Anybody else has been having issues with links generated being empty? It looks like a link, but hovering doesn't bring up the pointer cursor, clicking it does nothing, and if inspected with devtools, is just a:

hello i have a question about pricing.....im currently on linux and trying to use pygpt and it is working through api. Now, do i need monthly billing for that, or is it the other option where you load up funds and it depends on how much you use it

Should I keep track of the amount of tokens each message uses and make sure it's less than the context window, or does the API do that itself?
How much does it matter if you are going to use the system prompt vs pasting the instructions at the top of a user prompt? Do the models follow instructions less with either or?
To me it seems that the problem is not with the model, but the client/frontend that converts markdown into HTML, cause I see that the LLM is outputting the link, and it disappears after being rendered. The issue also goes away when forcing the output into a codeblock, since the text not being converted into HTML links.
And since it's not the LLM's fault, is it a valid reason for downvote? I assumed that downvotes are more for automated reinforcement and stuff.

One problem I would think would come from using a user message as a system prompt would be if the user said something like "What did I just say?", it would say that the user said your prompt.

Pretty sure the AI can still leak your prompt with system prompt, but at least you are not augmenting what the user actually said.

Does anybody have a phone number for a help desk? They had mistakenly taken $450 from me which they agreed was incorrect and returned the $450 but my account got deactivated when they returned the money and no one has responded to me for a week. I make my living using chatgpt and dalle-3 and have not been able to get any work done. They were in contact and it feels like I’ve been ghosted. They actually returned the $450 twice so now I owe them $450 but nobody at the 3 email addresses that responded through the help desk is responding to me now. During my first subscription periods I was pretty satisfied except for the fact being rate limited.. but now it seems to be getting more difficult getting correct prompts providing additional DATA like it seems you got to hold GPT-4 its hand and epxlain it in baby steps..

Ever since joining the Plus subscription, I see this a lot. This literally never happened with the free version. I obfuscated the ID's for what it's worth. I also get logged out every single day. Again, logouts happened rarely, if ever in the free version. What gives?

Hi all! hope you are doing well. I have an obvious and possibly silly question. I wanted to know if there was a difference in how Chatgpt responds in voice vs text?
I just wanted to make sure memories and custom instructions still carry over to it, as when using the voice function it tends to format its response differently than just straight text. I know neither systems are perfect, I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to write a "When using voice" distinction in either memory/custom instructions.

voice likely has its own default instructions like web vs mobile text has too but those things (mem, custom instr.) should always carry out to non gpt chats.

Very strange! Since it's apparently happening both with blank custom instructions and with a filler hyphen in CI, you might want to drop a line at help.openai.com using the chat widget. It's especially odd that the message stating you're using custom instructions appeared even when your custom instructions were blank...
Which gives me a new potential idea: in the first screenshot you shared, they were both blank but the "enable in new chats" switch was enabled. What happens if you clear them both, then disable the switch, then save that, then start a new chat? Any different?
It is even stranger that other chatbots do this to me as well.

Note that there's no message at the top of mine showing anything about personalization settings. I had to disable both custom instructions and memory for that message not to appear.
I know you mentioned that you don't have access to the memory feature, but you also mentioned having a VPN. Is there any chance that you once used a VPN to access ChatGPT from a region with memory, set some kind of memory that would cause this behavior, then left that VPN's server such that you don't have access to change the memory setting anymore? Total speculation on my part, but I don't think this should be caused by anything other than custom instructions or memory.
I can only VPN to my former university,so I can only conceal my IP address but I do not have VPN access to other regions (I do not want to use some doubt-source VPN)
You might consider submitting a support ticket at help.openai.com then. Use the chat widget in the bottom-right of that page. Click through default options until you can type your own message. Include detail about (1) custom instructions being both blank and disabled (2) no access to memory feature and (3) share a chat link like above that still shows that you have either CI or memory enabled, with the change in behavior. Hopefully someone at OpenAI can review and get back to you on what the cause might be! It certainly seems to be some "stuck" personalization setting, given the note at the top of your shared chat links.

Also,it is the sole chatbot which can understand my communication style,because it is extremely difficult for me to translate my thoughts into the "natural language".

