Suggestion: turn the login server on last, that way your servers arent getting flooded with bad requests while stuff is updating/rebooting

Nobody can fix this uneducated stance but you. It's called a hotfix, not an update first of all. They are intended to make sure that players can play during the playtest.

I think it's a direct response to spammers and the internet trolls rather then silencing the testers. As you can see the server is currently in a state of anarchy because of the spams, trolling, ect. I'm sure they'll get a reign on it soon

Likely the channel is being targeted by said trolls and was closed. I'd recommend DMing a dev, or you could DM me and I'll post it in the troubadour section/suggestions to relay your message on your behalf
Edit cool down - maybe create a temporary muted role to apply to the spammers/trolls until the server calms down just a bit

Idk if it was proposed or not, but: If i sell from stash to vendor, place gold stacks into STASH not into player inventory. Its really lame to sell, forget about it, go into next run with 20 stacks of money.
I'd suggest that some of these playtesters could use more hugs.
#suggestion-discussion I propose to introduce a system of small reports on players. it's not the first time I've played with random people. they kill you before you go out and take your things. I propose to make a report label that scammers, when such players receive it from several random players, a label is hung on them in the lobby. that they're rats. others who join them in the group will see it immediately and leave them. And so that the label is linked to the account.
id recommend making it darker outside the circle instead of killing you slowly, and making circle slower or even just remove it all together
TRIPLE RED PORTALS ARE GOOD. I think you should NOT add triple blue. Groups should be heavily incentivized to go down.
why just a mini map and no way to look at the map as a whole?
Because of the difficulty of the game ive never seen anyone go down to level 2 and making it out. When someone from my team takes a red portal its always because there are no blues left. And when he does guess what? Hes the ONLY guy there. So i suggest a pve only game with bosses on difrent levels. I would enjoy that very much and id be able to go down to diffrent levels opposed to always grinding on lvl1, getting good gear only to die again and losing everything and repeating the process (maybe im just bad at the game and need to get good but even so, id very much like a pve only game mode)
I also really like the idea of triple red portals, but agree triple blue portals should not be a thing, unless they add some new mechanic with a new added floor or something with a really really hard boss that would allow you to get triple blue but i think it should be very very hard if added. Would really love triple red portals tho.

I think this game is damn near perfect besides the servers currently. its consistent, plays well with a casual to mid tier gamers skill. and i also READ THE IN GAME INFO THAT SAYS WHAT WE ARE PLAYING IS TECHNICALLY HARD MODE. so I know you're working on more casual playing styles already. stay on course. follow the passion that led y'all to make this game. its perfectly fine.
We need more portals, dying due to lack of portals is not fun. We need guaranteed extracts. Rng deaths are not acceptable.

new portal spawns are hitting a sweet spot, still dying, but actually extracting as a solo
Im still getting to the point where I'm the last one running around but no portals are accessible. They don't spawn fairly, most of the time they'll be in the middle of the final room where the monsters are camping it.
It's starting to feel more like luck in finding one before the circle pushes you somewhere to die.

Clerics need a nerf. spam heal is broken af. its crazy being able to heal someone from 50-100% in 2 seconds and being able to continuously do it. I get we are the support but damn feels wrong just sitting there healing someone to full 3 times and not get punished. Honestly true Dark. This whole wizard/cleric/bard(or fighter) meta for two tests in a row is getting exhausting. Love having my group run down by one player so cracked out of his mind on buffs and heals that he may as well have godmode enabled.

Gonna need to disagree, it'd be beyond gross. @cursive cobalt Imagine having a personal submachine gun you can back away constantly while spitting those at approaching melee combatants. You're already one of the fastest and agile classes with haste + invis. Only reliable way to kill one is ranger or rogue getting lucky in a corridor or ambush. - Wizard main here also.

Is it just me, or do the AI seem a bit funky in the 3rd level? Had three mobs rush me as I left spawn, and they straight up rounded a corner before I even knew they existed. It was two red archers and a demonic centaur, and it wasn't fun.

Thoughts on solos starting with a campfire and bandage? I feel getting hit by a mob as a solo is so impactful because your not able to pvp untill you heal
Don't get hit. Even when I play in a full 3 man team the rule is always don't get hit. Don't waste your clerics heals on your dumb ass taking unnecessary dmg. Every enemy can be killed if you approach them carefully and correctly. Don't make stupid and aggressive plays. Not trying to be a dick but learning how to kill every enemy without taking dmg is the tutorial level of the game lol

I think he was saying technically we are on floor two he’ll is floor 3 and floor 1 is not yet open it says in the in game guide book. I think it was a response to people who think the game is broken hard or that like they aren’t being nice enough to the player. Personally I agree with suit the balancing they did this patch is amazing. Yeah clerics are really good at healing and busting npcs yeah barbs are freaking powerhouses they all have there perks but they all get screwed just as hard. The portals not always being possible to your team is just part of the challenge. Spoiler it’s not meant to be easy.

If devs are reading, the new portal changes made the game fun again for my 3 man team and I who have 40hrs each of gameplay. It was too easy to die with full gear even if we kill many teams because there was no portals available(very disheartening). Also the triple red portal which encourages ppl to all go to 2nd floor easier and fight each other which is a rare sight.

The game isn't intended to be played as a solo. Can you do it? Yes. Can you be successful with it? Yes. But it's not what the devs want and they're not trying to cater to it. They've announced that several times over in the updates and podcasts

I don't think they are against solos just the solo only mode, one of the reasons the game doesn't do triple blue portals is to split up trios so that solos have more of a chance.

I haven't seen the Devs comment on what kind of updates the melee system will get, but I don't think nerfing is the answer. With the system as it is now the best strat is often to just spam at the other player, and if one player has good gear they will win that, nerfing isn't the solution. I would like a more engagine melee system

@civic agate my point is. 5-7 shot than a reload isn’t really a nerf. On a weapon that kills in a few shots depending on your weapon and damage. I personally like the change as it seems more realistic than just firing a million arrows non stop.

They added a quiver that limits the amount of arrow you can shoot. before you need to reload it. you've got infinite arrow still. it's not that bad for PvP but pve it is annoying. as it makes clear room by yourself an absolute chore. as you need to reload after every kill unless you have a good bow to use

i think there is better way on chest opening speed. Big chest - slow opening, smallest one - very fast. Most time it feels wasted to open small chest - u get grey crap no one need, but u waste time/ make noise
They removed the map with the biggest sightlines because ranger was "too strong on it", they added a armor type that reduces ranged damage by flat percentages (feels like it might be stacking with regular armor too), they made helmets prevent some headshot damage(biggest source of damage), they made the heal delayed and require an animation, they nerfed spear damage for the spear perk by 10 dmg, they made the long bow slower to shoot from last play test, and yes they added a quiver. Next thing you know they are going to nerf traps. they also just buffed fighters speed ability which counters rangers because now its even harder to keep them at range.
and they need to nerf rogues harder than that.

