i work nights and already own my home so i work extreme part time. i had mo time in my day to test this, and the game is on its way out the door sadly. devs over here mo concerne about how well they play theyre favorite class. meanwhile unconcerned about the over all health of theyre game

The “poor decisions” in question aren’t what has made you lose enjoyment, it’s that you have played out virtually every scenario the game has to offer so you are bored. People call back to the “golden days of the playtests!!!” As if 95% PDR fighter and 30 true damage rogue was “good development”. Like no brother, the game was NOT in a better state back then, you just miss what it FELT LIKE to play the game back then when everything was new to everyone. Now there’s metas, advanced combat techniques, etc.

They need to make a tutorial for new players. Not a “tome of knowledge”. But a little 5 minute dungeon experience that explains gameplay mechanics. This game struggles with new player retention because it’s so “hardcore”, and that worked when everyone was learning the game at the same time, but now 95% of the players have 500+ hours so these new players need an opportunity to catch up or they’ll uninstall after two games. Also put the game on gamepass or something

The game is in its death throes after the solo mode was removed, and now, after a while, all players have switched to the Druid class because it's the strongest, fastest moving, and quickest to escape in unfavorable situations, and it heals incredibly fast. If the Druid class hadn't been removed, Season 8 would simply be a clean shard reset, nothing new, just like the current state. The equipment is too powerful and too easy to obtain, making the game even more boring. Even if the drop rate is reduced, there are still ways for players to find it within a day of a full reset.

Barb and fighter are mostly melee fighters that require getting into melee range, thats why theyre given sprint and mediocre heals. Its a ranged vs melee design philosophy. They also do not have a get out of jail free card. Phantomize should not exist

In the glory days, I was still dungeon delving. I didn’t know the mobs, the maps, I didn’t know what was behind the next door. Once we all played our hearts out and learned everything Dark and Darker had to offer, the environment became less and less of a factor in the variety between matches, and the game drifted closer to where it is now, a fantasy themed Battle Royale. This happened especially quickly due to the content drought we went through. I am not saying that battle royales are bad, but I am saying that it’s just a different style of game than it started as. Arc is still fresh, players haven’t documented every pixel in those maps yet, and if new content keeps coming out, maybe it will keep the fanbase engaged to the point where interesting player interactions (aside from combat) still happen. It is rare to have an interesting player encounter in DaD not counting an interesting fight. Every engagement is a fight, it is a battle royale with player extraction options

I’m not saying classes are perfectly balanced, but I am saying that most classes can do something that seems “broken” by focusing in on two stats. Key word is seems, because in doing so you inevitably open yourself up to losing in some other way.

My demon builds either can’t handle ranged combat or Melee combat, and trying to strike the middle in a way that is consistently viable seems really hard (or maybe I’m just bad).

A 300HP Demon that can full heal outside of demon form in 3 seconds may sound OP, but that just means

1. The demon can’t move fast
2. The demon lacks actual combat damage

What that build was good at was tanking damage for my team, so that those who had actually built combat stats could do the damage. Bear tank is just as if not more viable, same for cleric

To clarify my point: the war against RMT is already lost. In every game I’ve played, they always find a way. That said, I’m not being hypocritical—I genuinely think that in this game, RMT is not a real problem. I would rather fight someone fully geared with uniques who bought that gear with real money than fight another player with the exact same gear who also has the skill and game knowledge to earn it through gameplay.
