Title: Nerf Fighters Already – Longsword Is the Most Braindead Crutch in Dark and Darker

I’m saying this as someone who ONLY plays Ranger and Druid, so yeah, I actually have to AIM, POSITION, and THINK instead of holding W and mashing one button.

Fighter is completely out of control right now, and the longsword is the biggest joke of skill expression this game has ever seen.

Oh wow, you parried. Congrats. You pressed right click at chest level and the game played itself for you. The longsword turns every mediocre Fighter into a walking “oops I win” machine. Miss? Doesn’t matter. Bad spacing? Doesn’t matter. Brain turned off? Still doesn’t matter. Just fish for a parry and instantly delete someone who actually outplayed you for 30 seconds straight.

Meanwhile, as Ranger or Druid, I’m:

Managing spacing perfectly

Tracking cooldowns

Using terrain

Landing skillshots

Playing neutral like it’s a fighting game

And what does the Fighter do? Plate armor, infinite sustain, sprint at Mach 5, and accidentally parry my entire kit with one animation. If I make ONE mistake, I’m dead. Fighters can make five and still win because the longsword forgives everything.

The worst part? Fighters act like they’re mechanical gods. Bro, you didn’t “outplay” anyone. The weapon did it for you. Longsword is the Dark and Darker equivalent of training wheels welded onto a tank.

There is zero risk, insane reward, and no meaningful counterplay unless you’re also playing Fighter or abusing the same garbage. This is not healthy for the game. It’s pushing out skill-based classes and rewarding the laziest, most autopilot playstyle imaginable.

Nerf the longsword.
Nerf Fighter survivability.
Or at least make parries require actual timing instead of “face the enemy and pray.”

I’m tired of losing fights I objectively played better just because someone picked the class with the biggest safety net in the game.

There's no justification to this state of longsword, every fuckin class that can run longsword is running longsword because it's just so fuckin broken nothing even comes close to it, every other weapon is hot dogshid compared to longsword, it has a very meagre movement speed penalty of -30 despite being a two hander and doing more damage than MANY TWO HANDED WEAPONS (zweihander (insanely tiny raw damage difference), spear etc.), it needs to have lower base damage and atleast 25% reduced damage on parries, the game is genuinely fuckin unplayable if you're not running longsword, stop coping, this shit is not fuckin balanced nor fair, look around you, everyone and their mother is running longsword FOR A REASON. Hey guys, does anyone know anything? They used to have a feature where you'd kill everyone on the first floor, but when you went down to the second floor, you'd appear in a new lobby with new people. Some say that feature was removed, and now, like before, you play in an empty lobby if you killed everyone on the first floor, or is there still a feature where new people join the lobby and you spawn next to/farther away from them?

Yesterday my teammate and I killed a squad in Ruins, went down, and ran into the same squad and killed them again. If you died in a match, you aren't supposed to be able to rejoin that match, but going down seems to eliminate that.

I think that is purely preference, but you’re valid to feel how you do. I personally like seeing people on the lower levels more, so I don’t mind how things are. It’s a chance for better loot than the players on the first level.
