I just migrated from blacksmith to steam and on steam the only screen resolution option is 1280x720 but on blacksmith its 1920x1080 anyone have a fix?

both steam and blacksmith are crashing. sometimes its on initial load, sometimes its in the loading screen, character selection, que. When I hit OK to accept the patch note I get a pop-up about VOIP which is set to off when iit used to be on.

What is possible to add something for free to play players to work towards to?

I am a free-to-play lvl 99 fighter and I think that is testament enough that I love the game. The thing is, I think that having no objective to work towards to kinda sucks and is removing my motivation to grind knowing that everything will be gone through the wipe without even retaining anything.

What I was thinking was something along the lines of:
a. ) colored armor from the squire, like... a green plate set for this season, no additional stat, just an option to wear green plate armor
b.) a recipe for a new set of equipment/armor?

your first idea already exists in the form of season rewards but that's a HR only thing
they're releasing new armor/weapon variants and craftables as and when
the objective of the game is to get loot and get out, then progressively use better and better loot, that's the entire gameplay loop

the circle was intended to force interaction between players while the game was developing and people were getting to grips with it, now that people understand how the game works it frees up the entire dungeon instead of turning it into a lite battle royale with the RNG that circle comes with

@pastel light the issue with circle is that like every battle royale that uses the mechanic it ends up forcing people into favourable or unfavourable situations with zero player input or skill expression, this also detracts from the whole dungeon exploration and looting aspect as you're too busy trying to position yourself so you don't get your behind taken advantage of

certain bosses also drop certain artifacts that others dont, if you look on the wiki it shows which ones for which bosses

the reason why wipes exist in heavy loot based games like dark and darker is so that people don't just hoard mass amounts of wealth and become exponentially more rich and powerful, which would then eventually reach to the point where small groups of people can freely manipulate the market to their benefit and do as they please

They make the same rising sound the blue portals do when they come out of the ground, so just walk around and listen for that. I might be misremembering or it may just be random, but I'm pretty sure one of those portals spawns in the Dark Library area

Its a value they implimented to determine the relative power of your gear to allow them to toy around with gear based matchmaking. You can see the value of your gear in the lower corner of your character inventory. Be mindful, items in your characters “backpack” also count.

It sounds nice and fair but the whole basis of a game like this is unfairness. Gathering gear is pointless if gear brackets are too tight. Too wide and people will “min/max” to optimize their gear in a given bracket anyway and youll still get rolled. So its pointless overall

Play some speedy/stealthy classes. Cause some mischief. I put 200 hours in and had the same issue you do. Then I decided to give pickpocket rogue a try, and had a blast. Now me and the boys dive into high roller all the time. Don't have gear fear. Understand that dying is part of the experience and it'll happen less and feel less bad.

oh and red exits can be used any number of times! if u cant find an extract u can always guaranteed a red stair will be open as they cant be used up. You will just have to go through inferno but portals are guaranteed to spawn in the 4 corners of the map down there so they are easy to find.

The issue with adding points of interest to this game is that, they quickly become exploited. Every point of interest they have ever added has been removed. The gold pile on ruins was removed, the gold ore spawns were removed. Every point of interest that is valuable enough to encourage pvp to contest it, they end up removing. This is because it is quite easy to get into a game with an empty lobby, or one where you have a massive gear disparity. These POI very quickly become gold farms for the top 1% of players while everyone is forced to stay miles away because the giga chads in the lobby will clear every room in a 9 floor radius around it.

I'm grinding to demi in solo and I have only died once because I canceled the rope when I shouldn't have. If you're properly geared most people are chill so it's easy grinding. Assuming you can handle the PvE stuff

To kill the yeti you crouch jump to the right over his first attack and stay on hi right side. His left won't ever hit you.

I made a suggestion that bosses could drop "Learning Scrolls" as a super rare item, also obtainable from Hordes. They could teach new abilities/perks/spells that are accessible for the rest of the wipe. You could either sell or use them on the appropritate character. My idea didnt get much traction though which is kinda unfortunate.

You will always beat new players regardless of new abilities/spells/perks. And they wouldn't have to be overpowered at all. Lack of meaningful progression is whats making this game feel stale right now. If they don't add the leveling system, they need to add something else to purchase with gold that isn't more gear and stashes.

Its extremely complex to maintain a massive infrastructure like they do.