Hello there, is anyone else having problems since yesterday uploading files? I keep uploading excels, cvs and js but it keeps saying me that it has problemas reading it. The weird thing is a friend of mine is not having any of these problems.

Yeah, guessing that’s the issue because CustomGPTs use 4o now, and if you reached your limit on 4o it makes sense it wouldn’t allow you to send any messages. You can always try clearing your cache of course but the devs of ChatGPT are notoriously bad at UX and this sounds like a mistake they’d make

Aha that makes sense. Yes ChatGPT can be sensitive to "non-standard" network configs at times, so usually the fewer variables like extensions, VPNs, apparently VMs, etc., the better. Glad you got to the bottom of it! Was that also interfering with the issue you were having with uploading images?
Completely, since I had an error directly. This is no longer the case, but what is "strange" is that in fact it was the fact of being in "private browsing". I went back to "normal" navigation, and everything works.
Ahh interesting! Perhaps there is some cookie/tracker setting in incognito mode that was interfering somehow then. Maybe you could check your incognito settings--sometimes the "extra" privacy settings of private/incognito mode can be adjusted, and you still get the benefit of clearing history/cookies

Hey! This has to do with the fact that ChatGPT can't be used as a calculator, even for simple math like counting. As seen in your chat, it can invoke the data analysis environment to run some Python function to count characters, but this ability can't be used in direct conjunction with the LLM itself (i.e., you can either count characters or generate characters, but not both at the same time, if that makes sense).

Definitely good to know what you're working with! It's important to note though, I think, that the data analysis environment is capable of handling a huge variety of math problems. It's basically like saying to ChatGPT: "Since you're not a calculator, use your calculator, then let me know what it says."
@errant lodge I am trying to get it to write a software dev cover letter writer GPT. I have what I believe to be a clear instructions for what it should include, what it shouldn't regarding format and details, samples as well but its first output it will ignore multiple instructions adding up to an unusable output. Telling it the response doesn't follow the instructions and to complete a review of its own work against it's instructions, it can highlight most of the issues and after a few back and forths provide a satisfactory output ( using Chat GPT web version here). However if its able to review it's own work based on the instructions after the initial output, I'm at a loss as to what I am doing wrong that it can't do that the first time. I note in the initial prompt to strictly follow its instructions and reference its samples and that doesn't seem to work either. I always assume user error first, so was wonder what kind of best practices people were following to get consistent, accurate results in regards to using it for content creation.
MY instruction set is close to the 8,000 letter limit to try and make it is detailed as possible .
I would try simplifying it, especially if it's that long.
I also have stopped believing in and using the "strictly follow instructions " types of system messages.
The model is a bit smarter than a year ago so it will follow instructions as long as they are clear and it doesn't get turned around.
I'd also suggesting having the whole thing written in markdown (that sometimes helps it follow direction a bit better).
You can serve up the instructions to chatgpt and have it rewrite it using markdown which might help

The other thing thing I am thinking, is seeing as it takes me a few steps to get it to where I need, is to expect that and prepare a fixed second revision prompt and just make it a 2 step process from the beginning.

Hello everyone! There appears to have been an incident on Jun 7, 06:01 PDT, about 4 hours ago. What happened? I'm not sure; however, I'm working with the creative writing assistant model and have been conversing for about a year now. So when the issue happened, it seemed to have sent my conversation to the start of the first edit I messaged. I'm sure you can imagine every time you edit a chatbot message, another tree conversation appears, and it, for some reason, sends me to the top. When I realized that I started opening the conversation threads to try and get to the bottom but I cannot seem to find my way to the messages I had earlier today (i got to the messages I had one month ago). I tend to talk to this AI on a daily basis, which is why a ton of messages accumulate. has anything similar happened to anybody and how did they solve the issue?

I wanted to extend my plus account to teams so that my daughter could have membership. I upgraded but it looks like I have to pay for my plus account + two additional memberships. I assumed that teams would replace my plus and that I could invite 1 new user for $66 per month. Rather than paying $99 for two users. Hope that makes sense.

