I understand there's a wipe but what's the point in high roller when no one plays it. get rid of entry fee for high roller and implement a gear score system to determine what zone you go through. depending on the amount and quality of gear determines whether you get put into normal or high roller. It'd prevent nakeds that go for gold to constantly get chased by geared players while geared people will face geared people. of course though, I know people will complain about the system but that may be geared people complaining that they can't steal gold from nakeds

If that gear score hits a certain number, you are put into high roller or 'geared lobbies'. If you are below the number required then you are put into normal or 'fresh lobbies'

What if they ditch the level-based matchmaking, make it open matchmaking and give all equipment a numerical value. Normal dungeons can have a gear value cap that limits the quality of gear each character can bring into the dungeon, and HR dungeons have no cap. You can enter a normal dungeon with all green gear, or gray gear with maybe a purple weapon or something, I dunno.

On the wiki in damage calculations, it talks about scalings under "attribute damage ratio." This is how things scale, for example poison from the rogue has 50% scalings.

This section lists what modifiers the scaling applies to, and what modifiers it doesn't apply to. One of the modifiers that's listed as not being included is attributes (strength, will, etc.). So apparently the modifier doesn't apply to attributes.

But this seems to be wrong when you test the poison perk from the rogue on training dummies with just your base stats. A base rogue has -50% magic damage, so poison should do .5 damage per second at 1 stack, 1/s at 2 stacks, 1.5/s at 3 stacks, and 2/s at 4 stacks. Instead the rogue deals 0/s at one stack, 1/s at 2, 2/s at 3, and 3/s at 4 (rounded integers). These actual numbers don't line up well, but they would if the numbers we see are always rounded down (a common thing to do in coding) for damage values with only half of the negative modifier; in which case you deal .75/tick at 1 stack, 1.5 at 2, 2.25 at 3, and 3 at 4.

This has me confused, do attribute bonuses actually apply to scaling modifiers, if not is this not the case for negative modifiers?

Level doesn't matter in dodging things, heal by getting pots and bandages from the vendors, or campfires.

Basically start with hitting something once and backing up, once you're close enough to something it'll attack, so one attack and back up till you learn the attacks of each mob.

Protip : Turning 90 degrees and strafing is faster than backing up.

I guess I should elaborate. The ban on teaming is a nonenforceable policy. Because they allow non coordinated teaming it requires far too much evidence to prove that preplanned teaming is occuring. They will always have a large ammount of deniability. So given how common it is and how the bans are not enforceable you should consider GC a duo map and prepare accordingly

They may bealbe to look at your match history and how often you appear with another player in the same lobby. But that probably requires a decent ammount of footwork on their part to go over. That is why it appears teaming is something you have to self enforce. Even then they prob don't always act on it. If they just banned teaming in general in solo it would make it much easier to actually enforce the policy.

i think the biggest issue with ranger is that sometimes, like if youre playing barbrarian or cleric, the counterplay to ranger is see them before they see you and then go the other way. otherwise you need to put in a whole lot more effort like using invis potions and stuff to have a chance realistically; unless you're lucky enough to run into them like 5 meters away from you. there's not very much that you can do to not die against them

It's from the Spells and Guns Wiki, which is pretty accurate from my experience.

The Halberd is supposed to have a 40% damage penalty if you're a bit too close, and a gnarly 60% damage penalty at point-blank. However, the Orange and Red impact zones actually aren't set on the Halberd (i.e. the entire striking area is green), so it always deals full damage so long as the hit connects.

It's definitely felt true from my experience. I would push some guy "knowing" there's that huge 60% damage penalty and I'd still get two-shotted regardless.

A good nerf to Ranger would be to stop allowing them to use triple shot if they don’t have 3 arrows available, and reduce the total available for longbow to reload from 6 to 5.

The reason you won't do it is because it's not possible. It is possible in a game like Tarkov, where even if someone has full chad gear, you can still oneshot them in the face or in the legs. In Dark and Darker, you can't do that at all, you do barely any damage to them whereas they kill you in two swings. Plus they have a shit ton of consumables they can pop in combat. Dark and Darker doesn't have the same mechanics to allow you to kill players who are way more geared than you. You just get wiped.

The issue with gear in this game though, is even if you catch them off guard, where you can make no mistakes, they can make 10 and you will still lose off a single strike.

And depending on the class, it's almost impossible to kill them.

