Thank you.
@whole sluice I don't remember from playing but do player stats show your actual damage based off your weapon? For example: Rogue has a 13dmg dagger and you equip the bonus damage perk with daggers. Will your stats show this information? If not, do you know if they will add this feature?
if you hit the button to expand your stats it would show your damage with str+other mods same with defense and a bunch of other stats like use speed movement speed ect
reading the stats dident seem that usefull to me but hitting the dummy did
Where was there a dummy? I wasn't even aware this was a thing
in the bar befor the match started there is a dummy in the basement
^
it was rare to have enough time in a lobby to actually USE the dummy, but it was there lol
Its next to Yolorages Dagger
Anyone figure out the conditions for 100% silent footsteps? Apparently wiz without boots + shift walk = 100% silent
is there a way to change spells on cleric?
Doubtful, it's most likely lightfoot boots. They were the quietest by far. Meat slaps aren't that quiet
I believe it did, but didn't document stats until later in and I was rushed with other stuff. I do believe it took all your passives though
The worst part is they honestly might be sometimes
Not yet but the devs are going to implement more spells for the wizard and cleric so spell swapping will definitely come in the future.
Will non-spellcaster classes get some extra skills/abilities to compensate for the fact that magic casters get effectively 7 abilities VS the "martial" two?
I doubt that will happen as the entire selling point of caster classes is that they sacrifice melee pvp for well 'casting' abilities.
Possible "single use spell scrolls" for other classes to use. Via the QnA on reddit
Oh yes, I forgot they mentioned those.
Anyone have a list of every current weapon?
And additionally, does it depend on the order you cast/use them in?
The website is very incomplete but you can still find some information on certain things.
Why not sell early access to the game? im tired of waiting for it to come back, it was honestly fine the way it was.
so they dont have to maintain live servers 24/7 during development. its a pretty simple concept. servers don't appear out of thin air and maintain themselves from a software and hardware perspective.
Paid EA coming April 2023, we just gotta wait.
I understand its not free hence the paid option to buy into early access like Marauders did. With how popular the game is they would make thousands if not millions letting us play early... in turn paying for servers and more development...
April 2023 is so far away... 🥺
Has the playtest date been announced yet?
soon
Do it fart?
can i still join the playtest...
are the rankings, accs and items deleted
For the next playtest, are we going to need to reinstall the game in our Steam game list? Or can we leave it as it was left after the last test?
what is the B1 map theme supposed to be anyone know?
i cant play at all next play test. how do i cope
how does one join playtest
when the next playtest becomes active just request access on their steam page and you will get in :)
oh ok thank you
What can we expect for Playtest #3 and what is the team aiming for for the testing so we can help better ? I would like to have some guidance on that if there is elements you could encourage us to explore or try and see if we find any issues to help the team.
I asked what the goals were for the next playtest (focus on bugs, player volume, class balance, etc) and I was told 'all of the above'
Oh
How is Dark and Darker being funded? Is there a patreon or something we can donate to?
I believe they are self-funded
I hope they open up a patreon, if only for donation purposes
So as per my question earlier is there gonna be any character customization and if so to what extent
They said they’re fully funded until launch so I don’t believe they want to collect any donations etc
For those interested, I did receive a response to my question, directly from Krapst, stating that they were "working on something soon".
The real question is.. how did they get fully funded for the game?
can i get the game now? u need my CC?
That’s a weird question, likely either an investor or self funded
Will the game have more time for each of the floors when all 3 are implemented? From what I saw the second floor only has 12 minutes, which to me and others I have discussed with seems a little short, would 20 minutes not be a better alternative?
Will we be made aware of the changes made from this playtest when the next playtest begins? Would very much love a changelog
When will we see the first level to the dungeon?
Crafting? Other playable races?
The races is what's got me stoked but also worried about an Oddjob situation... Dwarves are gonna be OP
idk, you can't really headshot with oddjob, you mostly went around karate chopping knees
anyone know if how much is the game when it comes out? or is it going to be free
I think this has been already discussed, will the rotation of objects in the inventory be implimented soon?
Playtests are free but the game won't be free to own when it releases.
Thank you
Anyone know if the style of the game is the one they are going for or is it just for testing and later will be changed into maybe a more stylised game?
This is their vision, just not fully fleshed out yet.
@whole sluice wraith can drop golden key?
any new additions to the game during next playtest?
Yes
what does the troubadour rank represet?
Any plans in increase the damage you take from the fire on the ground from molotovs, ect? Right now if someone molly's you off you can just run through it while taking minimal damage.
Also im curious if an insurance system similar to tarkovs where you can pay to insure your gear and if you die and no players extract with it it comes back in insurance has been considered?
secure container idea was answered with this: "It is more thrilling to lose everything when you die."
This is for the devs. What part of the game is your favorite/what gets you the most exicted about the game?
Have there or will there be a development stream? Would love to hear what devs are thinking about both community and the development
Using awesome spells in different ways to win/escape
the team is very small and they don't have any PR/HR people, the closest we have gotten and will probably continue to get to that, are the Q&A's and devs writing in discord
Aight, thanks for the info king
@whole sluice ur work on evolve 2 doesnt go unacknowledged daddy uwu
Holy hell do I miss that game 😄
I`ll remember this.
cough #3
were you #100 ?
I doubt it, but did anyone grab the base stats for the classes? I'm really interested in how much impact small stat changes have
speak to madcow he has the data u seek lol
@whole sluice Sorry for @ing you brother but I need you
Whats up?
Have you grabbed the base stats for the classes by chance
Yup
could you share
It'll be in the handbook coming out, along with a plethora of other stuff
Including stat gains etc..
https://darkanddarkerwiki.com/classes/ this one has screenshots with the starter gear
Awesome thanks @neat bramble and any ETA on that MaddCow?
sounds great I'm really looking forward to it
youre fine, sounds like its been a lot of work by itself considering its 37 pages
Doesn't help I'm a perfectionist either haha
is it just a word document or is it gonna be themed in some way?
Have you ever seen a D&D Player's Handbook?
yup, i was exactly wondering if it's gonna be same background & fonts etc
Ya something pretty similar
that's awesome
Is the announced playtest 100% correct in its time? Im asking because i want to take my vacation at work so i can focus on the game 🙂
well anything can happen but there's going to be a lot of angry individuals if they don't deliver xd
Does it usually start at 3:00am?
it opens up same time for everyone i think, it just happens to be 3 am for you
Yo are they partnering with streamers at all
Will literally drop my main game to play this fulltime
there's a "Partnered content creator" role on Discord, not sure what it entails though
Add voice proximity please, it would be the best thing ever#
Is there any difference between crouching and walking in terms of movementspeed, foodstepnoise etc?
Yes to all.
I don't believe so. If there is it is extremely minor
That was my impression too, did crouching instead of walking most of the time
I remapped shift to crouch 😊
Wait there's walking? :p
I thought you meant hitting W.
Thats kinda smart actually. If crouch and walking are the same, there is never any reason to walk. I do know you can stack walk and crouch, but I don't think it's really worth it. But never fully tested either
You run by default
The more you know.
Is the dev team prepared for this game to blow up? Do they have the operational means to scale with the oncoming popularity? Is there a roadmap that will be shared publicly at release or in Early Access?
Also, what is the proposed business model?
Things have gone pretty well considering the game has already seen a huge influx of players.
I'm just curious if they plan on fleshing the team out; content is key for growth.
pay-to-play and possible cosmetics like emotes, and skins etc.
Any mention of a battle pass system?
they're continously getting new people
no, and i doubt this studio would do something like that
Good, that's what I figured after reading their mission statement.
How long has this game been in development?
Sir Respectfully hopefully not! I’d rather have ridiculously hard quest and in game things to do for content than just paying for a battle-pass.
"We’ve seen first hand how corporate game companies sell their soul for the easy payday. We are disappointed to see them doubling down on more and more exploitative practices, becoming more like casinos instead of bringing joy to gamers." -Ironmace (website)
Beginning of the year
Seems we have nothing to worry about. 🙂
I had no idea this game was being developed by a Korean game studio, hats off to them! This game doesn't scream with the usual tropes of a Korean developed game. (e.g. cash shops, mindless grinding)
that's pretty insane... they built that much in the first 6 months or whenever the very first playtest was
Yup
They work like maniacs 😄
it sure helps if it's a real passion project.. i think some people there need to be forced to take vacations lol
"We are a merry band of veteran game developers disillusioned by the exploitative and greedy practices we once helped create. We are experts who have worked on many of the biggest hits in Korea." -Ironmace (website) I think they might know how to handle themselves. 🙂
hahah
or until they get their ear bitten off
Last question for me today: Is there a way we can donate to the team? So the community can pitch in for coffee or breakfast?
currently no, but might come in the future. it's just that they're fully funded atm and don't necessarily need donations
Anyone know?
they did it for previous playtest so i don't see why not
I lied, last last question: Should we ever expect a dev-to-community youtube series? (e.g. Warframe's DevStreams where they have actual dev members sit down and talk with the community -- sharing new ideas, topics, and answering questions?)