The ring defo feels too punishing this test, love exploring and playing tactical but with how fast rounds are now thats not really possible.

Please nerf the Ranger weapon. As a mage player i get 1 headshot an i am instantly dead. No matter what armor everytime i get 1 shot by a long bow. This dmg is so broken. No wonder why everybody plays ranger.
I honestly feel the classes are pretty well balanced, ranger is just annoying af because he prevents u from rushing for the kill. Wizard also although there arent as many wizards. I suggest a solo, duos and trios queue instead of having to send invites for 5 minutes

The last minutes of the match should progress slower so actual fighting happens instead of running away as quickly as possible before the zone comes in and you cant leave anymore + spawn some portals when the zone closes into nothingness

Detailed Stats Please! Much of the community are min max style of gamers. Especially when we are able to loose our beloved gear. I would love a detailed stat system. Strength increased Dmg and HP by X. This spell does X damage. 3 Agility increases Movement speed by x, action speed by x. Currently it's a bit difficult to understand the values that are being displayed. I'm sure it's stuff that's in the works, but being able to decide what gear is actually worth risking is a very large part of the game. Currently we can't tell how much damage half the spells do in the game either. Please allow us to see actual number values for the vast majority of stats, and the number values of the stats they invluence. Thank you!
too small amount of blue teleports, died 5 times in a raw, playing with friend, there is always 1, but nowhere 2, always leave a 3 minutes in a round to find teleport but this isn't enough i guess.

circle speed feels bad. hard to have strategic fights that take a while and still loot corpse/chests. lots of time we fight and win but have to leave or tank the gas with meds just to loot the bodies. portals seem okayish.
Bumping this recommendation to reduce the clip area of mobs. I.e. can’t jump over mummy spiders, getting sandwiched between two mobs in a doorway when they’re both skinny skeletons etc.
the combination of the insane circle speed and the lack of blue portals have made this version of the game drastically less fun unfortunately. I like the new spell system a lot, and overall everything feels more polished, but the core system mechanics feel frankly terrible. There is no time to loot, or explore, you have to constantly run to not just die to the circle, and then only 1-2 members of your team are likely to get out tops. Most of our "successful" runs have us dropping loot for one person to take the 1 freaking portal to evac.
I completely agree, this method of nerfing squad-play is NOT the way to go, and there will not be one ahead if they keep headbutting the steel wall of "no solo queues". Any method they try to increase enjoyment of one playstyle will decrease the enjoyment of the other. Seperate the queues!
I think the blue portals are significantly better than pre-hotfix yesterday. I'd go as far as to say they are so much better that it's almost no different than last playtest. Circle speed I agree with though
the dagger mastery perk should give flat increase instead of %, cuz 5% of 20 is too low compared to 5% of 80

i know everyone else is saying it but i also want more time on the map sometimes we find 2 other 3 mans including ourselkves and it takes pretty much the full time to fight and loot and rez if need be, just killed two people with my bare fists and didnt have time to get out or even loot anyone
PT2 showed how leaderboards for normals are a bad idea, but I think an easy remedy would be to have a personal stats page ala Tarkov

i think this game is not for everyone. i dont like PVP, limited enemies in PVE. i dont like losing items. glad you guys like the game thou. i escaped a few times solo rogue, didnt feel joy after escaping.

There is no way on earth you are getting one shot headshot from a single arrow with full HP. I have all damage perks AND the headshot perk and it takes minimum 3 headshots to kill any player. Show a video of this happening because I call BS. I could make an entire montage of players with 2 arrows in thier face rushing and killing me.
EDIT: Guy sends me half a combat clip of a guy mid fight with no total HP indication getting hit point blank in the face with a multishot all 5 arrows from the archer perspective and says "see one shot headshots" ffs lol

I think all the classes are good, barring some basic balancing. I will say that infinite ammo (regardless of a reload) for archers is a bit much. The reload isn't that difficult to pull off unless you are a solo. Rogues are very gear dependent but very good for soloing. They can deal good damage but die very quickly if you run into a plate wearer. Fighters are good at pursuing and dealing with rogues/rangers. Barbarians feel like you are wading through molasses, but if you hit a clothy they are dead immediately. Clerics are solid, aside from doing not so great damage unless you sacrifice healing capabilities. Wizards have the draw back of having to meditate after every combat otherwise they have no spells, and they have their higher power spells locked behind high cost on memory. So really, against popular belief the ranger still needs balancing. Say what you want but too often I observe rangers winning fights that they should've lost. There is also an exploit that allows you to use multi shot to avoid a reload animation. Also rapid shot skips the reload as well. So that is why everyone is coming after the rangers.

Suggest having mining speed scale off Resourcefulness (1/2) + Strength Traits (1/2). Just seems fitting for the action being performed. Rogues can mine faster than barbs / fighters seems wrong.

I so much dont like hunting trap disarm no longer requiring a skill check. It should be just a little slower.
Ranger really is the best class right now and although i play fighter i always duo with a ranger, the utility he brings is just insane. Beartraps and all the different arrow skills he has can decimate 3 mans easily. Infact Ranger is so hard to fight that even with a shield he can still shoot at my legs if i decide to charge one, or hold the 3 shot skill in my face incase i attack and then kill me. Beartrapping doors and even free campfire kits, this class is just good. I feel like melee should be able to chase them better. If anyone wants to discuss it further with me you can dm me

A headshot from that would do ~70 Damage with the Axe Specialization perk. Could also just be someone with +damage gear
You can reach it as a non rogue, you just have to take off all your armor unequip your weapon throw a torch beforehand perfectly time both your jump onto the trap and off of the trap when it's resetting and won't damage you, go past a bunch of spikes in the wall go past another trap be stuck in a room full of mobs kill them all without being forced back into the spike corridor or by using the spike corridor and then use the exit portal

I want to see it from your perspective as a mage please so I can see the actual health pool and single shot arrow hitting. I have shot them many times with the blue 40+ dmg longbow in the head and this has never happened. A few people already tried to send me some bogus clips of mid fight combat with a multshot saying it was a "one hit kill"

They need to fix the bug where other players can kill me, they also need to buff the class I play and nerf the ones i'm not playing. I should be able to summon an escape portal whenever I want to leave.

