Bing works off Codex

they're hogging all this bandwidth to make multiple calls to GPT to generate ads, which will then be a source of revenue. OpenAI should be charging them more if they are making so many calls, wasting all the bandwidth, and generating revenue in such an unethical fashion.

plus, OpenAI wouldn't even be able to track the calls that are made through Bing, because the ad-bots are probably not even a microsoft implementation. So it looks like a net increase in traffic / volume. Do note that this is a hypothesis.

n00b question: how can I use ChatGPT via the API in the same way I do in the browser? I've tried submitting the same prompts via the API to https://api.openai.com/v1/engines/code-davinci-001/completions . If I feed ChatGPT a piece of Groovy code and ask for suggestions in the web interface it works as expected, but if I do the same via the API, I get message': 'The model: code-davinci-001 does not exist',. I've tried it with some other models too & the response isn't as expected.

I dunno but if you want the same sort of thing as the chatgpt website, use the gpt 3.5 turbo model, with ‘messages’. The completions models don’t really work the same way afaik.

And you’ll have to put in some sort of ‘pass the most recent messages back in for context’ type thing. Otherwise it’s like everything you send is the first thing you send..

I know this is an on going issue but are there known ways to successfully make a payment for ChatGPT Plus? When it was originally released, I had no problem paying via a visa prepaid virtual card. However, now it won’t successfully process with the card. I’ve tried paying via Stripe Link, multiple physical credit cards, and Apple Pay. They all failed. I tried paying with a vpn enabled as well as in incognito. Both failed. Is there a solution? I’m located in the USA. Craft a very detailed policy, sign a DPA w/ OpenAI, use best industry practises, discourage users sharing any confidential information etc. It's a long list and something you have to very carefully consider especially when bound by GDPR.

A phone number cannot be tied to more than one account, you will need a different phone number for creating a new account
although, you can use your already existing account and just invite users to your organization and use the org features to manage the invited users

"Plus" reffers to the ChatGPT subscription which is a different service than the OpenAI API.

That would allow you to authorize other users to use the OpenAI's API but billed to your account instead of their own.

a good way to use the AI is to not have it to actually handle data, but isntead use it to "format" the data you have before showing it to the client

Well there are several ways of doing that. Either by using the OpenAI API and passing through your own parameters. Or train your own model which would take immense computing resources. If you want a convenient and easy solution use llama.cpp with a supported model and run it locally

from my perosnal experience, I get the best results by having the following order:

A system message describing the AI's perosnality
A system message containing information that the AI should know about
The chat history, with the Assistant and User messages
A very short system message describing how you want the next Assistant message to be generated. for exampe "a short answer", "a detailed description", "a step by step guide"
