Sounds like spawns are too close to one another and that pve isn't doing it's job to slow down traversing the dungeons.
Nah most of the fights happens in the middle of the map, even if i win my fights there's always a guy pushing me right after and if i manage to kill him too there's a third one, you don't even have time to heal
If that's the case then you're just playing the map poorly, tbh. If you have noticed that this scenario happens often enough to have brought it here to complain about, maybe consider not going straight for the middle of the map and engaging sooner rather than later. Wait out and be the 3rd/4th/5th party instead.
I know spawns and circles are rng, but you can travel through swarm and keep on the edge of the map.
That's not the point, the map is so small that everyone is too close to each other and the mob density is so high that engaging early fights is not always possible
You are never forced to push, man. Just because early fights might not happen doesn't mean that once you've cleared your spawn/a room or two towards the ring you HAVE to keep going and are forced to fight immediately.
I don't get it, your "be the 3rd/4th" is exactly the issue with the map, i'm not complaining cause i die, i'm complaining cause it's not fun
You get punished for taking fights cause there's always that guy close hearing you and waiting for the opportunity, i know it's part of the game but it happens too often in that map and if i'm the one taking that opportunity it doesn't mean the map is fine
Man, as someone who loves pickpocket in the game I don't see how it's ever going to be healthy for it. I saw a suggestion today and also have a few experiences with people rage quitting when they're a fully kitted ranger without any arrows, or a fighter who lost 3 stacks of potions to someone who they can't reach or ever catch up with.
It's like hard CC that's also meta for naked players to make money off of. It can kill three stacks silently for the cost of 2 perks.
I don't think it's a map issue. I think it's more of an issue where you personally don't enjoy that pace of the game. If you're able to take every single from from a fresh start, that's not exactly how the devs really envisioned the game.
Radial menus for utility slots would be nice honestly.
Instead of memorizing number of presses to swap to another item just memorizing what direction on the menu it is seems easier and quicker.
Absolutely something that should be added
this is bait right
wha?
this i mean, this has to be troll
I have never seen someone using pickpocket and not be trolling
I've had fully kitted rangers DC in front of me because I pickpocketed all their arrows and drop them in a corner, and I've killed lobsters by just harassing them all game with random attacks and pickpocketing their health pots.
It's not that it's good, it's that it probably caused a lot of people to quit. People have ran into highrollers for the past 2 seasons completely naked to pickpocket 3 mans and it's been proven to work lmao
I mean, it may work every blue moon, but a decent team would still just kill the rats with no issue
Eh, I disagree. It's sorta been proven to work. It's taken indirect hits with the stealth nerf and stuff but there are people who make their money with just pickpocketing and it's not awful in the slightest. It feels better for sure than trying to kill with base kit rogue, at least for me.
I do agree it's the best way to make money with absolute 0 risk, but it's still not the BEST way to make money, for it is way too situational
It's a way to make money at absolutely 0 risk, proven to work in highroller where it's sustainable, and frustrating or potentially really damaging to players without killing them. Stealing potions and arrows is a big deal. Inventory is part of player power and if rats accidently happen to hit your group early, you could easily be down a stack of potions. That does make a difference and isn't a weak effect on each match.
And if you're playing solo or duo, it only gets more frustrating when you play a fully kitted plate class and constantly bleeding potions.
I like this playstyle and have a load of fun with it but I don't think it's at all engaging for anybody else to need to worry about rats every match. It doesn't have counterplay in the sense that you kill them and just get your stuff back, or you don't kill them and lose potentially hundreds of gold worth of items sometimes.
PLEASE NERF SLAYER FIGHTER IT IS SO BROKEN
Double jump boots
REMOVE THE HALF MADE EVERY ROOM DEAD ENDS GOBLIN CAVES MAP. Finish the shit before you release it
The game needs a bounty system. PvP is inherent to the game, and for a reason. It’s lucrative af to just kill other players and loot their hard earned treasure. But if this game was its own reality, that kind of behavior would be punished, as it should be. It’s toxic, and there should be a risk for that kind of lucrative payout. Put a bounty on player killers. This won’t stop PvP but will make it a much healthier environment, where players will be incentivized to hunt down other player killers. If they’re so skilled that they’re killing whole lobbies every round, having everyone gunning for them should be a welcome challenge, no? There should be competition, there’s limited loot on the map, and obviously limited escape portals. But if you’re killing more than 1-2 people in a match, then it’s clear that your focus isn’t on gathering loot and extracting, as it should be; you’re focused on ruining the game experience for other players. You’re not an adventurer, you’re a bandit, and bandits have bounties.
The game is a PvPvE not a PvEvP, PvP should usually be the first and foremost aspect of a game like this. Trying to De- Incentivize pvp is absolutely a terrible take
If you think Killing other players is toxic, maybe the game isnt for you
No, pvp will still exist, and should. And this won’t remove pvp from the game, there’s still a limited number of portals. You will have to fight. But, this will de-incentivize full geared players queuing norms to slaughter no geared noobs, solely for a few trinkets. Killing players isn’t toxic, but entering lobbies with the sole intent of murdering the entire lobby, when you know that they won’t even have any gear worth wasting your inventory on IS toxic. And it will be the death of this game if it isn’t curtailed.
😂 sure
Unless you believe that the future of this game is meant to be 500-600 hardcore PvP streamers queuing into each other on repeat, in which case I think you misunderstand how to properly build and market a game.
It should be enjoyable for a higher population than just the top 100-300 on the leaderboard.
It would be cool if they merged the maps together into one run however there is a limited number of down portals that all spawn from the start of the game. Encourages purple players to move onto the next zone and leave timmies in safer levels
Let luck potions be in the drop table for loot
anyone got a build for rogues :)? perk and abilities
This would be very interesting, especially if you provided a reason for them to push there quickly, like a vault that is pickable before a certain time passes, but after it locks it can’t be opened. This would make people who were serious about actually getting better loot, and who felt confident about their chances of beating the competition, would leave alone the weaker people who are aiming to just grab what they can and survive to escape.

give back haste
many peeps on youtube, you can 2 shot a lot of classes if you know how to build rogue properly.. I can know.. just got 2 shotted in my full purple set...
thank you
the biggest and most important tool for wiz's survival is the haste/invis (before the nerf) removing this kills the class, it's like removing the ranger's triple shot, the fighter's second wind, the barb's rage... of course there are those Don't use these skills but for the vast majority they are essential
Thank god the wizard who let themselves get run up on doesnt get a get out of jail free card by just haste invising away
Drow race with +1 knowledge, -1 Strength or another stat
Does anyone else find it strange how the longsword has less range than the falchion?
Ik it’s supposed to be a countering weapon but I feel like it’s so weak on all other fronts. The damage is good but against falchions or other long weapons like a spear or a halberd it falls short in damage and range despite being the LONGsword. Anyone else experienced this before?
Is anyone else in favor of expanding the range of skill checks beyond the current ones? I'd like to propose a fundamental shift in how the wizard class works, something more akin to what you find in games like Divinity: Original Sin 2 or similar titles, where base damage is relatively low, but the emphasis is on rewarding players for combining specific elements. Additionally, I think it would be exciting to introduce more interactive weapons, similar to the longsword and its riposte, and incorporate skills that can counter ranged attacks, such as a reflective ability or arrow-catching mechanics. While the game excels in its PvP aspect, it falls short in the fantasy realm. What I'm envisioning is a game where strategy and the synergy of skills and abilities take centre stage, potentially being as important as aiming or gear.
Add PvE mode.
I think that would be a good idea later on, as it is PVE is too boring right now. With more bosses, new weapons and classes and new things like quests and skill trees this would be a good idea.
Would be a way to learn maps and learn PvE. Also could bring in your bros and just chill.
True, I don't think anyone would have an issue so long as the stash for PvE and PvP stays apart. There is a worry for it bringing the player count down in pvp but it would be a unique idea to try when they have the time.
right now the game is just a glorified deathmatch, they either need matchmaking or to expand on the pve so its not a ffa that you have to be prepared for
Meh. Put them together. Who cares. Let people gear in PvE and then try their luck in PvP.
In a death match everyone has a chance. If you are not geared against geared players you have almost no chance.
Remove circle when quests come in so people can actually do PvE content
thats where the glorified comes in, what a special twist
And quests will incentivize players to fight each other at the quest objective locations
How “special”. Would rather play 100 rounds of CoD than get beat by full BIS teams in norms. Though I have beaten them with greys a lot too.
agreed, thats why I think if all this game is going to be is killing then it needs matchmaking.
my favorite map is crypts, but the new meta means if you dont have a team regardless of gear you stand really no chance
Untrue, I was 1 hit off of killing dudes in full purples last night when the best I had was a green arming sword. Takes a bit of skill and sizing up encounters, sometimes you can't/should not fight and other times you wait for your moment to third party them. A skill gap certainly can make things easier as well.
Adding a pve mode to this game would allow people to farm and gear up for free with no risk or consequences and then they can go to pvp with their gear and kill everyone.
The point of this game is that you have to risk and fight your way to better gear, then the reward of getting that gear is getting to feel a little bit of power until you lose it and start the cycle again.
I think if you try experimenting disabling the player trade for a whole wipe it would make it easier for you devs to balance the gear and game out since people would have a harder time finding specific gear you wouldn't have to worry about powerful teams running through lobbies nor worry much about people complaining about it you wouldn't prob feel the need to do all these changes you been doing to balance the game out its the player trade that's causing balancing an issue it would take players a lot longer to build up a powerful kit it would stop people from gearing up quick in 1 or 2 days at the beginning of a wipe people would maybe then feel the incentive to go high roller as that's the only way then to get the purples you would cut down on a lot of the toxic features of this game and behavior from its players and like you devs stated in your announcements you want more time to add content in this game well disabling the player trade gives you that time and you stated you would remove the trade if you couldn't stop the duping so it seems your open to the idea if its for the greater good of the game I believe in the beginning like usual players will complain and wine that's natural but the common players and the experienced players would enjoy it once they see the positives and experience them you would also increase newer players and old ones to come back into the game your goal is money your a company so this all seems worth trying it out experimenting maybe there would be proof through the experiment you don't even need the player trade what if the games better off without it its just an idea perhaps this game isnt made for a player trade it just causing a headache to figure out balancing for you guys
Disabling player trade also makes the game a lot more hollow.
Imagine if you're a solo barb player who finds a purple crystal sword with both add magic damage and add physical damage, near perfect rolls. It's an absolutely great find, worth a lot of money to the right player... but you don't have the ability to do anything with it.
There's no shared stash, so you can't transfer it to a wizard or warlock you own, you have no friends to share it with or help transfer it over to another character, and there's no trade chat for you to sell it to make a huge profit off of this amazing find you found.
I'm not in favor of disabling player trade as long as drops are as random as they are. Finding loot for other classes and selling it off in trade is a huge part of the game loop and taking it away with no compensation is just a terrible idea for general player satisfaction.
SINCE THE POT STACK IS 3 PLEASE SELL THEM DIRECTLY STACKED FROM THE MERCHANT PLS.
it doesn't make the game hollow they want to add more content we don't even know what they have in store and perhaps making it possible to move gear from different characters then would fix your issue entirely and if you find an item in game in a group and your teammate could use it you drop it in game I get it if you cant give or sell it you just got to sell it to the merchant but they could change the selling to merchants maybe if its a purple they increase the amount of gold you get back maybe they add more to the normal merchant and to the crafting they could fix the whole issue you brought up pretty easy
add in pve armored skeletons with insane projectile protection forcing players to melee or use magic. it would compell people to invite warlocks and wizards in the gathering hall to play instead of the standard buffball. as it stands theres no magic immune or projectile immune pve besides bosses and or mages
in game in a group and your teammate could use it you drop it in game So did you even read what I said fully? I just said that imagine you're a solo barb player who is not playing with friends.
In this particular circumstance if there's no trade you are just entirely screwed over. Your 'rare' find is reduced to nothing but vendor bait.
I'm not going to speculate what 'turning off trade' might do in the future, if you make a suggestion you suggest it based on the current state of the game, not a hypothetical future. Given the game's current state this is a bad suggestion.
clearly but I'm using the situation if you were in a group for my example and your item just does the same thing in the player trade the difference is there's more gold in player trade you get in return then in merchants so they would have to just increase the gold you get back in the merchants in your argued case
Again, your entire suggestion relies upon them making other changes simultaneously. I am saying in it's current state the game needs trade. Without it the game is hollow for a very large portion of the playerbase.
Besides that point, a merchant is not going to offer any different money for something they know is a god roll and something that isn't. The system is very unsophisticated right now only giving money off of type and rarity. A vendor won't know if a roll is good or not by default.
the game feels hollow already people leaving player base is dropping I'm not saying the vender can somehow know what's good or not but simply you just get more gold then you do now selling greens blues and purples
they are already making changes simultaneously perhaps in its current state it does but not after a change
Playerbase is currently not here because of the situation with the foreboding wipe.
It's pointless to play right now knowing that the wipe is coming up in a week or two based on comments from the dev that they were gonna have a wipe last only 3 weeks.
It was a dumb decision by them, but it's for sure the reason there are so few people playing. There were a large number of people that made the decision to sit out based on the patch before this one which was widely unpopular, and those people may not have started playing against just because of the patch that fixed many of those problems due to the upcoming wipe.
you watch game discussion you can see people are upset and stating the same arguments and as to why they are leaving the game sure wipe has an effect but thats not the main reason player count is dropping
I don't see those people stating that 'removing trade' is the way to go.
Just because people are whining, as they always are does not mean that it supports your decision. The playercount will come back up with the next patch after the wipe, you can just watch for it.
it will come back up with the right changes none the less they was about to remove it anyway why not test what really happens without it your speculating just as much as I am what could happen obvious to say make the change along side the correct other changes that need to follow with it for an experiment like that to give any plausible info
Dude, removing trade entirely is not gonna help and it's not gonna be the thing that people want long term.
There is going to be a massive backlash from that, and testing it in a time where they already have had a tentative playercount and people are ALREADY questioning their decision making has the potential to be the thing that kills the game.
As I mentioned some people have been waiting to play until next wipe because they didn't like the first patch of this wipe, those people coming back only to see they ENTIRELY REMOVED trade are going to be extremely upset.
I don't really care how much you think this will 'solve the game' removing trade entirely is not going to be the way forward, far too many people will quit from it. It would be like removing leveling entirely as a 'test' it's just not going to happen.
I've seen suggestions of an 'ironman queue' which is marketedly less unhinged even though it divides the playerbase. Your suggestion is just outright delusional. They cannot do that, it is an integral part of the game.
it hasn't happened therefor we both are speculating cant see the future i see ups you see downs doesn't mean it couldn't work your stating it has to be in this current time I never said it has to be now it can be whenever its just an idea for them to use any problem you come up with to my idea there could be a work around solution again its just a suggestion for them
At the end of the day some experiments aren't worth running.
If they wanted to see the effect 'no trade' would have on the game they could create an 'ironman queue' as I said, which is something other people have said.
This would not only show how trade effects the data of people's accounts but it would show how many people are interested in non-trade vs trade gameplay. Your experiment is just not worth running because it doesn't give nearly as much data as an ironman queue would.
with other changes along side my suggestion it could be a great idea clearly the idea alone isn't good but with added other changes alongside it it could be and grant data
Man .. u guys still don’t get it, it’s like you actively try not to understand..
The game already has very long queues for high roller.
Yet u want item cap lobbies, and you want starter gear lobbies..
The game has 10k ppl playing, spread over 5 regions, there are 3s map 2s map and solos map, the solo and 3s map also has high roller.
And now u want to add MORE ways to split the community.
No matter how bad the game is balanced, the worse thing possible is insanely long queue times or empty games.
You guys complain about being farmed by kited players (fair, it’s lame AF) but if ur lobby was empty or u had to wait 10mins to play a round that lasts 10mins, u would be even more unhappy.
The solution to kited players farming timmies, is NOT gear matchmaking lobbies..
Not to mention , it’s anti fun.
Personally I like the fact that there is a chance I go into a lobby with average gear and could get out bis.
Gear matchmaking just ruins that part of the game, u maybe get small upgrades from other players but ur mostly getting better gear from chests.
It will stagnate the game by a lot
So let’s imagine a scenario , you queue for gear matchmaking, you wait 6mins for game to start , it starts with 8/16 players, you go in play the round for 10mins, come out with 3 slight upgrades.
That’s fun!
All of you guys that say "this game needs matchmaking" should take just a couple minutes thinking deeper about it, before coming here and posting it.
It is NOT a solution to anything
Ironman queue would give all the data that yours would, and more. There's no reason to restrict people to having 'no trade'.
If the game had bigger number, lets do it, im 100% for it, but with these numbers, we cannot do that, it will be the death of this game.
Other companies, other games in similar situations have done it, and it was game over
never was against your idea for ironman queue I'm open to knowing anyway how many people are interested in non-trade vs trade gameplay. I want to know how trade effects the data of people's accounts
People would drop loot in game for streamers
Then suggest ironman queue instead of suggesting removal of trade entirely.
they can do that already give streamers loot and they do
I'm not just open to 1 idea but multiple you cant seclude yourself to 1 way thinking or 1 way ideas I'm open to anything
These two ideas are mutually exclusive. You can't have an ironman queue that exists without trade. One of these ideas is superior in terms of data collection, thus if you are to run an 'experiment' suggest the one that is more effective.
