Gotta just stick to water map. Yes you still get the occasional skeleton, but from rep 7 onwards you get pirate swordsmen until the 30s, then its bowmen/axe throwers if you don't get bad rng with a skeleton. Even then the skeleton axeman is super doable, as is the archer. Spearman sucks though, just press g like with the skele sword.

The most effective tactics I've found for getting bargains quickly is playing Wizard with Explosion, Fireball and Magic Missile. Run meditate to quickly recover spells, The rest is basically optional but arcane mastery feels great to use for magic missile spam. On Goblin Caves the goblins are incredibly weak to arcane magic so they die in 2 magic missile headshots, even in squire kit. Use Fireball and Explosion to destroy boxes, chests and barrels meditating and clearing monsters with magic missile as needed. For water map anywhere where there's land you can find barrels, boxes, chests and monsters to annihilate. Keep in mind skeletons are weak to fire damage, so you can clump them and stick one with an explosion to save spells and time while still clearing packs of skeletons on the bottom left prison island. If you start in a fresh game you can routinely get 3 bargains before new adventurers stop replenishing the dungeon. From there you just hope at least one of the monsters you get is something you want to play.

Goblin axeman is bad news, Bolaslinger and archer are definitely playable but require smarter play or coordination. But for warrior, warrior is the cream of the crop. just hold w, jump into them and right click while airborne and they should catch a headshot 90% of the time

Well, the tech for goblins is hitting a goblin mage, having it chase you and then cast its buff when you're near a player. For 10 seconds you'll be leagues faster than them. They won't be able to back out

The mages projectiles are pretty easy to dodge and if the players try hitting it you should get free damage on them for it

That strat should take you to 18 rep which is when you'll probably want to swap to water map as a consequence of Spider Mummy being weighted so heavily

I just had 5 runs as Spider Mummy in a row, worst garbage ever existed. You do literally no daamge and die to 1 hit, uterly pointless and waste of one try as monster.

I also believe it helps significantly the later on in the match it is. I assume the less other mobs you can spawn as increase your chances of being a more rare one that aren't killed. The goblin cave is so hit or miss. Sometimes you get a spider mummy and can't really do much. And sometimes you assemble seal team goblin and proceed to wipe the lobby with them. I love it haha

honestly the way to fix faustian bargains frustration is to let you pick what mob you can become from a menu after you die, like "yeah this goblin is available if you want him" having it be random right now is incredibly frustrating and counter intutive for a fun experiance

I disagree with your definition of trolling and griefing. So we need to first find agreement on what would be definitively Trolling and griefing.

To me - Trolling is intentionally negatively oriented behavior pointed from one to another with the intention of upsetting them, "Getting back" at them, or otherwise reducing them, with typical abandon ideally of whether or not the position the troll is holding is healthy/good to hold.

Griefing to me would be intentionally annoying or minimizing the quality of life of a player by doing things with malicious intent, specifically to spoil their enjoyment of the game.

It's more curated than accurate. It makes the identification/application of the definition to any circumstance entirely subjective. Without reward, then yes I think it could be seen in certain circumstances as a griefing mechanic, but I welcome the extra terror it unlocks in the dungeon. It keeps me on my toes and it's nice to see variation with mobs acting more intelligently.

I mean, in the water map a druid can still out pace Faustian Pirates quite easily once they do the panther, chicken to penguin and go from land to land. The Water map AI is only good while your in the water, otherwise you can easily deal with them by a grey spear or even a Ranger can deal with them via their bows. You also have Fighters/Clerics/Barbarians that have shields. The only real classes that probably struggle are rogues (if squire geared) or wizards. If you get jumped by a Faustian and don't react by seeing your health bar go down and the audible que of your character being hit, thats kinda on you.

Hell, even the shark can be dealt with by blocking which most weapons now have with the new update, and its the easiest mob to block since you just gotta look at it directly to block.

Goblin caves most are getting spiders now which is a one to two shot mob, or centipede which anyone can deal with. The only issue I can see is the demons and centaurs maybe as I haven't played those yet. But their movesets are all the same as normal mobs

I agree people can troll online with their words but I feel like that’s just not the same. And its not entirely no cost, you basically have to die at the right time after killing mobs, there can only be so many player mobs, and with the coin system you’re incentivized to make the available pool smaller in order to participate. It’s basically just more PvP, people queue with nothing and die so they can PvP in a different way. There are already people that chase down worthless kills all the time, I don’t see this as any different besides it being easier to deal with. I think part of it is if you think about it as something you do just because you died or something you queue up with the intention of doing.

I do also think it does help knowing the elemental and physical resistances of each mob and being specifically prepared for them but that’s more of a caster thing

Furthermore, the emotions you feel in an engagement with a faustian bargain mob are subjective - I don't get pissed off and filled with the need to express vitriol when I die to one. I don't even say "aw shucks" before getting back to it. It doesn't upset me. Definition broken.

The mechanic is great because in a very unforgiving PvPvE game where final/true (non-resurrected by teammates) death is the ultimate end, you have the opportunity to continue the game as a saving grace and at the very least work on a Dealmaker quest that can help you get Antiquated coins.

Unless you are fighting someone with a bow spider is pretty decent for getting hits. I finished the 3rd deal maker daily for 500 damage against players in less than 10 runs with only spider. I think you are stuck in that range for about 30 is affinity points straight tho

You need 7 mob kills worth of xp for one Faustian bargain. So go into the goblin caves solo with a high dps squire kit. Kill 7 mobs that are not mummy spiders. Die to a mob. You now have one bargain. Rinse and repeat.
