As someone who mostly did Colossus last wipe and this wipe, Colossus arena is honestly horrible if you are not a melee character. For one thing, since Colossus is an aoe-slop boss, cutting through the middle to run away from people places significantly more danger on you than say, ghost king, whos attacks are almost exclusively hitscan and can be easily dodged by jumping. This forces you to take un-optimal lines when kiting melee characters, meaning they will eventually catch you since their hp pool can facilitate higher risk playstyles. The elevator having a longer travel time than the stone door opening means you can't kite either as they have time to open the stone door and pull the lever before you have time to get back up top.

Essentially, fighting the boss as a ranged anything puts you into a killbox unless you plainly out-gear someone.

I can agree the anti-third party mechanics of Colossus are good, after over a hundred HR kills of that boss and running it on multiple different characters, I'm just genuinely so disappointed that dozens of people have given great feedback about how horrible the arena is (for anything not barbarian or demonlock, and if people don't believe me I genuinely encourage them to go down there and see the class distribution for yourself) and how Ironmace has done, literally, zero about it.

Even just the floor in general is so bare bones, we STILL don't have a key room key even after Terry acknowledged it on a QnA. The miner merchant did nothing at all last wipe, I don't think it even gave a quest item, so there was (maybe still is?) functionally no reason to go down to Fire Deep EXCEPT to mine Obsidian (tear presumably will do nothing like how Manta Ray egg does nothing). The mushrooms do nothing either. All of these things just result in Fire Deep being a worthless floor except for beelining the boss.

I walk into a massive boss arena in Ruins like:

Then Crypts spawns another boss room just to remind me the game remembers bosses exist even if I’m apparently not allowed to fight them anymore.

I’ve started treating empty boss rooms in Squire Royale like memorial sites.

Ruins arena? Moment of silence.
Crypts arena? Moment of silence.

spawn naked → get hunted by trios → extract gear → realize the gear has absolutely no future → repeat until mentally dissolved.

ongsword will make me quit this game

Whenever I have the slightest urge of playing the game, it vanishes at my first game of encountering a longsword fighter. It's crazy that I have no problem with any other weapon in the game as this one.

It's not about it's damage or ripostle damage or anything. Nerfing that will never change what's wrong with this weapon.

What I care is blocking with longsword requires no skill. They just press right click and look at you and the game does the rest. They will attack you once or twice if they feel generous than start pressing right click extremely skillfully, crouch and look towards your weapon. With some of the weapons and how they attack, it's nearly guaranteed that your weapons some part will touch theirs at some point in the fight, and it only needs to touch it once.

Like is it too hard to make blocking TIME based instead of positional in a game where you can't choose the way you are attacking from? With some weapons animations it's nearly impossible to not hit their weapon if they have more than 2 brain cells.

In my opinion blocking should require YOU to be skillfull and place good timed blocks and should have a counter play in return where also you can reblock it and return it back.

I remember getting excited when I saw another longsword user in dungeonborne because the fight was guaranteed to show some skill if I lost to them. The parries required timing and you had CHARGE ATTACKS to break through their blocks (which was also parriable just harder).

Conculusion after my rant;

I know the devs are not going to change blocking mechanics with how much they love positional blocking. It would take years anyway with this development speed. So, just give weapons charge attacks which go through shields/parries but that is bad DPS wise and has to be charged and has some counter play in return. Or just make blocking TIME based, shouldn't be that hard