Catching a high tier in a trap I shot 5 arrows into their head, 3 into their chest, and the guy just laughed at me as he healed through me.

Geared people who go into low lobbies to kill the newbies are just toxic af as well.

You CAN fight them though. I play crypts with three stacks and do naked runs and still outplay geared players. You wont beat the geared players as often in the 1v1s but in the team comps people still mess up and gear doesnt = skill.

Lots of high tier clerics run judgement. Stacking magic power and knowledge you can obliterate people with holy strike and judgement. Pre-buff yourself and even if they do get close they will never do more dmg to you than you do to them.

I didn't mean they were doing both at the same time either, sorry. Was just giving exampls of judgement vs smite. They either cast holy strike on you from a range and smite you when you get close.

Or they cast holy strike on you to blind you, get close enough to cast judgement while you're blinded and then holy strike you again.

Please for the love of god kill ranger next patch. It lacks counterplay. No class can do anything against a ranger. It Deals way too much damage, triple shot and meat are both way too good and it's way too easy to hit shots with the longbow. It clears all PvE content with ease, faster than any class, even if low skilled and can never be pushed by players since you will usually die before you reach them. PvP is currently just rangers firing at each other while the others spectate NERF RANGER

Definitely not. Bows have great slow damage, pdrt just had a huge reduction, with high armor pen, rations are amazing in plenty of situations.

Well you obviously dont run into a ranger in a straight line, but do you guys think that it's healthy gameplay when the best play is to just leave when you see a class? Usually it's either 2 rangers who are even toughter to push and rotating from the Sides to push makes you and your Team very vulnerable to being 3rd partie'd or straight Up killed by the Ranger's teammates when splitting up. I dont think it's fair when a class has to much range to the point where you can never defend yourself while they happily Spam arrows. Another Idea could be to disallow them to hold so many arrows to punish spray and pray. Maybe have an extra belt slot for arrows which can only hold a certain amount of them. Some rangers Just have 70 arrows in inventory and just shoot non stop and pray to hit

The main issue has been bard+wiz+barb and similar combos that had too much speed. I think a better nerf wouldve been to give clarity the nerf it has now and just reduce tranquility numbers. Having to sit down for tranquility makes it that you'd rather place a campfire than run bard

The difference between rogue and ranger is, that the rogue can get punished and countered by fighter wiz bard and barb very easily, while rangers only counter is the ranger itself and kinda cleric and fighter because they dont get oneshot if you can call that a counter

Don't go to hell if you're new... That's not a good idea in the slightest. Focus on monster kills. It seems that you get more xp if you successfully escape also. You can get to 15 in 3 hours of grinding. Just get a better weapon and kill as many mobs as you can. Learn to not get hit. Learn spawn points and get into pvp fights to learn how to survive against players. Being able to dodge and run is a valuable skill but gotta learn the maps

Well since wipe is gonna be soon, it's a good idea to try out hell. It's really easy once you get the hang of it. When you learn all mob attack patterns you will almost never get hit on either map except bosses and HR hell. Just practise and dont be sad when you die. It's all a learning experience 🙂 and as we learned, try to run away from rangers into the storm, place 10 campfires until the zone is almost closed and you can take portal in the last circle and pray to god all rangers already left, because appearently thats the only counterplay that these ranger defenders suggest

The issue with that is exactly what most people complain about that. It gives a single type of play to rogue when they should have other options. Not weakpoint, thrust, and ambush to melt anyone they run into after popping out of invis lol.

Just a bunch of stealth, ambush, thrust, and shadowrunner. That was the main play. Get in, stab 3 times, leave. Entire enemy party would chase, rinse and repeat until they all died lol.

Rogues were able to duel people. Rogues should be a stealthy stabber. Not a duelist.

In a game like this, duelist should be it's own class. Otherwise every class here will have it's own subclass and rigt now, they don't. So why should rogue?

In a game like this, the class needs to fill their niche or why play any other class? It's why bards just got run into the ground. They were better than clerics, could hit as hard as wizards, speed people up, buff them into insanity. It made them more than just a bard. They were a whole freaking concert at that point lol.

@supple timber They can definitely run away before pre nerfs. Shadow runner gives 15% speed after invis. Instead of thrust, run backstab then. It's the same concept. Wait for someone to turn around, stab them in the back, and there is no counter play to getting hit 2-3 times within 2-3 seconds from someone you didn't even know was there.
