It happens more often then you think, after fighting off a geared dude there is a lot of uncertainty about whether or not to attack the other dude. The new rules force the issue, now you must fight eachother or risk getting banned.

There is a difference between:
Killing a lobster and going "I wont attack you lets be friendly and go separate ways"
vs
Killing the Lobster and going: "Im out of spells/arrows/im on low hp, etc and I dont think I have the ability to kill the other guy so I'm going to run away for now"

1 is teaming, the other is that you want to kill the other person but you realized that you would more than likely die based on your analysis of the situation.

And considering you need video evidence of the teaming situation. They will be able to see if you were actually on low hp, low resources, etc.

Today myself and a friend ran ruins in lobster gear and fought off 3 teams working together to try to kill us. We ended up killing 4 out of 6 and the other two ran because we are slow as hell in that gear. We didn’t report them because it was so much fun fighting all the different angles of attack. Best game I’ve played in a long while. But… teaming against non geared people is just lame.

Aside from the players just saying it outloud, there's no way to know for sure. And the decision to initiate the ban process starts from the guy who has a lot of incentive to get the two guys who just killed him banned. The only way to prevent overreporting is to ban false accusations and now we've opened another can of worms. There's just no good way to prevent teaming other than disincentivizing through other means.

If there is a Lobster. And you go in to fight. I then come out and then also fight the lobster.

The lobster dies. I have 80% HP, I still have sprint + second wind and the video recording shows that you took several hits.

And I decided to take loot and then walk away. That would be on video and recorded and be blantant teaming. You dont need voip for that. It will literally show me not attacking you while you are able to be engaged with a high likelyhood of death.

Meanwhile if I had low HP and no resources it will be shown in video that I ran away without looting anything because I feared that you'd be able to just kill me. Running away due to fear of you then attacking me coincides with interpretation of not teaming.

you can talk to each other, you can hand things over or trade in game, you can help each other with pve mobs. This helps with chinese farmers, who have 1 guy die and spectate the entire server so the 3 teams of 2 can clear everyone out and farm all the items and ore to sell.

Gear is insanely cheap right now. Getting a full kit after a few goblin caves runs is all you need to go on an absolute killing spree in ruins or crypts.

It really comes down to the fact that I don't believe whoever is watching the videos is going to be able to accurately interpret these kinds of situations all the time, and I don't think teaming is a big enough problem to justify the inevitability of false positives. I've been playing since playtest 2 and have rarely experienced teaming, i play on NA servers so maybe i don't know how bad it is on others. I also don't team myself, i prefer to keep my distance from other players at all times because i have deep-seated trust issues. a few crouches before i carry on is the most i'll do. just think this is a bad game design choice

When you’re newer to the game it does feel like you’re getting ran down and you can’t do anything about it but overtime you will learn what classes counter what and what roles you play in your team. You can take down geared teams as a naked trio but not until you get some more PvP experience and learn how to work with your teammates like I mentioned

• Or, if it's a free for all, no bans.
• Or, if Player2 attacks Player3, then afterwards, Players 1&2 fight, no bans
• Or, if Player2 attacks Player3, and Player1 runs, no bans
• Or, if Player2 attacks Player3, and, when Player3 is dead, either living Player runs away, no bans (probably). (This option hasn't been confirmed to my knowledge, but I believe is intended. Fleeing isn't the same as sparing.)
• But, if Player2 attacks Player3, and then they both loot the body, that's bannable

It's unlikely that while you're peacefully passing a player, a 3rd runs up and you have to all fight. But if you've joined another player to PvE, then yeah, you're halfway to teaming

You can non aggression w someone but if a player rolls in whoever gets stuck engaging them first has to fight them alone or it can turn into a FFA

Most of what theyre focused on here involves pvp. Teaming is only an issue in the devs eyes because of the impact on pvp. The second you appear to be helping someone in a fight and not fight or chase them away (or ger chased away) you are in trouble

Yep! I wasn't calling that teaming. I was trying to specifically call out going room to room as a voip party. Even tho it's not banned, you are treating them like a friend/teammate when they are not, and that's why it feels so much like a betrayal situation when player 3 arrives.
I think iron mace doesn't want you to think of the other players as friends. Non-enemies, sure. Friends/allies, no.
If you think of them as friends/allies, then it's harder to understand what to do when this 3rd person shows up

After thinking about it more, I think this ban is probably meant for teaming to kill players (which feels obvious when I say it).
The nuances of "what do we do if someone charges us when we're mining peacefully" or whatever probably isn't the point of this ban.
If you're teaming up to hunt down players, or kill players that find your team, then that's what's bannable.
Maybe I'm wrong, but if I give IM the benefit of the doubt, this seems like the most likely case.