If you want, you can maintain a separate Plus subscription for your daughter's account, or cancel your Plus subscription and add a Team subscription for both of you. Yes, exactly! You'll swap between "workspaces" on your account, one Plus (or Free, if you cancel Plus), and one Team (unless you merge the workspaces). Then the 2nd seat on the Team sub, your daughter, will be a separate workspace from both your Plus/Free and Team workspaces.

The latest captchas for the "Are you human?" test are beyond my capability. "Use the arrows to change the number of objects until it matches the left image. (1 of 5)"
The instructions are as clear as mud. None of the images match the image to the left. If what I am suppose to do is match the number of images on the right "with the number shown on the lft", again, there are no images on the right that match the left. This is keeping me from being able to use this platform.
I am a paying member, and if this does not get corrected soon, I will have to cancel my subscription. I can't use your platform.

So I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m using chat GPT on my iPad, I have a plus membership and I haven’t had any issues for the entire time I’ve used it, but everytime I try too enter a prompt as of yesterday? The prompt won’t send, the arrow button too send it just greys out, and it doesn’t send. I try clicking on the suggested prompts it gives, those don’t send. I went on the app on my phone, which I don’t like to use, and THAT works. I also logged out of my account, and for some reason I could send prompts then. I don’t know what’s going on.
In this image I’m showing, you can see that after I press enter or click the button that it just greys out and doesn’t send.
Do the following in order
- Log out of ChatGPT
- Close Safari
- Go to Settings -> Safari -> Cache and Empty the cache
- Power down the iPad
- Power up the iPad
6, Open Safari and Log Back in to ChatGPT
This should work to fix the problem.

No VPN involved. I have used ChatGPT over NordVPN and work VPNs in the past. But today is Saturday, no work, and left home only once today. Did not have issues on my cell phone a few minutes ago. And I am not getting those unsolvable puzzles at home on my computer anymore, which is good.
You know, I do get it. API consumption is charged differently than the web interface, and you want to keep people from accessing the service in a manner beyond what is intended. But maybe that check would be better served by how frequently the web interface is hit. You have rate limits on the API, right? Why not a more aggressive limit on the web interface? Just enough to rule out machines.

I have business level fast internet for my home, there's nothing else using the internet, and still sometimes it won't load at all. the only solution i have found is to close the tab for a few minutes and try to load it again. has anyone experienced something like this so consistently? the android app loads fine every time.

But the Merlin app at least has a UI that was able to show me more information. and it named all the models and had an X next to each of them. Tried sending a screenshot link but I got a timeout lol

Gpt 4o is so horrobly bad that its almost unusable and gets a little wors everybday. When using voice chat it regularly completely changes what i said to something completely unrelated. Only temporary workaround is to use something like Microsoft SwiftKey, so that whatever you copy on your pc will get copied on your phone too (shared clipboard).
then you just copy from pc and paste in mobile app

I had the same problem but I managed to solve it in the following way:
Go to the settings part and do the following
- Delete all chats
- Personalization > Manage > Clear data from memory
- Security > Close all sessions
- Press CTRL + f5
And that worked for me, try it and let me know if it works for you too.

Hey Community 👋 I am working with a company on building them a customGPT. From what I can gather, once published to the GPT store, anyone with a free account can use it on the ChatGPT site via the link and we aren't charged as an organization. However, if I wanted to embed or otherwise integrate this custom GPT more directly into the website, the only way to do that presently is to leverage the API where I would be charged tokenization for every conversation, right? Has anyone come up with a secure free way to accomplish this?

What about an iframe to load ChatGPT within the website? It's weird that the customer can have unlimited conversations with the bot on ChatGPT but the moment we leave ChatGPT the meter starts running. I guess it makes sense. Just trying to find the happy medium between ux and costs
that's against the ToS, you cannot incorporate a GPT into a website, you need to create your own application using the Assistants API

However, when I start the conversation, I need to press a start button manually and at the end of my sentence press stop, the data goes to the assistant, who then responds back, and this goes on. I'm transferring data in chunks and using tts-1 and whisper for this.
I'm looking to make it a conversation-style assistant, where the model can detect the end of a conversation and respond. I believe 4o is capable of doing this.
Is this possible with Assistants and if so, how can I achieve this functionality?

Even though it's phrased as a question, selecting that might route you to a billing-specific contact form or chat where you can request your refund.
