Wiz can still die in around 2 hits to every class in the game and wiz is only optimal in mid range while fighter can only die quickly to wiz and has advantage in the close and long range against wiz and close mid and long range advantage against most classes. Fighter has one class which has a circumstantial advantage against it and every fighter acts like that is crazy while fighter has had complete dominance against almost every class in almost every encounter and that is just considered 'normal' 0_o

You have to create some weird min max scenario not seen in 99% of fights to make it sound like wiz doesn't drop like a flower while every fighter is nearly immune to melee damage since all they have to do to achieve that is equip white armor from the shop. I'm maining 'lock this season, and tbh I'm finding BoC is pretty much always as it was. Pound-for-Pound, equal with a fighter, a fighter still wins a melee-only engagement if you haven't softened them up somehow. Kinda mediocre. I've been finding that the ray of darkness is pretty solid now, and mostly using that.

i could argue is even strong in GC. and not bad at all in duos. But current meta of bows and crossbows let warlocks kinda out (and barbarians, for that matter) in crypt trios

Early warlock wants one good run under its belt, and then to put that money into white staffs. Then use the ray of darkness + life drain. Prioritize soul collector and everything that buffs dark magic damage. Then you just need to learn spacing and positioning. But I actually think warlock is pretty consistently great at being a pve class so it's very newb friendly in non-pvp situations.

Warlock's main counter right now is out-range-damaging it with something like the ranger. In situations like those you need to be able to choose your battlefield and correctly use your options. It's not easy. And I think that any sort of serious level you need lots of knowledge to be able to take a better spell list with the hydra. But it doesn't outright crumple like I felt warlock absolutely used to.

If you are trying to join a group of players you don't yet know it would probably help your chances if you at least get to the Wanderer level in the HR gobo caves since that would show a baseline solo competence.

ranger 3 taps wizards with mid gear as ranger lmao. But yes the meta is wiz/cleric/bard. Ranger is meta for bossing and if the ranger has aim then it can stomp wizards and bards. Rangers dont really have a steep gear curve like all other classes especially comparing to all the other dps. U need to be geared to even play wiz or rogue. But for ranger u just need a purp bow and a few pieces to slap

Dude if you play full plate you are waaay to slow , any good player just runs away from you. Also wizards just delete you in 2 shot before you can even reload your crossbow and they are running 140/150 hp so unless you are rocking a full bis dmg set and hit 2 crossbow headshots you cant win. Thats suspicious but I dont agree with you on your timing, you can, in your own video see how long it takes for the rogue smoke to disappear, its almost 2 seconds from start to finish, you pop stealth at the start of 11 seconds in your video and can see him at like 11.5-12 seconds in so your smoke almost was surely still visable, and thats not even factoring in the fact that your camera isnt situated in your arms so your arm could be visible to someone before they were visible to you.

It's more prevalent on the OCE servers but it still spills over into other server regions. Just a fact of life that people will cheat in any game and any game with a significant Chinese player pop will see even more cheating since they don't seem to have any moral aversion to it. I have never really talked with someone from China about that but it would be an interesting discussion to have. DaD's playerbase is relatively small and while it has competitive aspects it isn't quite the same as truly competitive games which I think helps limit some of the cheating as in NA normals I wouldn't say that I run into much that is obvious.

Anyone else think white lobbies need to be updated to max green? IMO I feel like the economy is fucked because no one is buying gear except to go to HR. This is just in the next annoucement will be about a release of a new ice/glacier them map. Whats separates this map from the other is the circle, because there isn't one. Players can leave every 8 minutes when the traveling wagon hits its rounds on the map. After the wagon is gone a event will start soon after. This event will either help reset the map with a mighty blizzard were adventures need to hide or huddle next to a warm campfire, to huge ice giants that are returning home from hunting dire wolfs. On top of that the fortune teller's shop will be receiving a rework. With a little bit of coin, you may reroll stats on gear. The friendlier fortune teller the more precise you'll be able to reroll particular trait. There will also be a new potion sold directly from her, the mirror potion. It'll create a mirror image of yourself right next to you that will replicate the reverse motion and actions you do. The Phantom image can take up to 30HP before fading away in smoke. Double Jump - Very useful in ruins, maybe not worth it in Crypts
10 steps in stealth - I forget the name, but it's required
40 seconds of stealth - I forgot the name, but I would take this
Pickpocket - You need it to pickpocket

If you didn't run Double Jump I would take the one that gives +15% movement speed after leaving stealth you can skedaddle

With a white staff you can do around 30-40 physical and 40-50 magical in default gear if you hit a headshot. That’s basically an instant kill on a naked rogue or wizard. Is it op? Not really, you have to hit a headshot for it to do 150% damage and it can be waited out or blocked for it to go away for 16 seconds.