Running both of them is not tenable as there are not enough players to have two separate servers doing this for effective data collection on an experiment.
never said run both simultaneously
Running both at different times is unnecessary. They both test for the same data, but one does so more effectively. One also has the potential effect of alienating a large portion of the playerbase whereas the other is less likely to. There is no point testing both.
bro. then they wouldnt be using a gray crystal sword
also they need to add back the rare cap again
never said run both at different times
as much as i disliked it i liked seeing normal geared people and not full purple and orange geared kids
Then you argued with me for no point? In the future if someone suggests a better alternative to your suggestion just say: "Yeah, that sounds fine to me." and move on, instead of doing what you did.
I talked for the suggestion I made to your attacks against it and I stated I didn't disagree with your suggestion
they need to fix the rubber banding in this game ffs. I've had two high rollers be completely ruined because of it.
@barren jacinth Nice Demon glee in normal game vs naked. BIG pgm! 😂
They should make troll a lot more quiet so it isn't countered as much
IMO they could reduce the radius in which you can hear the troll at all
for the love of god stop letting rangers place infinite traps in fucking bodies PLEASE
I suggest the devs here ask for a meeting with the devs over at DAOC Eden. Balancing isn’t easy. They are listening to the wrong people. Steamers, and seal clubbers. The team over at Eden has proven wildly successful at balancing voices and game.
Most players who have a high extract rate are easily gearing themselves up in 1-2 days by themselves - trade is actually just helping mid tier players get more BIS, and allowing low tier players to get workable sets.
I suggest join the leavers and reduce player base further, maybe IM will realize that 90% of last 10 patches content was a huge failure. The game development was going so well during the playtests and they were able to fix many stuff even during weekly playtests which was quite amazing, but now they just offer some drastic changed for weeks. Did they hire some unexperienced balance designers or wtf is going on? Game development is a joke since EA started
The game should introduce a ranking system to highroller (Similar to LoL's normal and ranked system — It worked wonders and it's a very similar game to DaD if you think about it).
Add in solo/duo que matchmaking for it (to pair up 3 mans), and a 3 man queue. Lower the entrance fee, if not, remove it. The rats will be 'peasant' league anyways.
Event suggestion: Every other week or during event intervals, choose a random map and make the drops 10x. Make it base kit or naked, zero to hero. Use what you find, with rank brackets or leaderboards. Lots of players on each lobby, full Battle Royale style.
Clerics need a ranged option. My thought is
Holy Bolt!
Classic spell, implemented like in Diablo, a single damage bolt fired at enemies, extra damage to undead. A level 3 spell maybe 4, but it should be somthing to balance their entirely mele kit. I think this because if I'm right, they are the only class without solid ranged options, somthing to at least return poke 😆
Bring back item caps.
Upvote if you like the idea! What are your thoughts?
semi forceful karma system idea
https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506812/make-a-karma-system-based-on-player-kills
the idea is that its constantly fluctuating, but if youre hard commiting youll get stuck in bloodbowls
Game shouldn't just end, should be stronger and stronger gas, nobody fights eachother in 3's and nobody will fight near the end cause they have to open portals. no time to fight, no time to loot.
I think they should just do a full pvp mode, and let normals and highrollers be more pve/RPG focused.
10x drop rate, use what you find.
Start naked
30+ players per lobby
Would be fun as hell
Lowkey sounds cool, but I feel like 30 or more people in a lobby would be a performance catastrophe for the servers as it stands
I don't really ever say anything in this Discord. I've enjoyed the game for a while. But I really don't like the current state of Goblin Caves, which is all I really ever play. It is fighter dominated, and there isn't much I can do about it. If they pop healing or sprint, I am usually dead. Even if I outplay them, sometimes significantly, their tankiness prevails.
Also, I've just been seeing more of them recently. I got into 10 PvP scenarios this play session. 1 rogue, 1 wizard, 1 ranger, 1 barb, and 6 fighters (I did count.)
can not find friend in trade chat and does not recieve my trade requests??
@oblique pewter Gotta get that 100 gold somehow. 🤷♂️ Spend it all on the gear 😉
big agree
Possible suggestion on anti intenional timmy slaying.
Add a timmy slayed score and gear score system that's hidden to the player, Only applies to normal Crypt and GC and won't do anything major until a certain threshold is passed.
For gear score, it is calculated with every non-utility * 2^(item rarity tier) plus every utility * item rarity tier.
For timmy slayed score, it is calculated with
(your whole team average gearscore on join) / (killed player gear score on join) Each time you kill someone, you gain score based on the above formula, you starts with 0, that scores reduces by 1.5625% for every minute passed in dungeon or every hour is passed.
When matchmaking, the probably of joining a matchmaking server is calculated by this:
your team gearscore average / server average. If your gearscore is above server average, then 1 / the result. Default fail threashold is 1, that is after failing to join 1 time, the next join attempt is guaranteed.
If your timmy slayed score is above 1000 (You can exceed 1000 point if you:
=11 naked killed as half green half blue,
=7 naked killed as full blue, >=5 naked kill as half blue half purple, >=4 naked killed as all purple, >=3 naked killed as full purple orange weapon, per round for all of them), fail threshold increase by 1 per 10 point extra from 1000 rounded down. That force pub stompers to match with similarly geared players on normal. Threashold will always be 1 in High roll or Ruin.
This will make highly geared player ever-so-slightly less likely to be matched with naked (by ~1%), however if you are a proven timmy slayer, that % will goes up exponentially, and eventually so high that pub-stompers have to join high-roll.
Hey guys! New here. Was there already a discussion about seperate head/bodyshot multipliers for different weapons?
Used to grind Mordhau/Chiv back in the days and I feel like these changes would make weapon-balancing far easier:
- Arms shouldnt be considered "limb damage", since it makes head-telegraphed weapon-anims so much better.
- With that in place: Different dmg-multipliers for head/body for different weapons to make balancing easier. Longbow/xbow could still be deadly on headshots but not as rewarding on bodyhits. Falchions (which everyone complains about in general chat) - as a slashing weapon - shouldnt hit as hard on head, but harder on body. This would also balance out the relatively easy to use animation from falchion ... It creates way to much space with that horizontal swing. And Im a Slayer main, mind you.
Such a change to Torso/Limb would also make for a better experience for newer players, who cant properly see wether they hit the shoulder or head - thus feeling overpowered by the gear of their enemy, while in reality they got bonked, when they themselves hit arms (resulting in 75% health vs 0% .. Which feels rly bad).
I totally agree with this. Trade chat needs to change ASAP due to real money sellers, an unfun system and people easily get BIS to run regulars or snowball after a loss.
thanks we just need some candy
Why arrows slow more than a fucking magical ice bolt?

make portal opening times universal fuck bards opening portals in 0.1 seconds and it takes me 7 seconds on barb
What did you lose? 🤣
oh ive lots lots to it, but really just got cheesed bc a fighter bunny hopped over 7 mobs like he was a rouge with double jump off a spiders head and it takes me 5 minutes to open a portal
To solve your problem, press Q, then press E and then kill him
i only die to 3 things in solo HR GC. traps from rangers being hidden in boddies ( the most broken thing in the game) Mobs literally never deargoing me despite invis potting and running across the map not attack while other people hit me forever and draw 0 agro and being greedy with portals and then having it snatched or some other stupid mechanic happen bc it takes barbs over 7 seconds to open a fucking escape
Bring back gear score lobbies. That is all.
Here's my suggestion for Dwarf racial traits. Leave a vote if you like it! https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506506/dwarf-racial-trait-suggestion
This game needs to add a witch hunter class (grim dawn-like) ❤️
maps needs to be 3x the size why can i run down an entire lobby
I'm not a fan of gear score matchmaking but I think there's a simple solution. The game was more fun when purples were high roller only. However It crashed the value of purples and purples should be superior than blue for the most part. So how about we make blues and purples identical across the board. Then we add two stats that can roll on purples only. Plus undead damage and undead def. This would clearly make purples better than blues but balanced in pvp.
HR needs to be higher risk/reward so people over geared go there instead of normals, i dont know how but you seriously need to incentivate overgeared sweaters go hunt somewere else
i dont think pve stats are going to make much of a diff imho
level cap to 30 with added passive slots and stat scaling would be nice to see stats++increase x amount per level /lobbies 1-20 then capped lobbies 20-30 that only start when full
Why not? I would clearly want the good gear that make clearing pve faster. Plus it will kinda help in pvp indirectly. We have all been there with mobs on us trying to fight players.
People in norms should have to pay an entry fee to get in if they’re running purps or higher
gear really isnt an issue to get especially when people are farming dead servers on ruins with free reign printing gold
it is better overall, yes. but at the end of the day how many deaths can you blame to pve
well it's more about blues and puples being on the same level in regards to pvp. We just give purple gear a quality of lfe stats to make them superior. When they made to where purples only in HR. Purple gear value dropped to nothing. that shouldn't happen.
yes absolutely, purple must be more valuable and expensive than blues 100%
Can they fix fucking rubberbands as a Rogue rubberbands kills me a lot of the fucking time and the servers are always so unstable
And so I am stopping playing the game until they actually stop coming out with bad balance changes every week or two. I don't know why they did not make haste and invisibility SELF CAST, along with never nerfing ranger. The game overall is just not as fun as even the first EA release. I don't know how they could have changed it for the worse so many times when on almost every playtest the game was beyond fun. The new content is great, but what is really killing the game is the balance changes. Fighter barbarian cleric and even warlock to an extent were fine, rogue needed some changes and when made they were a bit fair and balanced and now you can play the class as somewhat intended. I understand wizard maybe doing too much burst damage on base kit but it required skill in default gear/Grey spellbook to have a chance. With that being the main wizard issue, you target everything else as well and more. Meanwhile no matter what class you play, a ranger will kill you before you know what happened or before you can do anything and 19 hot fixes later and they will still kill you before you can do anything. The game is just not fun any more no matter how many times you adjust the loot, the classes are the main part of the game and currently it is horribly unbalanced and just not fun. Wiping so often as well just kills any momentum you had getting past these problems, especially for the average working person that cant play DnD 8 hours a day.
Sir Yapsalot
I guess we are playing different games
Yeah melee classes I feel are at a good spot, but when you don't feel like playing melee it's just ass
And reading different patch notes
To be fair though: it may seem as if wiping every month hurts working ppl/casuals but I think it's quite the opposite.
When there's no incentive for higher geared players to do HR, then with time they will swarm GC even more. You can't ever outgear a person that has more time than you do 😦
What needs to happen is definitely for HR to be more rewarding and making GC less attractive, without hurting timmies there.
To me the change to portalspawn seems to trying to hurt highrollers, so they have a chance of actually getting hurt at the end. In reality it did the opposite. Now you can't even rat anymore if you don't like to have playerinteraction for some reason or another.. 😦
The thing i don't like about this patch is the busted slayer Fighter, the rest seems fine, Wizard is fine as it is for me, back in old days vs a melee class in 1v1 was instawin, now they need to be good, it's fine cause Wizard have high skill floor to be effective
Why is slayer busted though? To me it's not slayer that's busted, but nearly all other classes too weak in relation to the skill one needs to pilot them.
Honest question.
Slayer can 3 shot every other class in the game, the damage is too high and he can "activate" the skill with lantern without losing any speed
Sorry but that's too shallow of an analysis for me. By extention I could argue that fireball is busted (which it clearly isn't).
Or to put it differently: how would u fix slayer? I'd suggest to make other classes more viable again and maybe fix falchion.. But that's another topic..
Do u guys know if there are different head/body dmg-multipliers for different weapons in place already? I find the combination of speed, accuracy (due to horizontal animation) and head-dmg on the falch too strong.
It's not as simple as "dmg is too high" when in reality TTK depends on more than just raw dmg.
It's clearly the damage bro, slayer need to be nerfed, the +5 damage is just too high and lantern should not be considered a weapon to trigger the perk
They should experiment with slayer like they did with axe specialization, it was +10 and was op, then +5 and still op, than they made +10% and it was trash and now it's+3 and it's balanced, they need to do the same experiments with Slayer to find a good balance
Bringing high tier gear into normals should cause condition and durability loss on said gear.
god no to durability. why we lose thing on death
I agree. Speaking simply, I think the game will gain no benefit from durability. More of nuisance really.
I like where your heads at though. But instead of durability, maybe something else 🧐 without getting too off course, I think the possibility of highlighting a player that is in high or very rare gear. Making people more likely to target them 🎯 could get... Interesting...
This will only encourage high tier players though 😄
Just make HR more worthwhile and GC less beneficial. The smol pp-club ppl who enjoy stomping Greys while mocking them will always find a way. Things just tend to be even more so, when they get bored - and that's the case right now sadly.
we need a friend list to add people or im not seeing it
Or make one stat line drop off of it. 10% chance a stat falls off a blue con. 15% purple. 17% legendary
4% green
Ud still have the raw dmg though :/ I doubt this would change much in terms of breaking points (except for fringe cases ofc).
That should be affected as well. Possibly different ratios
I dig the idea of removing stats though, don't get me wrong.
is anyone that good in the game that they are keeping the same weapon, dungeon after dungeon
Great warriors don’t wear legendary armor going to town for groceries. They wouldn’t want to get it dirty, they would save it. For when the time comes for battle.
So maybe a cap like.. if you bring in a purple chestplate it will give you a warning ⚠️ before you join a normal like..
It will say; "your purple items will be adjusted down to their max blue counterpart for normals, do you want to continue searching for a normal match?"
I'd say bring all the equip down to its green/blue version (GC/ruins respectively). Being full green in GC is still strong as fuck, while at the same time not giving the impression of having no chance.
Bc what do most ppl look up after they got killed: Def not the stats of the gear, but first and foremost the tier of the gear.
Couls be two birds with one stone.
Buff hide a little. No way white invis pots are better 😦
This. Although I'd say green for GC is more than enough. And would make them think twice before losing their valuable blues/purples.
Greens can be decent enough! Agreed
But why? You must have minus IQ to bring a purple in normals with that system
People will mainly see the color of the gear cause they don't know how gear works, they see a purple armor and start being mad, they do not care if the rolls on that armor are trash tier
My point exactly.
Two birds. One Stone.
Upvoted.
No that's not your point, gear should keep its color and stats
My thought is that if you bring anything higher than green with this system you have minus IQ, at this point just gear cap
Calm your tone a lil, hm?
I am calm
Also: would be nice if you wouldn't just raise opinions but instead fully fleshed out arguments or even a fully formulated sentence about your concerns. Right now your just playing the reaction-game.
@lone crescent if the devs understand our message then it's more than enough for me
For example: Kaite mentioned in her stream that gear cap could be a problem. Why is that? I'm very open to explanations.
How would nerfing gear benefit the game in any way? Why should someone ever carry a nerfed piece of equipment in a game? Isn't gear cap a better option?
Because if it's the best equipment they own, but they also feel like still having a proper advantage over normal players they will.
Gear cap was a bad option because you needed 2 sets of gear in order to run 2 different dungeons. That resulted in ppl dropping the higher tier dungeons and prices went through the roof for greens...
Or they could take that gear at full force to HR
Gear cap is a problem cause when blue gear cap was a thing selling or buying anything above purple was worthless and blue gear were worth much more than legendary
And if you drop the one purple with trash rolls that is useless on HR you can't use that item at all
With @bigfish his suggestion ud still be able to use the same set in any instance, but with a cost.
If you think going down from tier 4 to tier 2 is too hefty, then let's find a middle ground: tier 2.5 which is better than green but worse than blue.
The best equipment they have and they waste it in normals to get nerfed to trash tier? No one will ever do something like that
I do see your point. But for the sake of discussion: are you seeing how full blue/purple in GC hurts the game right now?
I'm not gonna take a weapon in the dungeon just to be nerfed, I'd rather build a different set
Again: do you have a better solution? I'd like to hear it. But you just being like "nay nay nay" isn't helping in the slightest.
Definitely not hurting my experience, i'm running a green kit and i'm killing the so called pub stompers, the gear disparity never been so low
I wasnt talking about YOUR experience, but the health of the game.
Also: if you kill high tier ppl with greens only then the suggested softcap shouldn't hurt you in the slightest either.
People blame the game when all they need is getting better at the game, unless you have grey gear most of the fights are winnable and losing is part of the game, like gear disparity too
We saw the blue gear cap and honestly nothing changed in normals
I personally never bring gear too strong than what i need in normals cause i don't want to risk for no reasons
Now your last sentence is a proper one. The rest is pure elitism, that I've seen since the dawn of Tribes:Ascend. And do you know what happened with that one? Yea. If your OK with being in your club of 500ppl all servers combined then be my guest - I know ppl who are fine with that. To me it's a shame, for what could have been a great game, held back by ARTIFICIAL barriers.
Have a great day. I'm going to touch grass now.
It's not elitism, you should hope for people to have gear in normals whenever you play, if everyone's gear is bad you will not have any upgrade and the game feels boring.
The only issue is with newer players, but handholding them is not a solution for a number of reasons like players smurfing (as in <15 lobbies) and the creation of a system where you make new players feel powerful just to face the reality of the game only later and hit a wall that will make them lose all their confidence and make them feel unable to play.
I played from PT4 and in that test i extracted literally 0 times and still i liked the game, there's no reason to hold back new players from the real experience
Just a perk idea I had a bit ago: https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506511/cleric-of-the-cloth-perk-idea
Now these are sound arguments. Thank you!
So how would you fix the problem for new players being driven away? Because that's an issue no matter how you look at it. Some part of it can be fixed through proper community guides (I still have to see a guide that explains spacing and accelerating attacks) but others can't.
And please don't say "the need to get better". Neither you nor I can force them to get better before them leaving the game for good.
Or lemme rephrase:
- how could newer players be introduced in a less frustrating way?
- how could the game help newer players to better understand their mistakes?