I'm fully funded and still appreciate a free coffee from time to time. 🙂
Maybe eventually. The big thing that people don't realize is that they had 0 marketing and were not expecting this many people to be aware of their product until it was a decent chunk of next year. I'm sure they have something like this as an idea, but weren't thinking of implementing it until after the original plan of early access and what not as it ramped to release. Because of the surge in popularity they are still trying to figure things out
Thanks, that makes perfect sense. I'll keep my fingers crossed, I always enjoy when a developer gets in front of their audience and talks about what they have planned for the future. Even if they're literally just reading off their own roadmap. (e.g. Capcom talking about Monster Hunter) 😎
Yeah, they are real cool and I don't foresee that not happening, just getting them ducks in a row 😄
So I have a selfish concern that north koria is acting up now. I know people dieing is bad but im a fat white american and I needs ma Game to come out on time. I hope the plan on expanding to an adishanl office perhaps in the USA. just playing around hope you guys are ok
Do you have any intention of occasional events?
Could be anything from "for the next 48 hours. Characters receive a random boon for the duration of their run" to "<specific type of monsters> have venomous attacks this week, use your best judgement when encountering then"
Or, all players have a 20% chance of self rezzing in the next bubble, once per run.
Will there be an announcement for what content will be added with the next playtest or what the devs want to focus on testing?
Is there a chase mechanic? Do you think it should be implemented to avoid bare-handed people with light armor from escaping?
last time they released some change notes right before the playtest. nothing about what they want to focus on. i assumed they wanted us to play the way we normally would so they get good data
@solemn ridge you can throw something at them. hitting them slows them down
Hello Earthlings
I'm a player from Taiwan, I don't know if there is a chance to produce traditional Chinese
There are quite a lot of Taiwanese players here. I hope to open Chinese discord text chat and future in-game culture
Thank you game companies and players from all over the world
Let's experience this wonderful game together❤️
they did mention wanting to focus on wizard/cleric aka spellcasting changes this time around
also my personal guess is to test out limited arrows and solo mode
there is a plan for Chinese chat i think. it's not implemented because there are no mods to moderate it.
no, you should be able to escape, or play like a rat
they even added a slow debuff when you are hit, that's way enough
No solo mode coming. But you have the right idea with wizards and clerics. They also said the full array of attributes will be in the game by next playtest and hopefully working correctly.
Did the different classes actually have different move speeds or is that all completely dictated by worn armor/weapons?
Agility stat
most classes had different base agility, some had skills/spells/perks that also boost
Is there a max movement speed? Do different classes have different max movement speeds?
yes
No and Not really. Different starting stats/gear make the difference
were any skills or abilities not used at all by anyone during this playtest?
doubt it, there's always people who want to test everything and gather data
I think purification was under-used over Judgement and smite for the Cleric
But in reality purification was very strong for PVE
But I honestly think Purification will either get more attention in a playtest where we start at level 1 instead of 2
Or even less
I think smite was probably the worst of the 3, not that it can't be useful, but it was the worst imo
Since to my understanding, the first level will be the culling of players, deeper you go the more PVE focused the runs become since there is less players to manage
Idk I have gotten plenty of kills attributed to my extra smite damage
Smite was pretty strong imo
Yeah, it meant one less hit to kill for me on average
Stronger than judgement?
Smite is the best of the three for pure damage in PvP.
But choosing between judgment and spellcasting, Judgment + spellcasting was favored for the heals and buffs
They did say the map was going to be bigger as well tho
Sorry yeah I was mostly going on the assumption you played cleric to be a pure support
I liked both Smite and Purification more than Judgement, but I play completely different lmao
Most likely, but the idea remains nonetheless. The first level will still be the filter of players of who goes deeper or perish
I was a front line cleric mainly
PvE is easy enough as long as you understand the timings, so I've never really used purification.
Between smite, and judgement it depends on how deep you want or think you'll grt into melee, if you think you'll have some seperation judgement is great if you're bonk cleric smite is great.
Judgment was very powerful for PVP and to some extent spamable enough for PVE to be decent. With judgment you could press the key to judge invisible rogues and break their cloaking with initiative in damage
I made my statement with a bias towards playing cleric as a backline support instead of a bonker boi. If you're up close I see how smite would be more valuable
If you primarily want to have a foci out then judgement is the way to go for sure, it brings a lot to the table.
Did anyone end up successfully killing the last bosses? I never got around to making a group to specifically kill them.
I never did, but a bunch of people did.
Curious how difficult it was, my group tried one or two times then said f it cuz it felt like you needed a comp dedicated to killing em
I've heard wizards are somewhat of a no go, but otherwise its about knowing what the bosses do and having some sustain.
Can we have a spanish chat here on discord. We are a lot of spanish players.
I think wizards in pvp are fine and pve can do very decent things with missiles. But for bosses like the lich or the king I feel like the class would underperform since biss fight requires to keep moving to avoid damage. Which is a problem since their strongest spell(magic missile) requires you to stop moving to shoot a swarm of projectiles and well obviously without anything to have more spell capacity in the previous playtest It didn't work in their favor.
But I could be wrong depending if soneone grabs the aggro
I know fighter has a skill for that
Purification was great sure especially for farming levels
killing 10 mobs at a time is pretty nuts
Soon as you factor even the tiniest amount of PvP in though Judgements just broken as all fuck
Yeah, Judgment is literally a freebie for 30 magic damage which is ignored by any kind of physical armour
More than 30 and all with perks no?
Never did test if the perk increased its damage
Well if you had gear giving magic damage in any form yes, but over all I thought the undead slaying perk only affected melee attacks and same for mace mastery
Was the perk just for increased healing then
Ah, maybe that perk stacked for Holy light for the damage on undead maybe
The +5 healing perk is just for healing yeah. Don't think there was anything else that dealt in magic.
dunno why i assumed that was holy everything
either way 30 unavoidable damage is crazy. Its basically going "ok i start 100% all fights you start 50%"
Not even just the damage on judgement though, it comes with an amazing slow which is hufe for teamfights.
I only learned you could cast it through doors on the 2nd day lol
next playtest confirmed?
Yea December 16 to the 23
did the devs say what they are focused on changing the most from last playtest to the one in december?
dope, thanks
Do you guys think cleric could be viable solo?
I only played Cleric last play test, and I did fine solo for the most part.
Solo cleric is very viable, judgment/smite combo seem to be very effective
Did they say anything about when they will get full controller support in the game
Of course going up against a 3 man group is hard. You just have to play to your strengths and your surroundings.
I think i would still rather be able to heal and use bless etc. instead of smite. I wont be playing solo that much anyway but just thinking is it complete garbage.
It is, takes some doing though.
I've mostly heard drunk and smite bonk clerics.
@fathom crow you are underestimating potions and bandages i think! Smite extra dmg will sometimes make the clutch happen :), but i also think spells is viable
they're gonna do it but i don't think it's high priority right now
Yeah, its just last playtest we had a real big problem with heals (nobody played cleric) so i wanna fix that.
I tried smite, but mostly stuck to the spell book and the aoe undead damage spell
For groups, you go spells 100%
Yeah ik
There's a level of choice available when going solo cleric for what you do which is neat.
Even solo I went spells. The buffs + drunk combo was really nice in fights.
Yeah, it has a lot of versatility
So many different skill combos for different situations
The big heal damaging undead also was super useful against the wraith or whatever it's called.
Yeah i think spells is viable solo also, might not be bis but for damn sure viable
Holy light?
Thats the spell atleast
Yeah, I believe so.
Kinda annoying u cant use the big heal on urself but...
Drunk cleric was looking like some fun as solo hahah
Yeah i agree, they must have a reason why they make it this way tho, really wondering
Yeah, how much strength did the best ale give?
Im not sure, but they were kinda cheap @ 4gold/each i think
I want to say 12, but I'm also thinking 15
I think its 15, not sure tho
Damn thats good
15 at the highest yeah
I know I went with the cheaper one normally on solo runs, just in case.
Ah its 10, i was crazy with my 4/each hahaha
The perk is not even a problem for the slots, probably the +5 healing first, then the self heal thing and lastly the barkeep. No idea for the last but.
If in a group of course
The -3 damage one apparently works on magic and dots.
Solo the self heal is pointless but
I ended up using the perseverance (-3 damage) one all the time. Not sure if BIS but I liked it.
Yeah i think that could be in the last slot for me as well
Although im not sure why im planning stuff already, playtest is still far away
Some of those may change too. I'm excited that spell capacity should be fixed this time around.
How was it broken?
Ya?
Did bonk clerics use warmaul or just club&shield?
Unless I'm reading this wrong:
"Caster's spell capacity should now work properly."
I was under the impression it wasn't adding to the amount of spells they could cast.
I always found the maul to be too slow for my liking
Usually maul
I also disliked the maul, i always ended up hitting my teammates with that 180° swing lmao
Yeah, such a huge arc
Maul had the highest damage potential yeah. Morning star had good damage too and was much easier to handle.
I have to imagine having the shield would drastically increase survivability
Depends, movement can save you a lot.
Btw can the cleric cast protection on himself? I think the description (atleast on the wiki?) didnt say "casts to self if no target is found" like it did on bless and lesser heal.
He can, but you have to look at the ground or the wall, so it will self cast
Yep, don't target any other player (friend or foe) or enemy (alive or dead)
Also, using a spell book I found to be easier than a staff. It removed the issue of potentially hitting a wall upon casting.
What is the voice line the cleric says while casting
Lowers the potential, doesn’t remove it
What's a parry in this game
Mad whispers?
Longswords can do an attack pretty quick after blocking, that's the only one I know of.
