How come ChatGPT is often factually incorrect? I mean memory recall should not be a problem for an AI engine? Then why does it concoct completely incorrect facts and present them. For example, I just asked it for recommendations for good recent books on my country (Pakistan). For its first recommendation it gave the name of a book and an author which have no existence in the world (The Fatality of Knowledge: A Political History of Pakistan by Saba Rahim). No author or scholar of this name was found to be working on political history of Pakistan, and no book of this, or any similar name exists.
