I think it was explained two or three updates ago, and not sure if this is true or not since half the things spewed in this discord is wrong so take it with a grain of salt but - The "server latency too high" thing is an error. From what I heard at the time those servers are completely down and only certain servers are up at this time, Singapore, East Asia, etc. but not NA ones. They do this to allow players to still play while the other servers are coming up instead of waiting for all of them to be up.

Again, this is hearsay and I'm not confident in this information so take it as you will.

I don't understand the balancing direction that the game has been taken in.

During the playtests, the thing that made Dark and Darker fun, was that no matter what gear you had, it was your skill that ultimately mattered. It made people buying gold less of an issue because gear wasn't as significant of a factor in success, and we didn't have to deal with issues of teams walking through lobbies with BIS rolls they purchased for real money ruining the game.

However after the playtest they made random modifiers much larger. Everyone hated it so they reverted it. Then they made gear base state scaling larger, added more +all and increased the random modifiers again. Everyone hated it, so they dialed it back.

Now once again, they are increasing the random modifier scaling again. Why? Everyone hates the golden death squads of BIS gear that are completely unstoppable and simply walk through lobbies. That isn't fun for anyone except perhaps the people who buy gold for the best gear, or streamers who play games for a living and can milk their audiences constantly for money and gear.

This problem completely destroyed highrollers last wipe to the point that Ice Caverns became the only viable map as it was mostly PVE and the gold death squads (mostly) stuck to farming everyone on ruins. You literally could not play HR unless you had 15-20k to dump into a full gold kit. And that wouldn't get you a good full gold kit like the BIS teams were running, just one that would give you a remote chance at survival.

The gear gap is the whole reason HR had to be separated from norms. And this problem is only becoming worse the more that attribute scaling happens. Pretty soon we are going to need to separate HR into legendary gear+, and everyone else, just so purple gear teams have a chance.

I do not want to live in norms. That is not fun and it is not the game I paid for. And it's not a game that anyone is going to want to play longterm. If lobbies have to be separated due to gear being such a power factor, then something has gone wrong since the playtests.

Well to name a few reasons.... they get 10+ weapon damage from perks, 15% action speed, the best moment ability in the game(sprint) infinitely, no 3x or 5x use. A replenishable 40% heal. And they can use just about any weapon or armor piece you find in game so your options are basically limitless
