Yes you can do that. He has a specific ground slamming pattern though if you want to know it:

straight, left, right, straight
this is repeated (so he'd do straight twice in a row)

Basic strategy will just be stay behind him, "advanced" strategy would be going for head shots while dodging his slam pattern

Cyclops is great, telegraphed easy to read animations and audio 10/10 fight you can spend a good protion of the time attacking him, great fight.

Troll is, poke and run or duck and I hate duckign as a combat mechanic, not only that cyclops has very few one hit kills and they're heavily telegraphed, most of CT is either a one hit kill or a slow that leads to one

aw man, and im assuming youve already verified the files integrity too if its gone on for this long. there are a couple options though you COULD try??

1: see if you can update your network driver? ( ive never done this myself, ive never had to but it is an option)
2: attempt a login by running the game as administrator. right click dark and darker in your steam. choose properties and find the "Browse files" option. find dungeoncrawler.exe and run as administrator.
3: you could disable the windows firewall temporarily before you try to log in and if it doesnt work then either turn it back on manually if it wont do it itself automatically.

I can see your complaint on this. Kinda needed to be this way though as barbs are supposed to be frontlines along with fighters, but had no way to frontline with certain things.

Iron will plus no pushback helps to contend against the dps that kites them.
