I don't die to magic classes much at all, when I do I'm usually already low before the fight starts. The fact that you can't dodge has no bearing on me.

BTW, I do great on those classes, because people like you can't take 1 step within 1.5 seconds to not get hit. They rely on a bad opponent, so of course they mostly do well.

Arena can be pvp endgame. Once they actually have rewards / titles / whatever set up for it. I can't really think of a better pvp endgame, even though it still needs a ton of work.

PvE endgame needs to be changed up season to season. New bosses. Complicated ones. Really good loot. Artifacts that you can farm occasionally without running out of time with the heat death of the universe, etc.

I kept track in the first half of the season. Was at a little over 200 HR boss kills (the ones capable of dropping artifacts) and had 1 drop. That's really unlucky, by the statistics, but even so. 3% GK, 1.5% Lich/SWar/Wyvern, 0.75% key rooms, is too low.

10% (like the mini-season) is too high. But there's a middle ground somewhere in there 🤷 I think the developer concept is to err on the side of extreme rarity, something akin to Diablo 2/3. But it doesn't feel right in a pvp game. You can't farm by spamming/resetting a map in DaD.

(That being said) I would offer that 3% is too low, especially when you consider that GK has a very limited set of arties he can drop. And the full range of artifacts are closer to the 1.5% range. And Lich, at least, isn't realistically soloable in HR. Some classes definitely can. It's definitely doable. But it's extremely risky compared to HR GK.

I'd settle for bosses having better "threat" tables in teamplay. The Crypts/Inferno bosses are actually pretty dang ideal with their targeting.

But some bosses get borderline impossible when you add more players. It's good that more =/= immediately easier... but look at Wyvern, for example, where it does the really bizarre half-and-half targeting that is extremely dangerous with even 1 more player in the boss arena.

Originally she was meant to be a 6 player boss fight lol. And she's easily the least friendly to extra players out of any boss.

I've noticed it with Bladehand too, since I learned to solo him consistently yesterday (at least in norms, I assume he's probably not too different in HR).

Pretty straight forward fight after you get used to his attacks. But add in another player? He's disgusting. Like 5x harder.

Wyvern/Bladehand/SKnight/even Cyclops to a degree, do this weird thing when multiple players are in the fight and are damaging the boss. Their attacks stay locked on to the target until a later time. Like they don't just swing at where you were 1-2 seconds ago. They stay swinging at you for a lot longer. Maybe that's kind of vague and doesn't explain it well, but it's hard to explain. They're more accurate. They also will swap attacks mid-combo on a dime.

Wyvern will look at one player, but leap at another. That's the scariest example, tbh.

Yeah, I think you're on the money with distance being important. It's not something I have a 100% grasp on because the boss behavior is so odd... so I'm mostly speculating.

It seems like any boss attack that is coded like this "be at a far range. Walk to a closer range. Start a charging attack." Gets really bugged out with multiple people. Maybe it targets one player and uses the range of another? I'm not sure. But you see it with Wyvern leap, where it will leap at you, but not even go remotely far enough to get close. Or you'll see wyvern look at your friend, actually leap at you, but it will end up kind of going halfsies lol. So it ends up right next to you, between you and your friend. If you're circling the boss that direction you will be screwed.

With boss soloing, any charge attack will always put the boss right next to the player. But with even +1 player in the room, the boss charges can end up in random places with no one nearby, or finishing quite a bit short of where you are, etc.

When you've practiced a boss 100s of times with certain behaviors, small deviations like that can end up getting you killed. Maybe it's a good thing for difficulty... but it's super inconsistent.