What if they remove the damage that the circle does, instead keep how the portals spawn within the ring, then add a timer that at the end of it the map is entirely ingulfed in that darkness that is the ring right now. After change the spawn of down portals so they're more frequently near the edge of the current ring and the opposite for specifically three person escape portals (if or when they add them).
A big issue in the game is people don't bring in loot unless it's high roller, a big reason people don't bring in loot is because it costs too much for what they get. everyone sells everything they get immediately
Increasing stash size would help solve these issues.
A third of my inventory is just gold bags, I can't keep any armor or weapons due to space. and the gold to gear value ratio isn't worth it. instead of 6 slots going to gear i could have 300 gold and just buy bad trader gear, instead of keeping and taking in better gear

The current getting slowed on hit is not good, like its way to severe of a penalty for taking a hit. Example: Rogue can no longer get away with taking 1 hit.. now you take 1 hit plus a bunch more since you cant rely on the 30 agility to retreat... needs some rethinking.
That's... literally the entire point of stagger. It means Rogues can't just pop in, stab you four times, and then run away while you bleed to death.
an insurance system really doesn't seem plausible in this game given the melee nature of it. you kill someone and you're at their body and dropping something in the middle of a fight is rough because a sword makes a loud TING noise as you're being chased
Gotta say it's a real feelsbad when you hit someone with a 2h axe at your 2h range. If they have their weapon away the stagger doesn't last long enough and they just walk away before your combo is able to land. I think some of the movement penalties when attacking needs to be adjusted. Maybe characters can retain their speed on some of the windup.

Make a permanent buff that increases attributes, health or damage. So we have more survivability for the lack of healers.
Make mobs prioritize attacking groups rather than solo players.

Make mobs aggro from much closer to solo players.
This would allow solo players to escape mobs if they cant fight or use mobs as allies. Since going solo is almost impossible to take multiple mobs at once.

How we feel about wizards
This is strange, but Mage-Rogue with dagger + sphere is very good. A lot of damage from Fire Enchant, plus you are very sneaky peaky man. Cast haste + invis and rush in to your enemy. Two-three shot him and just leave with another invis cast. Amazing strat. Very easy to fight 1 vs 3

I think clerics could use a little faster interaction/opening speed. Feels like the game is punishing you for playing a healer cleric because your teammates open everything faster and just take it all, you often can't loot anything. Talking about random teammates ofc, self made teams are not a problem in that regard. Good way to overcome that for me was to just ignore chests completly and focus on destroying barrels/boxes. But idk, I just feel this way after playing whole day as a cleric with random teammates. Maybe he could use a little buff in that regard.
I love playing a orb dagger wizard with ignite fire mastery melt and quick chant. You melt through people in melee. No one expects the shank wizard.
Discovered this today, and has been a fantastic play style option, big casting with wizard is hard in group combat so this allow for buffing and solo play style
groups > solo, right? And i think it should be that way. So, if we're going that direction, reducing groups' access to healing (via cleric) and revival, would make the game more interesting for groups, and more even for solos. I think.

Create a Toggle Crouch Keybind option
Need to add in damage on wizards spell. Zap for example has no damage listed. Nor does it pop up as arcane or not. You can hit a skeleton footman with 6 zaps and it still keeps coming without an issue. It implies wizard damage is very low when considering DPS matrixes. Also magic missiles tracking system doesn't seem to work. The missile will fly around the target 4-5 times before it hits an object. other spells that don't seem to work right are ice blast, it slows players but not PVE. Lighting Bolt can be cast on a zombie 5 time and still not take it down. Fireballs flame ticks aren't functioning on PvE targets. Wizard are kind of a mess over all.
When your stuck between a monster and a trap... its a bit lame we shoould be able to push or kick if no your just dying from the trap ou the npc

Fireball collision needs to be tightened. im aiming on the left edge of a door way and its exploding right in front of me or on a stair case not even remotely close. shit gets me killed more than anything as a wizard

@iron wigeon your suggestion regarding traps... you can crouch under 90% of the spear traps i've seen and you can jump over the floor traps that block hallways if your move speed is fast enough
If there is one and only one thing I would want added to this game it's for spells to function like shooting bows. Press right click once and the spell auto casts once the timer finishes or hold to release when you want to. It would be such a huge quality of life improvement for quick spells like invis and magic missile. But would still be really nice for every other spell.

Yeah, having to split your party to extract really cuts a lot of the fun out. It makes me feel like I have to either compete with friends to find a portal first or have a whole discussion about who should get out first. Or we spend time trying to guard portals while we find others.

Hey, love the game so far! I've seen lots of people refer to this game as "medieval tarkov" due to the difficulty, etc. and i think that's what has drawn a lot of us in. After a while i had a round where the final storm ended up killing me (seems like it does after a certain amount of time to end that dungeon level). Obvs that sucked but that's fine, go again. But it got me thinking maybe there's another way to push players either to fight and die, go down further or leave without the storm fully closing and killing players. Obvs can't let em stay forever but think forcing players deeper into the dungeon would be cooler than dying to time

Remove Death Swarm. It's unnecessary.
Players will already gravitate towards the center, down/escape portals spawn there.
Players will already fight, you don't need to force them together to do it.
If they need to make more audio queues for portals/make items that help guide you towards one that's fine. But the circle is just not needed.
I feel like there are too many chests, would be nicer if there were alot less chests, but way better loot in them so that there is less spam opening chests constantly for 2 leather hats
I think the deathswarm makes sense as a gameplay design mechanic and is somewhat integral to the game. I think that it could likely be slower, do less damage, and be better to exist in visually, but it is necessary as a mechanic in general.
dnd is a game that generally has minimal/limited healing, and people staying in the zone forever would be pretty unrealistic to happen at a problematic frequency. I do also think that more blue portals at least slightly should spawn in the swarm after/as it closes completely.
I also think the instant death mechanic is unnecessary for the same reason.
Also kinda random but the 1 thing that really needs sound design improvements is player movement/steps. But sound design is a hard thing for any game to do well (especially one from a small development team).
tacking on to Kbryants suggestion. Filter would be nice for trade chat but it would also be nice if it would only let you link the appropriate items in chat so only armor can be in the armor channel and so on
Been playing the Cleric for all of the playtesting and one thing stands out. The hit boxes for landing heals/buffs are very small, it is very easy to heal the wrong target. (i.e. skelly ai, enemy player ect.) I understand that it is part of the skill base needed to be a good Cleric, but maybe there could be a skill or talent that aids in more accurate casting. +3% friendly hit boxes for buff only spells? Something like that. This could also tie into equipment buffs as well.

