To be honest, I think people are thinking too short of the game, surely it was not wise to change the game mid wipe, but I begin to think that a change like this was needed to transition the game into a better state. It's not welcoming for new players which is problematic if you want to expand your playerbase. Surely, they wish to keep their playerbase, but I don't think SDF's vision is to have a playerbase of 20k players sitting home and cooming on the game 8 hrs+ per day on average to gain a competetive advantage. The vision is to make the game big, which is something we should understand that is in the best interest of being a game developer.

-Rogue should be Z tier always or removed
-Games not offering a "black screen" Flash bang option should be considered war crimes

Mmmm I don't understand what you mean by the 2nd take but the other two i completely disagree with lol, but atleast we can be rational about it. I think that gear should still matter just maybe not as much as it did before patch 69. I thought the gear squish would be exactly that. A squish making them much closer to each other with higher rarities still having the edge over lower ones. This was a fucking stat flatten that completely nullified the effectiveness of gear in a extraction looter. Now there is only purpose in pvp rather than both pvp and pve.

I like more PVP focus but its right that you can just play chiv then. What I meant was flashbang nades in every game turning my ultrawide screen into an eyekiller, non dnd related. It's not hard to understand. Making sweeping (and quite honestly foolish) changes all at once is mind-boogling to say the least. If there intent is to lower stat checking and TTK (Time to kill) then squashing stat's down would of made infinitely more sense.

Instead of a stat disparity of 1-7 (how most gear was) they should of just squash down the highest tier (Unique's) to Epic quality (So +5) and change green/blue's to be +3, and epic/legendaries to be +4, so now the leap from green-legendary is 1 stat difference, but legandary has 4 modifier's, where green has 1.

Poor and white quality will mostly be found in sub 25's but even then the disparity between white - Unique would only be 3. Now even if your kitted in full unique. the overall stat difference isn't as enormous.

This would keep higher quality gear more desirable and thus incentivize looting while also making it more viable to win a fight against a more geared opponent.

There is no more zero-hero cuz rn were all hero's. and when were all hero's, no one is.

The ratty stuff just comes with the territory imo and trying to make it all more pvp melee combat is just chivalry or mordhau. Based on things included for example in latest @pulsar ocean and @mortal juniper videos, which are good representatives of DnD playerbase, devs should start listening to the community at this point and revert the patch or even part of the changes that were made on #69. This is impossible. He's confirming this patch wont be voided and that he will continue leading the game in an unsatisfactory direction based on his vision there is no middle ground with his extreme plans for this game. Low ttk, low gear dominance and meta, and easy PVE with no motive to loot. This is an incredibly grand statement that based on his actions thus far he wont be able to back up, just step down and let terry take over until you can figure out an actual plan. Saying this is one thing but actually taking your community into account, having polls based on what your customers want, expressing and testing your ideas before publishing them etc.

1.) The current value of gear is intentional and part of “the vision,” which means “the vision” is terrible for the game.

2.) The current value of gear is not final and a better change is coming soon, which indicates that the developers knowingly pushed an unfinished update that they apparently knew would be terrible.

So that means that either

1.) Ironmace doesn’t know what they are doing and what is good for the game.

Or

2.) Ironmace doesn’t value the time of their players and willingly ruined the game for a week for the sake of breaking a big update into multiple parts for some reason?

The game is going through a major transition, not for the first time, not even for the third time. It's going to suck for awhile and then it will get better. Don't advertise your ignorance, short sightedness, entitlement and immaturity so brazenly like its a flex, it's nauseating.

They have listened to streamers, twitch chats and the first generation of Americans to be less intelligent than the previous WAY too much.

It's a big part of the reason why the player count went DOWN and not up. This game tested at a MILLION people and now its like 40k total, and a third of those numbers are people profiteering in one fashion or another. Many of the people you see in this chat complaining, don't want a more balanced game. They don't want to feel "rewarded" for opening a reinforced chest and finding a purple. They want to go back to gear diffing kids so they can feel some semblence of good about themselves while they no life an indie game.

I'm not sure what kind of game sdf's vision is going to lead to, but I know one thing for sure, i'm wholly uninterested in the kind of dopamine farm, gear diff and cheese game the toxic tiktok teen troubadour's would like to see.

The worst part of this game has increasingly been much alike the worst part of many major mmo's, it's player base. 90% of D&D players are gone and have been gone for nearly a year. This update fixes that.

