From what I understand, you will get the bonus for both swords equipped. If you choose to equip an off hand sword and main hand dagger you will still get +2 damage on the dagger attacks. The opposite is also true with off handing a dagger.

Looted means it was spawned and found in the dungeon. Handled means it was bought or traded. So if you can’t turn in that campfire either 1. You bought it making it handled. Or 2. Someone else bought it and brought it into the dungeon making it handled. Then you found it.