Thanks
Well that sucks lol
lowers it by a ton tho. and the movespeed alone makes it the best wizard weapon imo
Yep, makes sense to why I never noticed it happen with the spell book. As a cleric I only used that in my offhand, staffs don’t seem useful at all.
until you need to break a jar in the way of your egresss
Ah yeah I hit a wall with a spellbook at a fairly critical time
Swap to mace, problem solved.
wizard problems
Damn…. I’ll keep that in mind then lol
I was right at the edge of the doorway though so that’s a pretty specific case
if you kill for example 4 npcs, then die, you get the same EXP than if you kill 4 npcs and then extract from raid?
you get any bonus from extracting? same with player kills
The exact model is unknown and it changes from playtest to playtest. That being said XP is earned by doing pretty much anything. Killing players, killing AI, opening chests/corpses/portals, escaping, taking a down portal. The largest chunk of xp is going down to the bottom floor, followed by escaping, and then killing Elites/Mini-Bosses.
going down to the bottom floor you mean the down portal, right?
i found that hitting lvl 20 is easy, and you get no reasons to kill starting mobs, would be great to be able to lvl up more and more
Killing mobs seemed to be worth the XP. That being said, I’m pretty sure in the Q&A it was mentioned XP and loot was increased for the play test. Could be harder to level up once it’s released.
You know damn well you’re not hitting level 20 in 1 day on release right? I imagine xp gains were dramatically increased for the play test
still, you get bonus perk on lvl 15, and on lvl 20 you get nothing
so whats the point on getting more than 15
That was playtest where you couldn’t use skill tree
ah, got a point there..
I'm curious if they'll increase the lvl cap too
We don’t know if 20 is the cap or if they want to go even further beyond
but still would love that max lvl may be 100... idk, when yo ustop leveling up games turn boring sometimes
Prestige could also be a thing
max lvl 100, and you get bonus stats every 5 lvls idk
or prestige, yes!
but prestige must be worth
Best way to do cosmetic would be prestige
Nah, that would lead to a big gap between new players and old
there is always a big gap between new players and old, just cause they die from 2 hits.
There may be a skill gap but it always feels bad dying due to a numbers game.
People put way too much emphasis on the naked players game experience IMO. When you die in this game you are in another lobby in like 25 seconds if you q immediately and you lost nothing…
all games are like that
If you have no gear no money you should be hiding like a rat and hoping to extract
That is a fun gameplay loop IMO at least
A lvl 100 in whites shouldn't have an advantage to a lvl 1 in whites IMO (at least not in a raw stats case, obviously having more perks is an advantage)
They won’t though more skills and perks tho
Right I was just saying I don't like his idea of a bonus stat for every lvl past 100
That's all my dude
so then you dont want benefits from levels for new players, but new players will be naked against a full legendary old player
yeah, that seems fair
its the same, just put fun in the game
I said a lvl 1 white shouldn't have a stats advantage to a lvl 100 in whites
then dont play an rpg game
you're a silly boy
👍
this game already doesn't give stats for leveling up
here's to hoping it stays that way
🍻
does anyone know if the armor only mitigates dmg for hits on that part? e.g. helmet mitigates head, but not body shots?
Armor is global.
naked wizard meta it is then 😄
Kweh?
SWSDTG
Q4 of 2023 is the intended release date, and a persistent early access is intended for Q2 2023.
Is there a picture or something or the leaderboards for this most recent playtest?
Cosmetics or titles would probably be the best way to handle prestiging or higher levels
After playtest before this last one, the devs released spreadsheets with that and other data, They might do that once more, but otherwise there are some that people have taken at least of the top 10 of each class/overall.
Do you guys think mana/mp could be a thing
I'm happy with the hard limits.
Once Spell Capacity works or whatever they add in its place it'll be scaleable too.
I can get to hell and leave wiht starter gear and a good group upgrading along the way and i only have 40hrs experance how are you going to keep this game fresh?
Playtests are short so they boosted drop rates, gear will be rarer in EA/full release
also this is like alpha at best, the game's gonna have so many changes and content ahead
Attention all Darklings. Wanted to start spreading the word that I will be releasing my Player's Handbook today at 6PM EST. This Handbook is part tutorial primer for new players to get to know the game better, and part Game Mechanic breakdown regarding some of the Mechanics used in Dark and Darker. I'll be hosting a live Q&A session about the book, and only the book, in The Tavern at that time. I'll go over the book quickly and then answer questions about it if there are any.
I want to stress that this is a personal fan project and is not endorsed by Ironmace. I am not a Developer. I do not speak on behalf of them. I am not affiliated with them. All the information within is based on personal observations within the game that myself, and a couple of others, worked to get from the past few playtests.
Aside from a few small instances I keep opinion and bias out of the book and stick to the data. This is not a tips and tricks type of book, but you might be surprised by some interactions you might not have realized. I also want to caveat that I don't claim to be amazing at putting things together so please curb hype 😄
Does the lich move at all or does it just stay in the middle? I saw it move in a video but other videos it didnt move. Might have been footage from an older playtest though, but i just wanna confirm.
Alright because in the video it almost walked out of the room lmao
@whole sluice how are you today senpapi? uwu hope all is well in the secret level of cows
edit: p.s. u are amazing uwu
wtf did i read
bruh
its uwu's brother im telling you @timber thunder
I know you get points for doing things in the dungeon, looting chest… does the Barb get these points for destroying doors/chest since your not interacting with the objects.
I don't believe so, but seems like a nice thing to test if possible
Hmmm I feel like I found my Villain origin story! Lmao NO ONE GETS POINTS FROM LOOTING CHEST! If there all gone Muahahaha!
Mauhahaha 😄
Although, they also can't get any points if they are dead... 🤔
Lmao Funny to assume on my way to the chest I leave survivors 🪓🤣👍
barb can destroy chests?
O friend do I have a Perk for you 🪓🎅👍
i never tried him so i dont know his perks/skills, but that's awesome
Lol so SMASH allows you to break Doors and most chests if it doesn’t break it’s most likely a mimic or locked chest.
time to cosplay Hulk when VOIP is added
This is great, i hope they put it in the game menu.
Hopefully they add all the DnD races so you can play an Orc and do this lol.
Playing naked barb and running around drawing aggro from every single enemy is hilarious because since you break down doors enemies chase you to the ends of the earth. You can lure entire armys of skeletons towards other players.
Yes one of Favorite tactics add fear into the mix and you can stop the mob on people 🪓😈🤘
Its the only way barb can escape if theyre being chased by the blue skeleman
That bastard chases you hard lmao
Use the fear perk if your doing a mob train.
I prefer the one that increases your move speed so i can get some distance
And the one that increases max health since they synergize
Let’s go to Discussions.
What are the chances of unlocking portrait borders/frames from ranked or achievements? kinda like vermintide
Also will we be able to unlock base cosmetics/create characters using presets or sliders?
O GREAT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE @whole sluice , does the 10 strength buff after a kill stack infinitely?
I mean, sure, but considering it lasts 4 seconds, no? 😄
2 Hours 😄
<@&988703997378584596> Any wardens around atm?
Yes
👀
MaddCowQQ of the pool, what is your wisdom, I must know o.o
I think I rolled a 14 for Wisdom? 😄
eyo o.o
Hopefully my bluff skill check worked 😄
So something that's been on my mind is how will level population be once they implement level 1. I noticed a lot of people rushed others off of spawn and quickly players died out emptying the lobby. We went into level 2 with 16 players max per session, so if that same behavior will happen in level 1 with 30 players we'd most likely see less than 16 entering level 2 through down portals. I also rarely noticed people going to level 3 so level 2 and especially level 3 will be empty allowing for free looting. How can they handle this?
They will populate from other lobbies
32 people go into floor one. only 16 blue portals spawn. the rest are red. anything like this i assume is what they will do
Do protection bubbles stack from: the same amount pots, different amount pots, pots + cleric spell, pot + wizard perk, wizard perk + cleric spell?
Highest one takes precedence
that would make doing the bosses almost impossible
Whoever engaged a boss first would be damn near guaranteed to get third partied.
Kill the players first hell is small
i dont think they'll merge lobbies. there are other less artificial ways to populate the lower floors
seeing as lower floors (currently) wait on upper floors to resolve, i think it will result in chads wiping lobbies just to speed up the process. Also since better loot is further away chads are further incentivized to wipe lobbies for quick good gear.
yeah thats likely a meta we'll see. if that ends up getting bad they could always just make portals start spawning sooner/more on the edges of floor 1 and 2
Match making people from other servers taking the down portal at the same time is what you're saying?
The concern more so is more than 14 players dying before they reach portals, less than 16 people are moving to level 2 which would make the lobby more empty
They have already said that multiple servers will converge as you move down to keep b2 for example from being entirely empty after b1
b2 will be fewer clueless people, too -- I'm going to make a point to enjoy this beginning period, before the "clueless" player goes extinct
hm, interesting. so theres low incentive to wipe the lobby in floor 1 before moving to 2 cause itll just get filled up again anyway
if ur just pushing to floor 3 for bosses/loot etc that is
id say that depends on what incentives you, if you're only after what others have you won't be getting much from pvp unless they come kitted from spawn
yeah. i guess thats one way to do it. wonder how many people will merge into floor 3
well from my experience not many went to floor 3 during play tests so id imagine even less of a chance to see others if they add the first level
but if they are going merging route it should always be full right. unless they just do like, say open the lobby for people to merge for 1 minute then start it no matter how many joined or something
also id reckon a good reason nobody went 3 is because everyone knows the playtest is temporary, so they just wanted to pvp. once servers are live id bet there will be farm groups always pushing to floor 3 for bosses
If anything those that pvped would benefit the most out of level 3 because of legendary gear and purples, i just think it was too risky for people to go and or they didn't really know how to navigate it safely
They could implement some sort of karma system just for flr 1 to deter ppl from lobby wiping at the start so we can see more pvp in the lower floors. Since floor 1 is goin to be outside in a forest of sorts, commiting murder outside the dungeon would brand u as an outlaw, and u would hav lower karma wich could go onto affect player amenidites such as traders or something.
i dont think ppl should b discouraged from pvpin on the entire 1st floor, so this rule might only apply within certain safe zones around the edge of the map where ppl can extract. And if u wantd to go into the dungeon then you'ld hav to go towards the centre to find red portals
yeah something like that is a much more interesting solution than just merging lobbies. hopefully we get something unique like that
Isn't the first floor also inside the dungeon
i guess i meant outside the crypt which is floor2
I was wondering what the devs had in mind when it comes to character customization? I know this game will play a lot like a rogue like in some ways, but character customization is my favorite part of games, especially fantasy games. Especially if the customization is purely aesthetic and unlocks through gameplay, as it helps maintain a sense of progress even if you lose everything else if you die in a match. Just wondering if this has been mentioned? Thanks 🙂
how do you guys feel about when like hunt showdown, when dying and revived your are limited to only a certain percentage of your health say youre capped at 80%? thoughts?