It's not hard to understand. Making sweeping (and quite honestly foolish) changes all at once is mind-boogling to say the least. If there intent is to lower stat checking and TTK (Time to kill) then squashing stat's down would of made infinitely more sense.

Instead of a stat disparity of 1-7 (how most gear was) they should of just squash down the highest tier (Unique's) to Epic quality (So +5) and change green/blue's to be +3, and epic/legendaries to be +4, so now the leap from green-legendary is 1 stat difference, but legandary has 4 modifier's, where green has 1.

Poor and white quality will mostly be found in sub 25's but even then the disparity between white - Unique would only be 3. Now even if your kitted in full unique. the overall stat difference isn't as enormous.

This would keep higher quality gear more desirable and thus incentivize looting while also making it more viable to win a fight against a more geared opponent.

This way balancing around gear isn't as much of a headache and more time can be spent on other interesting features/content. Like adding a skill tree that augment's abilties/perks, or perhaps adding a vendor that does stuff with jewels that can be socketed for tiny increases.

As it stands rn were already basically hero's in just squire gear, with legendaries giving a laughably small diff.
There is no more zero-hero, cause were all hero's. and when were all hero's, no one is.

Instead of a stat disparity of 1-7 (how most gear was) they should of just squash down the highest tier (Unique's) to Epic quality (So +5) and change green/blue's to be +3, and epic/legendaries to be +4, so now the leap from green-legendary is 1 stat difference, but legandary has 4 modifier's, where green has 1.

I think hotfix #70 and 71 will deffo tie the ideas together. Barb and ranger nerfs (or buff other classes to match) as well as providing more durability. I think it's too vast of a decision to just do it overnight. In my opinion, I think they're just collecting data right now, which could be why they buffed certain classes to get more precise data in a short span of time. I don't think the prior system was perfect, it was gatekeeping a lot of content from new players as well as casual players. The only people who benefitted from that system were people that poured countless hours into the content. Hence it defies the vision of an MMO that the current playerbase has. If the game wanted to be kept at the current player count, it wouldn't make it in 2 years because there are no incentives to make money off the product, besides if it'd be a monthly subscription game.

I will grant that Ironmace is uniquely bad as a game development company. The decisions they make both in terms of what to focus on with development, how to communicate those changes, and how to implement them are the worst in this entire industry.

One thing I don't understand is how it took so long for people to realize how bad of devs they are. Last week, people in this chat were still glazing them, when they have made similar fuck ups like this over and over again, and the quality of the game has only decreased since it's inital launch.

The real problem with tarkov is that the game has absolute abysmal netcoding. Even if no one in the match is cheating, you can never be certain what you see your screen is actually what the server is seeing. This simply makes the game unplayable, after you die to head eyes the 1000 time.

1.) The current value of gear is intentional and part of “the vision,” which means “the vision” is terrible for the game.

2.) The current value of gear is not final and a better change is coming soon, which indicates that the developers knowingly pushed an unfinished update that they apparently knew would be terrible.

1.) Ironmace doesn’t know what they are doing and what is good for the game.

Or

2.) Ironmace doesn’t value the time of their players and willingly ruined the game for a week for the sake of breaking a big update into multiple parts for some reason?

tbh with all the barbs running around longsword has never been better, check out sparky and his happiness slapping barbs, but its good in sense of balance. Whether looters like it or not, there is pvp in the game, and for there to be some sort of pvp integrity, the gap between gear can't be so huge. Any good player in pvp doesn't care about the change, we don't need to be stat raid bosses like its osrs or wow, to win, but sometimes we do when it comes to other highly skilled players who are wearing the raid boss gear and thats where this change comes in, anyone who has spent 1000's of hours in fps or competitive games should not be so confused on why they died without missing a shot, spacing or whatever strat you're using. Its a relatively slow paced game with a small map and small numbers of people in the lobby, getting gear checked does not feel good, especially by people who can't even keep track of circle in this slow paced game. It's absolutely wild how lost people are in pvp, yet they are wearing legendaries and uniques cause they know how to kill npcs in a dungeon. Competitive games don't have such high gear gaps for a reason, balance. They need to bring hp back up though, I am not a fan of low ttk.

Ive never ever complained that ive lost to someone who is more geared than me, i genuinely dont believe in gear checks as much as i believe in counter-builds. Fun of the game is building your unique kit with strengths and weaknesses, this isnt a fighting game like street fighter where your character is static, the fun is in minmaxing to your prefered playstyle and everything being viable, this is not a simple PVP game, if it were we would just have a deathmatch gamemode and call it a day.