Both points are in regards to the experience of nubcakes. Not the stats itself (which might be another issue, but following your train of thought: might not be what's holding them back atm).
they should add an auctionhouse where you can post things so you dont have to sit in trade for hours
For me they need to add quests and more content and easier/more efficient ways to get gear, gear should not be seen as a goal to reach but as a tool you need to play. Even if you are not good at the game you need some small wins like for example quests like "kill x skeleton guardsman" that gives you a certain amount of gold that you can spend on a revamped trading system (they are already working on that) to get decent gear, all of that without the need to extract and actually "winning" a game
Is already announced to happen. Maybe even still in November.
amazing
To learn the game i don't think we will ever have an in game tutorial or guide, it's just experience and youtube guides
The harsh truth is that this game is not for everyone and if a player is not into hardcore games the devs doesn't have to change the game for them cause they will end up making the game worse for those who enjoy the genre
@grand totem #the-tavern message
ty
I am into hardcore games. As are many others, who still see issues with how certain mechanics deter newbs from the game.
I mean.. I spared with fucking Stouty in Mordhau (got my arse handed) for hours.. Have thousand of hours in Hau and chiv combined and even more in Battle Brothers. I know punishing games.
As for the rest: In my experience nothing good comes after "the harsh truth is".
Again: I am talking about the experience being artificially "hardcore" when in reality "hardcore" refers more to how infuriating the game is, than to how challenging it may be. And what happens then? Well the most fucked up ppl with the most fucked up minds will stick to the game, since it's their normal habitat. There's nothing skillful about that. Its just a miserable community at that point.
I think the most tutorial-y thing we need is making a default kit queue. If you're wearing a default kit, you can opt into joining a specific matchmaking that only matches you against default kits. Add a button to unequip everything and give you a full default kit to play with.
Keep everything else basically the same.
We had that in Mordhau... Was fucking up newbs even more since vets were just speeding all over the place naked 😦
Don't know how to fix it but yea.
Also: I never called for tutorials. I've still have to see a useful tutorial in any game so far.
In fact.. Now that I come to think of it: that's trauma-bonding.
@nimble harbor yeah i gave my solution, small wins that will make you earn some gold even if you get constantly destroyed, you then can afford decent gear and play, players needs those small wins
Aye. You did. Apologies for my smol rage. You had a good suggestion there.
maybe fix the cost of a stack of bolts its 20g for 15 but 5g for 5 stop wasting my time buying it 3 times
Source? That's harrowing for me to hear.
With how terrible trade chat has been, not expecting them to come up with some kind of alternative or improvement is just a bit naive.
Oh no Improvements sure, 100%. An auction house however would completely ruin late mid game and end game as well as harm player skill.
How does it harm player skill? Is it a skill check to be sitting in trade chat for half an hour to find what you're looking for?
https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506968/default-skills-for-all-classes
I think that having more perks in general is a good idea. But each class should have one by default. Some of them like Second Wind and Hide are too good to pass up, so why not make them permanent and give every class a solid, permanent skill?
No sauce. Just ketchup 😉
I'm usually far from being a rumor-machine but this time I couldn't resist.
I think a break from balancing and cosmetics to focus on content and quality of life would be good for the community of dark and darker just saddens me to see the player base static at a such low Player count. IMO I don’t mind the changes I do mind the lack of players and think content and quality of life changes would be a good use of time. Much love iron mace I hope this is heard

This game is mid af rn
dont forget guys that on average people have an IQ of 85 - 115, and most of the hang out here!
self report kekw
"kekw"
the ""kekw"" 😂
I think rogue needs more starting will and less starting intelligence. JUST SAYIN.
https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506935/new-future-race-the-stoneborn
a suggestion for a new race tell me your thoughts on it please 🙂
Seems too op and too rng
congrats for reducing portals in solos and shoving them all inside a circle so that the geared can collect all the treasures so they don't have to look for anything. they enjoy the feeding and makes the game so excited for them. I guess Goblin Caves are the high roller with simplicity of feeding them.
Goblin caves was a pve map before with everyone friendly
the devs need to go run some hr goblin caves, and see how shitty that bottom right room is for portals.
Bros mad he actually has to fight.
goblin caves was always a mistake tbh
trying to fix teaming won't do anything to fix its many other fundamental issues
exactly! I am debating just killing myself and moving to the next game to avoid having to fight my way to a circle that has super geared people waiting with open arms to collect anything I bring them. I don't think the devs want that either, but this isn't what makes a game fun.
https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/504333/the-3-floor-dungeon-with-the-removal-of-highrollerHighroller Highroller should be removed when the full 3 floor dungeon experience comes out (ruins 1st floor/ Catacombs 2nd floor/ Inferno 3rd Floor) the first floor would be the current Normal, 2nd floor would be Highroller and 3rd would be an even harder "High roller Plus" with mostly Nightmare tier enemies and even better loot. Additonally a couple options to skip floors, maybe an Item from the merchants that summons red portals as well as a potential shrine that also summons them. The leaderboards would track the 2nd and 3rd floors.
I don't usually team, but I have "helped" some players after dealing with player types who enjoy the "bully" factor.
ding dong bannu
Add a filter in your stash to filter items like in the trader!
Ohh Inventory filters are nice
yess i’m tired of looking through 10 rings and pendants to find which one has knowledge or weapon dmg or strength or whatever
Stop scamming ppl buying 15 bolts
ideas how to make the game only grow in pop over the years, most ideas taken from rust:
-
introduce each month or two a devblog(take a look at rust devblogs) with new content and such, even if small content.
In general people like to see a blog page with pictures/videos and such, even with something that is not ready yet but upcoming in future.
Its much better than some text in discord channel. -
introduce new procedurally generated maps.
-
add extreme challenges, for example possibility to go even deeper in HR inferno to even deeper realm and face nearly impossible to beat boss, to the point no one will be able to defeat him for months after release, not even once.
also i played rust for years, and it keeps me playing.
each gameplay session on a server is on a unique map(procedurally generated) that creates unique experiences, with wipes and new content you keep coming back to play it.
@dawn grotto @keen onyx
Please reduce magic resistance in mobs accross teh board, having to use one spell per mob is awful.
makes the game boring as hell.
Meanwhile every melee class with white gear can 2-4 shot mosts mobs...c lear super fast. It's really awful
Or give a gray quarter staff as a starter melee weapon to wizards.
A flail (spikeball on a chain)
in order to use its main attack you have to press or hold something to start spinning it over your head (maybe with an active hurtbox?)
and then you're able to swing
Could be another weapon for clerics, fighters, and maybe barbarians?
add back the rare and below cap in norms
Imo, they should replace the circle with a minotaur that is released after a certain time and hunts players down. Its near unkillable and mostly one shots players but can be avoided for a bit before it aggros
And after a longer period of time after the minotaur, the swarm comes in and ends the game
fix your game, connection issues are making this game unenjoyable, also fix the reconnection system it takes on average 3 times to get back into the game where you get to find out that youve been dead for 5 mins and some lvl 1 has your entire kit
give rogues a parrying offhand dagger plz
Barbarian needs a nerf. Buff ball needs a nerf.
We need: skill trees, new level, new class, auction house, and for items to switch places with eachother through the drag and drop system.
Thank you for the great game

man I want content but I feel like devs always do the opposite of what their testing tells them. nobody asked for a ranger buff!!!
what if they made armor only effective if you hit the associated body part, like in tarkov. for example a BIS fine cuirass wont stop a one tap headshot if you arent wearing any head armor
would require a departure from the currently used system but they could rework it so that different pieces give a certain percentage of dmg reduction
wouldn't boots and gloves be kinda useless except for stats
limb damage? could just lump in the percentage of legs + boots for leg modifier
gloves would give an extra percentage towards arm dmg etc
okay
Any chance at making the hud stay at 16:9 even though you're at a higher aspect ratio like 21:9 - 32:9
wouldn't hurt my feelings i enjoy several different games and there is another game similar to this one out there. Besides your the one with a dishonest nick.
hurt feelings are okay
Not stabbing that Timmy with 0 loot is punishable by death
Suggestion: Class has 50g to create a basic loadout that can be saved.
DEATH BY SNU SNU
Facts, though, for real.
I get people like the easy gamemode and solo play, but it's impossible to reconcile with the game's original vision
I think the biggest "hurt" is inflicts is the variety within Crypts. Which, assuming they actually go back to the tiered system as originally intended, who knows what will happen to GC. Maybe it'll become an LTE on a rotation with other designs? But regardless, Crypts is hit hard by duos existing in Ruins and solos existing in GC, for multiple reasons.
yep
solos killed team diversity, which turned crypts into 3stack city and killed pub play, which turned crypts into overgear-or-naked stompfests
I am thinking now they are adding races that cannot equip starting gear you should make a store called lost and found that has all junk gear and free and have character start with nothing anyou can bring what you want from that way
Not entirely... but for certain it did kill team comp variety. I don't think pub matching will ever do well with a game of this design, even if it were the tiered system, based on the concept of "thinning out" teams and subsequently consolidating lobbies as you go deeper.
PLEASE reinstate no gear above blue in base dungeons... keep that in high roller.
it made the economy really weird
That's only because people refuse to go to/learn HR.
mhm
absolutely not that was the worst patch lol
im with chicken that shit ruined the market, it made finding high end gear not even exciting because you know it wouldnt sell unless perfect bis rolls
Statistically speaking it was the best in terms of player count and the amount of complaining going on
because the minority speaks the loudest
The community has basically been screwing itself by refusing to play HR. The more people play HR the harder time gold farmers will have to queue snipe, as well. But hey man, let's just keep coping and seething about gbmm being a good thing.
i would legit leave 90% of purples that i found because they had one roll that wasnt perfect so you'd spend 30+ mins in trader trying to sell only to merchant it for 7g lol
im with you on that for sure... i think most people are just intimidated by HR because they have a hard enough time breaking even on an average session so the idea of paying 75/100g to most likely get ganked by someone better than them doesnt seem worth... BUT if more people just played it you would have alot more mixed games and wouldnt always be fighting people better... they just need to add some kind of break in system, like first 10 games are free or something....
HR made up a significant amount of games played pre-GC, and that was back during the playtest-boosted loot and event candy days.
Nobody's going to touch HR as long as they can get what they want elsewhere, easier and faster, whether that's PvP or loot.
Honestly, you can't blame the players. The players will always go towards the path of least resistance. If they're having more fun in normals, then that's that.
You need to make HR more fun, then the problem solves itself. It's a game dev issue.
Highroller needs a ranked system, otherwise it's a failed concept. Most won't want to have a huge jump in PvE difficulty ALONG with a huge PvP difficulty increase at the same time. Not to mention the gear gap.
I disagree. Otherwise you wouldn't have people competing for leaderboards at all.
That's the point, leaderboards makes it fun for a larger number of people.
IMO, just add a ranked system to HR so that it opperates like LoL, then you have people that know they won't be getting skill-gapped, gear-gapped, and pve rekt at the same time.
You're contradicting yourself
How? My point was that people play what is funnest. If you make HR more fun, people play HR.
What is making HR not fun for people? Mostly the Skill, gear, and pve difficulty increase, not making it feel worth it and feeling like you're getting sweat on constantly.
Lower the gap by making ranked leagues (Peasant, Squire, Knight, Noble..), and you'll see people find it's more rewarding with things to strive for like more rank/elo(aka more fun). — The casuals get to see gear progression, and sweats see more intense PvP against other good players.
HR leaderboards is this idea in action, where more people play HR during leaderboard, then go back to normals typically.
The first sentence in this and your first paragraph of your first message directly contradict one another.
I don't have time to debate this right now, but the long story short of it is what @abstract swallow said many times by now... so long as GC exists as a means by which players can find success at next to no risk, there won't be a successful form of HR.
nerf fighter
pretty much
it doesn't even have to be loot, as long as GC is avaliable as a quick and easy option for gameplay it'll be junk food 90% of players will take over more advanced content
look at all those content creators and leaderboards junkies that immediately jumped ship from HR Crypts to record all their solo content in GC
You mean:
"The players will always go towards the path of least resistance."
and
"people play what is funnest. If you make HR more fun, people play HR."
These don't contradict. — If I were to rephrase I would say "The path of least resistance to fun".
What is fun for some might not be fun for the majority, which is why we see such a low player count in HR. — fully congruent here in a general view.
Why did they remove voip and names in pre lobby?
a certain group of people north of australia
oh right. Please god can we just region lock them
I beg reset character level on wipe im getting bored
… the next wipe Is a full one …
warlock is a pain in the ass to play rn especially at zero gear, imo the best way to touch him up is:
-keep prices (before tortury mastery) the same
-instead of x2, maybe 1.5x for only CoP
-remove healing off hydra
this way we can actually have fun without the stress of missing an ability and being punished crazy for it, and getting rid of hydra healing due to how poweful it is at (currently) 9 magical healing
BRING BACK GEAR CAP PLEASE! It was the best version of the game
no, it wasnt lol, level cap was maybe, but gear cap was terrible, people would still go in with stacked blues and fuck u up, also what if someone finds a lucky purple and they HATE high roller, then its trash since it wont sell cause apperently no one likes HR
cringe juicers need to leave the timmies alone
if anything, i have an idea, and its far fetched but this is jus a concept. what about new weapon and armor types, for example, rare items that can be found in green rarity+ like a combat bow, which is basically in between a longbow and a recurve alowing for new types of strats, that can ONLY be used in HR, which makes more people wanna be playing HR
whats the difference between that and just making a gear cap
Pretty much.
Warlock needs buff to healing scaling (is currently .25 of healing), bring it back to 0.5 or 1.0 since the healing you can find is much less. Perhaps increase healing off of players, less off minions.
remove healing off hyrda,
nerf blow of corruption, either by duration, so you have to use it at the right time, or the damage.
Give a skill-shot cc
@pure summit you might like the suggestion i posted (idk if IM even looks at this channel)
While I do agree it's currently unfort that crypt is basically all trios and GC is the designated solo's map it's a pandora's box style situation.
If they remove a solo-only map the amount of people that'll just quit the game because it was the main gamemode they played is gonna be pretty dang high
the best time to stop excusing a convenient problem is yesterday
the second best time is today
with the game at a completely dead pre-content-patch low there's never been a better time to cut that gangreen out
Every point is pretty much spot on, making BoC a dark spell makes alot of sense, maybe even have to stack the dark magic damage perk to increase the damage to make it nuke harder. No stacks = it's not that great, full stacks = hard nuke you should avoid. Maybe a graphic to tell how many stacks a lock has ready.
I upvoted 👍
As much as I'd like to see what the game would look like, just cutting an entire portion of the playerbase out of the game and telling them to 'get used to it or get out' is going to have lasting consequences. The play was probably to never make goblin caves in the first place and instead try to balance around solos, duos, AND trios. Instead they decided to balance their game SOLELY around trios, and segregate solos to goblin caves, duos to ruins so they didn't have to think about anything else.
big agree that making goblin caves was the mistake, and the game was already being balanced around variable party sizes
if anything locking group sizes for different maps made the balance for solos/duos/trios WORSE because it narrowed their respective playing fields and worked AGAINST the existing balancing factors like the portal system
1000% true.
Either don't have GC, or balance it. Most people, especially new players are now playing Goblin Caves and complaining about balance.
New players will think that GC is the main game experience.
they already do think that
take one look at the subreddit and it's 90% GC clips and people complaining about GC balance
the game was never meant for it, and it's poisoning the well all the way down
Yeah, it's not possible to undo what they've already done.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they'll rip the bandaid off and flip the script on us, make it so ruins is a trio map again, and then rework the GC assets into a bigger, trio-friendly map. Then they'll make every map solo/duo/trio again and instead of just balancing for one team size they actually balance for everyone altogether.
But, I don't see the game surviving in it's current state if they did that. There's far too much negative PR and most people already have the impression that IM don't know what they're doing and many may look for an excuse to leave.
Yeah, makes sense.
They probably can't remove it now though, so many people are GC only now.
at this point the most reasonable play is probably what Onyx and a few others suggested, making it a time limited/event game mode
really you could make all the side maps that kind of map-cycle gimmick and it'd help the population a TON
If they DID make it so that every map was solo/duo/trio I'd probably like for some soft form of matchmaking to occur that prefers to match group sizes with each-other. Not to say that a trio can't end up in a lobby full of solos though, that it'd just be less likely. Then people would probably feel more inclined to queue even if they don't have 2 friends to queue with.
I think they just need to incentivize under-strength parties with something simple and tangible (like extra inventory space or something), narrowing team sizes into only mirror matches is part of the problem even if it's not 100% enforced
appreciate it homie
Also soul collector has a visual like you mentioned, glowing souls circle the warlock
Would be good counterplay, 6 souls around a warlock = more dangerous blow of corruption and vice versa
Oh I didn't know that, that's awesome
Yeah the perk is just so underused that nobody has really ever seen it
bring back item caps
Hey anyone know how I can change my Wizard tag by my name into something else? It's been almost a year since I set it, I forgot how to change it lol
I dont see how the developers think its ok for people to run such high gear that they are oneshotting spell casters n other classes in normal lobbies. There needs to be a gear cap again. What are you devs doing? Like do you guys play your game?
youre tripping hard off nutsacks homie
i do, my friends do, getting one shot as a wizard is a prob, but we run naked alot and its not even too bad a problem, as a mage you should go speed, really fast, and be able to get close and fireball or single chain or lightning strike (theres sm good options) and kill people at really fast speeds, you are a twig, and you treat others like twigs, thats how mages work. other classes if your getting 1 shot 1 shot, then your probably compltelely naked, and u probably didnt lose much
Could we add an "Are you Sure?" Check when going into dungeons, too many times have I accidently gone to crypts solo now
has there even been any talks for a universal trading chat for every item?
i stopped going HR because it was less fun and not one of my friends wanted to do it.
now after 3 months i have no one to play the game with ...