Fuck revives. Makes good plays meaningless
Not even a huge fan of Cleric having revive
Revives i dont mind as much in hunt showdown as its not so much loot based and far more action orientated. Still don't like it how 1v3 becomes that much harder due to revives as taking someone out long ranged becomes utterly meaningless
i think it's highly likely that cosmetics and customization will come since it's the only other "ethical" way for additional monetization besides the base price
i dont care to much about revives, as a cleric you dont even get rervived anyways (spell wise) just a thought for clerics revive spell
Oh you dont mean a global stand back up system you just mean when a cleric revives someone it gimps their health
So long as the revives are not able to be done on the spot and quickly I don't think this is true. The cleric can only do it once before having to use a campfire and its a huge cast time where they have to sit still
And when you bring people to an altar you're naked so your buddy will have to forgo loot to bring the dead person's gear to the altar
Needs 2 campfires now actually
last test I was able to with 1 grey campfire...did they change it or something?
They changed it halfway during the last test
ah, I must not have needed to get rez back halfway through. I'm sure the higher tier campfires would do it in one then
regardless, doesn't change my point, bolsters it if anything
Higher tier campfires just change the amount of time to start it. Doesn't change health regained or Spell Points currently
Will there be 'patch notes' that describe the changes made to the game before the next test?
good to know, ty!
bet, just made an assumption
It makes sense that it would also give more health per tick/spell points. Maybe down the line?
Or have longer duration etc...
Anyone know the requirements for Troubadour role ?
Yeah thats kinda what I figured they did, but never got around to using one to test it out
but even just placing it quicker is a pretty nice thing, the grey ones took forever
P sure you have to ask for it and link to your twitch/yt
Does my max health increase when I drink ale? Can I use it to heal myself?
How do you become a troubadour
Do you happen to know what higher tier Spellbooks do if they don't provide any bonuses (i.e. a Blue Spellbook versus a White/Grey one)?
Nothing really
Maybe eventually
Dam. Was hoping it maybe sped up cast time or something
@whole sluice you know how Ibecome a trou badour? I streamed for like 20 hrs last playtest
Talk to Luci
Also, does holding a Crystal Ball slow you down? I think it does, but I was told otherwise from a friend (who I'm still pretty sure is wrong lol).
Everything Readied slows you down
ye thats what I thought
I also learned from your guide that the Golden Key only has a 10% chance to spawn. I only killed the center miniboss once and got the key so I thought it was much higher rofl
Yeah that was a really helpful info. I assume it is going to be a lot lower in the main game though, but hard to say
They sell for more to the merchants
I mean, I guess so, but weapons also sell for basically nothing compared to jewelry
Right. Giving you a factual difference
I get that, yeah
Presumably there will be a difference later. Purple starts to have additional stats on it.
the golden key is different than the skeleton key
I saw that it was 10% for both keys
So i'm a late comign found this game recently while surfing youtube and steam. Haven't found the area to sign up for testing.
I apologize i just searched and found the announcement for the steam page playtest button
Literally all you do is just go to the Steam Page and hit "Request Access", although I think you can only do so during an actual playtest. Next one is Dec. 16-23
yes that is what the post about the play test that i referenced said.
do we happen to know what we will be testing for the playtest in december?
The most likely things will be balance and bug-bashing, seeing how well the attributes work and the functionality of the bag/backpack system.
will there be subclasses? like a cleric becoming a healer or a paladin type thing?
How do you join the playtests?
@still reef
bro read what was already said
is this game good?
Yes
Thoughts on randomly generated dungeons? Maybe each raids. Maybe regenerated each day?
Maybe it's always been planned for it
devs tried it but the result was awful.
What about instead of randomly generated it was random doorways like you go though 1 door and you end up walking through a complete other one anywhere on the map. Obviously this would only be for like some event not standard game
this is concept of portal doors but I suppose all suggestions will not be taken because they already set deadline(Q2) and have to do backbone of the game so they simply don't have time of resources for anything else.
Oh yeah no of course the idea just sounded interesting to me, map means relatively nothing and each doorway will take you somewhere completely different.
ah, Teleportation Labyrinth, actually bad idea because we have ring of dead and search for extraction portals will be a hell.
Oo god yeah good point
Get rid of the circle though and it'd be neat.
they tried this too and yep the game was boring.
With the teleporting thingy? Circle is important for the current layout.
Might be less so if loot was less common, as in less actual chests, alongside lower drops in mobs.
I acknowledge the idea and interesting concept but it is theory in practice there will be many problem not to mention that it will take many resources to make map-like this somewhat balanced, fun and roguelike.
The circle need to pressure player to make move and not loot all map and sit until very end. Sadly now there is no alternative to it.
yes there is, instead of a weird magic circle, make parts of the map unstable, make them crumble; or strategically block of or destroy parts of the map because its an old tower after all, you could also show the player that that part of the map is going to crumble or get destroyed by making the screen shake, or showing cracks in the walls, and give the player an actual physical map instead of some weird overlay.
It's a hard core game, make the player die if he makes a mistake, the pressure on the player is needed but i feel like the cricle doesnt fit the vibe of the game
me neither, i think that the idea of the minotaur in b1 sounds like a good idea, it should be like the mob that chases u on torghast in wow
as the game starts he walks slow, but as it progresses it forces the players to run away from it, and its footsteps should be loud
Where can I look at class perks and skills?
#📢announcements message
Check out the linked google share drive file -- pretty sure it's got everything as of the time of its publication
3 rations
will there be big boobie girls in this game?
hey did the wizards discord channel ever get posted?
Hey guys. Was just wondering if you all have a website with job postings? Or if you're ever in need of level / game designers?
@whole sluice hello, on your handbook you wrote that Strength increase physical power bonus, even for bow ?
Yup
ALL physical damage is increased by it
ok thx
that makes sense
As an irl archer yes I guess that is a way you could attribute strength to bows. Other ways could be: Harder draw strengths/strength requirements for certain bows, being able to hold the draw for longer periods of time if they add that as a feature, or as you said a decreased draw time in general
This is slightly off topic from the game itself, but did any of the devs ever go into their personal journey story on how they got started in game dev?
There is a interview on YouTube, they are in a disused jujitsu gym
Is it confirmed that the bard is getting added in Decembers play test?
Isn't.
Ok nvm swear I heard that somewhere
All we know that they want to add the bard but there is a lot to do with the current build so he might be in the dec. build.
Gotcha
will this game be on consoles on drop? what about crossplay?
As far as I know they want to release DnD on consoles but not on release.
Also - no crossplay.
man that sucks i got alot of xbox friends that wanna play with me
can the cleric use a 2 hander?
Yes, war maul.
By Any Chance Dark and Darker gets Virtual Reality?
This game would be a banger to have an VR version for only VR players or even with the others together
anybody test if the dual wield perk for fighter works with shields?
any way to apply for partnered content creator? I am currently a partner for The Cycle: Frontier and wanted to see if I could partner with DnD as well!
i was wondering the same thing and havent gotten a straight answer
Dual wielding only works if you have 2 weapons for different hands. Shields are a left hand weapon, so you cant dual wield them. But for example, the castillon dagger is a left hand weapon and the rondel dagger is a right hand weapon, so you can dual wield them.
Oh wait i thought you asked if you can dual wield shields. But yeah i think the shield is considered a weapon and therefore works for the bonus.
will this game have wipes like tarkov?
I believe they are still on the fence? but leaning toward having wipes
@dapper lake @lunar crow Luci and Graysun handle troubadour requests. So you should dm one of them
lol
What are the quest's that the traders are gonna give us i'm very curious to see how that's gonna work in-game
don't think there's many other options besides Kill X, Pick up X or Go to X or similar
Go down 3 times etc
can we PLEASE get longer play tests?
They've stated it before in the previous Q&A session, but the primary reason for the shorter durations (so far as I could tell, either from direct explicit responses or what seemed to be implied):
--> smallish team of devs, with no support-staff (a literal a group of developers with no dedicated community managers, sales/marketing, business development, IT/server maintenance & support staff, etc.)
--> aren't large enough as an org to do development of new content + bug-squashing while simultaneously running live servers (at least for now- implication being that they can manage this split focus next year given the early access that's scheduled for April-23)
They need to hire some mfers because this game is addictive
agreed, I need this game in my life.
can you send me their discord profiles, tried to find luci, but there are a few in here
Luci#3441 and Graysun#5088
@hardy drum ^
Any idea if the devs are gonna do something to the ranger? Its so busted rn its not even funny. Maybe lower their hp to like wizard/rogue levels or something?