PVE is inconsistent. It's either easy normal, or suddenly high roller with 1 black and 2 red gobbos murdering you at your spawn.
PVP is basically an imbalanced exploits fest. Bis, streamer builds. Gear disparity is terribly punishing, certain classes being simply weaker than the rest. It feel like we are in a 50$ playtest.
Inferno is another exploit fest. You can kill almost every mob without a sweat if you know how high you need to climb. On the other hand, if you don't exploit, you gonna have a terrible challenge other players just choose not to take.
Bosses are probably fun, but you need a team of 3 well-cooperated players. I feel majority of the player base does not come to Dark and Darker with 2 friends.

Overall, it's great to watch a streamer play, it's a mediocre (at most) experience to play. You can spend 2 miserable hours being killed from a distance and the only thought is to play like the others. Fighter cross, ranger recurve, barb viking (hp pool), rogue rapier (land mine). Why do you even bother adding weapons like hatchet or rondal dagger?

I think I'm too invested in this game. This whole "HOLD THE LINE" crap got into me too much. This game is a weak 4/10 at most. It's just weird it's so addictive. Maybe because you think if you get better at it, it will become more fun?

Kind of getting annoying how late night queues in normal crypts are turning into simul queue bonanzas for boss quests. Only one team gets credit - but I presume they're trading bosses or whatever. It's been happening several nights in a row for my team now. A few examples:

• Running into groups of 5-6 players at a time who all fight you together, usually in Crypts and not in Inferno. The most blatant example.
• Two teams fighting boss together and players from one team stopping for heals / cleanse from a cleric on a different team as if in voice call...
• Wipe one team and no matter where you go on the map other team(s) will find you (Spectator).

Yeah, the quest system in general is insane. I have around ~30 GC runs in the past 2 days, rushing Giant Spiders when I can, killing ~10 goblins on average per game, and I've gotten 0 spider silk and 1 goblin ear total. Just a big oof.

This isn't even mentioning Centaur Hoof for Tavern Master #8, Royal Gems for Treasurer #5, Troll Pelt + 15 wolf pelts for Leathersmith #3, or just how absurd the early 15 leather caps / campfires / surgical kits are when you don't have stash tabs yet...

Lich / Ghost King down to 5 kills each (max) seems like an obvious one. Not really sure what getting 15 demonstrates over getting 5.

Some of the collect quests with extremely low droprate items also seems pretty BS imo. Like I'm killing Ghost King with my team but I don't even have the quest unlocked because I can't find spider silk.

Edit - I don't want it to be a rubber stamp, easy-mode experience. I just hate how extremely low drop-rate items are required for quests that aren't even the final quest for a merchant.

I mean if they substantially overhaul how AP works, I could see it being okay. Kills are so massively low in terms of AP reward - and looting enemy kits is completely disincentivized. Imo if you have the god run in GC and kill 4-5 people and loot their stuff, then you should make it out with 10x the AP of a rogue who cleared one module and ratted with 5 purple sellables.

I'd also be curious to see an "Arena" ranked mode. Where it's just a small arena with some sort of cover / structures, and you fight against 1 other team. Not sure how to handle gear you can bring in / what you lose if you die. Because that has potential to go horribly wrong. But that would at least be skill expressive, if not in theme with the rest of the game at all.

Getting Wizard to an appropriate place aside, I think one possible approach to ranged weapons could be to completely remove physical power scaling their damage. Converting your physical power bonus to ranged damage is just absurd and completely removes any need to ever melee someone. Strength / Physical Power can maybe do something else for Ranged. Maybe it has a 50% ratio for ranged weapons. Maybe it scales up armor pen instead of raw damage (still good into PDR). I genuinely don't know - but what I do know is that arrows/bolt scaling off physical power is not good for the game long term. @main garden

IMO they really do need to standardize movement speed or something, it’s crazy how I can play as a naked wizard or ranger and demolish HR when vsing anyone who isn’t playing Ranger or wizard, just because it’s physically impossible for them to catch up to me, the best way would be to make all classes 100% with rouge probably sitting at 102 for fairness, and anyone wearing plate probably sitting at 90-95%, building move speed should never be a thing in this game when it’s so oppressive it’s hilarious, this doesn’t take into account abilities increasing move speed

I think Wizard needs 100% scaling on MM vs. mobs, but 50% against players.

Then I'd further nerf Wizard (and also touch on Ranger) by making the X-key unequip/equip take twice as long - slowing you for twice as long. The disengage meta is just too annoying for melees right now, so ofc people rely on ranged weapons.