I've been wondering why there isn't a guaranteed 3 man escape portal spawning in during the last circle around the center of it. It'd act as encouragement for groups to stick around as 3 (instead of dropping people slowly every time and having 1 or 2 wait to see their teammates fate) and engage in more exciting PvP as the circle closes.

@plucky drum I mean you're literally carrying a metal heavy sword, it would be hard running with something like that so I don't think the slow is that much of an issue
Maybe I didn't write this correctly, my meaning is that when you swing any weapon you are immediately slowed on the startup of the attack which makes it so you miss swings if you don't compensate for this. Overall this feels clunky and frustrating, weapons (especially heavier ones) should have a long recovery time after the swing which should be easily punishable on a miss. To be clear I want the SAME amount of time to swing we currently have but I want the slowdown afflicting your character shifted to after the swing not the startup .EX: Felling Axe.

Dunno if it ever happened to anyone... But I just ran for full 2 minutes around the map as a barb, destroying all doors went through at least 40% of the map in that time, not a single blue or red portal. It would be amazing if we can have more portal spawns towards the ring or in closer proximity, not next to spawn places at the edge of maps..

Unless you are a Rogue, I feel solo'ing in this game is very difficult. If you are playing a rogue its hella easy to make money etc etc. but if you are a say Wizard or Ranger and you come against a rogue you will likely die right away
Not if you outplay them, or just depends who you go against but yes i'll agree it is more difficult but then again if you are soloing each character should have a different playstyle, ranger should play more slow with taking shots far range and not rushing it placing traps, yet with wizard i'd say its way more difficult
This game is garbage solo. It is impossible to win against 3-man parties that have even a little experience. If a solo queue isn't added, this game will be dead on arrival. There is nothing to discuss here. @cyan gull I play solo fine on my rogue. It's still a terrible experience.

The pickpocket perk is way too slow, its should almost be instant, otherwise its never valuable. Or make it so one can choose what to steal
I've added a suggestion that I hope the devs look at. I vaguely agree with you, but I don't think all solo lobbies is the answer. This will lead to longer queue times and I really like how quickly you get into games.
If you're insistent on playing solo instead of random queueing with other solo players then I strongly disagree. I think the group play is what makes this game fun, but I also like the challenge of running solo and getting the blood pumping trying to wipe a group of 2 or 3 or trying run away from them

1vx is very doable. it just depends on what you're facing. for example, as a barbarian, I usually do very well or sometimes win a 1v3 against a combination of fighters, barbarians, rogues or clerics. a combination of a wizard, a ranger and a fighter on the other hand is very problematic because ranged counters barbarians hard. you also need to always prepare well before trying, and always try and solo 1 guy out, take 3 1v1s not all at the same time.
should there be dmg indicators like in fps games (kinda, not exactly like there) so we know if we hit someone and how much dmg we dalt?
i noticed a problem if you get disconnected and click the rejoin button, it puts you to character select instead of loading in. Would be nice if that would be fixed. 🙂 haha
I think there should 100% be a solo que option. If you want to have a challenge and que solo into 2/3 man lobbies then that should be an option as well. But grouping all 3/2's with solo into just one que is lame and will lead to new players quitting faster
The only counterpoint to this that I can think of is higher que times, but if the game is popular enough on release then that shouldnt be a problem

That might work, but I could see people farming the PvE level and developing bad habits, and once they feel 'comfortable' entering PvP they need to relearn the game now that players are involved. Kinda like how playing a fps vs bots is very different vs players.

Someone probably said this many times already, but I think we should be able to transfer items between our own characters freely and quickly, maybe just have both personal(each char) and shared storage(all chars). Using trade post or dropping items in dungeons with the help of friends is just unnecessary complication that costs us time and by extension takes away from the fun. But maybe i'm wrong.

In the old map it would be the top of the structure, in the maze it would be middle of it, in the round middle map it could be next to the center of the room

Undoubtedly the nature and amount of the bonus would have to be tested and worked on. (too much and ppl will feel cheated, too little and noone cares).
about the brightness thing posted a couple hours ago... I know it can be used to cheat and see even in the dark, but the slider of brightness should be available for everyone, there is people like me that have an old lcd monitor (not even led) and everything is dark even when i max the brightness out. I even compared it with some friend and they dont have any trouble seeing things that for me are pure black. So yeah... darkness can be cheated? sure... but not everyone uses it for cheating.

There is a stat called magical interaction speed. This should definitely be higher for wizard and cleric and should apply to opening portals
I will admit my suggestion to remove portal collisions was a bad idea lol. However, we should be able to slowly push enemies like someone mentioned earlier. A few spiders and a skeleton should not body block portals

I think we should be able to see portals on the map. There is so many times were I die because I could not find a portal and the swarm gets me. I also would like if they would spread out the portal spawns. It's probebly coded were they spawn randomly but if it's not I think it would be amazing to have blue portals spread out more and to have blue portals shown on the mini map, and it might be a good idea I don't know to add a full map, I don't think that would be that important and might ruin the game.
Is there any way we can keep the red skeletons from store? since its a bit of a achievement to get them in the beta testing.. would be cool as an exclusive for people who were a part of the testing periods!! 😄

Feedback from a 50 year old gamer who plays with his 52 year old wife and his 58 year old brother. We are old time gamers, been mmoing from the beginning and love pvping. Keep up the hardcore difficulty of the game intact. But, please for the love of god. On the non high roller version of the dungeons (eg noob dungeons), if our old asses manage to kill you kids and get to the middle of the dungeon, please give us more that 1 or 2 blue portals to get out. It sucks for all three of us to actually make it to the end of the dungeon and not have a way to leave together. This usually means I wind up dying. My wife gets the first blue portal (cleric). My brother or friend gets the 2nd portal, if we find one and I'm stuck with the 3rd portal which almost never find. Of if you want to funnel us to the 3rd level as a group, give us an out down there if we survive for a few minutes. When you get old, you will understand :). Love the game thanks for this, best idea i've played in the last 20 years.