This scenario is operating on the fact that teaming for PvE is not against the rules, only for PvP. This is as said directly by the moderation team as well. You can team up to fight the cave troll and even split the loot from the troll, but you cannot team up against a player and share the loot. If you are teaming up against the cave troll and a third person comes in to fight, you cannot both defend your loot; someone has to fight and someone has to leave or watch

tarkov actually added a duo extract that gives both players a bonus if a scav and pmc player (but not two pmc players) use it, and still they don't have a teaming issue like dark and darker seems to. Most people “team” in GC because they are new and are learning the ropes and don’t want to get rolled by players they have no chance against. That is the sad thing. I have played both sides of this. I have played with IRL friends and we have played low gear, played for fun and not really made a ton of money throughout a wipe. I have also played with my friend who is just nuts at games in general and we have gotten between the two of us over 40 keys worth of gear in a wipe and just steamrolled people. Neither side of this is fun. They are SO close to doing the right thing. Their initial plan was the 3-tiered system I am talking about, and my only contribution here is adding a lowbie lobby for the people who are truly truly casual and just want to do naked runs. The only reason they removed this is people complained when they had second floor ruins on release in playtest, and they LISTENED. they should have stuck true to their vision this whole time, not listened to streamers, not listened to the casuals, not listened to the average player. They should have FINISHED their vision and then tweaked it as necessary. The result of them not doing this is this constant flip-flop in their ideologies and game balance decisions.

And then once you have built up gear, you join a party and try to survive 1 of 3 floors. Then as you get more gear you go to floor 2, then floor 3! This is fine. They had 300k players in playtest. They do not NEED a duos mode.

It's a week and a bit in, I have a 2nd stash page, more loot and gold than I know what to do with, no what I do, go into GC, ruins, or crypts solo and just look for fights, people want to cry about the end game, but don't want to put in the work to do it. It's possible to be a lobby stomper now yourself with minimal effort than ever before, go put in the time

There is HR for geared players. If we're talking about going against the "vision" for the game, those in high leveled gear, the "intention" is for them to play HR, not steamroll Normal GC. most success? Probably Slayer, your biggest problems will be Barbarians/plate users (but you can usually kite them), you will 2-3 tap everyone else. Both are designed to be played differently. I wouldnt ever go full plate in GC cause you are just way to slow, MS is everything in GC usually

Here's the trick to the new teaming update: You can still team with players in the dungeon, however when running into another player that you want to kill you have to fight one at a time with no help, if your "team mate" (The player at the time you were with) dies, then you simply 3rd party and finish the kill, therefore you were not helping your teamate in fighting another player and have done nothing wrong.

The spirit of the rule seems fine to me its just that its going to be incredibly subjectively enforced, by nature. Which can be fine, I guess... most games have subjective enforcement of some kind, like just look at League of Legends and old tribunal type stuff even in counter-strike. The best solution probably involves changing the game to discourage specifically the undesired type of behaviour.

games ass rn, just look at the player list literally less then half of the ususal players on a monday night, its sad because on the weekend the player count was even lower then it is now. there is literally 0 shame in admitting gear makes some 1v1's impossible, this is where organic teaming comes in.
It SHOULD be a risk to bring full purple/orange into NORMAL GC, you SHOULD draw aggro from all nearby grey/white geared players.

Gear should never add more than 25% advantage in a fight otherwise its now forcing ppl to grind extra to just be even in a fight, which majority are leaving for bud , the sad truth is so many dont give af about hell, bosses, or even high roller, 5-7 games to try one of those as a complete noob just gets you scoffed at in group finder, the elitist bs is what no one wants, the game would be fun with no gear, aslong as there were quests or wacky items and fun convos in game. I think calling it a cash grab is an extreme take, (unless the nexon allegations prove true). Im have put in some serious work developing the game since the playtests came, out and have still put in work afterwords. I think the issues arising with all the game balance changes is merely a result of ignorance and weak will than it is malice.

I agree with this actually. The gear nerfs disproportionately affected DPS squishies that depend on added dmg because of low base strength and base weapon damage, like rogues, bards and rangers, yet no nerfs to PDR and HP stacking barbs to counteract this.

A base fighter is around 270 ms. Base rogue naked is 317 and after using sprint and have s weapon in hand with out run an agility class. That is so broken. A skilled fighter rn is almost unkillable atm