They will no longer get infinite ammo. That is a huge nerf already
how do i get in a playtest (sorry if its a dumb question)
gotta wait til dec 16 on steam
ok
Where did they say this?
sdf said it a while ago
Damn dec 16 that’s so far
You can probably find it using the search bar
Gotcha Thx
will you be able to buy arrows from the shops or will have to use a campfire like wizard and cleric do to get spells back?
also dont think ranger needs a nerf when people are so new to game and barely know how to play it
Not confirmed how exactly they will limit it yet. And yes, Ranger absolutely needs a nerf and limited arrows is exactly what it needs to be lol
what if the ranger had a fletch ability to make more arrows like the wizard that has to meditate
id be cool with that they start with like 30 arrows and have a 15 second fletch ability to make 15 or something
thats way too many lol. basically no difference in unlimited. my assumption is you're going to load in with maybe 20, but you'll be able to bring more from a merchant, maybe not. the thing is, you can only hold say 10 in your quiver, and reloading your quiver takes a very long time. so if you're in a fight with a ranger u can count his arrows and know hes running low and try to engage around when he has to reload
they will likely add a perk for %chance arrow retrieval from targets you've killed, and make arrows a type of loot that drops from chests/skele archers
yeah definitely cant wait for something to happen with them haha
The ranger might end up having an easier way to get ammo, but there's probably going to be a generic way to do it. Ranger isn't the only one who can use bows or crossbows.
Can we see more of those analytics that you posted in #development for the last and future playtests? I find it very interesting.
Just dunno if it would be a great idea if rangers had to actually pay for arrows. Rangers could back themselves into an ineffective state that way.
Is there any information on how much this game is gonna be on release?
bruh
So how did anyone die in the tavern?
Yeah that little section of the bar charts was also there in the previous alpha summary data, too. My guess is a Wizard kept setting himself on fire with fireball. Should be the only one. Unless this is some kind of magical glitch or console trick
the option isnt there to get the game on steam. is the early access over or is it a me problem?
Alpha test (this was the 2nd one) ended a while ago. Next playtest is slated for December 16th- should run for about a week.
When the time comes, just lookup Dark & Darker's store page on steam, there'll be a giant button that you need to click to request access (it'll instant grant, once the playtest starts up again)
ok ty
Thanks, i didnt know that.
are the dev American or European
Should I keep my current Dark and Darker download, or uninstall it for when the next play test comes up?
it'll update when it comes
Korean if im not mistaken
Is this graph the average number of games people played per character level? And also what actions gave the most experience? Is that ExpPoint graph cumulative experience points everybody earned, total?

Sorry i dont know if this question has been answered but is there a play test right now?
Next playtest is December 16th and posted in #📢announcements
People that didn't load in or Alt F4d etc and never reconnected
That makes snese.
Lobby Death could be an achievement down the road... for giggles

Was wondering why Game Count By Class graph and Class Game Stat TotalPlayCount show different data? The Game Count By Class shows more people played as Fighter, then Rogue, and then Ranger, but the Class Game Stat TotalPlayCount shows Ranger as most played followed by Fighter and then Rogue.
I think the Class Game Stat 1 that shows total play count and total death count shows the difference in how many went in versus how many died. The Fighter shows 1,912,113 games fighter played. On the other chart it shows just over 1.5 million died, and the total play count is under which would be the difference between the two numbers and to equal the original 1.9 mil figure
Any plan to make boss kill count for whole squad and not who last hits the boss?
I would be surprised if they don't tackle that at some point with how team focused the game is
Tbh getting rid of some of these leaderboards might be better for overall game health. Pvp kills for example just incentivizes stomping noobs
People will stomp noobs regardless of a leaderboard. I don't know many people who wouldn't kill someone just because they looked noobish
I think they mean the existence of the leaderboard tends to encourage some people to play in a way that emphasizes hunting other new/undergeared players so they can watch that number go up, and after watching a few YT videos on Dark/er, I am inclined to agree, that's definitely a thing. I haven't decided if I think it's a bad thing or not, though.
I won't say it doesn't have an affect on anyone, obviously some people will be. I just don't think it's significant. I think people who are inclined to want to be top of a kills leaderboard would most likely kill everyone they can regardless of it being there.
I'm just saying in a game like this a leaderboard isn't going to stop noob stomping...if it's a concern the devs will have to set the rules up to stop or disinsentivise the behavior
public leaderboard is good for nothing but ego inflation imo
To be clear I'm not defending the existence of a leaderboard either, just pointing out it probably won't curb much noob stomping if it's gone.
I ignored it as my playstyle's too casual for that, but I'm sure it appeals to the portion of the potential player-base that's more inclined towards competition. If it draws the extra audience, why not?
Can we have a spanish chat text channel here??
Good.
When’s the next play test ?
31 days 13 hours
has anyone seen any balance info for the next playtest yet? have the devs confirmed ranger triple shot was busted?
don't think they've released anything like that. but i wish.
pretty sure they're going to release that info only 1 day earlier or on the same day, not sooner
I mean, did you see the chart on what killed the most people? Spoiler: it’s the longbow.
Dev team isn’t blind, so I’m sure it’ll be addressed.
Although I will say, it could be argued that the reason the kill count is so high for bows is that it is easy to get the last hit; what I would really like to see is the chart of which attacks caused the most damage total
You guys think quiver reload is gonna be a skill, or just something passed by time?
dont yahs just hate archers claiming kill loot just because they hit the a player for the last hit kill
Nah man if theres loot for a ranger it prolly shouldnt be loot for the other two guys in your party.
inb4 triple shot becomes double shot
holy shit that would be perfect
how about double for long bow but keep triple for the shorter bows. i never use them the damage from the long bow is just a lot more enticing, so keeping the triple shot would give them move purpose, and i can see the long bows being op that way.
Bows are hard to balance because of how slow paced the game is. Its hilariously easy to land reliable shots
I didn't even think the triple shot was that bad but then i played classes with a shield so might be biased. The main problem was just eating extreme damage at mid range that you don't have the speed to reliably dodge
Tight and long hallways ofc didnt help matters
Spider mummys got most kills u think they need a nerf too? 👀
I mean I played with geared rangers who would hit 80-100+ on each shot so yeah the triple shot was rough
Funny.
Ok even though that’s some B+ shitposting, the factors you need to consider on PVE deaths vs PVP deaths are totally different. New players are gonna get killed most often by the enemies they encounter most, and which attack the most. There’s a few notable rooms where spider mummies are abundant and they obviously fly under the radar. Again, if we could see total damage done by a given monster rather than kills, I think we’d see something very different. It’s not uncommon to see someone run away from pvp and into spiders.
Also spiders are fast and they hide much easier in the dark, because of their low profile.
Great mechanic, imo.
Was honestly surprised, i thought skele archer would be #1 .
But like you said big longbow damage taking the last hits + 2 classes being able to use them + unlimited range + the average players being ungeared and inexperienced enough to be dying to spider mummies= recipe for top kill weapon
Yeah skele archer and wraith are both damage machines
I’ll bet in terms of total damage, they did a huge amount—hard to account for frequency of encounter though, obv people can just avoid the wraith, but per encounter, I’m sure it rekt. Skeleton mage was a joke, often killing itself on the floor traps. Needs a buff I think
you must have played a ranger class. skele wizard is terrifying as a melee solo. only way to reliably do it without range is to have 1 friend take aggro and hide around a corner while the other friend is behind
Yea skele archers and mages are a pain since u cant reliably kill them without chancing taking damage as a melee. The skele archers in the Lich room is another story though they are clowns
I do hope they remove all the PvE cheese you can do with just a bow though, makes inferno runs an absolute joke if u have a bow
Nah, I didn’t. Literally he was dead most times I entered that room and dodging him wasn’t hard. Like actually fighting him was harder than normal but he’s guarding good loot. Him killing himself was just like 🤷🏻♂️
They mentioned that mob AI is in its infancy stage right now, so def upgraded mobs in the future 💪
Shield makes a huge dif against the archers in particular though, and crouching to cover head when appropriate. I think it’s unsurprising most people were killed being hit in the head but you can cover it with proper angling of the shield and/or a crouch block
Great sage spider mummies. Much learning was had.
Main issue I think most people had with the skele archers was their range, fighting them in groups, and few options for most melee characters to extend their range (who wants to use an explosive bottle on a skele archer?)
Also, because of the Barb's speed, it's a lot more annoying to solo skeleton archers with starter gear without taking at least 1 hit from the exchange (relatively speaking, vs other classes)
I’ll bet if we could also see the over-time numbers, kills from spiders likely dropped, indicating people figured out the mechanic to fight them more effectively
And by that I mean, probably more than other monsters.
Really the only think I've thought of to help balance rangers is that they have a limited supply of arrows. And after you run out you have to sit down and fletch some new arrows.
I feel like that is general consensus, I think that would really help
At least that feels like the easiest fix to just having an endless stream of arrows fired at you
Agreed my friend.
And it would make people have to be pickier about what they had in their off-hand, I think
The only problem I see with it is that since fighters can use bows, what do they do to restock arrows? Does each bow when you pick it up come with a set quiver of arrows? Does it reset after you exit like spells?
Or do you make fletch a Q skill? I feel like that would have its own issues
Yeah, that was my one pitfall. I was thinking they would come with a set amount. And maybe the ranger can fletch and drop arrows? Or you have to buy some from the shop.
