I mean, I like the idea of DALL-E as an artistic tool is extremely valid, and if someone wants to pay someone else to make them art using DALL-E or a Pencil, that's fine. I think it's a little disingenuous to not declare that the image you're supplying to someone was made by an AI... Yes, not disclosing it is a little unethical. But I think any serious artist will have no problem declaring their tools/medium. But there may very well be scammers. I think it's especially problematic if someone says that the art explicitly isn't made by an AI, and says "I painted this by hand, it's not made by an AI" that's just plain fraud. I think?

If their goal is to make a quick buck... Maybe they will, but no serious artist, or anyone who cares about their career, would be silly enough to do this. But art fraud is just a thing in general. Then again, I totally see a sci-fi world of the future where it's just not even an issue. In The Art World, people are already very successful in using AI in their work. But they are open about their process, it's not shameful to be "an AI artist" imho.

Definitely not shameful to be "an AI artist", it takes some understanding on how to properly communicate with the AI of your choice. Heck even prompting is different for DALL-E and MJ. Hate to see people getting scammed by not disclosing the role of an AI for your work. If not addressed, AI art may be frowned upon in the future.

It depends in what circles you find yourself in. In general, the modern art world, AI is not a dirty world. But I have spoken to artists who have come under prejudice for using procedural generation in their work, too. But, they're not hiding it. I think it would be weird for someone who makes, for example, a 3D printed intricate generative sculpture using algorithms, and then wants to say "i did this all my self, i designed it all on pen and paper and then carved every piece by hand and then glued it all together, aren't I very tallented?", which is essentially the same as someone saying "I painted this" but it's just a straight DALL-E 2 image. But................... Then there's Dadaism. If the artist says it's art; it's art. But, I admit, that's two different things. Calling "something art" and saying "I made this object myself" are different things.

I got really into it after seeing it on gamepass for a while, and while the continual free updates are awesome, the game in itself it still a sandbox of sorts and is hard to come back to. What I am very excited for though is Starfield!

I got hard-stuck in a mission about 2 hours in

restarted, got past that, got stuck in a glitch again another hour or so later. At that point I just roamed around with a trainer creating chaos until I got bored and uninstalled.

The worst part about cyberpunk for me was how they skipped over literal years in the beginning. It made what followed feel less impactful. Got soft locked twice too.

I ended up finishing it and had fun, but just felt really empty tbh. Like the content just wasn't there.

It was getting real hard to force myself to come up with queries the past week or so. Now this discord is about to blow up I suspect (I've never seen this many boosters on) and I've never seen a "community volunteer" on, I imagine we'll start to see a rapid decline in performance as well.

I did archive the vast majority of my generations though, a fraction of which have already gone up in blog posts. I imagine I'll just save the rest for similar. Maybe keep my credits handy for future YT thumnbails

Eth should move to proof of stake soon which means no computing power will be needed (not using processors to validate the transaction), at the moment yes, more computing power is needed but less than few months ago after the update. There is a lot more focus on that topic rather than art. Art is a lot smaller group of people. And artists and collectors are usually the ones focusing on this. Security has been improving a lot over the years for sure but it still requires knowledge. And ofc, greed. Greed is the worst thing you see around these groups

Regulations are incoming, the US has them already on some basic level, EU just voted on the bill too, few more countries are doing it too. That helps a lot over security for sure. I'm good friends with multiple sculptors on my campus, as well as the ceramics instructor. Artists help artists out. If you're in an artist community, you 100% talk about prices, how much you're earning, and whether or not you're making a profit among other artists. You share tips with each other, you give creative input, you ask for critique, the whole gamut. The DALL-E 2 server has been first and foremost an artist community. Members of this community (not strangers - members of a community that you just barged into today), asked you perfectly reasonable questions about your business here in an open channel and you're dodging them like a tried and true MLM salesman. Dodgy behavior at best.

A better analogy for this situation would be, "A shady businessman broke into an art club and tried to devise shady moneymaking schemes amongst the club members, but when the members questioned his business there, the intruder got defensive and told them that it wasn't his responsibility to explain himself."