A part of the problem is that some classes scale better with gear, and to top that off, the armor nerfs and the flat HP reduction has made some classes absurd, but nonetheless, gear isnt the problem in the sense of balance, gear stat flattening is the problem in the sense of there being literally 0 incentive for you to loot a single chest right now, i dont personally see anything wrong with getting good gear from a chest and getting an upgrade, how is that unbalanced, gear genuinely contributes very little when you find a piece or two in the dungeon, whereas in highrollers everyone has had the same oportunity to bring their best and risk losing it for a chance to get another persons good kit

Yea while gear definitly had an Impact on PvP it was only one of the core problems that needed to be addressed, the main issue that can be observed well now is that the Melee Combat in Dark and Darker is extremily shallow (weapons always have a fixed moveset and the most variation you get is moving your playermodel to strike from a slightly different position) and most of it is more about spacing which doesnt have alot of player interactions, similar with Ripostes which also got implemented in a rather basic way. A Game like Mordhau for example works alot better in that regard because there players can not only use spacing but also interact with eachother in a more fluid melee combat system. Reworking the Power of Gear itself definitly could have done alot of good unless its as fucked up as it is now, and if the Gears baseline would have been more akin to the power of Green or even White Items the Random Rolls would have alot more impact as they have now, because at the moment you can get so many stats that a 3-5% increase in damage on a weapon doesnt matter at all, similar with getting additional armor on multiple gear pieces.

IMO, for players like you, i think a ranked arena mode would be incredible, with cosmetics rewards and leaderboards where you can really push your PVP skills without going thru a full extraciton just for a fight or two.

maybe a better approach would be to let you pick the primary stat you want on gear "like will, knowledge, agility, etc.." , and keep the tier bonus increase on green, blue and purple... etc. You will not be allowed to choose the random bonuses though. That way you can easily pick the stat loadouts you want but you still need to loot gear for the random rolls you want.

The issue now is that squire hands out legendary stat white gear resulting in there be no reason to gear up, farm for loot, boss, or kill players for their kit, because the squire gear just lets you access high-end gear for free without any risks

The game used to be about more than just pvp. Fighting monsters and opening chests to find cool stuff is a big part of why many people play this game; not ONLY to use it to be strong in PVP, but also just to hoard. Sitting atop your stash full of bis like a dragon is FUN for many players. That aspect of the game has been removed. The monsters are easy and there isn't enough difference in what they can drop to get excited about it. Having good gear is less fun now. If your only goal in this game is PVP, congrats- best patch you could have gotten. Enjoy your battle royale with janky combat and imbalanced class system I guess.

having goated rolls on your ger def makes a difference and the stats being the same means you will be looking for gear to do really specific stuff, its not about just buying purples for the most dmg, now if you want dmg you need high teir dmg rolls on purple gear, a white weapon vs a purple with add dmg and phys dmg bonus and phys power will do more dmg but its harder to come by

@left fiber I just ran with will and magic damage white gear with a staff, fire mastery, mana surge and the rest was speed casting and knowledge, I was able to two shot a ranger in purple, and a fighter that was in blues and greens with direct hit fireballs. If anyone was also in whites like me they died the same way pretty much, besides that like 1-2 fireballs and some magic missiles with thunder strikes finishes them off.

Maybe from another barb or a windlass. But from a rogue or other melee classes. Even spell casters using their top spell takes 3. Rogues take 4 -5 unless its all headshots. Then its 3. So yea. While rogues are 1-2 shot. Fighting any class that can windlass and kite or barb that I have to dodge multiple hits while I get 3-5 shots in. Its near impossible.

This is impossible. He's confirming this patch wont be voided and that he will continue leading the game in an unsatisfactory direction based on his vision there is no middle ground with his extreme plans for this game. Low ttk, low gear dominance and meta, and easy PVE with no motive to loot. This is an incredibly grand statement that based on his actions thus far he wont be able to back up, just step down and let terry take over until you can figure out an actual plan. Saying this is one thing but actually taking your community into account, having polls based on what your customers want, expressing and testing your ideas before publishing them etc.

The majority wants have something to grind for to get that dopamine and that's either from getting really good legendary loot from bosses or from killing people.

Atm with flatting all the stats people don't see the point in farming if every item is basically the same, they don't get their dopamine anymore.
