. 0 being fast asleep and only one culture/timezone (like all Russian, or all Chinese, or all American, etc.), 1 being awake at the same time and at the beginning of the attack, and applied to all kingdoms

“surprise attack factor” is either 0.5 for an initial complete and organised surprise attack to 1 for no surprise at all.

“Other Kingdom” = another kingdom’s Kingdom Threat rating and any kingdom that actively is an ally of the enemy or us at “+ (0.8 * Other Kingdom)” per kingdom. “0.8” multiplier since organising between kingdoms is never perfect. You can adapt, like “- (1.5 * Other Kingdom)” could be a Kingdom that betrays their ally during battle, since betrayal impacts things like planned strategy and morale.

Farm accounts aren’t counted, unless they are used in battle. Some whales use multiple cities at once with multiple drivers (people with their logins), so these “farms accounts” are counted

Player weightings (based on a kingdom who has just finished KvK1):

• whales a weighting of x5 (at present maybe 60+ million power; since they can take on 1-10 players at once),
• middle order players a weighting of x1.5 (about 30-60million power; since they are able to take on 1-3 players at once),
• small players a weighting of x0.5 (less then 30million power; since they need to be in teams to take on mean average sized players)

Basic mean average Kingdom weighting = (Player weighting + Player weighting + … + Player weighting + Player weighting)/total amount of active players

• Farm accounts aren’t counted, unless they are used in battle. Some whales use multiple cities at once with multiple drivers (people with their logins), so these “farms accounts” are counted
• The mean average Kingdom weighting isn’t used in the Kingdom Threat rating equation. In the Kingdom Threat rating, the Player ratings are broken into power classes (groupings) for improved accuracy in real time calculations (eg. since some players could be unable to join a war, like if we are told a key enemy player is on holiday). Nevertheless, the mean average can be used to gain a general understanding of a rivals potential threat weighting (as a rival’s strength can be subject to its players availability at the time of battle; this is similar to timezone factors, but not exactly the same, so it needs to be treated independently). Also, these power class values will change with competing kingdom’s growth (eg. a Whale now may be defined about 60+ million, but in the future this will be too small and will need amending to suit).

Note, the above could be adapted for BOR… in BOR there is no surprise attack, no timezone factors, and the specific players participation will also change the rating

Confounding factors will have an impact. Such as, the age of a kingdom will have an impact not shown in the Kingdom Threat ratings. Because, older kingdom’s players are likely have had more time gaining experience with their team, in acquiring better heroes, and so on. This adds to the error margins. Nevertheless, the rating is only meant to be a rough guide.

Finally, after the Kingdom Threat ratings should be worked out initially for past opponents we have faced in BOR and KvK, so we can compare past experiences to create a usable scale to apply the generated values against. Future opponents can be assessed using this scale as a guide 🙂

Anyway, if you have a maths nerds around, get them to give is a try and share 🙂

Any suggestions on what could be added and changed in it please mention.

Noting, Weightings and some other numbers are arbitrary and just based on experience and a Kingdom who just finished KvK1. So all may/will need playing with, especially as kingdoms grow and move into higher KvK’s (eg. A whale in KvK1 is a lot smaller then a whale in KvK2+, so the whale, middle order and small player definitions will need to be adapted as the KvK cohort of kingdoms changes and grows

And for other kingdoms I only have it set to track top 100 might and their increases, but can’t have it to the rest without the info

I think the critical thing to remember is players become very predictable, so once it is established what I called a potential “war leadership power” then this has some stability through time. There are too many other factors influencing this, but I am looking more at basic probabilities, then viewed and adapted by an experienced eye

ofc many people use anti-scout and will transfer rss during kvks. But keep an eye on the enemies resources, before/after fights or throughout the kvk
See how much of their body has run out of resources at a certain point and become potion gamers

I’ve got my “war leadership power” split into an avg of multiple categories, (spending load, rally strength, single combat strength and teamwork) each category up to 5 with decimal intervals which equals a players theoretical war power

Then things like Timezone, resource access, reinforcement strength all minus from that score

Also their troop capacities and T increase the multiplier as well, for kvk1 it was 0,0.5,0.7,1,1.5,1.8,2x depending on which Tier they had access to which would prolong their survivability and capability of carrying combat

I’ll see if I have any old demo sheet you can have and see, but can’t provide the live one as it has stats for 497-506 which is too much to give 🤣

