@rough umbra Its up to you. Want Low risk high reward? go in with squire gear and try to out-skill a geared player and take his BIS gear. Want to risk gear but give yourself an advantage to incrase your survival chances? Go in with good gear (Id'a recommend rjwelery with +1 all attributes and tru damage, and boots with mvm speed)

I can't remember how I felt in the very beginning of playing, but maybe after 50 hours, idk, I wanted better geared and better players in normals. Now I don't care, I do feel like it could push away new players, but this game is super challenging in the beginning. Any other game I can master pretty easily. Now I'm at 500 hours and it's still challenging haha. It's also super fun and I don't want to play any other game now

Every game i've been in, ive seen a mix of newbs and vets with 700+. Before it was consistently those vets running around stomping newbs and because it was 0-24 no other real vets were in there. There is NEVER going to be a perfect open playing field for all. I hate that as much as you, but it is what it is. Devs might be mentally handicapped but this way i've actually had decent fights with people. Before, if I even saw someone there was a 90% the moment they didn't run I knew I was dead. And that's speaking as someone who just picked this game up last month

I learned how to pvp in <25 lobbies, because I was too scared to lose all my gear in other lobbies. The worst of this patch is more than wealth imbalance, when someone dies in any other mode than <25 you can say "Damn, look at their equipment, they were extremely kitted. Lets go to <25 for a fair fight". <25 was the only fair mode for everyone with no invesment, this just makes it a slog, you either invest that 1500 gold you were saving for another inventory slab in a kit (where you are already at a skill disadvantage) or you just try your luck with squire, and never fight, because now you are at a skill and equipment disadvantage, and serve as cannon fodder.

Conclusion: Ironmace is great at surprises, their incompetence is always surprising

You can't share anything whatsoever. You can't drop loot for others. You can't touch hoard at the same time. 25 was good during the week cause it was just a pvp bloodbath. so filled the void of arena being closed. probably best for the new players it stay closed honestly. less people in normals head on rushing now...yes still are but definitly less so just more geared ones and i think thats the lesser of 2 evils type situation they are figuring out currently.

Yeah I get that, I also totally agree. There should be a place where people can practice and hone their skills without feeling the need to sweat 24/7. I personally am pretty good at the game as I've been playing since alpha, and I don't see the appeal of min/maxing at 124 just to stomp newer/casual players. I did play and enjoy 124 min maxing when there was also a <24 lobby, but now it just feels wrong to do. I did try a few games just to see, and the VAST majority of players I ran into had squire gear / random looted stuff. There's no enjoyment from killing those players knowing they stand no chance. Hope for the community sake they will bring it back!

Not answering as a new player, But when I first started out, I enjoyed normals and HR was for "High rollers, players with the best"
You would be forced to build up an entire purple or higher kit, before attempting to join high roller, loot was 10x as scarce, you'd be lucky to find 1 purple a game unless you were bossing. And there was no marketplace, you had to spam list items in trade hall, so buying anything good was off the table, and traded through hidden discords to keep the best players better geared.
You'd spend an entire week slowly building up a full epic kit to come in and die to a barbarian who was haste invis'd(12 second duration, no afterimages)
running 400+ movement speed from bard buffs.

Now, you can enter normals, open 5 chests and have yourself half a kit already.
So these people that are complaining about small things like this just weren't there to be greatful for what we have today

That is a completely flawed outlook. If something is broken it's broken. It doesn't matter if it's 'better' than it was. This is the main problem with society if we are gong to be real here. People look at America and say it's the free-est society and we should be happy. i really didnt mind havbing a choice to throw on 124 gear and do those lobbies as we got more confident and then if we got a few good raids on prev 124 queue and died wed say wanna go back to chill runs on <24 and gear up again and so on and so forth me and my crew was on like 2nd week of maining this game and the removal of 24 just felt like a mssive f you and forcing us to playthe item meta slave playstyle which made us all quit way back when theres an oversaturation of bis gear shame aswell cause crew was having alot of fun didnt have crazy time to sink into it either was a nice balance didnt care that ppl fought more in sub 24 infact liked it ment more pvp practice and more confidence to run 124>

Then that cleric, Plays carefully, doesn't bury their faces into chests and pull hoardes of monsters, you play slow, steady, near escapes, you don't be aggressive, you crouch at people in chances they walk the other way(doesn't mean crouch and let them walk towards you) until you build yourself up a kit, the dungeon is a scary place, you should expect danger at every turn, stand still, volume up, and listen near every door, should I enter? Im a cleric, I hear a ranger, I will probably be shot from range, I need to play around closer corners so this ranger can't shoot me from afar.. you do something called playing with your brain and not just play the game like its a looter and you're on autopilot.

That's why dark and darker is so fun, the learning curve is essential, are you gonna cry in general "barbs so strong nerf barb" or are you gonna say how can I play that better next time, even when all odds are against me, what can I do to survive. Because no 2 games will be the exact same unless you make it that way, dungeons being randomized now, different routes, different mobs that can change fights

I actually might be convinced that those who are against <24 lobbies returning, are the people that minmax at 124 but can't kill other players that also minmax at 124, they can only kill the new players / squire geared players and get their enjoyment from that. The point of sub 124 is to act like a battle royale, you enter, and have a purpose for looting chests, the more you loot the more chances you have at having better gear, you can invest a little into it, (124gs worth) and then you must find the rest.

In high roller, most players enter with a pre-purchased kit head to toe, and run to specific player spawns with the intention of outright cornering the person and destroying them, claiming a free kit and selling, to repeat.
I do this all day, and it's boring, I actually have stopped playing with my team as much to play with casual players as the time is just much more enjoyable. the fights are chaotic with no brains involved people just enjoy there time loot some chests break some boxes and maybe we die and we go back in to zero to hero, its a much funner experience, even if i have skull keys and named items I could give them to boost them to high roller, I know they won't enjoy the experience as much as they are now in timmyland.