Feel you there, HR right now is taking 5 minutes to clear a room when the zone closes in at 3. Just constant PVE and whatever action you get typically lasts less than 30 seconds
you can get one shot by a fking axeman if he is black ,now i don't like blacks
why cant they add the blue limit again?
Not even the difficulty, just the time it takes is too long, also I don't associate with this man
A suggestion for the game Devs. Stop trying to balancing the stats of characters and stop adhering to all of the melee fighters. Every class has its strength and weaknesses Warlocks Wizards Unplayable. Ranger barely playable Fighter Clerics Barbs everywhere. You've nerfed everything else to the point of obsolete and you've not implemented the skill tree system yet. All the money, data, and resources going into trying to balance something that will need rebalanced when skill tree system is released makes no sense to me. Imo your resources as a company would be better spent implementing all systems for combat first. Then focus on balancing everything together for instance something a class lacks could be made up for instead of with a nerf which effects longevity of the game due to players play styles you can implement a way to improve the weaknesses in the skill tree. Just some food for thought.
adding a wow type arena would be so cool for the game
lizard should give +2 all, so every class could play with
Heres an idea sell the game to Nexon because you're destroying it by actually not testing the game yourselves and only listening to streamers 🐒
well, you see, it's almost like WE are the testers, that's what you signed up by buying a early development game
tbh goblin caves is not even a main gamemode of the game and balancing the game around goblin caves is a huge mistake
How do people actually think that ironmace is balancing around what streamers say, this is such non sense
BRO WHAT ALMAOOOOO
games a bit unbalanced, by tbh loot wise, its probably the most perfect its ever been, im really hoping they never touch it again, sellables feel like you can get a good amount, getting good loot feels rare but not TOO rare to a frustrating amount, im loving that aspect and i appreciate the conclusion theyve come to. however, may i suggest added a minimum 5 magical healing base stat to every piece of gear? maybe cap it at 10, thanks!!!!!!!!11!!!!
Barb dominates in goblin caves but currently he is just so trash in pvp against equally geared players in 3v3
in 1v1 it's easy to kill someone while you are playing on the barb but in 3v3 barb just gets melted and highly dependable on the positioning
Same goes for a bard as well bard cant be a lurker anymore
It's basically a support hero that gives buffs and that's it because if he tries to flank everybody just switches on him and he dies in 2-3 hits
Idk who is balancing the game but basically we back to the good old meta with ranger fighter and cleric
cleric is just necessary because it's the only class that can heal instantly or mid fight
Because ranger is a stable ranged dps and has high mobility that lets him quickly disengage + can use spear perk that makes him really strong in melee combat when he gets pushed on by a bard or any lurker class
Because fighter is just a class that basically has no downsides and get's a lot of advantages with his active skills and perks
Meanwhile barb and bard and wizard are just getting gutted like 5-6 patches in a row if im right
If barb and bard are still playable somehow in gc they are actually really bad in HR crypt especially barb
You can literally ask everybody that plays HR crypts and they are going to say the same, at least in EU
The game is not fun when the is no comp variety and a lot of HR players already dropped the game and waiting until mid November patch or at least for some more variety in the game
I don't care if people call me a troll but after solo game mode implementation the game is just going downhill with a recent patches because developers are trying to find the line in between solo mode and team mode
I prefered greens to be sellable with decent Rolls, now you cant, but its fine for acquiring gear yourself
The are actually not balancing the game around streamers but more around statistics but the stats are rigged af when you have like 95% of the population running in default or gray/white items and 5% in BIS or close to BIS gear
And developers be like oh no we have rogue main that kills nakeds or green geared players let's destroy rogue!
Currently barb has all of his items nerfed and running like 170hp and 30% pdr is just lame af when you can run fighter with 70% pdr 150hp and 100+ damage falchion
And when im looking at the montages mostly what i see is slightly better geared player is just shitting on the noobs, and the name of the video be like Barb dominating HR GC when like 80% of HR GC are just PVE enjoyers and don't know how to play against barb
HR GC be like a see barb i run
Gamez gonna fail and IM pockets 20m
Nah, game won't fail, it's got some strong roots. Even if things arent 100% it's got a very dedicated fanbase. Although, if the servers get worse, or much much worse. Maybe I'll start to agree
Server connection, and getting rid of hackers is probably most important for the games short term-longevity 🤔🧐
Here's my suggestion for Dwarf racial traits. Leave a vote if you like it! https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506506/dwarf-racial-trait-suggestion
PLEASE BRING BACK ITEM RARITY CAP IN NORMALS, IM BEGGING YOU!! 🥺😞❤️ I was playing in normals, 10 gold to my name, so i had nothing but starting gear... and boom a squad of three rolled through and one shot the whole lobby.. but the worst part is that they all had named weapons.. im begging you devs, bring it back for my sanity❤️😅💀 (i love this game)
I think that's too complicated for what the races are meant to be. like orcs are literally just -1 agility +1 strength, and lizards are just +20 armor, but no head piece
I think a great suggestion would be to rework the current maps dynamic. Althought most of the time we see Barbarians and Fighters or Duo Rangers in most scenarios, we can agree that information, positioning and previous experience/knowledge are the crucial to winning a round with the resources given to us, whether we are high or low geared. Also the fact that certain range dynamics are affecting classes such as the Rogues with the current daggers. It is quite hard for a Rogue to get a good opportunity being on default gear, and even if they are highly geared, they can still get combo'd by a non geared wizard or barbarian. Needless to say, Rogue's playstyle is different but nontheless this should be addressed properly. Also I think the Portals should be reworked. With the addition of the "stand-by" portals, althought good it is still quite lacking.. An Idea I've had that would increase gameplay and outplay potential and new contesting zones would be to highlight and add a lot of new extraction portal locations, which would the need an action to be used. Not only would this help both ungeared people just scavenging for loot but also high geared people who had a rough start and just want to get out asap. I think this would improve the rawness of the game when it comes to decision making, at least.
Reduce chances of finding throwing axes to 1/3 and decrease velocity
Voice emotes? Death screams?
damn this game broken rn
please gear cap normals
Enable bandages and potions while resting
Add 99 agility stat. Good luck gents!
"Only Allow High Gear Into Normals With Cap Penalty"
Plenty of cap upovte threads, but here's one.
Real suggestion: Lower the amount of bard loot on the loot tables.
i would love that
the black squeletons wtf
Double the scrap value of all Bard gear, let me make 25G off a 6-slot Bard pants and I'll accept the drops as secondary treasures.
Turn those 3 slot flutes into a 7-8 gold per slot treasure.
The Wizard Cobalt hat doesn't have magical power on it.
This but occultist gear. Can rarely find bard gear cuz i just find cultist stuff in every coffin/chest lol
Movement speed slow upon swinging weapons is ridiculously onerous and makes two handed weapons with already slow swings such as the battle axe and double axe too easy to avoid as a high movement speed character
This slow is the only reason for fighter slayer not being a death sentence.
Nerf PDR. Ambushed a fighter with weak point and hit him 5 times and he turned and smacked me twice and when I looked at his health he wasn’t even half health.
it's overtuned and makes slayer fighter a guaranteed win if played correctly
Whole story, what class were you and what weapon
Barbarian counters slayer, just dome them. If you cant hit your attacks then that's a different issue.
Well I was a rogue cause I had weak point and I hit him 5 times when he wasn’t turned to me with a blue rapier
And when I checked his health bro had a little over half health still. He had 73% PDR
any slayer who fumbles their distance and timing enough to get domed by a battle axe has simply misplayed - you've also ignored the fact that fighters use battle axes
So sick of Cape Crusader's toxically running down nakeds. Like the disparity in gear difference added with the toxic mindset of most gamers in this genre is killing new player interest. NEED to get the matchmaking gear restricted thing figured out yesterday. Not a single other thing in this game needs more attention than that imo.
I want to have a perk on Wizard like Invisibility Mastery that make the current invis not like complete garbage.
Should be something like 1 extra second and no afterimage on self cast
Disagree, abilities should be in a good place baseline and not fixed by perks. invis and haste in the current state is just bad and should be reverted
no self respecting fighter uses a battle axe, it should be deleted
did he use second wind? Do you know?
fix rogue. now.
you usually have to have a consequence when you make demands like this
what are you implying @merry kestrel
that if you're going to demand fixes now, you have to have a threat!
or im quiting dnd
HR/Normal Lobby Revamp Idea: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkAndDarker/s/k1w0wFL3wj
why should it be deleted, exactly? "just dome them. If you can't hit your attacks then that's a different issue." - oh what's that, it's too slow to land hits with when the opponent is paying attention? hmmm, maybe reducing the swing movement slow might help the situation? try critical thinking; "it should be deleted" is objectively dumber than my suggestion, which you are hypocritically arguing against for no good reason
SUGGESTION: MAKE PROJECTILE REDUCTION A USEFUL STAT. +.1% on a ranger doing 100 damage is a joke. buffed every other stat but must have love for rangers idk
replace it with feling axe, objectively better for pvp, similar damage. there's too many weapons making it too difficult to balance because they all have to be "different from each other"
https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/489597/arena-fights-and-gambling-odds-fire-content#comment569580 This is great! I was going to write this myself
So a way to buff wizard to make it feel a little better and maybe bring back ignite build would be giving it blunt weapon mastery thoughts?
I love this!
Upvote it on the suggestion site 😉
Give wizards rapiers or bust
already did!
swing slow in general is a dubious mechanic, as melee is all about players being able to manage their distance and timing, which swing slow unnecessarily hinders. I favor removing swing slow in theory, but it definitely needs tweaking if it remains - already slow weapons should not be penalized further with more swing slow, for example - it just results in those weapons being untenable to use against skilled players
My suggestion is similar to yours in a lot of ways
Different direction, but maintaining thematic elements is key
Let’s build the lore up alongside the game 🤘🤘🤘
This would nerf casters pretty heavily, just reduce the damage on bows
CLERIC IS STILL OVERPOWERED IN DUO AND TRIO. NERF THIS CLASS REALLY AND NOT SOME SLIGHTLY NERF/CHANGE. In duo its a total domination you cant make nothing vs good cleric paired with any other melee class like slayer fighter or barbarian. TRUE NERF FOR THE PATCH FFS . Devs are cleric or what ?????? too much heal , too much defense , too much damage, too much magical damage , too much support . its a bit too much right ????
I think a sclaing gear entry fee as show here is a good idea https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/507256/scaling-gear-entry-fee-for-normals-and-highroller
Mind upvoting my suggestion? > https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/507258/lower-magic-damage-needed-to-kill-high-roller-mobs
upvoted, high roller mobs are oppressively tough, making high roller not as fun, which is why so few players even play high roller
exactly.
Mobs are boring. Repetitive... they need to exist... but making enemies "harder" by increasing hp, armor, magic resist is a age old strategy that makes things bland
I've collected my thoughts about the swing slow mechanic, how it really serves no purpose and leads to our goofy 'jump before attack' meta into a suggestion to re-evaluate or remove swing slow entirely:
https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/507266/reevaluate-remove-swing-slow-mechanic
fully buffed cleric (bless, divine strike, Protection ANDDDDD Smite) can't kill a barb 1v1 that misses half his swings, even without blood exchange. basically forcing me to take Ale or use and land Holy Strike if I want to win.
That doesn't seem balanced and it really isn't fun. We both had a couple greens. He's using a 2h weapon and missed 2 of 5 strikes. I landed 5 of 5 hits before dying.
im dreaming of a world where rangers are balanced
can we please for the love of god just remove traps. its actually so imbalanced. i lose yet another 4k kit in HR to a dookie ranger bc i get hit run way into storm and hit a trap that was placed at the start of the game. why they are allowed to live in storm and live when rangers run away from them is unreal. it takes me on barb 8 seconds minium to open a trap which means i literally get hit fucking 5 times minimum while im frozen to the floor
and i cant fucking see them bc they are hiding them in bodies and loot.
i live for 30 plus runs not dying to people fafr more geared and actually having to fight only to lose my kit to a 14 gold trap thats not visable to even avoid it
Explosion bottles should be able to break doors
you're asking for wizard buffs and im not sure you realize it
bring back horseman axe as light as viking sword
This is something I both agree with and disagree with at the same time.
PDR/MDR curves absolutely need to be readdressed... however, I adamantly do not believe that Rogues should be able to 100-0 plate wearers unless there is a MASSIVE skill and gear difference. Rogues should be able to nuke squishy targets, sure. But if you also allow them the capability to murk plate wearers, what weakness do they have? Take away pen from Rogues (it's realistically useless anyway since the calculations for it are trash) and give them better base damage, but a lower headshot multiplier.
I always wondered why a literal explosive bottle couldn't break a door when a fucking crossbow bolt or arrow being fired from an AI makes them shatter into pieces.
10 regular dungeons I have been in today have been ran thru by purple players. Please make a system stopping this. any good progress i made is lost to people who arent even picking up my greens and blues cause 1)the markets messed up and nothing sells worth much 90% of the time if you do bring a blue out 2)they are already full purple
Exactly, would be a game changer for meta gaming
Historically one of the hardest classes to balance in games that predominantly revolve around melee combat and an ever-shrinking zone circle that forces you into it. Worse damage drop off that starts sooner and maybe even giving them a melee weapon penalty on Ranged Weapon Mastery so that they aren't as proficient as every other class.
I think forcing rangers to take the leg shot perk for slows would be a good step in the right direction. Atm, landing one shot anywhere just makes your next one even easier to land, and makes it harder to push the ranger even more so. Would create a bigger trade off in shooting legs as opposed for going for the head for damage
Literally nobody would take it. Losing the damage on headshots is too much of a dps drop to matter, and who needs to slow a target when it's just dead anyway? The only scenario where it would even be halfway useful would be against a Heater/Buckler Cleric or Fighter who is attempting to block their head while crouching. Otherwise taking the loss in dps is never going to be worth making the target slower when you can already hit the first shot with said target at a higher speed anyway.
Well, I guess I'm taking a mindset from the top tier of players in that aspect. Who knows, maybe people who aren't as confident in hitting their headshots might take it.
IMO Rangers should be able to do good damage at range, its their thing obviously. I mostly take issue with the crowd control they have as a side effect of how bow shots work while also doing good damage. If you compare a ranger with their bow to a wizard with slow or ice bolt or other slowing effects, it just feels a little overtuned, at least in my opinion.
i do think rangers being able to slow is one of the biggest problems. then the damage out put capability from distance is next on the list. but if they took the slowing effect out of it, it owuld be harder to land shots, thus making it harder to do said dmg output.
I think a week long hotfix without slow on bows by default would be good to test the waters. Seeing how other classes have had similar changes I see no reason why Ranger can't be put in the spotlight for a week
How rangers/bow users react to the changes would give some better insight on ranger balance as a whole imo (similar to how warlock has been performing this patch, lots of forced experimentation and now we can really see how reliant the class is on one perk)
you really don't want ranged gameplay to boil down to just damage racing
the slowdown on ranged weapons is and always has been a good thing
how is it not already damage racing
remove slayer perks
Make the rangers bow shots slow for less time, and let leg shot perk increase duration by 2x.
because a significant amount of ranged weapons' power budget is vested in them having functional slowdown, it's what they've been balanced around from the very beginning and why Ranger functioned as a ranged area denial class
take that away and you've either got completely dead playstyles or you're giving them the damage and mobility that's been absent from the weapons since the start
Slayer should go to 3 weapon dmg like axe specialization, or be a phys power bonus
lantern is not a weapon should remove slayer proc, also bard should get a big ole dumptruck in the next wipe, for balance reasons...
A recurve bow is a faster swinging falchion or a more damaging arming sword. With an effective range of 'as far as you can see'... What exactly are they trading off in this 'power budget' for the slowdown?
I was unaware that you had to reload the arrows on a Falchion or an Arming Sword. I won't get into the rest of the argument on the mechanical differences between swinging a sword and drawing a bow back, loosing an arrow, then pulling another arrow out to repeat process, but know that this is ridiculous for you to have said.
Not here to argue with you in any cause I think forcing rangers to take the legshot perk is a bad idea... but I will say at the top level there is a not 'meta' but still really good strategy of having just 2 bows. One regular recurve/longbow for damage, and a survival bow with the legshot perk for kiting. It works pretty well and is only really countered by the usual suspects (PDR fighter and Barb)
Even without taking the leg slow perk, that strategy is extremely effective. I run Survival Bow and Longbow when I don't have an insane Spear to be taking when I play Ranger and I don't ever take the perk... still kite just fine.
Legshot takes it to a whole nother level, cause you can alternate between legshotting and near guaranteed headshots on someone who is slowed by 40%
I'm not saying the OG strategy isn't good too, but the legshot is definitely taken by a lot of people right now (Though a 'lot' is subjective considering the low number of ranger players in general right now)
I'd rather take body shots for increased damage. It's unnecessary to force the loss in damage output for a slow that isn't really needed if you know how to kite properly.
sorry if I simplified too much for you, but to be more technically accurate; for 8 attacks a recurve bow is a sword with long range (and a higher movement speed penalty)
This is still absurdly wrong. If you are ONLY looking at the damage number, then sure.
You still can take the max damage output if you aren't running spear. You don't need to have a fast clear w/ spear if you have someone else on your team that does it well enough.
I mean bows being really strong 'feels' right, they are better weapons than swords if you're talking about realism. That advantage just feels a little too easy in the context of this video game, and maybe they could not slow people on hit as a minor adjustment?
