The (regular) slime's AoE is only after a basic attack (iirc - based on Faustian).
To avoid (or mitigate) taking Fire AoE damage from the Fire Slimes, use the Dwarven shrines for Fire Protection, or keep your distance, one attack at a time to avoid slowing yourself down too much.

And last but not least. solo pvp cuz item value in PVE is horrible. just stick to the outer parts of the map, avoid ppl, fill your bags, dip, rinse and repeat. and figuring out where the jewelry and valuable like that are helps a lot too

The range is actually decent. But you're gonna wanna curse them as fast as possible and max range. Lower there hp. Scare them and make them heal. Then you can curse again, or get distance. Use the terrain and mobs and other things.

Yeah that HVCI thing is usually Windows security (memory integrity) messing with the game anti cheat. Try turning it off and restarting it. That usually fixes it

Did you play deadlock perhaps? There's invisibility mechanic that makes you kinda translucent but still hard to spot, I think it would fit very well

High action speed, high hp, high PDR are good with fighter, it scales with magical damage so building additional magic is important
