To be honest I feel like they just aren’t capable of taking care of a live service game and they should sell to a company that can handle it. I've done a pretty good job of compelling friendly interactions from strangers on a consistent basis. Seeing the game as "a PvP game" because there's PvP in it is part of the problem, the fact that you can hold W and attack everything that moves doesn't mean you have to, all the funniest and most memorable moments I've had in this game came from people talking or roleplaying, dudes setting up skeleton health potion shops or playing music for tips, people rounding up other adventurers to go fight the boss together, folks deciding on their own not to fight the cool people they just met, etc.

Like yea, you can just mindlessly kill everyone you meet, and eventually there won't be anyone left to kill because everyone who isn't a PvP junkie will have bailed and the junkies will get bored of only fighting each other. But if you prioritize the dungeon experience and social functions, you build a much larger community, which ultimately benefits the PvP junkies more than catering to them.

PvE Adventure mode was a mistake, the best interactions were when all the PvP junkies and all the casuals/Timmies were in the same dungeon, you would get a decent mix of people every raid. You could make a friend, fight a couple people, get betrayed by the friend, etc. The closest thing to that now is Squires to Riches.

honestly maybe make the clerics prot spell last longer like it was before (the nerf doesnt make any sense) and make paladins prot spell last a short amount of time while being much better than clerics prot spell

the truth is, cleric in dark and darker is far more paladin than cleric, but other than just having slightly diferent spells, i genuinely dont think there would be notable enough differences to warrent another class

especially when those development resources could be put into other entirely unique classes (monk, artificer, etc.)

It would depend how you design Paladin, I Could see Paladin being a much more “damage prevention” based class, rather than a focus on healing damage he would work on negating it entirely giving ways for his team to stop damage in its tracks

Like, I could imagine him being able to place holy shields that would stop projectiles in its tracks for a certain bit, or giving armor to his team

Or learning more into the AHP overheal, a underutilized aspect of the game

There isn't really a winner. Neither Nexon nor Ironmace got exactly what they wanted. DaD has been ruled as not substantially similar to P3 so no copyright infringement occurred. However, the courts do recognise trade secret infringement occurred and awarded Nexon 3.8 million dollars compensation for it. This is a reduced amount from the initial ruling.

Keep people interested in questing by giving a reward at the end. Each merchant's final task gives ONE singular backpack slot, up to a total of FOUR. PVP players would do it to take out extra gear, regular players would do it for the farm. Everybody wins.

They vastly underestimated how important social functions were. The fighting systems are great, I love the PvP, but you need stuff that creates community so there's more than just the same handful of sweats left at the end. All they had to do was let us queue into the pre-dungeon tavern so we could walk around, talk to people, shake hands to form parties, and then queue up for a real dungeon.