Maybe add a perk for fighters that would allow them to fletch arrows. Much like how the wizard has the meditation perk
Perks isn’t the solution imo. When there will be more class able to wear bow/xbow it will not be viable
Not everyone needs the same 'power' with the bow. Like say default is 10 arrows on a bow. Find one, pick it it's got 10 arrows. But if you want it to be more viable, you pick up the perk that the ranger just inherently has
Will we finally be able to poo in the tavern toilets
Question: Will bosses be tweaked to be able to solo with pure melee?
Thoughts: Right now you can maybe solo with a range class but with pure melee no matter how skilled you are I think it's impossible with the unavoidable attacks that do extreme damage and constant attacks being hurled at you not leaving any time to attack the boss, what I'm getting at is do the devs want bosses to be purely a team thing or allow skilled individuals to be able to kill them because as of right now it's pretty impossible with pure melee
what monsters are considered "undead" when you go down to the next floor?
I think everything maybe not bats and dogs
and maybe not lava monsters
thank you, i know everything on the first lvl is wasnt 100% about the 2nd lvl.
i'm just guessing so could be wrong
Clerics won’t be as popular I think as more dungeons are added with creatures rather than the undead.
idk, u don't really take clerics for their undead perks.
it's just a nice little cherry on top if u decide to run one
Yeah those bonus dmg to undead perks were good for suicidal solo PvE runs -- just mag-dump all the cleric's offensive spells at trash undead mobs as fast as you can. rinse & repeat
Wasn't the Monster KillCount referring to how many of those monsters were killed? Not how many players those monsters killed.
The spiders came in first because, there's a bunch of them.
Question: Will this game have 4 man party's or stick with 3 man?
2 Q&A's ago, dev said that 3-man is enough- they won't do more than that
got ya. Thanks
Hello, Are Stash character or class exclusive ?
hi everyone how we doing today, do we have knowledge on if devs plan on making tarkov hideout type or any other housing system?
Character
good !
too early to say, only thing we've heard is ideas for warehouse for increased stash space
thanks!
Is there a VOD/Summary of what was said during the latest Q&A?
Is it?
There will be but it wasn’t much except they have a “world-renowned hacker” on the team. The rest was mostly questions with the answer of “we’ll add that but it’s not a top priority”.
VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1653910306
summary:
Main point is that they will keep doing their own vision and develop their own pace, even if it disappoints a lot of people.
Dec playtest will have slightly modified maps and in the future they want to have more variety in maps but keep the 3-floor core system.
Future monetised cosmetics will come in the form of emotes & skins but they will never be pay-to-win and will always make sense in the classic fantasy world.
Otto the dog is based on a real dog and was added into the game in exchange of support money.
So many ideas and vision makes this a 5-10 year game.
Custom lobbies are currently low priority but player tournaments and such are inside that vision.
A lot of new interesting weapons are coming - anything you've seen in classic fantasy is likely to be added to the game.
There will definitely come playable races not just humans, but improving worldbuilding & lore & setting will come before that.
They have a world renowned security expert and anti-cheating is a top priority.
Dec playtest will have focus on Knowledge stat and Wizard changes, Resourcefulness/bag system changes will be unfortunately made later.
We might also get to play with the first step of a Crafting system, but not 100% sure.
I think they mostly wanted to announce they’re beefing security
Thanks
Can you use the cleric as a kind of damage dealer instead of just staying in the back, as i wanna play it but i dont wanna just stay back and heal all the time? Ofc i understand the purpose of cleric is healing and buffing, but as he has decent hp and stuff im wondering if i can actually kill someone?
Clerics pretty hybrid and has solid defensive options with armor they can wear. Offensive wise you can mix up and and have strong melee and mid range damage (judgement). Obviously being faster on your feets often better for melee combat but yeah they are not just a heal/buff bot far from it
Good clerics weaving heals/buffs/damage and even can hold a frontline well since they have shields
Yep savage pretty much nailed it imo.
I ran duos with a ranger and held the front of the engagement every fight stalling/killing and letting him land shots
Check announcements - the next test period is in mid December. Just download on steam then.
@kind owl
Well the Kill Count for the spiders was 9mil, and the Steam Acct number was 267k. So either each player, on average, killed 34ish spiders, or..... Each player, on average, died to Spiders 34ish times. Which one is more likely?
Make it so you can't have infinite arrows. You would get more by looting and finding extras scattered around either on the ground or by killing mobs probs
Already planned i think? Ranger was so busted
Thanks!
What is the leaderboard rank based from? Kills, escapes, something else?
I removed the playtest from my library after the last one and no longer have the option to redownload. Is there something I can do to fix it?
Nvm, off by a whole month. LOL
Yeah that makes sense to me, in which case I was right about how shit the skeleton mage is
theres also only like 3 skele mages on the map vs 20 archers soo
Will u guys change so that money isnt limited to your stash size?
probably not, but we will likely see bigger stash
even if we don't, i think thats a good thing. stops the rich from getting richer and just hoarding forever, controlling the market etc
Right, so for them to make up such a high number of killed monsters shows maybe they weren’t too effective
sorry maybe i'm tired today and my comprehension is lacking but i don't understand the point being made lol.
Went and got a quesadilla -- today's another one of those semi-strange vibe days
i actually felt that vibe today at work too lol. also hell yea quesadilla sounds bomb
Ah, sorry, was part of a conversation that happened yesterday, but a lot of people were saying the skeleton mage was very effective, and I argued that because it killed itself pretty often on the spikes it wasn’t particularly effective, and then we all got confused about the monster kills chart, apparently. I initially thought it was just killed monsters, but then I definitely second-guessed myself
ah lol makes sense. yeah the chart is definitely amount of times the monster was killed, i dont think people died to spiders 9 million times haha.
Yeah the data can be tricky because it doesn't always do ratios -- just absolute count mix, which can have a distorting effect
No, I think I died to the spiders once, maybe twice
But admittedly I wasn’t looking at the total number, monster kills wasn’t really the important data I was looking for, I wanted to see what PVP stuff was overpowered and if it matched what I thought, and bows are as gnarly as I thought, even accounting for last-hit scoring
Yeah 😂, maybe dead monsters adjusted for population would be better
It seems the most interesting part of data is missing: Team Kills by Class
I just want “damage dealt” for each attack as listed
Last kill isn’t as helpful, imo
oh like team dmg dealt?
No, for instance if someone had 1000 HP, and they took 800 damage in fireball, but only 200 in rusted pig stick of the lame, that doesn't tell us enough info other than we got +1 kill from rusted pig stick of the lame
Yeah that’s exactly it 😂😂😂
will the game have spectator cam with custom lobbies?
explained in a live q&a: custom lobbies is not on their plan
I can believe it 😆
Yes please
For now but not off limits entirely.
How much darker is Dark and Darker going to get?
Here's me hoping for an artificer with a real long reload musket or some other black powder firearm
Hey people, is there going to be another playtest or a way i can access the game any time soon?
Check #📢announcements bruh
There is like a million long messages there. So I thought it's faster if i could just ask "bruh*
Please join us for our Alpha Playtest #3 from
Start time December 16, 2022 6:00 AM <----- your local time and date
End Time December 23, 2022 4:00 AM <----- your local time and date.
Hope to see you then!
That's from the announcement.
Alright, thanks bro 🙏
That time u show is probably not going to be the same time for him, since your copied time is not the "code" that shows the actual local time and date, since you copied over your own local time
But yeah he can probably see it if he just scrolls up a bit since it's just the 3rd post from the latest
The time doesn't necessarily matter since it's still being released on the same date for everyone. All they would have to do is check steam every so often to see if they can access it.
is there solo only games? or r solo players matched with grouped people?
Are elemental effects like +3 fire damage, etc. on weapons confirmed yet? Would be cool to see those in some stat rolls and also maybe even an option to enchant items of purple quality or higher
You can queue up solo, but you will be going against teams too
who was the dev on the podcast?
wasn't it Terence the CEO?
Are there going to be all of the dnd races to pick from or just the classes?
I think if racial abilities and stats got added that would be awesome for diversifying metas
there will be some, definitely not all
I suppose the height will be the limit.
Atleast human, halfling, dwarf, dragonborn, elves, tiefling or some would be dope
Solo vs teams? Well that's gay af..
Game won't last long if that's true
awesome
There should be a solo queue and an up to 4 person queue, 3 people is kind of awkward but i see how it's for balancing
SDF is the CEO, just a heads up. Terence is the one who is more CM than the other mostly because he speaks English a lot better than the rest
I see.. OnePeg also interviewed Terence and not sdf right?
I believe so, but didn't watch so not sure about that vid
yeah from his title of the video i got the "CEO" part from, lol, but good to know
It was fine during the play test honestly - not too bad as a solo unless they had rangers
yes
sounds like a skill problem my man. Imagine if the Spartans just gave up Themopolyae to the persians.
I did fine going in solo. Also, it's based on DnD, of course having a party will be advantageous! Solo is fun and challenging.
I didnt think id have to use this but... L + Ratio + stay mad + skill issue + another ratio + i + have + no + idea + what + else + because + this + is + just + stupid + yet another ratio
cant wait to be a dwarf fighter and just be a literal wall for my ranged friends. if they do add short races its gonna mix things up a lot, i hope they do
Halfling rogue will go so hard
ugh thats gonna be so good lol. at least they cant headshot you, but theyd be so sneaky
Confirmed to have other races
What makes 3 awkward and not 4?
Third wheel
most people dont have 2 friends let alone 3
I always had 2 duos that don't want to split to go to trios
yeah im the same way lol, but i dont think they should go more than 3 stack
As in relationships, so if its you and your partner and your friend, that's awkward?