If they don't slow people on hit you are basically killing ranger as a class.
'as a minor adjustment, remove the cornerstone trait of this entire weapon type'
Oh I know, I just prefer what I prefer.
I wouldve said the corner stone trait of ranged weapons was two tapping squishies from across the room
they have traps, and melee weapons? And they got 2-4 arrows into the other guy in under a second before the rest of the fight?
I like how class icons immediately tell you how skewed someone's perspective is about class/weapon balance
I love people who come to the suggestions channel with only ideal scenarios for their arguments. Never gets old.
guess ill just grab all of them and be unbiased in that case
Ranger melee weapons are awful, even the spear is outclassed when someone gets in your face because of it's terrible sour spots.
Traps are great, but unreliable when you're playing against people that know what they're doing.
Their bow + slowdown on hit is really all they have. It's strong, don't get me wrong but even minor changes to their singular strength can kill the class that was literally dead in the ground last patch and only revived this patch because of the buffs they got.
plays Wizard
gets got by a Ranger
COMPLAIN
Let's play rock paper scissors.
I will pick rock, what? You picked paper and beat me? Alright guys, I think we gotta nerf paper.
typical rock shill
we all know paper is bad in HR, anyone who claims it's OP only plays GC
so for context I played bard (past tense, I'm not playing the rest of this wipe, for bard related reasons). When you say the class was 'dead'... How dead are we talking here. I remember selling a lot of ranger gear that patch.
Jfc 🤣🤣🤣 @abstract swallow @small furnace
sorry for the icon confusion but you guys have got to read wizard chat, it's great
bro cant even ask a question
Last patch (The removal of damage affixes without any compensation) made the class near unplayable at every level. Ranger only has their damage and slowdown, they have no other tools in their kit.
Their damage was removed that patch and they were given zero compensation.
THIS PATCH: They buffed longbow damage and added damage rarity scaling back. This was enough to push ranger back into being a strong class, however it's still currently one of the least played classes. That might be due to the upcoming wipe or because people haven't wanted to try it since the removal of damage affixes.
it doesn't help that Ranger was nerfed over a dozen times in a row before the deathblow patch, despite being one of the worst performing HR classes
They were OK on the richman patch as part of an antiball comp. Meta, but only meta because they could counter buffball.
The fact that people don't understand this and just blindly come here to complain is mind-boggling to me.
Even onepeg is saying rangers need a nerf, it's kind of annoying to me that this kind of sentiment is so widespread among people. Like people can't see out of the perspective of the 1-2 classes they play in the way they play the game.
you know, you've all convinced me. Rangers are fine, and moreover, have been nerfed much too harshly in the past. We must give them back the tools they need to survive, and if possible rein in bards some more.
correct
bard needs to be tortured and nerfed until bard players relinquish tech
Ok, you're just being disingenuous now. I understand Badger and Onyx have been sassing you but I've been nothing but patient and civil.
Rangers don't need a buff, but they also don't need nerfs right now. They're kind of fine where they are, they might be too strong after we see Fighters and Barbs get some more nerfs, we'll have to see what the landscape looks like.
I just legitimately and vehemently HATE that streamers do this. They need to stop openly giving their opinions in their videos, because then the clueless public that worships them will take that word as gospel and that escalates into what we see in this Discord and eventually devs will act on it because now hundreds of uneducated and bad players are parroting what their favorite streamer said.
what?! My conversion to the cause is sincere, Rangers are well known to have suffered much at the hands of Ironmace's capricious balance changes. Who has not played a ranger, and wept for what they have lost?
honestly even if they don't mention it or go out of their way to caution against parroting them like Spud used to, people will still use them as a mouthpiece/scapegoat for whatever they're currently mad about
Onepeg has usually been pretty tempered in his opinions, which makes him seen as more of a 'reasonable' personality. It's for that reason that I dislike he keeps saying rangers need more nerfs and they didn't deserve the buffs they get.
Cause of his previous behavior he's perceived as more 'reasonable' so even people that normally don't listen to streamers will listen to him, esp since he's the 'dark and darker news guy' to a lot of people.
add back the rare cap to norm dungeons
He's said a lot of unreasonable things on X that don't necessarily pertain to the game, but that's here nor there. He and I have had our fair share of conversations. I don't care who you are, when you have that much influence, you need to keep your opinions on wrap.
Yeah, that's true. And people will also take things out of context at any chance they get to support their narrative, too.
Kind of yeah, I also half relate with him as I've been in the position of 'perceived important person that a lot of people will parrot' and I don't envy anyone who has to deal with it. Cause it does genuinely feel like you can't really have your opinions without someone using them in one way or another whether that's negative or positive.
I do understand what you're saying though, I guess I was just never able to successfully deal with it myself which is why I can relate with his side.
Increase the range of Shriek of Weakness. STOP RUINING BARD, At least let it be usefull.
With that range, you cant use it on fight properly
shriek of weakness range nerf was possibly the worst way they couldve nerfed it
One of the major downcomings of content creation and the development of social media is this exact scenario. Back when AOL and UO were basically "it", this wasn't nearly as big of a problem. I was that guy for EQ2 Warden and Ranger, all over the forums and most people knew me... even the bluebie server players. You really just gotta be as objective as possible and look at the numbers. Opinions are fine, but don't speak those into potential existence for the rest of the playerbase. That's typically what ruins games.
It's just internet culture as a whole honestly, not even content creation.
I ran a large-sized discord gaming community for about 4 years and it drained the soul from me. Couldn't do anything without every person under the sun speculating about my true motives, me as a person. Whether they were defending me or attacking me it just kinda felt like I couldn't have an opinion on the merits of the opinion itself, and it always became a larger issue relating to my position and used as a source of authority.
In the end I couldn't keep taking that among with several other stressers in my life at the time so I just handed it over.
I'm convinced that's just the way people on the internet are.
More on-topic, bard needs a rework. The fact that he is so impossible to balance that they've nerfed him into oblivion and he still gets played regularly at the top level should show that you can't just nerf the character into proper standing. It's also ruining the character for anyone that isn't playing at that level.
I've been saying this since the class was released, lol.
Yeah and they got a 'rework' that wasn't really a rework even though they called it a 'rework' it's time for another 'rework' I guess but this time make it a rework and not a 'rework'.
Rework
I'll be honest, after having given 3 separate potential fixes for the class, I've stopped caring.
The 'rework' was just a gigantic nerf disguised as a rework. Stop nerfing bard and just entirely scrap the class and start over.
I need to start charging IM a consultation fee for balancing at this point.
Maybe you can convince some of the people in trade chat that are openly trading for "RM" to pay you.
🤣
Like, it's not hard to fix one of the major problems with the class, which is legitimately that it can function as too many roles at once. Add proficiency levels to types of equipment instead of just "can equip" and "can not equip". Perks that give proficiency to classes to equip certain weapons are fine, but unless you're giving them a "Mastery" of that weapon type, there should be a negative damage multiplier applied to the output of the damage that class deals with the weapon. So if, naturally, a Bard were able to "use" a Crossbow, but wasn't "proficient" in it, they'd have a 0.7 multiplier attached to their damage with Crossbows. Proficiency in a weapon allows a 0.85 multiplier for those weapons, and Mastery is 1.0. So, for Fighters, the weapons they gain access to via weapon mastery (more appropriately, "proficiency") would fall under "proficient", and would get the 0.85 multiplier. Rangers would be "proficient" in all melee weapons, "master" for all ranged weapons, and with the perk, attains "proficiency" in Spear, if that's what they'd like them to be at. This would immediately fix Bard's versatility problem, leaving just how their buffing works to hash out, which can be solved by adding diminishing returns and adjusting how they play their songs and when buffs apply to the team both during playing and for a short duration after the song finishes, as well as adding an aoe surrounding the Bard that their team would have to be in in order for them to get said buffs.
hey guys, is there unoptimization on capes? my frame tanks when Im in a group with all 3
Buff rogue hide by like 10 seconds
Oh hey this old post about it mentions this issue https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/473951/cloaks-affecting-performance
Crossbows should be heavily nerfed or removed from the game. Fighters def shouldn't have access to them in their current state.
I think they should apply gear movement penalty even if not equipped
I'll get an official suggestion written up for the forum that you can upvote when I'm done... I'll be proposing the proficiency concept I suggested just above that will impact all classes and their damage potential with each respective weapon. Will be a solid balance adjustment for the current state of the game.
I will upvote if bard can get a longsword perk haha
Bards aren't traditionally 2h-capable. It's pretty odd that IM has them able to use Crossbows, ngl.
Bards can use light crossbows in DnD, so I bet that would be the reasoning since it tracks with Wizard being able to use it as well
Traditionally can't rogues use crossbows... like... normal crossbows? Looked it up and apparently not, guess it's just me that always takes crossbow proficiency when I play rogue in dnd.
Yeah I was gunna say I'm pretty sure not without the mastery perk.
I always get proficiency with my backstory, always seemed 'normal' to me as a result.
Basic outline for 3-tier weapon proficiency concept.
I like the idea overall, but I also like the idea of getting a worthwhile bonus over regular users of the weapon for equipping a perk that grants you the ability to use a weapon proficiently.
Spear proficiency and hand crossbow mastery are good examples of what I mean there.
(+10 phys power for spears and +2 wep damage for hand crossbows)
I don't think anyone is saying either of these perks are OP.
Talent trees could also shift certain classes with use of the proficiency system - a Rogue could become a duelist by taking a certain talent tree path that gains them mastery in Short Sword or Rapier, for instance, when they're traditionally only mastered with daggers.
Idk what balance will look like with talent trees, I can't really begin to even think about what that would look like. I just know your current suggestion is GOOD, I like the idea of allowing classes to use more weapons but with damage penalties. I just don't like the idea of nerfing the existing 'enabler' perks. Like ranger spear proficiency and rogue hand crossbow proficiency. Which your idea would as it's written.
I don't think it would be a problem to keep them as they are (meaning they'd keep their +10PP/+2AWD and mastery level respectively). That's just a basic outline, I haven't exactly done any hard calculations just yet to see where literally everything would land with this, but it's mainly aimed at bringing Fighter and Bard ranged combat potential down a notch and Ranger melee combat potential down a notch, since I do believe that those are probably the 3 most complained about things currently that are reasonable complaints.
You bring those 3 things down a notch while not hurting other classes in the process with the addition of the weapon proficiency concept, while also allowing potential talent tree adjustments to create sub-classes.
Yeah, that's fair. It's still kind of a nerf for those existing ones though if they only get to go up to 'proficient' from a perk dedicated to them.
I think if you have to take a whole perk just for one weapon category it should certainly be impactful. I'd say 'master' is definitely reasonable for that.
Though then again I'm also against making rangers only 'proficient' in their other melee weapons cause their melee damage is also doodoo hahaha, but I'd be more okay with it if they were given more ranged benefits to compensate ofc.
Suggestion Remove Crossbow from all classes besides ranger.. Fighters can still use crossbow if they use specialization. Also Increase reload time for crossbow... way to fast. Up Draw speed for longbow or lower dmg. Fighters using other class items better then the class themselves is kinda wierd. UP the cooldown on sprint or lower duration of sprint. Barb should be a bit slower but have natural projectile reduction. Fighters should have same thing. Full plate armor guy should not be catching up to a dude with a robe lol... sounds dumb . Should be trade offs for armor/mr for MS. If you want to be more tanky then you should get the trade offs. Suggestions not factual . Just my opinion
It's really all gonna depend on what talent trees look like. In a worst case scenario they don't add much to the game and instead just take away existing feature and lock them behind levels, which would suck.
Best case scenario is they give more opportunity to build your character with profound strengths and weaknesses.
I imagine that's what the aim is - give a massive emphasis somewhere for your class while having an equally negative in magnitude effect somewhere else.
I do hope that is the case, but knowing IM and how they've handled some perks in the past I worry it'll be something like... they remove damage from a weapon and lock it behind a talent, or they remove some feature of a weapon and lock it behind a talent.
If they give you some option on how to build your class in a way that lets you map out strengths and weaknesses, or even try to buck class trends in general (Full melee trap ranger, anyone?) then I'll be fully onboard.
Like I can imagine Rogues getting an actual "Frontload Assassin" type poison build where if you spec into it via the talent tree it just increases the fuck out of your scaling on poison damage and each swing adds 2 stacks of poison or something while cutting your physical damage in half.
Oh you mean like 'run n gun' rogue exists right now but to a better extent. Yeah that's kind of funny.
They run up to you, stab you a couple of times, run away, re-proc the poison with a hand crossbow and just watch you bleed out.
It would straight up be a fun way to play rogue if it wasn't inferior to phys damage rogue in every way
Yeah, pretty much. Or for the Warlock you could realistically turn the class into an actual spellblade class where you have to use a Crystal Sword, but when you cast like CoP or something it changes how the spells work. Instead of it being a hitscan projectile, it becomes an on-hit effect for a specific duration.
But that's like, hella in the future and would require an actual balancing team for them to realistically implement.
I'd love to watch someone walk into one of my traps and to slowly walk up to them with a Spear while taunting them over VOIP, lol. That would be hilarious.
I could definitely see some funny perks being viable for a trap-based ranger: "You deal more damage to people with movespeed inhibitions" "You deploy traps faster" "Your traps hurt more" etc
Giving traps a skillcheck again and giving them more melee damage, specifically, would be an insane talent tree addition. I'd run it.
Like, when attacking a target you currently have trapped you deal 50% more damage, or something.
Were you aware traps can headshot btw? I saw a naked fighter run into two traps that were hung up by an arrow of some rangers we killed and he got instakilled from full health. Funniest shit I ever seen.
Yeah lol I did know that. You just don't move your cursor and shoot a million arrows to the middle of a room then place traps and wait in the dark lol
I knew you could do it, I just didn't realize they had an actual headshot modifier until yesterday. It doesn't show up in the killfeed as having one after all
Yeah, there's a bit they gotta work on in terms of UI as well, that's one of em.
Yep, I really wish it would show WHO's trap killed someone. Instead of just the basic gmod style of env_hunting_trap killed player1
Fists too, like cmon show me that someone just got fisted to death in the feed.
Ima send you a clip real quick and let me tell you how fucking sad I was that I didn't see "Fisted" in front of the kill lol
Go for it
@short heath god damn that was like the most opportunistic thing I ever seen.
Two sinking ships pass eachother in the night and one of them just plows into the other for no reason
I was laughing so fucking hard lol
THIS GAME is literally 2 steps forward 1 step back 3 steps forward 1 step back 1 step forward 1 step back over and over from the fucking lag!
ok so?
I agree. What would you suggestion be though
let cleric use pavise
i used to love solo play in the dungeon but with ball meta i just cant anymore, it feels like if your not a 3man with a bard, cleric, or mage, you might as well drop youre gear in pre lobby i dont want to stop cause i love the game but i think i should take a break until they put in some buff cap cause this is just ridiculous. watching them fight each other is comedy too. nothing like being a rat and picking up all the scraps once they pass through, but whats the point if you either hide or die cause you arent in a ball. i dont really know if im just weak or if its just too much at this point maybe its an occam's razor and yes i should hide from the geared fighter with 7 buffs and a shield on his shield but when every interaction is this i want to uninstall. any ideas what i should be doing as a solo player? the castle and goblin caves are nice but the dungeon is what made me fall in love with this game to begin with
You living in the previous patch. Buff ball is much less prevalent, much less broken, and has much much more counter-play now
please nerf fucking mummy spider agro range
Just kill the spider mummy
"just kill the spider mummy while a fighter is shooting and chasing me with xbows x d"
as if it didnt just agro from the bottom floor on the top mid right tile in HR after i already walked past the hole and got into a fight it walked up the ramp for no reason and then agroed to me blocking me in the door almost killing me and then followed me for 10 years while im being shot rofl
Just kill the spider mummy
just kill the spider mummy
Here's my suggestion for Dwarf racial traits. Leave a vote if you like it! https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506506/dwarf-racial-trait-suggestion
A smaller map for only 2 total players would be cool. PVE monsters still included.
Solo entry.
duo que for gc
Explosion bottles should be able to break doors
Crossbows need a nerf. Trade system needs to be Auction house or removed. Ruins map needs to go back to 3s and have a way to hell.
-
Why is there no queue system to join up with random players?
-
Why is there no system to modify stats on gear or upgrade gear quality?
-
Why is the party system still going off of character names? WE NEED ACCOUNT NAMES
These are the types of things that should be getting added, quality of life updates, not endless balance patches.
I don't wanna have to spend 55 dollars for an emote.
Thats not all you get but Ik what you mean, would be cool seperate but it prob will be maybe, I bet it will be up for 4-6 blue shards too
NGL this is not looking good for dnd. why come out with a fire unqiue mug on the first drop, then release a cup with a logo pressed on? MONEY- THE MARGINS ARE PROBABLY HIGHER SELLING A GENERIC LABELED CUP VS A TEXTURED MUG. & to top it off, its $5 MORE
1,) have you played tarkov?
2,) dunno
3.) dunno
Remove solos make every map 3s, reinvent/ expand goblin caves
I can agree with that for a term, it sounds good
Gear modification has absolutely no place in a game like this, since its a hc pvp game rando queue probably wont exist seeing as theres no way to punish ppl who rando queue and tk for free gear, and yea ur right ab party system
I suggest you stop trying to make everyone happy and just go back to your roots.
Gear modification would be cool, especially considering the crazy prices people ask sometimes, and the CONSTANT balance changes. It would make getting a "set" much quicker, and of course would require balancing in terms of cost to modify/upgrade.
And for random queue, they already have systems to fix exactly what you are talking about. Downvote them, and if they are consistently hated by randoms, you start giving them randoms who are also hated.