I didn't play the first playtest where each portal was a 3-person portal. But I agree with this. I've died a few times just because a portal didn't spawn in time for all 3 of us. A few ideas on this. 1 - Make it a 3-person portal, but locked to the party of the first player to enter. This can keep the whole "wait for someone to spawn it and then steal" vibe. 2 - just revert to "any 3 people can go into the portal".

For the love of god, please nerf nuke the Centaur or remove it completely, me and my brother got door camped from the first room by one and even tho we shot it about 30-40+ times via cheese mechanic through the door it still ended up taking too long to kill and killing us as we had to open the door to escape...
I would like to suggest the ability for the party host to also be able to ready up. The other members can't see if they are ready like we are, it would be a huge qol thing.

something interesting happened guys. I built my fighter to be fully built into magic res and tanky because wizards were nuking me with fireballs. Even with almost every single piece of gear on my build having magic res and blue quality I got one shotted by a default wizard with a grey staff while I was around 75% HP.. so magic res stat seems to be not so good lol
@quaint yarrow there are portals that spawn in within 5 minutes of the game, so saying there isn't a way for people to escape early with"low risk" is pretty ignorant... And a built up stash for new players? There's literally gray and white gear in the vendors for little gold.
And I also see you talking about 3 man portals, I'm not the devs but it's an obvious balance design to "nerf" trios. Again as I said above there are portals that spawn early, in trios people need to start realizing that one person might have to extract early leaving the other two. I personally haven't found many instances where I haven't been able to get a portal out unless I'm playing trios and even then I would say most of the time we all get out pretty easily, rarely we take the red portals if we can't find blue portals and then get out in there. I mainly play duos, some trios and some solo

Regarding "balancing against trios" and 3-man portals, matchmaking seems a better solution to that than the current portal design.

I really like this game but combat feels kind of clunky. People are comparing it to mordhau but it is nothing like mordhau at all. Sure your weapons actually have physical space and collision but that’s it. Most fights it’s been more effective for me to swing and hope I do more damage than the other enemy who’s glued to me as I try to back pedal for space but they just push themselves into my chest.
The life of the bosses should have a bar to see how much is left to kill him

I love how this is getting down votes, I play mage and can wipe lobbies solo. Haste, ignite, then invis and with a decent dagger you can 2-3 tap fighters and barbs. Nerf the classes I don't play, buff whichever one I'm playing, add a feature to allow new players to have full purple gear 15 minutes after playing for the first time, fix the bug where other players can kill me and allow me to summon a 3 man blue portal as soon as I decide I want to, with these small fixes I think this could be the greatest game of all time but as it stands I will only buy one copy on release instead of 15.

Rogue stealth and wizard are completely different concepts on how you're describing the problem as. @pearl spade They can't really "hide" with them or be an ambush predator like rogue. They're used for evasion and juking which can fail since you still can easily hear their footsteps as they move. @pearl spade And yeah, they don't really need a buff nor do alot of classes admittedly. I think barbarian would be the only one i'd want with more gimmicks than anything, maybe abit more cleric interaction speed since it's beyond awful.
Most people who are suggesting to not have a solo queue are usually people who never play any game solo because they are always running in groups because their not good on their own.
Simply making the wizard not have to use a perk to use spell slots makes plenty of sense and not a buff, if a wizard takes meditation and intense focus they literally cannot use spells and are no longer a wizard which does not make sense, you are forced to take at least one of the spell slot perks otherwise you are a glorified hobo with a bad melee weapon
This game needs a solo / duo queue, escape from tarkov suffers from this which alienates the majority of players globally. It doesn't even have random matchmaking like most games which require a team to play. Lets be honest though even that is not the greatest experience because you have to depend on randoms and hope that they are actually good at the game.
Stealth is stealth. The fact you can even run in invisibility from a Wizard is wild. Having a speed boost and stealth in the same kit (literally every wizard) is a bit much. Yes, barbs need a better gimmick. I think Cleric is pretty safe right now as it plays really well with others.
It does play really well with others, but that door open speed is nasty. If the devs want to nerf invisability they can always move it up in spell-tier cost if it's so powerful. But right now, wizards need it. It's the only way they can be practical alongside haste. If i had rogue stealth on wizard i'd be beyond happy. Your argument was that it undermines the rogue ability. It doesn't, both have different purposes.

Personally think they should have at small stash in the waiting room that you can bring back at least half of the loot collected in floor 1. It'd free up some space and make it hurt less when delving deeper and almost inevitably dying.
Well, while i'd like the idea of a small vendor stall being setup in the waiting room. Sooner you enter, more time you have to buy i feel it'd make it abit too easy. The idea of descending further into the dungeon is the risk/reward factor that's involved. More danger and delving into the unknown /Don't know what map you're getting below/. It makes preparation that much more crucial. Before the adventure starts, you're having to say "We're going for red" and prepare accordingly. Honestly i'm 50/50 on being able to store away abit of your loot. But perhaps when they add a backpack you can carry around with more storage it'll be less of a hassle. @icy finch
I'm fine with hell, as a solo it's not very difficult if you know your way around and how to deal with mobs. i do think that the circle moves too fast not leaving you enough time to loot at all because you're more worried about getting into the circle, also it makes bosses impossible to do solo, I tried and got close to killing lich king but the lame circle won't let me kill him let alone loot anything there. Also some of the end portals that can spawn in the boss room are bullshit, from the ghost boss its literally impossible to open a portal if it spawns in his room, because he teleports on you and then spams aoe attacks constantly. Also one of my main issues when going down to hell is by the time I find a portal on level 2 my inventory is full of loot, so like you said, there is no point for me to go down anymore

I love solo but i can't kill the last boss solo 😦 and this lead to me not going there and having a stash full of cash and purple. Now i have no reason to use that purple gear since even if i go in only for pvp i can't even keep or use the purple i get from killing player for my next run. If i sell it i also have no more space. I only keep what i need. No hording

Either let us pick what direction we swing our sword, or make enemy swords collide. There should be no reason why we cant slash something because our dagger wants to smack a wall thats behind my view 24/7, yet enemy can 360 swing through 4 walls to hurt you if they want to