Not always, id have a duo then we would go in this discord and find a solo, then they might feel like the third wheel
Yeah or you have a trio and come into discord to find a solo and they feel like the fourth wheel
Just because you don't have a group of only 3 friends doesn't mean the group size should change....group size should be based on game balance
Smaller group sizes appeal to smaller audiences
you can always try to queue at the same time and find each other as a group of 4, or even 6
last playtest i went up against a group of 4 but it happened only once
That makes sense but, doesn't sound like an isolated issue. Like what @jovial parcel said. If you don't vibe, get another until you do, that's what I did. Awkwardness comes from within, like cringe. Be direct or don't and get a new third. Think of the first few matches as an interview
What if there was the normal 1-3 man but a seperate 4 person queue with a special map
Sounds like a win on paper. More content please 😆
Exactly
I think an arena queue would be dope, fight your friends or something
Or a solo only queue
The devs want a tournament style mode or something, might be in the realm of what you are asking for
Oh that would be sick, something like 10 people queue and they simultaneously 1v1 in brackets until you get to the final 1v1 where both of you have all the sick gear the people before you brought
@cunning panther 3vs1 takes no skill
i wonder if they pinned it
anyone with a rtx 2060
whats the fps avg for this game?
Is there any chance they do an offline only mode? Or coop only?
Definitely not going to happen. This is a pvp game first.
PvE only would take almost all the spark out of it. What's currently charming about the simplistic design might actually backfire if it's PvE only
good bye!
no doubt about it
Has anything been said about maybe making the oil lantern attach to your belt?
fps has been getting better per playtest imo. I don't think you need to worry
I got a gtx 1070 and it has NEVER dropped under 60fps. No need to worry.
Something tells me the game is more CPU intensive
still dont think the game was using much in the way of resources but honestly i never checked cus the game felt like butter from the go
@fathom crow @solemn mango
thanks , i am hoping to stream while playing but either way glad i know the fps will be quiteee solid
I would be interested in a pve mode, something like you queue up with some buddies into a dungeon or castle or something thats got harder mobs and a boss
Mo content mo money
@novel ivy from what I seen in the live stream QnA I would say there will be no co-op only mode any time soon or most likely ever
How much will the game cost when it fully releases
am i able to pre-load the game for the next playtest? or is it a "by invite" type of deal. I've looked all over the server and can't find an anser
answer*
Thank you!
idk if it was asked before and answered but i would like to know who did the artworks for the game
What are friends? 🤔
My guess is like $35-$40
Hey everyone, would like to ask is there any way to tryout the game RN? Saw some recent videos on YT and freaking loved it!
Nope Next play test isn’t till the 16th of December
Are they planning a offline version that stays up permanently
Probably not. Offline games are easy to make cheats for, and I doubt they'd wanna split the player base between online/offline players.
i think it would be funny if they added cheese?
New healing item
Will we be able to join the Tavern for more time than it takes to find a group? It would be cool to hang out and test weapons on the dummies. Didn't really have the time to do that in the test.
So will B1, the new 33 player forest layer planning to be added, be significantly larger and more open than B2?
How much health is left after a barbarian takes damage during the warcry buff? Back to full health if the damage taken is less than the warcrys increase?
Is the closing circle for sure going to be a core feature of the game? The extraction games i’m familiar with allow you to move as slowly and carefully as you like. The public test felt a bit more like a battle royale.
Yes
Are they going to make the game fully joypad compatible ?
Honestly if there was a random dungeon crawler pve mode or even a dungeon master mode it could be used for one shot campaigns DnD style and attract more people, fact is the game is great but pvp will always be off putting to the majority.
Just go play d&d then. The devs have a vision for Dark and Darker, let's not try to change it to something completely different.
What's completely different? You mean adding more to the game, building on the platform that's already there and capturing a bigger player base? Alot of the people i talked to during the test while playing loved the idea, Any particular reason you don't like it?
Your idea is bad for so many reasons listing them all would just make you confused and angry.
elaborate
tell me why a pve mode would be bad
nah waste of time
Can I ask where you heard this info?
Perhaps you should check out chivalry or skyrim/eso if u prefer a multiplayer.
This is a multiplayer
I don't see an issue with a PvE mode, either coop or just solo personally (Tarkov does this)
But the PvE mode would either not let you take out loot or the character would be locked to just the PvE mode.
I don't think they should spend time getting procedurally generated maps if they haven't planned on doing that as of now.
You're kind of missing the point of the game though.
It's like saying Mario kart would be better I'd I could get out and steal someone else's Kary. Gta does this so why not add everything to every game then more people will like it.
It's just not what they set out to do
Agreed, the pve and pvp should have separate inventories and levels. (it would be a separate mode after all)
They wouldnt have to procedurally generate maps if they gave us a dungeon creator. Again this is an expansion on what the current version already has in terms of mechanics just without pvp
Of course would require more time and possibly be a side prject or even some goal
I'd be surprised if they would give a dungeon creator mode if they haven't made plans on it already...kind of requires the game to be designed around giving a user the tools to create maps.
is the game not made in unreal engine?
@indigo thicket want me to dm the video I watched? I was worrying the video might not be real but I
I'm pretty sure the creator can be trusted
Sure. I'm intrigued
the video gave me massive respect for the devs with what they plan on doing. This game has an awesome future without a doubt.
Kinda the reason i brought up the whole Pve mode thing, so many people will miss out on the game simply because they don't wana fight other people and it's kind of a shame tbh
oh yeah, i met alot of really cool people during the last test and i'll play the next test.
I get it no one wants pve encroaching on their pvp game, im not a sweat but i have friends that won't try it because they dont wana pvp
I personally think if they added a simple PvE mode which was kept separate but more or less was a carbon copy just without other teams on the map it would be fine. I would only be concerned with added effort towards something other than the main core of the game.
I'd be very curious how much of a playerbase they're actually missing out on by not having any PvE only servers...
PvP games are ridiculously popular so I'm curious what the breakdown is.
Share with the rest of the class
Why all this discussion of PVE? The core game isn’t complete, and it was good as a concept as is.
Local single player sucks, need to restructure game, makes cheating easier.
Multiplayer PvE is not server efficient. Play game as it is
idk if I'm allowed to post links in here which is why I was hesitant but It's a dark and darker Q&A video
Idk why not
Great explanation on why it’s a bad idea douche 😂
I don't think it's a bad idea it's just not a favorable one. You get that in pvp communities though and it's understandable. The argument will always be there but the simple truth is not everyone wants to pvp and majority of the pvp community doesnt like pve only modes in their games. (they think it takes away from their experience)
not every game has to be for everyone, simple enough. Straw manning an already inane argument that it will "increase sales" is the height of arrogance.
point proven
Here's a reason: Mad cuz bad
PvE mode would only make sense if there were strictly new PvE maps - it's completely unfair if you can learn the secrets of the current maps in PvE mode.
Thus, creating these new PvE maps would just take dev time away from the current game, so it's not desirable at all. I would say this would be a super low priority, even making solo maps is better time spent than making PvE maps
Just objectively a terrible idea. I know; let's take a game totally out of context, and then justify targeting an entirely new playerbase bc one guy wants PvE? Therefore splitting dev time on limited resources whilst getting closer to launch? Clueless and ludicrous
Yeah that’s fine I’m not against it or hardcore for it I just thought his response was a little 😂
theres already PvE in the game silly
i dont understand how one could enjoy pve mode in this game, its easy asf and not alot of content even if they did make a pve mode.
IMO the PvPvE is what makes the game fun...would get boring real fast if there wasn't the fear of another player coming around the corner to take your stuff
honestly not to be an ass but it's extremely arguable that catering to actual D&D fans would not widen the audience and would actually have the opposite effect
if you don't like pvp there's always board games and like, the sims 1/2/3/4
this guy gets it
PvPvE is what makes games like this and Tarkov so much fun. If this was a pure PvE game, I would grow bored quickly.
yeah the variability of situations would drop too drastically if the PvP was stripped out of the current PvEvP situation (way more permutations with that extra multiplier)
if you want single player go play dragon age, baldurs gate, divinity, other guy hit the nail on the head. The devs have a plan and a path with goals and timelines. You don't divert from your plan to cater to babies looking for something else.
or else you end up like new world
The feedback the devs are looking for: Lighting from wall sconces sometimes glitches through the wall and light from one room can bleed heavily into a totally different room.
Feedback people here give: Change the whole game in a way you never wanted. Add in new modes you never intended. Give us major design overhauls when the game works fine as is conceptually and isn't even out.
And then some of yall have the audacity to get upset when you are told your idea is dumb.
I am of boss of you. the kitty is mine.
It's like this in every single discord. People think if they play games they can design them. It's laughable really. It's like thinking because you drive your car to work everyday you can go build one.
A lot of people leave feedback as solutions simply for the chance it is implemented, then they can claim "It was totally my suggestion", providing them with some kind of confirmation bias that their ideas are the best.
Oh, I'm aware. Was part of a couple discords that were for games earlyish in development. I mean, some people did have good suggestions, and some of those suggestions were implemented. Almost none of them were systemic changes or massive game overhauls like AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GAME WHICH IS WHAT PVE WOULD BE.
It's like saying turn Deep Rock Galactic into a PVP game. It COULD be really fun, but the devs aren't just gonna go "Oh, I never thought about that before" because some bozo on discord mentioned it.
Like people who are spending tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or millions of dollars on their project just aren't even thinking or planning anything at all.