Hell rockstar does that with cheaters, if you get reported too much, suddenly you are in a lobby with everyone else who gets reported.
Yes and once you get downvoted you have 0 way to get upvoted because if you get red name you cant use your upvotes
Then they would need to fix that 😂
Its not a need to be fixed its meant to be that way
Before people keep replying with nonsense. Gamers have NO CLUE what they want.
All the most profitable and popular games follow a simple formula, content and quality of life changes come before balancing. BEFORE.
All these balance changes are killing the player base, too many changes, too frequently. I can name at least 5 good games from smaller studios that did the EXACT same things with too many balance changes and killed their game.
They need to add useful features and good content. Balance changes should come once a month at the earliest.
No one actually cares about what the META is. When things were "less balanced" they had like 30-40k players at peak times. Now a month later and like 4 huge patches, less than half that player count at times.
People will always complain about the balance, but the QoL and Content updates keep players engaged.
Just give me a base gear lobby so I can get out on a new character without getting steamrolled by the bard with all purples
There should be an option for low queuing, only grey white and green gear allowed in
Call it Low Roller
please please please
Damn, crazy how adrenaline rush got to be a good ability for a whole week before they decided to nerf it back into being an obscurity.
Also good lord improved matchmaking Can the devs make up their mind on what they want to do? I thought we put this issue to bed already.
so we should pour cofee on our fallen enemies..
Naw lean into the extraction aspect, everyone in the same lobbies. The more they segregate the community the worse the game gets
Remove solos entirely make goblin a 3 man map with a low loot pool (max greens) as the low level spot and make ruins the first floor of crypt again.
kekw.
Also, F in the chat for Adrenaline Rush for sure. That sucks. EQ got hard nerfed and Locust Swarm got rebalanced, but Holy Strike stays untouched, lul. I'm convinced they don't play their own game.
have a stat (weapon damage) that can be stacked and make the class too strong
Completely gut rogue so the stat is needed to do any damage
Remove the stat
Leave the class ruined as is
Literally don't do anything about it in the upcoming balance patches
Oh, but they did. They gave you 10% more armor pen on an ability. KEKW
This is wrong for a game in testing/development. The major problem with Dark and Darker is that it was prematurely released into Early Access when it is realistically in alpha, and as such they don't have a baseline QoL, UI, or even full set of content to even go off of. Combined with the fact that nobody seems to realize that this is, in fact, an EA game, has the community in shambles about multiple things. You all paid to be testers for Ironmace, and unless you have that mindset as you play the game, you won't enjoy your experience. If you won't ever have that mindset, then you duped yourself.
Matchmaking aside.
I'm very disappointed they target nerfed slayer fighter after they were allowed to be a half viable alternative to PDR fighter for a whole damn week.
They only did it because of people whining on the discord and we all know it.
have a stat (weapon damage) that can be stacked and make the class too strong
Completely gut rogue so the stat is needed to do any damage
Remove the stat
Leave the class ruined as is
Literally don't do anything about it in the upcoming balance patches
I got ratioed because I said games end up dying except not in exactly those words, lul.
Anyway, yes. That is why almost all changes are made and the community/devs end up ruining games because of it. Very few people known enough about game balance to know what is actually healthy for each game they might play.
They should work on removing all of the cheese spots, would incentivize playing the game as intended (blocking / dodging enemy swings etc). Im also guilty of hopping on top of a health shrine to take out the champion or whatever but its really boring and i bet half of the players would get a reality check if they couldnt just sit on a ledge and wipe a whole room in hell.
rangers exist GL getting rid of every chessse spot
Wut? DaD mobile trailer
https://youtu.be/OnMqJUec9fs?feature=shared
yeah but they would still likely need to kite mobs, which is kind of their whole schtick. Im suggesting to remove the ledges and stuff the mobs cant reach you on. like theres a specific ledge in a room in hell nothing can reach you on and you can clear the entire room, that shoudn't be the case. people should be incentivised to learn the enemy attack patterns etc instead of just oh i can jump on this and whack em in the head risk free
bro a ranger can sheese hell with 1 chest
then work around that cheese too
you going to recode the entire game?
whatever dude, this is a suggestion discussion, i offered a suggestion no need to be a fanny about it
just reminding you why its a bad suggestion they probably already thought of and how hard it would be to impliment that change
no you didnt remind me its a bad suggestion, you in fact agreed with one of your statements that cheese is an issue...
anyway have a good one
block berserkers in doorways with shields, get in centaurs face and crouch while strafing in the opposite direction he swings, everything else is ez to kill just rotate in circles around dogs and bats, bait skelly swings and counter, no need to cheese anything in hell, and honestly most ppl cheesing clear slow anyways and get mowed down by the team clearing faster LOL
Buff rogue hide by 10 seconds give their poison a healing reduction, max PDR to 50%. Buff bards a little.
sure bud
Much needed ranger buff, thank you. Now I can ignore other classes totally and just play ranger and wreck every causal in the vicinity.
buffing ranger was a terrible idea, might as well only play ranger if your solo lmao
the only upside is that ranger cannot chase so freely like cleric or fighter so you can somewhat avoid him if you know where he is and what is he up to
its really not that serious at all
ALL IM SAYING IS BARDS SHOULD GET A PERK TO LET THEM HEAL ON THE GO
Just watched some Greed is good and now I am very curious why we don´t have quality of life things like a minimap(like why tf do I have to check on a fking website which map I am currently on and where points of interest such like revive shrines and heal shrines are, colored items in inventorys and item prices on Items and sellables when you hover over them with the mouse? Does anybody know if they plan to this quality of life features to DnD why a goofy game like greed is good can have that and we do not. 🫣
for the map and poi, they left that out for immersion, for QOL they want quality control, they want to make sure they game is functioning and balanced thoroughly before they start releasing new content, hard to enjoy new content for longer then a week when the game is not immersive and completely unbalanced, greed is good is BAD in terms of balancing
I like the no minimap and obscure item prices, makes the game harder and more realistic, imo
rangers shouldnt be allowed to use crossbows and spears
Rangers slow shouldnt have been buffed. Fighters attack speed buffs were fine. Bards song of silence is too short to be used. Haste shouldn't have been rebuffed, I get it's a response to the Fighter nerf but it just rebuffs Barbarian.
That's the problem though. Why are they focused on balancing soooo much on an early access? No one will ever be fully happy with the balance of a game. QoL, UI, content, and functionality should be 90% of what they are focused on.
Functional > Balanced
People play unbalanced games everyday
No, the problem is that you have a fully fleshed out game mindset and this isn't fully fleshed out. A fully fleshed out game would have many of those things already laid out and instead of making full send changes for this or that, they (should be anyway) would be fine tuning.
I think they have a good foundation at this point as far as QoL, UI, and functionality. Content is minor, but you can see that they're working on it and they have enough to keep people engaged currently. When a game is as unbalanced as Dark and Darker was, you'll drive away more than you'll keep, so they had to be fluid and change their tactics. Now that things are more well balanced, they can shift focus back to finishing their original game design and work on more in-depth content.
Incorrect. The balancing and tuning is driving people away. They had 30-40k people playing when it wasn't balanced. They do several massive changes back to back and now they barely break 20k players at peak.
QoL and functionality are more important.
The average gamer has no clue what changes need to be made to a game.
So no, they do not "have enough to keep people engaged currently"
Like I said, I can name 5 games right off the top of my head made by smaller studios, and focused way too much on balancing, and not on fucntionality/content. And those games died.
40-50k players, hype on twitch and youtube, then the devs kill these games. This vision of a well balanced game is flawed. People will ALWAYS complain about balance and balance changes. But QoL, content, and functionality usually yield ACTUAL benefit and ACTUAL player retention.
They had that many players when the game wasn't balanced because the game had just released for EA and people were excited for it. Then they started playing it and realized how absurdly unbalanced it was, and started to complain in literally every place possible about the things that were the most egregiously out of whack. When the devs saw how bad it was in the eyes of their community, after originally having your stance on the matter of balancing their game, they literally restructured how they were developing the game to focus more on balancing, because that was the chief complaint about their game.
Player count dropped over 7k on it's peak concurrent THE DAY AFTER they removed the gear cap on no-ante dungeons, and hasn't risen since. The rest of their attrition has been a natural amount that is expected to happen throughout a 6 month period following the release of any game. If that isn't indicative to what the playerbase wants and how GOOD GBMM was for the game, I don't know what is.
I am telling you, I have seen other games DO THE SAME THING AND THEY DIE. I am not just making things up.
EVERY community for EVERY game has people whining about balancing. That is the nature of gaming communities. There is ALWAYS a meta, people always complain about it, you change it and their will be a new meta and new things to complain about.
Sometimes to make a community happy, you have to give them WHAT THEY NEED, not WHAT THEY WANT. Cause the average gamer is stupid.
I'm not making things up, either, but the vast majority of the evidence goes against what you're claiming is the normal case. Especially for a game design like Dark and Darker's, where your progress can be literally 100-0 halted and new players will be at such a massive disadvantage due to balance issues and gear disparity that it no longer is worth their time to even try to get past the roadblock that is the first 20+ hours of their play time, and if they aren't no-lifing the game, every wipe they'll be at that same disadvantage within a day. I've been doing this for 32 years (lol, @small furnace here we go again). There is a balance to development and even balancing itself where you have to weigh community reaction vs goals and honestly IM did the right thing by shifting their focus when the outcry was as bad as it was. Generally speaking, I agree with you... Most gamers think they know what they want and what is best for any game they play, but that's based on their biases. Not objectivity. The game was legitimately so poorly balanced that it was outweighing any form of positive influence that generating more/new content would have put onto the game... because 98% of players wouldn't have been able to reach/play that new content anyway because of the roadblock that being a new player or casual was. Now that they've toned that down more and made the game playable by most audiences, they can shift focus back and work on content/their original game design.
So you don't think the lack of a queue system, the constant changes to classes making people quit, people not wanting to play solo or go to the gathering hall. None of those things impacted the player count?
What I am talking about is evidence from OTHER GAMES that either did similar stuff and failed, or games that followed the simple formula of how to update a game, and made millions off of it. And evidence DIRECTLY FROM THEIR GAME.
Everytime they update during peak hours, everytime they make huge balance changes and nerfs (half of which don't actually make sense).
They lose players. If you are losing players every step you take, AND other games failed doing the same thing.
Maybe their is something you're missing.
No, that's not what I said at all. I said that you have to weigh these things against one another to fix the bigger problems first.
Is balancing a big problem when you have 40k people on your game? What about when you do several balance updates and lose 1/3 of your players, is it still a problem? What about when you keep doing it and keep losing players?
I would actually say yes, it is a problem. But not the balance, the updates themselves are.
When over 60% of those players fall into the group that actively complained about balance being a problem, yes. Absolutely. It's a big problem, especially for PLAYER RETENTION. You cannot keep new players when they all want a refund within 4 hours of playing the game because out of the dozens of matches they got to play in that span of time, they extracted MAYBE twice due to the MASSIVE balance issues your game has.
You can believe what you want. When this game dies because of the endless rapid balance updates that don't actually balance the game.
You will blame the game balance. I will blame the over focus on a perfectly balanced game giving players whiplash and driving them away.
This is delusion to a T. "Perfectly balanced game", lmao. Alright bud, we're done here.
The only thing I was disappointed in balance wise was barbs, warlocks, rangers, and not having gear ranking for lobbies. They fixed some of those things and the gear ranking they did wrong. Instead of locking ruins to NO PURPLE gear. They just need 2 separate queues for every dungeon. If you have purple gear or above you play with those people, if not then you play in the lower ranked lobbies.
Why did they need the other 90 changes? Why did they make shrines completely useless? Too many changes, and most of them were not needed. It's too much for the average player to keep up with.
Anyway, on to things that are more in line with this channel... Upvote this.
I wish they'd revert gob caves so normals was 1 map
I seriously despise HR gob tiles in normals
Ranger is the worst class and needs to stop getting buffs change my mind
I don't think anyone disagrees except the devs... genuinely ranger, rogue, warlock 3 least fun classes to play against
@sdf @Graysun yo this red name and karma system has to change...I have a red name because people downvote me for god knows why. Usually I carry the teams and am very firendly. Now, I get teamkilled at will because of the red name and there is no way for me to report them because red names aren't allowed to report. This is a bullshit system and i'm sure many have left the game because of it. I am contemplating leaving just because of this.
get friends
yeah cleric didn't need a nerf, nothing you said made sense, they want you using heals outside of combat? what are you even talking about? and apparently my takes are bad lol
Clever. friends dont always play when I play. Nice GeT gOoD response
not a get good response but genuinely the fact that so many people have reported you kinda makes me think you're doing something wrong
And even if that were the case. .That makes it ok to be teamkilled incessantly right at spawn with no way to report the teamkillers?
Video reports are a thing... send it to the mods in discord, I've gotten plenty banned for teaming or teamkilling
you are coming up with an outside solution to an in game problem. If this game ever takes off, would it be easier for devs to comb through every video as judge and jury, or simply revamp a broken karma system
or would it be even easier to play gob caves or have 1-2 friends... I mean genuinely just message peeps on the discord that's how I got a group
All those are valid points. So, you think the karma system works fine? A red name should not be allowed to use the karma system in any capacity?
Allow us to buy stash expansions with red and blue shards.
Yea pretty much... Light red I think votes should be 1/2 power, past that 0% power. Genuinely that's kinda the point of the system, that those who have committed offenses real or perceived are tagged with a mark letting others know, and that they can't manipualte the rest of people... you're basically a felon in this game if you teamkill and troll so yea you shouldn't have a vote.
I've never teamkilled or trolled so there goes that theory
i think people in gathering hall are more likely to use the downvote feature when angry, than they are using the upvote feature for you specifically when happy (50% chance per 5 extracts in a trio). So basically if you are a mediocre player you’ll probably end up red name if you play gathering hall legit and dont tk etc xD
After some time. I thnk the Fighter change is fine because of the Haste buff and the Haste buff is fine but Barbarian needs to be tuned in response.
Bumping this again: HR/Normal lobby revamp! Got some lore baked in as well.
Opinion on limits to throwing knifes/axes. Bc when i play barb i never feel the lack of range as i always have a vast amount of throwing axes, same with rouge and their quite easy to hit and do a good chunk of hp to a rouge/ranger/wizard. Ofc im not saying we should remove all counterplay. However i do feel like there should be a limit to how many you have. I have yet to see a geared barb not carrying like 30 of em. \
YALL SHOULD ADD A NEW BACK ITEM OF BACKPACKS THAT GIVE MORE SPACE IN DUNGEONS
They have one modeled already, could come sooner than later!
As a fighter main I can tolerate the nerfs to slayer fighter but why did they have to touch second wind? Decreasing it to 40% is crazy to me. At least you can get it from grey camp fires now. But there should be a way to increase the effects of second wind if they plan to keep it like this
Rogues could start with a random grey either protection potion/invis potion/health potion.
This would open up potential plays where rogues can set their own traps by luring foes with a dropped nice looking potion. As it stands our identity is forced into hand crossbow/ kite with 1-3rapier headshot follow-up. It's extremely dry and repetitive. @keen onyx Absolutely love your game, thank you for the hard work to you and the team.
rogue starting with an invis potion would actually be kind of neat and would encourage people to experiment with non-stealth builds the same way rangers having campfires made non-meditation builds possible back in the playtest days
Are you aware your Will stat increases the duration/healing of this effect? (Buff duration enchants on gear count too I think)
I kinda knew that. Someone told me that buff duration actually increases the time it takes but not the healing meaning less health per tick.
Ironhammer buffs are weird, they check magnitude at the start but can flow over the magnitude as the duration increases for some effects. I Haven't scienced it this patch, but someone should try it out and see if you end up with more than a 40% heal if you're bard buffed by 6 will (or gear)
Honestly, if they don't touch PDR/MDR curves, I think 40% is even a bit much. As far as EHP is concerned, that is a lot more than it seems.
add back the blue and below cap in norms
ner franger
VISUAL QUE FOR FLAME SPOUTS, PLEASE. this room in the goblin caves is extremely torturous, insane amount of mobs, tricky terrains, flame spouts, its unforgiving and extremely unfun. please at least make this change to help a bit, this could be like 3 little ticks before it comes on, something to help you know due to the huge amount of time its on, and short window its off
ive been playing this patch daily its quite prevalant
make low-roller lobbies a thing again
Change bard songs to affect a rectangular or conical volume in front of the caster, enable them to apply to friendly and hostile targets simultaneously and increase their range. With these limitations, reconsider the effects of bard Buffs, Song Attacks and Debuffs.
With more timing and skill to apply them, bard songs could form short offensive and defensive cycles playing through sets of songs to deal with the situation at hand.
please change how chain lightning works, so many ways to cheese it and its super unfun to play against when a room is full of dead mobs.
also, slow down the projectile speed of crossbow skelotens, its insane how fast it is and how much it does, other mobs is easy to swerve and i dont mind taking a hit from a bow skelly, but a CROSSBOW SKELLY? fear (sry didnt mean to do this as a response)
bros a sniper :c one bad wiggle and its over
crossbow skellys projectile speed is fine, just give a bit more space between you and the skelly while strafing and go in after the crossbow shot
make a necromancer class i think people wanted that more then what we got on the warlock that's what i was hoping warlock would be future class idea for ya
Arena Queue where you either automatically get gear or can only queue naked, the downside of making it naked only is that some classes don’t work at all naked, but others over-perform fully geared, but having a way to queue in naked guarantees that you can have some fun, without being rolled over by a lobster wielding a stick of honor, it’s rough trying to get geared midway through a wipe as everyone that has gear just wears it all going into normal games. But Arena would solve that and move it to more skill based fighting over who has the most gear
Skill issue
Yes with rubber band lag which isn't too uncommon it's impossible to dodge
Did they remove the fearture of unable blue quality and above in solo dungeuon?