The shield feels like shite to use and having your first swing always be overhead on certain weapons cucks you in short rooms . I much prefer mordhau melee to this games system as it allows for alot more blocking and skill expression

thats quite easy to fix, you restrict the animations/mouse to a maximum amount of degrees per second of turning. also no1 is going to be spinning in this game becuase u would just hit the walls, its all super close quarters indoors
I actually really like the melee combat but I can see the frustration behind it, it does feel clunky at times, but once you get used to it its pretty fun. Hard to practice though when 90% of your time is spent fighting skeletons, maybe some arena mode would be cool
Shielding feels horrible that’s my only complaint, mordhau parrying feels much cleaner There is no scenario where I would go for a parry/block. over walking backwards due to how clunky the shields feel to use (especially considering enemies can swing through solid walls for some reason)
Unlike chivalry/mordhau the focus of this game isn't melee combat and having the same combat there would never work here, the combat is suppose to be easy to learn but hard to master (which it is right now) opposed to chivalry combat that's pretty hard to learn and even harder to master

@iron wigeon Hey brother just a quick tip I found. You can dodge archers somewhat easily if you just strafe left hard and jump when they shoot then immediately strafe right and do the same. Then you have a 1-2 second window to move up or shoot back. If they do the double shot just keep strafing in that direction for both shots instead of one. Its not perfect but it has made fighting archers much easier.
counter arguement, chiv 2 combat is really easy to learn and have fun with, i dont need all the nuance of it, just a basic parry mechanic to make combat more engaging would be all i want

Skill expression isn't bad necessarily but with chivalry type combat a new player literally doesn't stand a chance vs an experienced player. Whereas in this game the only advantage an experienced player has is learning good footwork and knowing attack patterns and drags.
Regardless this whole argument is pointless because combat as clean and good as in chivalry is something that takes an experienced AAA team and years of polish, they cant just magically code it in

The problem people seem to have with this game's combat is that you're not really given many explicit mechanics for defense. Relatively few classes have access to shields, so you're left with pretty weird hitbox manipulation. Flailing your camera around to whip your torso out of the way of a swing doesn't feel very good, and ironically that's exactly what makes games like Chivalry and Mordhau so hard to get into; mechanics like parries and chambers are fairly easy to understand, where as drags and accesls are EXTRMELY esoteric to modern design sensibilities

Shield is kinda bad I agree. parry would literally ruin this game. it would do the opposite the effect you guys want, melee fights would be 10x as long and because of that people won't bother playing melee and just play rangers/wizards

from an outsider perspective, ranger is pretty dumb at the moment. wizard seems like the only interesting class.
one of the best parts of this game is that party composition and formation is such an important concept. Environments tend to be small and cramped, different classes have wildly different move speeds and comfortable engagement ranges. These factors clash with the game's PvP combat in many ways, the most widespread example being rogues who can simply outpace you feeling like an inescapable DPS check. Spacing and backpedaling being one of your only universal defensive mechanics doesn't really work once you have some players moving far far quicker than others.
Maybe a dedicated melee class should instantly win most fights where they get in touching distance of a caster, maybe that's a legitimate design choice, but it certainly doesn't feel very nice to be on the receiving end of a shanking with literally no mechanics at your disposal outside of waving your mouse up and down hoping manipulate your hitbox out of the way
If you play a ranger wizard and you let someone get all in your face, honestly a skill issue

There are TONS of ways to avoid these long protracted melee duels. When people say "combat like chiv" they don't necessarily mean a copy pasted combat system. The idea fundamentally is that you can actually do something about a guy who's swinging a sword at you, that there is more interaction between players aside from just DPS checks and backpedaling.
Systems like stamina or cooldowns on parries/dodges etc. inherently limit the risk of combat turning into a reaction time contest. The idea that there's NO MIDDLE GROUND between what we currently have and a more engaging fair-feeling system seems pretty short-sighted
I haven't had to many issues with using traps as ranger - (Pre set up) and Frost with wizard for rogues. Does help etc, not fight winning.
The combat isnt dps check at all though. Theres literally so many ways to outplay someone, and even if you don't use any of those ways and just hash it out in a duel, good footwork will let you win any fight

If the only response people have is "there are counters" or "git gud" I think we're totally missing the point.
Not everything is a question of whether or not it's fair, sometimes the question is whether or not it's the most fun or engaging way a system can be designed. IT'S TOTALLY POSSIBLE that a game can be simultaneously balanced and hinge on skill-based elements while still being pretty dreadful and unfair feeling. Saying "well technically you can leverage advantages elsewhere" maybe true, but it's also a dreadfully gamerbrained take lol. PvP games should generally strive both to be balanced and engaging.
If the overwhelming feeling people walk away with is that there was very little they could do better in a fight, true or not, that's something that should be considered. Player psychology is a MASSIVE pillar of good design.
Clearly we think that Chiv combat would be unfitted for the game, unrewarding, problematic etc., yet I doubt we think that Chiv is UNBALANCED.
This should be a pretty easy springboard to the idea that these two concepts are fundamentally distinct. When somebody expresses a feeling of hopelessness, that the combat is a "DPS check", this is an inherently emotional subjective expression about how the game FEELS to play.
Chiv might FEEL like a slog, and going "skill issue" doesn't change that for people
also a player with 5k hours should destroy a new player. if the new player stood a chance, that would make zero sense.

I personally think its very fun, yes. Obviously there's improvements to be made but the point you guys are missing is that melee combat isn't the focus of this game at all, its such a small part of it and 99% of fights aren't decided in a 1v1 duel anyways, there's always teammates or environments at play, or potions, traps, other consumables, mind games, so many little things, the only reason I could see more "chivalry" type features being good is in a solo mode, but the game is balanced around parties and not solo. And you can't compare it to chivalry whatsoever when chivalry doesn't have wizards, clerics, rangers, or even perks and different gear

The learning curve is footwork and spacing, idk why thats hard to understand. Thats why rogues are so good at melee and why barbs are easy to kite, because you can easily walk out of their attacks. It really seems like you just dont know how to space properly so you're here complaining and asking for a parry. Imagine playing as a fighter and you chase a pesky wizard for 5 minutes, you finally catch up and he just whips out a sword and parries all your attacks and runs away again. Like.. having parrying would legit make dedicated melee fighters absolutely useless up close

i feel like the possibility of escape went from a good balance of risk/reward, to more frustrating and unsatisfying, with the portal changes. definitely having less fun trying to gear up this testing period.

What do you mean? Sometimes there aren’t enough portals available. It’s not a good system. “Git gud” doesn’t apply here. In Tarkov if we get to the “portal” and survive the environment we get out. Imagine wandering around on Woods looking for extracts that are in different spots every time. It sucks.