@main garden Yeah the thing about standardizing move speed is you bump into the "Sprint-esque" abilities problem. Not sure how to work around that, since Fighter/Barb have to be carefully balanced around that. What I do know is that something needs to be done. So approaching it from that direction works for me. I'd be curious to see how the X-key nerf would affect the meta. I'd guess it would help a lot.

And yeah, remove Lightning Strike slow. That's just silly. Ranger can keep its slow, honestly. The only issue I see with Ranger is X-key disengage and then damage scaling in HR.

They will nerf Longbow base damage, which will be like a 10% damage nerf to new / normal Rangers, but like a 1% damage nerf for HR rangers.

If you're wanting to play HR and have quite nice gear, you can do the current meta Buffball - which is almost unstoppable right now. Melee/Smite Cleric + Wizard + Bard (of all things). Bard buff + Wizard Haste essentially gets around Cleric's move speed penalties. And then an Ignite/Divine Strike/Smite Cleric can absolutely butcher any other melee in the game. Wizard pops in behind him to fire missiles at the backliners.

I hate ranged v. ranged duels taking 5 minutes to resolve as well, but also don't play this comp lol. It's somehow even worse. Feels untouchable.

This gets to a similar situation as Fighter vs. Wizard, I'd argue.

Wizard vs. Barbarian should be unfavorable in that Barb is supposed to be a magic resisting melee as a core fantasy in this game (whether right or wrong lol). They don't wear plate (no magic resist penalty), they get that +100 MR perk, a lot of leather gear has magic resist, etc.

The matchup should be healthy, but with an understanding imo that Barbarian should be slightly favored against Wizard by design philosophy. If anything Barbarian is underperforming in that role right now based on Wizard's dominance in Highroller Crypts.

Edit - I also don't really know how Barbarian's gameplay is supposed to counter Wizard's. Barb just "sprints" right at them while occasionally doing ranged damage, same as Fighter. They have the same gameplay loop lol. The game needs some changes that will hopefully come with Training.

Buff Base Ranger kit -> Goblin Caves balancing for this class should be looked at. Dmg on bows/ranged weaponry vs other Classes namely Fighter is obscene. Fighters can rock a 50g set of whites and be 3x as scary as a Ranger base kit can be. They get 60% PDR + Crossbows, every hit a Ranger makes vs Fighter is like 10-15% hp meanwhile the return fire is more like 40% back from a Crossbow. Balancing seems awful. Especially when Fighters heals are 1 use, no time spent popping the ability, whereas a Ranger heals 25hp over 2-3s of use time effectively taking him out of the battle.

Other than that, base damage does seem pretty low. Takes about 4 hits from a bow plus 3 melees to kill a barb with no armor. Maybe instead of increasing dmg, increase action speed for it

The AP received for a player kill is on the low side but killing a player will net you their loot and gathered AP, essentially granting more AP than the game awards you for killing a player. On a side note, I think gaining a small amount of AP for a kill is a good thing, this will prevent it from being a PvP arena.

1 - Warlock should have a teammate healing type spell, either they cast a spell that redirects damage a teammate is about to take onto them or they can give there own life points to a teammate who needs it.

They've changed how the MMR system matches people up, it's in the best interest to not tell us how it's changed so we don't try to game it or get upset about a change that ends up making queueing better even if it seems counter intuitive. They're changing based on feedback about what people say like "All my lobbies are empty" or "I'm constantly facing sweats" since this is directly because of how hard or soft the MMR is affecting queueing and they want to find a sweet spot for it where you're not fighting timmies but you're also not ONLY fighting people on your level either.

You need to level up traders to unlock many of the higher end crafting items. I dont know which merchant is used for this, but you also get a coin bag for completing the third or fourth goblin merchant quest…

Realistically, you will want to buy stash tabs before even considering a coin bag, because of the cost of materials and time to get the quests done for that merchant anyway, and since you get one for free anyway.

In that case you just keep most of the coin bags and fill those up, and once you have 5-8k gold, start storing gold in gold ingots instead. Its more efficient than the larger bag anyway, it only holds 1k but a 5 stack of gold ingots is worth about 3k (plus people sell high end gear in ingots or keys anyway)

Well number two doesn't depend on any cloud, but location. meaning even if it could fix you issues, depending on where the server is and the "chinese" guys connexion it would be fine if it's not distant enough, meaning there's not only you who could suffer from it.
As for #3 with my fix no one can cheat like they do (specing while not being part of a team), surely no one can prevent every hacks anyway, but let's not make it easy anyway.

I feel the opposite normals is way less balanced dominated by fighters, clerics and wizards who can do tons of damage and healing without gear. Certain classes like Warlock/Bard/Rogue cant shine until they get gear which makes the class balance way better in HR.