Yes you can use all gear
@short heath Spitballing here, but what would you think about different levels of sour spots having different hit noises? Like a slightly less satisfying sound for lower percentages.
I think it'd be cool, cause I don't think how many people realize how often sour spots come into play, and this would help them learn and give them actual feedback to when they're not using their weapons correctly.
shields should have permanent collision like skeletons
and thus began the rise of the infamous 'back pavise' strategy
okie maybe just when in hand
I like the back pavise strat in Metal Gear Online, but that game has lots of guns and explosives, so it's not too terrible. But in DaD it should only be in hand. I just want consistantcy, arrows sail through your shield bash skill as fighter.
In game logic should be the same between mobs and players imo.
I agree but in the reverse. Mob shields shouldn't count when they aren't holding the shield up.
I agree, there should be in game logic when it comes to a heavy piece of metal/wood. My change would be, make them HEAVIER but make them constantly active.
I think it would be way too strong, considering how many times I've 'accidentally' bonked a mob's shield with a melee weapon that would've otherwise hit, but it clipped their shield before hitting them... I think this would just make fighters and clerics way too strong in melee combat.
Fighters can't use crossbow while having pasive tho
Maybe give pdr for having it on the back
Wouldn't be a bad idea by any means and it comes at no cost to balance or mechanical action of the swings/hits. Don't see why you wouldn't add it besides for maybe it's just a very low priority item at this point in development.
also kekw did you see onepeg's latest video?
Oh, of course I did.
Ranger gets slightly buffed and he goes: "No that's wrong, I think they should be nerfed."
Warlock gets the player-melter-3000 and he says: "This is cool and good.
It really shows his bias towards the classes he plays when he talks about them getting those buffs in such a favorable light
Ima send you dms again.
Honestly for me it's just a shame I'm out of country rn. I'd love to play with the point and click beam of death before it gets fixed
Thanks IM for buffing the shit out of the mage with his new fire mastery seems fun to have no chances against the teams with a mage when mage can just hit you once with a zap or fireball into the legs for 50% of your health and also cut the healing
Now every game against the mage is run and gun because insta death if you try to stand your ground or push
Hey, hey. At least IM made it so that the weaker fighter variant isn't viable anymore :3
The game is turning into rock paper scissors with a recent changes
It's always been rock paper scissors, they're just doing the blizzard style of balance changes where they play musical chairs letting each class have a turn as being OP.
For a long while near the beginning of EA it was rogue, then after rogue got nerfed ranger had their turn in the sun. Then release warlock ended up being bonkers, then post damage nerfs barb was everyone's favorite with fighter taking a close 2nd. Now we're back to letting warlock have some more fun!
Of course alongside this, Bard has always been getting nerfed over and over again because every time they got nerfed the people who play the class repeatedly kept finding new ways to make it OP. Hence why the class should just get binned.
Create a map with more player by team, like 4 players, with 20 players on the map
Accelerate the games rythim, the move speed, the attack speed, the action speed this will atract a lot of new players
They don't need to trash it, just do an appropriate rework. Like one of the 3 suggestions I've thrown out there in this exact channel.
I feel you but 🚮
Here's my suggestion for Dwarf racial traits. Leave a vote if you like it! https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506506/dwarf-racial-trait-suggestion
EVERY single game since patch I get blocked from taking weapon out/shiething/using any util items
As it should be
Nah barb (buff ball) used to counter every class in the game
kinda ramshackle. don't like it. tiny feet??
That’s always been the goal
Lovely comment...
theres at least 5 or so other dwarf suggestion perk threads, most of them +mining the only one I really like the balance of is the one with base headshot reduction because they're at shoulder height and it fits with their typical depiction of being thick boned.
why baby feet tho
If they're going to add dwarves they should be wider than other races. It offsets the shorter target with a wider target.
1.5 scale in belly would suffice ig, any larger than that they wont fit doors
Haha, indeed. Although they could if they turned sideways!
weapon sizes would be an issue as well tho, i dont think dwarf race is coming soon since shortening the characters would cause trouble
Maybe but it's a race they can't skip out on.
How would weapon sizes be an issue? They can have a similar reach to larger humans. Just that their attacks won't be as high up.
weapon sizes and models are prepared with the current char size in mind
small character could break the weapons depending on how the weapon interactions etc are coded
Real suggestion:
Make Warlock starting weapon a junk falchion + junk crystal orb, not the staff.
I don't think it's a code thing, I think it's a class instance thing. The only issue could come from balancing the reach of weapons if they do it wrong.
I'd rather keep the staff. Instead give each class a choice of different start packages.
100% i'd love unlockable starting packages
i maybe can tell you the problem as if it was in unity but the game is in unreal so maybe its a bit different: if the weapon object is the child of the player character while its active, there probably will not be much problem regarding range and hitbox, although texture and the object shape could be a bit weird so they would have to fix that. if the weapon is a sibling of player character they would probably need some working to do for animations, size, hitboxes etc
probably a good idea, just as rogue needing rapier + stiletto for starter
that is an option as well, but classes starting with identical gear is a bit L anyway (wizard warlock)
That's only if they scale the model, they don't need to do so with the overall parent object. They can standardize the model to what they want before adding the weapons. This means that the scale of the model is still 1x even if the model is shorter because the model file gets resaved to that size as opposed to using scaling modifiers.
i mean if they standardize the model the weapon will come as standard in a dwarfs hand and axes etc. would look huge
im sure they can find a way tho doesnt really seem hard but its still some dev time and i'd prefer they focus on different stuff atm
They need to do fast, a adventure guild, with quests like kill 50 goblins, kill 20 elite skeleton, and after did we can trade for loot or gold with NPCs
This would only be a problem when sheathed, changing the way a weapon like double axes orientation on the back to avoid clipping into the floor on the shorter model, but the weapons being huge in their hands isn’t an issue they are dwarves, dwarves are stronger than humans traditionally.
I'm gonna be upset if dwarves don't get a pretty big downside for their tiny hitbox.
Lizards have a normal head hitbox and get the gigantic downside of no helmet while sdf sells us the lie that their head hitbox is smaller
Dwarves are easier to hit in the head, but they should be able to move through crouched spaces at full movement speed. I think even without any other modifiers it fairly reasonable
That is so unreasonable based on how lizards are balanced.
Make lizards less shit and maybe i'll agree but if we're going offv their current idea of balance that's a big nope
make the weapons play sound whenever they collide with ground on dwarf
It’s an optional skin, only matters when your min/maxing and doesn’t matter on classes where a head slot isn’t as important eg. Bard. I don’t think it’s an issue personally lizards still the BIS skin for default as it is
That would be great lol, I do hope at some point they revisit sound for gear in general, always disliked how the only thing that matters is the boots. Would like to see armour clanks, chain mail clinking etc added to the game so you cant do stealth plate builds by wearing light foots lol
this
also different boots can have different sounds, and the more plate you wear the louder you are it makes a ton of sense
💃 it doesnt make sense that me and my team can run down a full lobby. please increase map size by like 3x
You and your team are probably running kitted in normal
Suggestions Make a map for just base kit (gray starter kit) players for those who just wanna have fun ( Unable to keep items found in the dungeon) + the server is open 24/7 so once you kill a player another one can hop in and replace him/her
Give me the halfling rogues, with their half normal length arms, barely able to stab me while standing in my hitbox!
Ankle biters, as a barb Achilles makes 10x more sense lol
"The dwarf breaths so loud we could've shot him in the dark"

Offline raids like Tarkov would be this just not multiplayer. As the game expands they could cater to the more casual community by having dedicated pve modes or something but I think short term there’s more important things to focus on.
@patent mauve
What erks me, is that every time there's a meme spam copy pasta in general chat, theyre fing right. They had orc skins right, lizard men right. WHATS NEXT GENERAL CHAT?!?
Still looking forward to if they decide to add an arena mode, they seem to have something up their sleeves for the more bloodthirsty pvp players , maybe not patch 2 but soon ™
I would so be down for an arena 1v1/2v2/3v3 map mode where you go in with base kit/white gear or less gear up in the match and fight for a portal spawn.
🦊 skin 🦊 🦊 skin 🦊 🦊 skin 🦊 🦊 skin 🦊 🦊 skin 🦊
Dc country role
That's not a bad thing though, Unless they make the dwarf ridiculously tiny, they'd be fighting with the same weapons anyways.
wizards should have a perk to reduce damage in 50% for 1 sec after attack, to protect from invis people since its the SLOWEST and WEAKER class
Mage light should gravitate and stick to rogues, because big funny.
you think wizard is slowest class?
chef class when
they just going to keep updating game so repoze and jay are happy fuck actually releasing content and get a decent base of players
Brother they are adding a new map and potentially quests, class skill system, and at some point Druid with or after patch 2
will i keep my second stash page after the wipe?
Repoze been grinding League of Legends more than he has DaD, my guy.
spell based classes could really use the UI to change as far as:
Button to remove all spells/songs
Drag and Drop spells/songs to change their position in the priority queue
Possibly even different presets for spells/perks/songs/abilities
I'm really upset with Ironmace lately. They've received at LEAST $2.8 million from the D&D community off of ONLY base game purchases. What do they have to show for it? Warlock and a lizard. All they have been doing is tweaking numbers. Look at the auction house system, for example. That is 90s style old-school gaming player to player trade system. Hell, the game doesn't even have a friends' list yet? What is seriously going on with Ironmace lately? They seemed so passionate and transparent during the playtests and then shut the doors on everyone when early access opened up. The auction house system needs replaced with a broker style system. Put an item up for sale at a set price, other players buy the item (even if you're in dungeon, receive your gold as mail when you come back to stash.) This would be VERY simple to implement... same as a friends' list. Yet neither of those features are available. I want to know what that $2.8 million actually went to because so far all I've seen is a lizard, warlock, and some number tweaking constantly. I just don't get it. I love this game but I don't understand what Ironmace is doing.
they keep messing up balancing and then trying to reverse it in a weird way
I've noticed. (Caster main)

https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/507758/improve-rogue-dual-weilding
Tell me what you think of my rogue dagger and dual wielding buff!
Tldr; make dual weilding daggers viable by improving dagger mastery perk. Using 2xdagger (or dagger+shortsword?) adds 7 move speed making move speed penalty == to rapier. Also 2nd dagger/shortsword with perk adds 5% physical power(or +1 weapon damage)
Rapier still has clear advantages, but this would be a small buff and incentive to use dagger mastery and dual wield daggers.
Perk that gives warlock knowledge/mem cap would be very very nice. I'm having a good time with an 18 memory spell loadout and swapping out dark reflection for a like 4-5 mem cap perk would feel great

I've seen a lot of players talking about this or something similar please upvote this would be a great change.
man this game is really not good for people who only want to play 2 or 3 days a week. wish there was a more casual player friendly mode.
Ah another person who think money magically make game development go faster....
Considering when they had no money they were able to update every other day during playtests, yeah.. the money should make things go a little faster. -- At least, NOT slower.
Either way, my post wasn't about the speed of development. It was the fact that NOTHING has been added since EA dropped.
they keep making bad balancing decisions, try to reverse it, make it worse, and then have no time for actual content. fun
To be fair, they did already apologise for focusing too much on the balance and not enough on actually making content. So at least they are aware.
Can we get a lobby for new players that are like in only starting gear? Playing against insanely geared players as a brand new one is not fun.
battle royale
That's fine, heard there was a gear cap before wasn't there? Why can't we have it again? Just because vets have fun rolling newbies?
it made the economy really shit. plus it was a bandaid fix, we need better ways to incentivize not slaughtering timmies
Dam, ok well hopefully they can figure something out.
yeah. balancing has been their main focus for a while, which should hopefully change this next patch. maybe they'll work something out
It's way too hard to farm new players. We need to make it so that all streamers start with full purples for free. That way, we can continue to cater to them and provide them fresh new players for harvesting
Yeah never mind the month in-between playtests were they updated the game with new stuff kinda lime they are right now. It just feels slower because you can play it constantly.
Except the changes we've been receiving have been stat adjustments.. which were happening every other day during playtests. If they actually added content aside from a warlock and lizard, then you'd have a point. Warlock is the only saving grace here in terms of your argument. Which, fair enough, I will acknowledge that adding warlock was pretty big. Other than that, though, there has been little changes to the game.

what about no map
So a week after wipe and people are already running normals with full purples and steamrolling welp i gave it a shot ggs after playing since playtest 2 this is definitely the most frustrated ive been with the game i feel like the characters are in a great spot but part of community is toxic and just wants to kill timmies guess that cant be helped
@Graysun @Luci
A humble request for a "low-roller" dungeon at some point in the game. The rules would be thus:
Low-roller only allows people to go in if they are "naked" (starter gear). This is because many heavily geared people tend to end up in the regular dungeons and there just isn't much one can do against this if you enjoy going in "naked" and earning your way to the top gear strictly from plunder. If everyone goes in naked to a dungeon, I would have more fun and I think others would agree.
One may only bring in gear that you have gotten from the low roller dungeon, meaning no gear from shops except arrows, and a small amount of healing items (this rule can be tweaked for performance). This assumes there is a way to designate gear from shops vs. specific dungeons. This allows people to have a real "Zero to Hero" arc without the ability to trade, or buy their way to the top and roll over non-sweaties.
maybe drops in this dungeon are designed a bit differently since gold doesnt have much value. Meaning, more gear, less to zero trinkets for the collector unless they serve an in-dungeon purpose.
This ensures there is a space for people that just want to go in woithout the stress of losing everything they have worked for. A space to simply explore and fight mano e mano without people that simply want to roll over nakeds. It will grant a real since of adventure to any player going into the dungeon with gear that they plundered from low-roller since they could lose it all, without the ability to buy it all back.
Regular dungeons are a great chaotic battleground where anything can happen, I like the idea of capping the level of items allowed in there, and don't mind the freedom of game play if there was a specific place for people like me; people that just want to have fun with this glorious game without the fear of turning a corner to inevitable death.
Thank you for your time,
Joelbearski, fond member of this community
This dude writing an essay like he's a project manager
When I have a good idea, I like to convey it well. Thankyou for noticing my small effort hahaha
Add in non binary characters that have crazy strong spells that can put illusions on enemy’s
can you add a wow type arena 3v3 or also a 1v1
Put the gear cap back.
joelbearskis idea is actually quite good, it would be a scav mode basically for people to earn gear and put a cooldown timer on when that mode can be used no gear just base kits only no healing or arrows or any purchasables
Lizardmen race attributes really need balancing helmets are way better
i just got two tapped by a rogue with a green rapier as a geared barbarian i dont want to hear ANYONE say rogue needs a buff
Limiting the lizard men to non metal helmets seems more reasonable than no helmets at all
exactly what I was thinking
What’s stopping a lizard from putting a silly wizard hat on his head
it would be the best
they're gonna have to make armor for the dwarves when they arrive(unless they're able to just shrink existing models) but there should be helmets for them
For balancing I figured they could add magic resistance in the form of fire/ice/poison resistance per skin or maybe..just maybe a breath attack.
this way its more than just +20 armor rating on their heads, -if they're able to wear leather caps & hats, then problem solved -but if no helmets drop the armor rating bonus to 15, or keep at 20, and add bonuses(like fire/poison/ice resistance or breath attacks) -it'd be more balanced this way when most hats or helmets can be well over 20 armor rating with 3-4 bonuses as well
I agree lizardman needs something more to compensate for how bad he is, but limiting him to non-metal helmets means there's literally no downside to running lizardman for some classes.
His flat ahh head
Would limit everyone but like range, rogue, wizard
All other classes have better bone or metal helmets
Ok but having a skin that is a direct upgrade from base with no downsides even if it's just for one class is not good, that's pay 2 win.
A simple QoL suggestion please? When i've accepted an invite to a team in the gathering hall, please can I automatically be sent to the lobby rather than having to close several menu's?
Allow with the use of perk or by default to tip weapons and arrows in bodies like the zombie and goblin weapons to gain poison damage, same with fire pots and other elements.
Why do u assume other ppl want this?
I enjoy being on trade or stash, accepting trade and not having to go back to those menus
Assuming you're in the gathering hall to find a group to playw ith, so going directly back to the lobby around the table will let you start a game immediately? itys got nothing to do with the stash or trade?
If i accept a group invite i expect to be starting a game shoirtly thereafteer
Well but that’s you dude, maybe I’m figuring out what to buy, what to use while I accept an invite and I don’t wanna have to go back to clicking menus to continue my prep
That’s not a quality of life, that’s your own personal preference, don’t assume everyone plays like you. Quality of life is having a sort items on your inventory
I guess it is just me, my dude, but i'd expect to have done what i needed to do with my loadout before accepting an invite and wasting peoples time for 5 or 10 minutes
Here's my suggestion for Dwarf racial traits. Leave a vote if you like it! https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506506/dwarf-racial-trait-suggestion
I think its way too ez to get to lvl 20 for me at least, they should increase the time i need to get to lvl 20, maby only players who extract should get xp, or is it bad for new players that this game desperately need?
If the druid class is gonna have an animal form ability: Spider form - maybe try having them be able to traverse vertically. Either wall climbing of some sort, or maybe use of web spinning. 🤷
please add a chase mechanic to either everyone or one of the classes where if you''re looking at an enemys back while sprinting you get more movement speed so people cant just turn around and run around the map
Have you guys wondered why Bards can't play their instruments while resting? Do you think players will find something exploitable if Bards were able to play a song while resting?
