Could be a firewall issue. If you're comfortable doing it try disabling your firewall briefly and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't you probably need to change some firewall settings so you can play while it is on.

I do hope something comes about. I definitely understand it may be easier to catch cheaters with this system, but it is definitely not sustainable. And I'm sure others, like myself, have certain connections to names and use them to live out a character fantasy or at least in a way to connect to their character. Something like using your steam name would be wonderful.
