I feel like PVE should be its own gamemode completely split from the PVP aspect of the game (perhaps a opt in when you create a character). this was PVE players can experience the full game in terms of loot (getting legendaries and named items). Limiting the gear that PVE players can get to purple rarity feels like it just isnt the move

The PvE mode on release will be aimed to bring in players for the cooperative experience they envisioned the game to be, and can be expected to bring some basic mechanics of either reduced loot quality, separate stash or otherwise to make sure it doesn't affect the marketplace economy so drastically when the marketplace does actually open up after roughly a month.
The mode will obviously be continued to receive work and balance if loot is too great, too little, if the player experience is at all hindered, etc. to maintain a casual dungeon experience for the players that want to experience it. It won't be released and have work immediately dropped if there are any detrimental issues that conflict with itself or other gamemodes
We will learn a lot more on April 2nd at 9PM EST when the next Tavern Table livestream discusses this PvE gamemode and all the other content coming with the next season

buffs are less powerful but if you learn timing right you can cut down your teammates kills by a swing or two which is ok enough, ik they dont scale as wells as they did but it also means that comps with just A cleric aren't able to steamroll. modern cleric has a high skill floor before your skill starts to change fight dynamics

There used to be a time where multiple classes could compete for the role of best support. There even was a time when 2 support oriented classes were picked for some comps. Now that's way down, and the classes that can still kinda support are being nerfed further. I miss dedicated support wizard and bard. Hell, I'm worried they're going to knock down warlock's supportive side if people ever started to play that, of which so far I think I'm the only one who's tried.

It's a complicated discussion. I didn't enjoy cleric when he was just standing behind the front line and topped him off with every heal. But I still want spells to feel impactful. Something like lesser heal could have something added to it so that it could be still useful even if it had it's scaling lowered.

That would need to be part of the question. Although with the short duration nature of this, I'd say if it's a shield it should be taken off first. If it's damage reduction, I feel like the shields shouldn't take it into account since the shields stop the blows before it hits the player. Unless you're going with a partial shield.

Wizard needs to have his utility spells returned to what they were. Balance them some other way than how they were.

Most spells need better base damage and lower scaling.

Some perks that enable wizard's more utility side to be more interesting should also be considered. Maybe increased duration on buffs and debuffs at the cost of a damage penalty.

I also wish that spells as a whole would have a more standardized number of casts based on the spell level.

Ignite doesn't need more than 5 casts. Make it better. Each spell level should come with a set power budget. Spend that power on different things. It should be 5 casts for everything, level 5 and below. level 6, should have 4 casts with -1 cast per spell above with level 9 spells having a single cast.

There's a couple of ways of playing him but it really feels like pulling teeth, at least compared to what it was before. Personally every spell should feel like it's impactful. As in there should be a case to include every spell in the game for one reason or another.

The timing based seems better due to higher skill expression and ceiling, but is isn't as approachable. Mordhau vs Chivalry is a good example of this already. I also don't particularly like the idea of renown, as it suffers from similar problems to other PvP survival games like rust. The theme is dope but the gameplay is going to be just as much of a let down, I think.

These games suffer from no real rules/moderation. It's remedied by community servers with moderation and rules/limits, but this is still a problem in game design, in my opinion. Time sink is also a large issue, remedied by community servers. I would love to see official servers boosted to 2x with a max team size of 4 or so, but games of this genre never seem to do it. Rust is by far the most popular example, and suffers from all these same issues as well as cheaters.

As frustrating as the Devs can be, I love them and I love the game they’ve created. Stuck with them through thick and thin, from 5,000 player count to 50,000. Even when Barbs get mega buffed for a couple weeks multiple times.