Yeah the good suggestions are just generally the exception to the rule, but having worked helpdesk in my early years, people hardly ever start out with the problem and just present a solution (that usually doesnt fix the problem anyways), so feedback is 99% useless
I'm not even sure what problem these people are trying to address other than Problem: This game isn't for me
and feedback/bug reports are very different, feedback I relate more to UI and game design, bug is engineering itself
Well, some really good feedback was that the trade channels suck and don't work as intended and there's been a plethora of good suggestions surrounding it.
Not sure what my point is there, other than I guess as an example of having a problem that warrants looking into as opposed to just wanting an entirely different game.
eh if its not working as intended its a bug and so I would classify it different, even tho a bug report is technically feedback
It would probably have worked as intended if they had fewer people though lmao. Tough to anticipate that kind of traffic on a playtest
Mods can we please get this pinned 🤣
I just love the audacity of some mf's seriously sat there looking at an Alpha game and going: "so I want this to be complete different" 🤣 average IQ is dropping to minus numbers I swear
Yup! B1 will be more open with less player density. The idea is to allow players the opportunity to loot white/blue gear, healing items, and complete quests to build up a bank before tackling harder content and instant pvp that we see in B2.
I imagine we will get private lobbies or a pve mode in the future. Lots of people have been asking for this and it would be a good place to practice and for new players to learn the ropes ☺️
Yes but even Tarkov added a pve mode with a separate inventory. The core gane is still PvEvP. But its a nice addition.
I think we will be, at least as a way to inspect other players and see the Easter Eggs. Suggest it in #feedback-hidden-archive though!
The artist the studio hired is very talented! They released some of the art in #📢announcements as a press kit anyone can download 🥰
Probably. They already guaranteed a console release 🙌
I had a gtx 980 and it ran great. The game is only 5gb haha. Plus UE5 which the game runs on is best in slot right now.
Yup! Just recommend it in #feedback-hidden-archive its a great coop game with friends and the bosses are marvelously difficult ☺️ i feel pretty blessed that I got to play & learn in August when there was only ~300 of us and no one was a murder hobo yet.
Will you guys ever allow the name Mellie in game? it is currently considered vulgar by the censorship algorithm but lots of vulgarity are allowed in english.
I would love to have an official answer on that, it's sad not being able to use my usual username in game because for x reason it's vulgar? 😂
That's curious. I mean some of my friends were straight up using things like Cum Wizard and similarly stupid and vulgar themed aliases.
Died to alot of fellas with questionable names, pretty sure checking over the language filter isnt the priority, but you can hope.
Not bad. I usually name my characters Cumgoblin.
Yeah, it seems like they used a list of words found on the internet to make a bot detect what could be seen as vulgar, but it is funny since like mentioned by @delicate spindle there's so many names that were in the last playtest that were really vulgar, but "mellie" which I can't even find a reason online for it to be flagged as vulgar was in that list.
I know it isn't a priority, but I'm really hoping to be able to use my username in the future, it would be amazing if they could remove it from the list this way the next playtest I could have a character with my name 🤞
I will boycott DnD until they remove mellie from the list
Please don't 🙏 hahaha,
Or.. at least until the next playtest...
Sorry, didn't mean to reply
Mobile is weird
is this going to be the last playtest before early access release?
I don't think anyone have the answer to that question
i thought this channel was for those sort of questions
Pretty sure they said full release is next year
With that being said, I'm willing to go full Tarkov mode with this shit. Let's extend it a couple years, make sure it's well funded, and therefore get a more fully realised product.
That's just me personally though. Maybe they have plans for a second game if this one does well.
I think the date were in November 2023 for the release.
Also on the steam page there was some infos on the EA at some point that was saying that they want the game to be in EA for 6-12 months before the release.
🤷♀️ That's all the infos I've got.
From what I understand there's big chance that this next playtest will be the last if they release EA next year and they want it to be available for 6 to 12 months before the release of the game. Someone also mentioned that if possible EA should be released in April next year, again I can't confirm those information but if it's true then maybe there will be one or 2 more playtest in the between?
Only the devs truly know 🙏
What does the B in B2 mean when referring to the map/floor?
Usually 'Basement' It's from old styled games
Elevators in Canada use B1, 2, 3, etc for basement floors xD Which means Canada is just a virtual simulation reality running in DOS
Can confirm I mean, sounds plausible, eh
US does the same
Is EIGHTEENNAKEDCOWBOYS an appropriate username?
Well, i know its pretty immature lol, but is it acceptable for play?
That is acceptable. Also, some would say the opposite, quite a mature username 😏
That is exciting to hear! The level system is such a good idea and adding forest, b1, in will really help new players. Also love the content 👍
That would be sweet, i wouldnt want to remove the pvp aspect of the game entirely of course
Do you like the PvE that much, or hate the PvP that much?
a sparing mode would be nice but a solely pve mode is kinda a pipe dream. it isnt the direction the developers are trying to go with the game plus it wouldnt make sense to make it so you can get loot with out having to worry about other players fighting for it too
PvE only in dark and darker is essentially playing minecraft on peaceful mode.
Its a shallow illusion of the full experience.
idk where everyone thought i was going with the pve mode but it has nothing to do with ruining the pvp part of the game it's simply for people that want to play the game without fighting other people. the modes i had in mind wouldnt effect the pvpve part at all.
alot of people have been asking for a type of pve mode, im not sure why you think i didnt enjoy the pvp in the last test
i wouldnt say that, pvp is a big part of the current experience but adding a pve rpg mode would be cool
Weaklings have asked for such things.
Yeah I don't think the folks making this request in earnest realize what it is that they're even asking for.
There's barely any content for PvE - ~ 3 levels and just a handful of enemy types? The number of situations you can face is extremely limited -- arguably less than a quarter of what some crappy RPG demo could offer you.
What gives this game so much zest is how thoroughly it's intertwined PvEvP into a standalone experience.
Just PvE, you'd face at most... what?
--> 3 levels
--> 10-15 base enemies (excl. championized versions of the base monsters)
--> 6 classes
--> 3 x 15 x 6 = ~270 "unique" situations (grossly oversimplified
Versus PvEvP:
--> 3 levels
--> 10-15 base enemies
--> 6 classes (that YOU play)
--> 6 classes for party member #2, 6 classes for party member #3
--> fighting solo 6 classes, 2-man 6x6, 3-man 6x6x6, fighting multiple sets of any of these three, simultaneously
--> 3 x 15 x 6 x ...? (I actually am not sure how to do this correctly, but you get the idea)
Just having the option of being in a 3-man, and maybe fighting another 3-man is 6^3 x 6^3 = ~47k situations, just for a single 3v3, assuming there's nothing else happening (monsters, 3rd party groups, solos, etc.).
One will feel "flat" and "boring" because you'll grow accustomed to the game's patterns wayyy too fast. The other has more situations, and so it'll naturally hold folks' interest for much longer.
Y’all ready for weight!
i think so im interested how itll work/change up the game play
should serve as an indirect buff to barbs, which is nice
Are there any plans to add dark and darker to geforce now?
Is weight actually confirmed? Why do we need weight when we already playing inventory mini games ?
I don't think that. I asked what I did in a straightforward way because I don't understand the appeal of the PvE aside from the bosses
they want the game to be as realistic as possible. personally im all for it add some strategy to your greed
realistic XDD
🤣
every time i go shopping i need to watch out for ranger traps and random magic missiles
You live in Detroit too?
-Bard confirmed as next class
-Pay structure will probably be like hunt showdown
-We don’t want your investment money for the Xth time
Paid cosmetics only
Yeah, it’s not free to play, pay for game and for skins basically
outward, or for the king
Mordhau
bard will be in playtest? hypeeee
not in this next one
ah rip
I also remember Terry saying the basics of the crafting feature will be in the game(Expect get base material and take it out and build "One item for each class".
His hint for the crafting was "There's a lot of people on the team that like minecraft." Then proceeded to make mining sounds and swinging his hand like he's holding a pick, so maybe we'll be mining Ores? Do we gotta level up our mining like Runescape?? Who knows lol
Also said "In this upcoming playtest there will be another Race"(and testing cosmetic of some sort) because they want to "test things out more".
what are all the classes they plan on adding down the road besides bard?
They are staying true to "classic" "trope" classes of old school RPG and Dungeon and Dragons lore
@wet mantle im gonna be real im dumb as hell could you give examples? never got the chance to play DND
Battle Brothers, Heroes Hour, Zero Sievert, Hunt Showdown, Running With Rifles
From my understanding, so far we're missing Bard, Paladin, Druid, Monk, and Warlock. Also, Artificer, Blood Hunter
Deep Rock Galactic, One More Dungeon 2, Barony
#📢announcements message this viddie shows the upcoming classes and new maps that are possible amongst some orher stuff. 🙌
Google "Dark and Darker Bard and Druid" there's a reddit post that shows some art of those classes. Should be like the first link
Will the bard be a caster? And if so will they have a mix of cleric and wizard spells? Or will they have thier own spell list?
I'd bet they'll have their own spell list
@whole sluice does blue pot stack on cleric prot or does a phys hit shred both equally?
Blood hunter not getting added lol
I believe last playtest Cleric overrode, but not sure if it overrides all qualities or whatever gives more prot. I'd have to play more with spells next time to see
Thank you 💯🙏
Question: Do you move slower walking backwards? i never paid enough attention and now i'm curious
I think so
Yes. Your movespeed is cut in half if you're touching the back key at all iirc. Every other direction lets you move at full speed.