Well to be fair those are like the top 3 classes vs the bottom 3 classes. I've been playing warlock mostly this patch and some fighter and fighter is by far more powerful and better survivability overall. Warlock does have power but you have to play super careful. Plus warlock isn't complete so not many variations on play style (melee, caster, or mix)

Yup. I agree. Fighter without gear is top. Fighter with med gear is top. Fighter with high gear is top. Warlock with no gear is a worm. Warlock with mid gear starts actually using any reasonable build. High warlock can be very strong but the fear of dropping to the very rock bottom make it a crap experience.

Id argue right now cleric with gear is top, cleric in 1v1 with fighter will outlast and can out damage using both magic and melee.

The fun fact is that warlocks should hard counter plate classes, so fighter and cleric because of its magic damage both spells and boc. The problem is fighter with crossbow mutilates any warlock and cleric with perseverence, protection from evil, and holy magic that ignores antimagic can easily outdps warlock.

Ranger hard counter warlocks, barb hard counters warlocks, rogues are in their own league of "do landmine well and you win", bard with crossbow will dps you from afar. Wizard with magic missile is insanely strong. It's just a tough situation.

If I'm wrong, explain how I'm wrong. If I'm correct, why IM is asleep? 😦

Ruins is a Ranger's paradise, because of the large open spaces. Best advice I can give there, is to try to stick to the smaller rooms that have cover. Same applies to Goblin caves, but it's much more common to find cover in them.

Get a crossbow, if you don't have one. I'm assuming you're running as a full plate fighter. In Normal lobbies, you can get about 50% PDR. That, plus the ranged damage reduction, means you'll be taking somewhere around 40% of the damage taken from a Ranger's arrows. If you can trade a bolt with an arrow, that's 100% worth doing. You'll win the long game, if they want to play that.

Alternatively, if you're good with a shield, block their arrows and start to move in. Try to corner the Ranger. Be wary of traps. Don't pop sprint immediately though. It's not a gap closer, it's a chase. If you hit sprint just to get close to the Ranger, he'll kite you (if he's good.)
But once you're fairly close, and you pop sprint, it's much harder for him to get away and kite you. If you run out of sprint, and you're not hitting the Ranger, you probably need to reset the fight. Get back into cover.

*PDR is Physical Damage Reduction. I.e., your armor stat. Plate armor also gives an additional Projectile Damage Reduction (Arrows, Bolts, throwing weapons.)

Yea so its lookin like some of yall are smokin mad packs. Wizard is very highly played in high mmr because it is a hard and rewarding class. For those who say it is easy, they haven't played the class. I laugh so f-ing hard when I see a person that complains about MM try to use wizard. They think the second they let go of the spell and send a single magic missile that it's going to kill any class no problem. Wizard is one of, if not the easiest class to dodge as all the spells are brighter than the sun. Icebolt is easy, fireball is easy, lightning strike is a little bit harder but still easy, chain lightning is hard to hit and hard to dodge, zap is pretty hard to dodge but also not the easiest to hit. The health pool we have is almost none and our speed isn't great. We have to use game sense, aim, and timing probably more than any other class in the game. Ranger is just a tumor baby class. Warlock is kind of like wizard in the sense that you need high game sense and aim but using melee warlock is pretty amazing. Dark bolt is silent and almost impossible to see whereas an icebolt is a missile with radios coming out the side of it. Anybody that hates on MM doesn't know how to keep distance, use their brain, or dodge. Wizard is a good class because when you are good at the game, it is rewarding. When your opponent is bad at the game, it's even more rewarding. Stop judging classes just because you can't articulate a though in between your eyes. I will admit that MM does an insane amount of damage when you are geared but a bow can two shot most classes and can even one shot if insanely geared. #stopwizardhate #getbetteratDaD #takedodgingclasses.

How do you avoid the floor traps? Is there some trick to avoid them other than trying to run/jump over them?

Make them trigger. Once the spikes go back down, you have about a half second or so, where you can stand on them without them coming back up.

In practice, you can throw a torch onto the trap. Spikes come up. As soon as they go down, start to run across the spike trap. Once you're a couple of steps across it, jump the rest of the distance, so you don't get hit by the spikes coming back up.

Instead of throwing a torch, you can use your toes. If you get very close to the trap (But not too close), it'll activate the trap and it won't hit you. Then you do the same as I described before.

There's a trap in Goblin Caves that, as far as I know, cannot be avoided without doing this trick.

Watching the match after escaping, I discovered that 3 Chinese bastards used the wall to chase me but luckily i were able to run away. After watching, the 3 Chinese bastards continued to use wall hacks to look at the players and control them. Especially, it is possible to check other players' equipment and gear from a long distance. Ranger using wall with aim bot just runs and shoots randomly and it will automatically hit the head. Reporting also does not work because IronMace does not check.
