There is also still some class identity. Your class determines your starting stats and what weapons and armour you can use. In terms of balance this kinda sucks because there's pretty much no reason to ever pick Rogue as your base. I like multiclass but there would need to be massive changes to make it a balanced system.

Multiclass is an issue because perks/stats/skills/proficiency are balanced with each other instead of universally. You just need to shift that view to balance multiclass. Perks should be equalised. Skills should be equalised.

The combination can occur on any class though. That's why specifying the class doesn't make sense. I could play a Sorc and use Warlock and Cleric stuff. So you need to specify the combos. And you can then nerf the combo by nerfing the constituent parts.

Knowledge checks in my view are pretty distinct from skill. It's just applying your existing abilities to new stuff. If you avoid the attacks of basic skeletons you already have the skill required to beat all 8 bosses.

You may not know exactly which movement to apply to each boss attack yet but that is not skill.

A better way to apply it to CS would be comparing the skill aspect which is the basic shooting, movement and aiming skill, and the map knowledge which is the pathways, shooting positions, wall heights, spawns and stuff like that. Like if you put a CS pro on a map they've never played before their skill doesn't change, but they don't know everything about the map.