Spacing and footwork do not affect what people find unpleasant about the combat. If somebody is in touching distance and they are faster than you it induces a feeling of hopelessness to have zero defensive options aside from hitbox manip. It's all fine and good to say "cope, you die to DPS check rogue because that's how the game works", but this position comes purely from a place of conservative thought; that which is should remain simply because it currently exists.
The tactical elements of a fight break down once somebody is already in your face, you can't stop to lay a trap, you can't backpedal, you can't cast, all you can do is wiggle your torso and hope you can out DPS the guy who's shanking you.

Portals popped sooner and seemed to be distributed better based on player movement, so you had a better shot of finding an exit. Also, 3-player blue portals spawned at the end. There were more blue portals, too. Overall still risky and heart-pounding and good fights, but you felt like you actually had a shot at getting out. You could choose whether to leave or go down with your team. As a solo you could sneak around and maybe have a shot at exiting.
If someone is in your face and they are faster than you they are either a rogue or someone with haste. Obviously if someone is faster than you your spacing is gonna be messed up.. Thats the whole point, movespeed is a huge part of this game, you can't expect to pick a fighter, be a literal tank but also be able to dodge shit easily, you either block or tank the hits and try to kill them first, which in that case yes its a dps check but you're discussing a problem with fighters rather than a problem with the combat.
The only defensive option should be a shield, which I agreed feels bad and isnt reliable because a lot of weapons swing from the leftside and very easily get around the shield. But again parrying would literally ruin the combat because you're not factoring in how that affects other classes at all. Yes there's improvements to be made, parrying aint it. Im also not anti chiv at all as I have hundred in hours in chiv and mordhau

I've played fighter for a total of like 3 matches so I definitely don't see how this is fighter-related at all.
You seem to say that improvements can be made, but then double back onto "Shields should be the only defensive option, and it's fine that they feel bad", I can't really tell if you're actually okay with the game changing at all lol
Parrying doesn't mean an infinite right click reaction time fest, the concept of a parry can be any number of things. The idea that ANY FORM of universal defensive option in melee combat would "ruin the combat" just seems like an anti-chiv thing, maybe especially due to your familiarity with that type of implementation
Some kind of universally accessible back-and-forth mechanic for melee combat would positively impact the feel of combat for all classes, balancing it to be fun and interesting is certainly a challenge but "do nothing lol" is equally problematic
even minecraft gave melee hits a knockback so atleast you can disengage from someone being up in your face. unless u were hit against a corner, then u were kinda screwed

And again, while back and forth would definitely feel more fun, it would make melee worthless. Right now melee is extremely dangerous because you die very quickly, so a lot of the time your best strategy is to avoid melee altogether unless you get the jump on them. But if you had some back and forth mechanic like parrying, melee wouldn't be so dangerous and melee classes would lose a lot of their advantages

We have opted for a static VC system to curb that lag, and are currently at the hard cap for channels in the server. With 350 Party channels each supporting up to 3 players, this gives us official capacity for slightly over 1,000 individual players at any given time. Beyond that, players can use our LFG channels to coordinate private VCs should they wish to do so 💎⛏

If you could parry once every... 4 seconds or whatever, this isn't going to DESTROY combat any more than a shield pot DESTROYS combat because it changes the balance of an encounter. Adding a push mechanic w/ a cooldown, adding a dash/dodge etc. isn't going to make melee WORTHLESS. Melee is not WORTHLESS if it gets counterplay, I really just can't wrap my head around how you're getting to this conclusion.

It gets WORTHLESS because at that point while you're in a 5 minute back and forth melee fight you're just gonna get fireballed from behind you or sniped by a ranger which is what you're failing to understand, melee isnt the focus of the game and if you prolong melee fights other options become 10x as viable

I agree with that, but I feel like the circle is not the way to go. Circle are meant for fast-paced, PvP games.
This is a PvPvE game with slow-paced combat. a better solution I find would be making monsters stronger/more plentiful over time.
You can try and stay longer in the dungeon to loot more, but it becomes very risky and lowers your change to survive until a portal.
Just as they try to link the circle to the lore, this idea can also be linked to lure by making the dungeon get "angrier" as intruders are looting and killing their monsters.
After getting to play this game for the first time this test I feel like players have too much agency in approaching other players at the beginning of the game. If you have the option to bum rush another players spawn then it's the only play that makes any sense. Makes the game feel more like a pvp free for all with tiny bits of dungeon crawler stuff in your way. I think that you shouldn't be able to get to another players spawn point so easily.
Has anyone said anything along the lines of vision adjusting to different lighting levels? can see a bit better in dark after awhile and sudden light is extremely bright. Then obviously the opposite.
Yes, this a good idea! There is no need for this game to simply copy a mechanic from other games that do not fit it, it should create a system designed to fit with its core gameplay.

I don't think the picture in your mind is really what I'm advocating for, nor what most people are when they say "chiv like combat". I don't think standing in front of a guy infinitely right clicking his attacks away would be good, we probably agree there, but you seem to think that ANYTHING outside of a buffed version of shields would turn into that, and that's where I think the disconnect is happening.
As to the melee vs ranged point, this doesn't actually sound problematic to me? The situation you're describing is one where a balanced team composition carves out a role for all sorts of classes. Ranged classes already sit back and poke during combat, melee characters getting to have a good time while this happens wouldn't make playing them worse, it would make playing them better.
Formation and friendly fire plays a huge role in what compositions are viable in this game. Too many melee players and you may not be able to participate in a fight given a small hallway. Ranged classes have to be careful not to hit their own teammates etc.
Further, a team with multiple melee players could overwhelm a single melee opponent quickly and move on to their ranged support. In the event that the enemy has no melee fighters, melee still has an advantage once they close the gap.
Melee classes can be given greater access to defensive abilities, with ranged given fewer options/longer cooldowns etc., there's always a balance to be struck.
I understand enjoying the game as it is and being worried that any changes would harm that enjoyment, but I think that along with the impression that Chiv has left you seems to be keeping your view of potential solutions a little constrained

For sure, but generally those games tend to favor defense until the higher skill levels, so an average duel will have a lot of stalling out until somebody just makes a minor mistake.
There's an extremely good argument against a copy-paste of chiv/mordhau because this game has to many factors like tight spaces, PvE, team fights, and perhaps most importantly the darkness from its namesake that would make reading small nuances in swing animations sort of a disaster
There's a huge gap between "move one step closer to chiv" and "become a chiv custom mode"

I get that the circle is necessary to avoid people creeping around forever, but could we loosen that up? I don't always have time to clear rooms and often times the circle cuts off the ability to take a detour to avoid either a nasty monster I'm in no position to fight or an enemy party I can't fight. I feel like a slower circle would still pressure people but also let people progress at a slower pace.