Also I don’t use bor as a metric for success at all, rewards are terrible, many don’t try due to the amount of speed ups it wastes, but also in our bracket, everyone avoided 1400 because of htx, 1600 because of 499, and there were clans in god of war with 3 wins and 5 walkovers, even if you can see the scores it isn’t a reflection of how they played or fought. Things happen. For example we allied with 505 against 516 after you guys allied with 516 to make us 4th, we made 516 4th and due to this 505 came second and we came first. To make it fair, we matched against 505 again and we told them we will give them 1st because they did us a favour with 516 and we wanted to give a gesture of good will and respect (winning did nothing for us anyway)

And when I told my people we were giving them 1st and we would take second, many didn’t show up, including me, and then we wake up to be 4th because 505 decided to ally with 506 despite us offering them 1st

But none of that context is there when you see bor results

And then straight after that, we matched with them again and annihilated them haha

But with no context except the results, it just looks like we only won 5 times by a landslide, came 4th 4 times and lost by a landslide, therefore must be mediocre

When in reality, we knew that it didn’t matter if you were 1st or 2nd it increased points and it didn’t matter where you were in the leaderboard a long as you had “god of war” you got the same rewards

So many of the times, we simply played for 2nd so we didn’t waste speed ups fighting for no reason

The rolling avg is kinda funny though, cuz I’ve done the math, we are stronger than k500s top 100 but because I put a ban on everyone growing where possible the moment the update came out, out rolling stats are updating a lot slower for out kingdom compared to theirs so they are 800m higher than us but we are beating them in current might so there is a high chance they don’t get a migration and we get 100 🤣🤣

And even if they decrease now, rolling 120 days, we only started pumping out players 3 days ago so it’ll take a good 118 days before it shows on the stats 🤣

Moral of story I suppose is to trickle your money into the game and don’t blast it so quickly cuz the stats get skewed lol

I want to be upfront — I have history with 485, and right now they’re running a lot of smear campaigns. I’d like to give you the view from my side so it’s not one-sided.

When KVK1 started, we originally talked with 485 about being allies. They agreed at first, saying we’d work out details when KVK began. But as soon as it started, they told us they had no interest in allying and instead wanted to fight and zero us. We pushed back, and in response one of their members started displaying a swastika. When we asked if that was really how they wanted to represent themselves, the rest of their team stood behind it and said they supported his choice. At that point, we wanted nothing more to do with them — some things are more important than a game.

That situation clearly made them angry, and they’ve continued provoking since. Cip and I went up against their entire team 1 vs 1 and tried to keep things respectful, humble, and focused on the game when we beat them in the 1v1s, but it was only met with name-calling and disrespect.

In the end, we looked at different servers and chose 489 because of the structure and culture — everyone matters here. 489 truly has a great team and displays respect to all who earn it.

You’re all free to form your own opinions, but I don’t want this to become one-sided. In the long run, the truth will show itself. This is a war game — we’ll keep it about the game and remain respectful about anything outside of it. After all, we all live real lives and play for fun, to escape, and to enjoy ourselves.

Some kingdoms had very serious kvks, some had very light ones. Players also differ based on what they like.. I dont know if its possible to satisfy all - but if 60 days is not enough how more needed? In reality, many KvK end way earlier than formal end date... so 60 days become 90 days or so.. then you forget why do you even login..

Just think about what you are playing this game for, now there is such a level of play that even an ordinary player has enough resources and means to play comfortably.

I'm one of those full-on fighters in KvK. I think a lot of people here can attest to that.

My issue is this - if KvK match making continues to be based off kingdom power - then the devs should follow their own set of rules and allow kingdoms to adjust power based on that set of rules - one of which is the 60-day logged out, no longer part of kingdom power rule.

There are a lot of mistakes in the game, and you just have to put up with some of them, so let's keep having fun, it's still a war game, and all we do on the kingdom map is waste our time.

At least let those that are no longer part of the kingdom - not be part of the following matchmaking criteria. So schedule KvKs with more than 60 day gaps or reduce the time that logged out players make-up the kingdom power

Matchmaking based on pure power is not a very smart way - there are so many others stats available.. Why it is so hard to change? or what is the reason not to? Better matchmaking is one of the things where everyone benefits including game owners... it is a puzzle