I sugest to debug the fuckign aggro of bobs witht he invisibility jsut u cant pvp alone all time of this shit dont work
remove crossbow from fighters
no rsn a 60% pdr class has a weapon that will do 120 dmg at range
I wonder if they will ever add craftable potions
You'd have to give them something to close the distance for wizards/warlock/rangers then. Which was why they had a super sprint.
Just make crossbow not on fighter by default so they have to use a perk with -10% damage to use a ranged weapon. Other than Francisca Axes of course.
Improve Ranger melee potential and nerf ranged options across the board.
That or give all classes a ranged archetype.
Making Ranger and Wizard the only two sources of ranged damage will be bad for the long term diversity of the game if their primary function is ranged damage.
Have you met spear ranger? U get +10% Physical Damage Bonus while using too.
They have one melee option. That is not diversity
everyone has
they crumple in two hits
Have you heard of arming sword? Rapier? Maybe Short Sword, you know, what they start with?
Spear is just the only perk they have that gives a bonus to a melee weapon. (And also allows use of said weapon)
squishy classes will never have meaningful melee archetypes in the current game, melee damage is simultaneously too high and low to work
So they only have one melee playstyle that's supported with perks, correct?
Spear is pretty good to stab once and then block an attack, or you could also play distance.
You could say that, but slayer fighter has them get +5 Weapon damage at the cost of Plate armor. So, I suppose Ranger gets no bow and only crossbow with +5 weapon damage to melee? Or maybe only survival bow?
No. Just give them Slayer as-is. They dont have the Dual wield perk to take advantage of additional speed, nor do they have falchions for exceedingly high damage, nor plate to give up. They would just have an additional option that's not just spears.
Give rapier mastery from bard to ranger, there u go, +3 weapon damage and +5% attack speed
Nah, slayer fits the Ranger better since Rangers in ttrpg history have usually been dual wielders. Bards having rapier mastery makes sense for the same reasons
Rogues not having anything to support rapier is gross and shameful tho
If a bard is using tranquility song while resting he can stay in the dark swarm forever
This is horrible idea ,
Would make kites players farm timmies even easier
Tranquility should work while walking so they actually have a healing option. It would be the same as a trolls blood or purple healing potion, but only for burned hp. Before it was OP, but at 1hp a second it's not that huge but definitely good. And, again, only for burned hp. Right now it's pretty terrible.
I disagree.
Well, you would be healing 1.5hp/sec while sitting and dark swarm does 1hp/sec, so makes sense.
Guys , u can camp the dark swarm as a naked cleric with 0 campfires or heals.
Resting is too strong right now , I can rest and use lesser heal and stay in fog permanently.
Resting shouldn’t give u this much hp regen, or make it so the dark swarm gives u a negative healing buff.
A naked cleric shouldn’t be able to camp dark swarm all game
Yeah, but you wouldn't be sitting in a dark swarm for that long, only to realise you need to run across the map, losing all that recovered health.
U said 0 heals, but lesser healing is a heal...
how
True, although I suppose if tranquility worked while walking, you could camp the swarm and heal as you take damage. As you would heal 1hp/sec and take 1hp/sec. Maybe make Tranquility work while standing but at half the amount so only 0.5hp/sec which would be the same as sitting and resting.
What if I’m standing next to a static portal?
You need to rest in order to get healing effect from tranquility, otherwise it's just broken and people would use it to their advantage.
Sounds like Bloodlust in Dead by Daylight. It would be a pretty bad idea to implement that.
Dude don’t be coy, I meant campfires or pots or bandages
The only thing I can do against a fully stacked fighter or barbarian , is to unequip my items and run , now u wanna take the only tool available away from lowbies
Why would you sit next to a static portal the whole time? You literally just wait to get out without loot nor kills. What's the point?
Idk boys, bard is one of the worst classes right now.
You can find a static portal, sit down with ur friends and play tranquility over and over and u can tank the dark swarm, does that make any sense to you ?
Why are u assuming I got no loot? Maybe I just looted a golden key off a skeleton champion and now I get to play risk free by camping the swarm, that’s lame, the swarm is made to kill you.
why
ok so what about when ur both default gear and u can just run indefinitely because you're botht he same speed, u think thats good gameplay?
this happened to me a few minutes ago; the first chest i got I picked up a purple candleholder, and went to kill the centipede and got insane loot. I was next to the static exit and camped it the entire game to get out, made around 200g from only like 6 items
I think it’s an option that should exist, and some classes and faster then others , some have sprint like abilities, that’s what makes them strong, if everyone was equally fast then it would be boring
And you realise you need to play the lute in order to stay alive. Now imagine another Bard has the same idea and decides to kill you and take your golden key. People can still hear you playing and most likely know the static exits.
Nobody gonna hear me if I am standing so far from the circle man, that’s some cope, why u wanna play songs sitting down anyways? Do you wanna rest and use invis on yourself? Also lame
Okay try to keep your comments civil. I was making a suggestion and you decided to undermine it without contructive criticism. If this is the best you can argue, then no sense in talking to you.
thats why i said to everyone or some classes, it could be a perk and you could add a perk that removes the speed boost to the player chasing you. I just think its stupid that people can just x and run away and theres no way for you to catch them, let me give and example i was fighting a ranger as warlock and hes running away from me, i catch up to him and hit him once but the slow I get from swinging makes it so im out of reach and then i cant catch him anymore, we both run across the map and die to a stacked group and mobs <- this gives me cancer cause it happens way too often that people just x midfight and run around the entire map until one of us dies to 3rd party or mobs
Without constructive criticism? Are u trolling me ? Gave you multiple reasons why it’s bad.
Also why just bards? Why can’t wizards cast a spell sitting down? Why can’t a ranger shoot a bow while standing down? Dude , you are the one that hasn’t said why it would be a good idea
Try imagine the opposite, someone with better gear or a class that counters warlock can just press W at you, and there is nothing u can do, does that sound fun?
If you are chasing someone for the entire map, and then you both die to pve, and this happens to you multiple times, my man, u are doing something wrong
Instead of wanting to adapt the entire community to your play style , how bout u try learn something new
Do you ever unequip items to go faster? Do you ever use hydra to block the person you are chasing? Do you ever jump before you swing so you don’t lose move speed while swinging?
I’m gonna go ahead and say no
this you 🤓 actually i do all those things, and what you said about the opposite yes that seems fair that I die when I engage someone with better gear than me and then try to run away mid fight, and if theres a perk that blocks chase ill still be able to escape in case i do try run. try to think before talking
Try to think before talking ? You want every class to have a perk that removes chasing , or you want every class to be the same movespeed.
These things make no sense, there are 8 classes and more coming, there are solo map, duo map and trio map, and u want to basically make all classes the same, that’s boring.
There are gonna be advantages and disadvantages to all classes, that’s the originality of the game dude, stop trying to make everyone the same
i never said both those things learn how to read
And 100% u don’t do all the things I said, u die to pve as a warlock dude, that told me everything I needed to know about what’s ur skill cap
u never died to pve? must be talking to the best dad player rn wow
You said u want all classes or “almost all” to have a perk to stop chasing , what is that dude , perks are class based passives, and you want all, or almost all, to have 1 perk in common
I have , but if I often die to pve cause I’m chasing a player, maybe I’ll learn quicker then you and either stop, or get better at handling the pve
you're on drugs or imagining things. i never said the words "almost all" or that all classes should have it. here are my words: " either everyone or one of the classes" notice the "OR". I also said that I die to PVP chasing players exactly like you, is there something wrong with you cause u literally cant reada
imagine lying about something as simple as this, says a lot about you
Man you are the one that can’t read , it’s all good, go queue ur ruins map and die to pve
so now that you got exposed you got better things to do hahaha
your only response is "no you" be a smartass somewhere else pls
This is exactly what u said , I just quoted above dude
reply to the message where i said the words "almost all", cant believe you're still lying dude
My response is “no you” ? Actually I’ve given u multiple reasons why it’s a bad change, you just keep ignoring and saying “no my idea so good”
Another person also jumped in and said it would be pretty terrible idea
First two lines. “Everyone or some classes”
actually i addressed every point you made, half of which were you saying "get good" again lying that I ignored ur points. And yes you're response to me exposing your lies was literally repeating what I said which was "you are the one that cant read".
You are actually iq deficient if you can’t read your own sentence
So where is the "almost all" I thought you were quoting me?
the point you made saying that this woudnt work on all classes doesnt make sense since I literally said it doesnt have to be all either
“Everyone or some classes” = “all or almost all” are u seriously stuck on the semantics between “some” and “almost”? Do you think that’s what’s gonna make the argument for you? Yikes
some
/sʌm,s(ə)m/
determiner
determiner: some
1.
an unspecified amount or number of.
Then it would be even worse, u want some classes to be immune to chasing, while others aren’t xD
and to this i already replied saying a perk could be to counter it for balance, but you dont know how to read so you keep saying stuff that i already mentioned
Ok so@, your idea is to give chase immunity to some classes, yeah , that seems like a great idea dude! Let’s make it so some classes don’t have to worry about chasing and others do, that’s a cool mechanic that makes total sense
Ha so , your idea is to force some classes to waste 1/4 perk slots to achieve what some classes have by base, yeah that’s a great idea dude
Man I hope they hire you as a dev with such amazing ideas!
you got nothing to say besides sarcastic comments and the other stuff you say are blatant lies, im done with this convo 👍 speak to a shrink instead of me
and btw, something similar already exists ingame, its called the "sprint" skill on fighter, my suggestion is a different take on it. Seems like it isnt such a dumb idea
Sprint is very fighter unique, and u want to give that uniqueness to other classes, that loses originality.
And a perk is different then an ability that you can use.
I’ve given you many reasons why it’s bad, running has to be a viable tactic in a game like this, yet u wanna remove it from everyone cause u for no clue
When druid
god bless archers and their ability to slow everything whilke putting massive damage out
ever since this patch, the number of times i get RUN DOWN in my own spawn room before i even have a chance to leave or get the initial mobs in front of the first door/exit off me... has been astronomically higher than any other patch
I have a suggestion for Warlock
Would be a cool idea to have an ability that takes your health away and puts a healing dot on teammates.
Unique Short Sword
Name: Kopton/Slasher
For every hit made add 1 stack of bleed which stack up to 5 dealing 10 damage a stack it would activate affter 15 seconds releaseing up to 50 damage for 5 stacks. Can be clensed and or Bandaged.
Thoughts?
@stoic thorn cool idea would have to be heavily balenced
I think healing dots would definitely be a thing they give to druid imo
wouldnt druid have more shapeshifting abilities?
@river flint owl bear
Druid is infact capable of doing both
Druids typically have both in any game they’re in
Druids gonna be playing fuckin 4D chess over here playing the game like its pokemon
well maby they inspire druid from Dungeons and dragons soo i dont know that much about that game
In dungeons and dragons they do both
ok cool
dont add in clarity pots back to the game and have a grey clarity pot for wizard default gear
Wizards early game now
HR/NORMAL LOBBY REVAMP IDEA: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkAndDarker/s/7SepTxtS5s
Seems like it’s been getting positive feedback from the folks who’ve actually read it, so I’ll bump it every day that I feel up to it.
If you dig it, please vote it up on the dark and darker official suggestion page: https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/507237/adventurers-pack-pass-a-hrnormal-lobby-revamp-idea
Also would be cool to have a gold named rapier that can parry/riposte
smoke bomb should be an item rather then a skill and rogue should start with 2
fix the mob aggro
it would be super coolio if the devs made goblin caves duo fr fr.
Nobody would know how to use the parry
@stoic thorn its name shall be know as Perry
Merchant idea, Players should be able to buy the gray version of all items. This would allow casual players to be able to buy a base kit for less than 100g. Any higher quality items could be subject to the timers to keep the FOMO.
I THINK RANGERS ARE OP AS HELL. Rangers that 2 or 1 shot people should not exist unless its very endgame.
30 silver should be worth 15g to help with more accurate trades
Hello everyone, I know some people are dealing with players who wipe servers, while other players are just trying to loot and get out to make some bank. Well, this idea supports both. I'd like to suggest something like a king of the hill where the event spawns in a random location and you have to take control of the event and kill other players to take control. Once you take control, a chest spawns with really good items to make it worth your time. While other players are looting, the players who like to pvp can go there instead. The developers can make their own twist on this that is way better. I used to play a lot of modded dayz servers that had a king of the hill mod. It was fun, enjoyable and exciting. Here is the mod-https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2350401726
can they change buff duration bonus and debuff duration bonus too buff your own spells. So that stat isn't slept on
Throw torches on to rangers bear traps to activate them, so you can walk over them. Make books able to magically show the map in a better way. Stuff like that would add to the fun.
give rogues a parry dagger
Remove the ability to bump into walls with a spellbook, it's stupid.
What about an auction house that is only open on the weekends? you can only buy and sell stuff on saturdays and sundays. during the normal week you have to use normal trade chat.
that would suck for people who dont get the weekends off.
Maybe stop focusing on "tournaments" and finish balancing your game. There is no "baseline balance" reached. You haven't even released the perks yet. Maybe you should make it even easier for streamers to farm newb players. Bring back item caps for one.
item caps didn't work out very well
how hard do you think it was to pull together the code for a tournament when they already have the code for regular gameplay and for testing themselves my man. maybe a few days? week? 2 weeks at the most? not a huge deal
ROGUE SMOKEBOMB ; instead of smoke billowing from 'object' upwards and being quite inefficient, make it blast smoke DOWN on an angle and have the smoke be deflective like the Zombies gas is
WARLOCK STARTER ; Warlocks should no longer start with the magic staff, have them start with a grey Crystal sword or crystal ball and a mace.
SOLDIER 'nerf' ; Remove ability to rest-restore Second wind. its kinda 3rd , 4th, 5th wind right now
I don't think at any point in the game a Ranger should be able to kill a full health player in 1/2 arrows, headshot damage is way to high
plus the annoying ass traps. should be a skill honestly
Change Invisibility pots they're worthless
change some hr goblin rooms, right now the hardest rooms have the least loot and the easiest rooms have the best, plus theyre all stuck together, spawn in the north? easy game. spawn in the south? first half of the game is trying to survive
I honestly feel like they're kinda underrated. you can pop one while someone's opening a door and catch them off guard
Some sort of Item Level based Matchmaking needs to be implemented, not fun at all when I go into a dungeon fresh spawn and then die just to see that the guy i was fighting is in FULL purple and legendary gear.
That regulates the game too much in my opinion. This game isnt like other games where you insert this type of matchmaking and all of a sudden it gets better. If that was implemented it would turn this game into just another boring pvp game. For example if you're in all epic(purple) gear and get matched with other all epics does the loot still feel epic?
Hey lads.
I just wanted to cast my thoughts to the wind. DaD was special because all the classes were very different. The original vision was balance through team composition, and that bore out through 4 out of 5 playtests.

Here's my mixtape.
What do you guys think about an insurance system like tarkov? I feel like it could be an idea as the thing that really kills this game for me is going in with a "good" kit and just getting walked by the juiced squad and seeing them not even loot me. Feel like this could be a good idea for long term heath if this was a feature for norms
Nerf the Barb please
you should be able to move after drinking one but the duration invisible drains 5x faster while not standing still
Here's my suggestion for Dwarf racial traits. Leave a vote if you like it! https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/506506/dwarf-racial-trait-suggestion
A dummy in stash so you can have a second load out ready when u die.
What about interchangeable stashes. 30g and waiting for a friend is just stress
When i get an epic book on my ranger, I don't want all this hassle to get it to my cleric/wiz/warlock
True. I feel a solution to this could be 2 sets of matchmaking one is no gear except base kits and grey utility. so you can buy potions n bandages but nothing else. And the other is everyone else whites to purples...
HR needs more incentive so purple and blue boys are way less seen in normies.. but idk if that's the game they're going for. I mean think about WOW bg's those twink players had BIS. But it wasn't losable
I think it would be better to have say a grey white green matchmaking tier and a blue purp gold tier that way good gear still feels good but other people still have a chance at killing you
Go upvote if u think a simple second loadout dummy in stash would be nice to have
Basically you are suggesting to make a preset slots?
I'm already a dummy in my stash, what a waste.
so just a question or suggestion if you take all the good loot and stick it in high roller why take the gear cap out of normals people are running bis sets into normal lobbys while other people struggle to gather any gold or collectables while these other geared teams literally hunt you down
Are Bards overpowered or have unfair advantage over other classes/players if they are able to play songs/particular songs while resting? Please leave a comment about your opinions! https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/508027/bards-sitting-while-playing-songsparticular-songs
YO pve server.
can we please get auction house
never have a seen a more boring waste of dev time
Touch grass
yes please.
Anyone else having a bug (think its related to bindings in scroll wheel (up, down, and press) where you sheath your weapon or block with the required weapon and it stays locked in that way no matter what you press, cant use consumables/deployables and im pretty much a boxer or an idiot running around with a long sword in perry position. ????
I 100% agree, the traps on Ranger should be a skill rather than guaranteed everytime.
I'm honestly kind of confused why rangers have traps at all, that is not a part of their DnD inspiration whatsoever. Feels more like a rogue thing than anything else
Taking inspiration from a game doesn't mean you have to copy it verbatim/cannot implement your own takes on the classes and their identities.
especially with rogues having a trap themed perk lol
but a perk for ranger to use traps sounds like a great idea. either that or give other classes an equally strong starter kit
anyone else having audio problems
Bring back item caps
Please make it to where you cant wear purple items in normal again.