they basically can't hit you as long as you're backpedaling, so they're not much of a threat on their own. Unless there are other mobs around you can just backpedal and chip away at them.
That said, both ranged classes clear their nests super easy, and melee classes can carry throwing weapons specifically for their pots

I have seen posts where people says that they dont want the game to be balanced for solos, but heck i dont care if the game is focused on trios balance, i can understand that part, but it feels bad how people disagrees in something that we are asking as solo players that wont change their gameplay as squads

I have many reasons. I’m actually a solo with 50hrs playtime.
It would split the player base meaning slower que times.
They would need to go out of their way to rework the characters since they are balanced for trio play mainly (which would take a lot of work)
It would change the flow of the game,
you would no longer encounter and have to adapt to those situations where you find a trio/duo (which i personally enjoy) ,
And lastly the game is very much durable even now as a solo- people just don’t seem to want to learn nor change up their gameplay/playstyle
That’s just my opinion though, I enjoy the game as it is now. Never had a problem against trios

Stealth needs tweaking - enemies shouldn't re agro after hide buffs de-activate. plus enemies should either patrol or return to their spawn area.
being unable to break barrels/wooden crates in a reasonable time as a rogue, wizard and starter ranger puts a stronger focus on hunting players for loot. have certain weapons do extra damage against breakables, or a perk/skill to interact with objects to break them?
Make de hide more obvious - flash of light, unique noise etc or the first few footsteps are extra loud?
change how stealth perk works - instead of x steps, it reduces by ~1 second for each x moved.
Spell casts should be interrupted when taking damage, feels cheap to rush a mage and be killed by magic missile, Same with cleric - hitting a cleric before they cast holy purification would lead to funny hijinks.
Option to turn off party invites (like discord busy). sometimes I just wanna solo basic rogue.
Floor traps should have a short delay to quickly cross over.
Breakable objects are randomly placed to avoid camp spots.

Spell cast should definitely not be interrupted a Wizard would barely be viable at all if that was the case. If they even really implement this there needs to be traits in the leveling tree that prevent interruptions.
Not just with Stealth but it should be the same case with invisible potion, now that’s what makes solo experience cancer sometimes for me

Rush to middle of map, throw some hunting traps down and I win against trios. Very human.
Also I just use it with gear I buy. You just need headshots. Sometimes 3 shots at most except for heavily armored fighters or shielded.

yeah, just a little annoying on the wizard with it actually consuming spells for the game, and being limited to time/having to spend gold for high roller just to test for 30 seconds isn't the best. I'm hoping it wouldn't be too difficult to just let us host an instance of the inn, can even be player hosted so it wouldn't effect the servers

I just hope Team matchmade dont be just a mess with friendly fire, imagine getting q with 2 random dudes in really high gear highrollers that just stabs you and steals your stuff, The only thing i can think to fix that will be a PK Stat that can be seen to other players, or any kind of punishment, if that gets done, good.
I just want the game give players tools to play as they want , just to maintain a bigger playerbase, q's will be longer if the game cant hold casuals and solo players too, if they want to focus in team playstyle, just remove solos and force team matchmade then, with it respective fixes like PK etc.

Actually one of the main reasons I don’t play trios is because of friendly fire, now I wouldn’t go that far to say they should remove it because I don’t like it , I’m just a retard and I always manage to hit my team accidentally Altho I’ve never seen nor heard anyone kill their teammate for their loot! If you have such a good gear why would you even que with a random? But yeah perhaps a PK thing could work if they kill you, but I don’t really have a take on this tbh
Yeah, something like that needs to be implemented if they implement that. If not it feels like Wizard will just get bodied by a melee character. Which is fair to a level but, the Wizard should have some chance to at least escape.

Yeah, as of right now the only spell that you can almost make instant is invisibility but, you just get hit out of it half the time. You can barely escape with that. So having it interrupted before even casting just makes it harder.

With how limited your stash space is I feel like it'd be better if gold wasn't an actual inventory item.
haste is an escape spell, invis isn't (imo) it's slightly better than rogues hide. i'm not the mage in our group, but invis for ambush/surprise attacks as a trio or to hide or reposition as a solo.
maybe the game needs subclasses too that change abilities etc on top of perks and skills?
it's difficult to speculate when DnD is incomplete (skill leveling, weight etc).

Yeah, but you can't cast Haste in like .5secs like you can With invisibility. It's much more of an immediate get away the Haste is definitely better for it though.

The escape portals are way hard to get into, if a skeleton is inside it and one side is blocked by the rune its just impossible to get away

For whoever made the suggestion for an FOV slider, while generally I'd agree, on competitive games there's the definite issue that having FOV cranked to max is just the best way to play because it's just free information if you're able to deal with the visual distortion (although that can be alleviated by a different projection type). Basically, it can lead to anything but max FOV being less optimal, or just a worse way to play due to reduced information.

We got magic in the game, it ain't really about realism, for now, Ranger is too strong, Game balance and fun, to some extent, should come before realism, torches never run out.

It’s keeping their mechanic instead of removing it. It’s not wrong they’re pretty powerful but you get shot multiple times in the head by a recurve/longbow, 2-3 times, you’d be pretty stunned
either way. its a bit much and the fact it slows you down MID AIR. is fucked. and a bow that does 20 damage slows you down to a stop. The whole ordeal is fucked. If you want to slow someone down. Lay the hunting trap or bind them as a cleric. Movement is slow as slug sex anyways. Literally ZERO reason to have bows slow you down too

Fighter has the spear. As a fighter the longbow and longsword combo with heavy armor is pretty goated. Even against a spear wielding Ranger.

Plus rangers get more damage with the spear. And a fighter moves so slow with armor. Back to the original issue. If you get shot once, you cant move. and if they damage you they have a dps advantage in the melee. They should NOT be able to 1v1 a fighter and win

Because different classes have different strengths. A ranger should have the upper hand if they get you at range but a fighter should if they manage to close the distance.

The way I see it making the most sense
Melee combat: Rangers < Fighters < Barbarians
Ranged combat: Rangers > Fighters > Barbarians
Well fighters are gear dependent. They’re essentially the wild card. They could go toe to toe with the Ranger or Barb using their own gear with even heavier armor. The skills and perks matter a lot

The circle has such low dmg output compared to any other game that does it, at worst it’s just a deterrent and not actually meant to kill the player for staying in it to long
