As Baugrems said, use bing. Bing uses a version of DALL·E under the hood, is typically seen as better and is fully free. Even if you run out of tokens (that replenish at uncertain but quick intervals), you can still generate for free, albeit lower speed.

I am actually interested why you think it's weird that software that costs billions of dollars to make costs money.

Still, to get free credits you can use the /daily command. Fill in your DALL·E email address when prompted for 4 free credits. They expire in 24h after asking. Each day a few hours after the new daily is posted you can get new credits.

Alternatively you can use the fully free experimental version of DALL·E via https://www.bing.com/images/create . This version is generally seen as better for most purposes.

It isn't as simple. The AI does not think in human terms at all. It has no idea how humans think, do or even that they exist. It is purely a model trained on billions of pictures. It isn't an AI at all actually, but a form of machine learning. Not sure what the exact training way is, but each picture has either one or multiple texts describing it, or simply a lot of keywords attached. From the text you fill in it'll reference all data it has gathered and make a picture from it. This is an incredibly simplified version, but 'what DALL·E understood' is not so simple as just putting out a neat line of text.

You're surely using Dall-E 2 as the first version of Dall-E wasn't public. Those who have access to the Dall-E 2 Experimental version were invited in. From what I understand they aren't accepting any new testers in.

But... The version that Bing uses is Experimental and is quite similiar. Dall-E 2 Experimental returns webp files and Bing jpg.

Not your openai account, unfortunately. You need to have an openai account that uses the DALL·E service before the 6th. So using chatGPT long before the 6th and then starting DALL·E on/after the 6th will not provide you free credits.

I don't use the API myself, but I thought it worked differently? It charges your credit card with every creation instead of using credits. So buying credits would be moot for using the API.

My guess then is that you have reached the limit for this credit card, preventing more purchases. Would need to verify though

DALL·E is not designed to understand words. It is approaching words in a picture the same way it would approach anything else. That means it'll transform and edit according to it's training data. That is why stop signs are ok. They are plenty and have easily identifiable marks. A street sign with the street name is different each time, so it'll make 'text' creatively.

Hello, do we have any idea when a new version of Dall-e will be released? Between Midjourney, which is perfect, and Stable Diffusion, which is much better than Dall-e with significant technical capabilities and a cost 10 times lower, the question seems important to me. This week we have completely withdrawn Dall-e image generations from our users and replaced them with SD 2.2 (3 to 4 times cheaper than Dall-e).
I've seen images of the future version of Dall-e (apparently), and we're waiting impatiently for it and/or for communication on the subject and possibly a drastic reduction in generation prices, which are currently out of line with the market.

Currently, there is Dall-E 2, which is accessible to everyone via the Labs website. Then, there's Dall-E 2.exp that is in closed Alpha on the Labs website. However, you can use Bing's Image Generation model that is built of off it through Bing's browser. Finally, there is a ChatGPT Plugin for some model/version of Dall-E (I don't know whether it's Dall-E 2.exp or something new entirely) that is also in closed Alpha. I prefer Dall-E 2 over all of them, though 😉

hi all, I'm new to DALL-E and I tried to use it but something is super wrong. I'm trying to generate some images but all the results actually includes the wording in the text image request description which doesn't make a lot of sense. It's almost like it takes my wording, it mixes up and ends up as unreadable text in the photo. Not quite sure what you're referring to here sorry, but DALL·E 2 does have some image to image capabilities. You can inpaint or outpaint to fill in empty areas of an image with a prompt, and you can upload an image to create variations of it. 🙂

Bing's model is built on Dall-E 2.exp that can't be accessed via the Labs website (it's in closed alpha). I recommend trying Bing's model first and see what you think of it. A lot of people prefer Bing's model over Dall-E 2 from what I've seen. However, nothing can beat Dall-E 2 outpainting and artist knowledge in my opinion 🙂

oh ok. I am sorry I should have clarified I was not talking about Dall-e 2. With the Bing Image Creator, it's powered by Dalle, but the restrictions are a bit different there. I think it consumes 1 coins there. I'm unsure if I have 100 coins per day that refill, or if it's 25 coins per day that refill up to a max of 100 was why I asking the question but I have should been more specific i was asking about the bing image creator.
Additionally the Bing Image Creator seems to allow you to generate images even after you expend your coins. It says it's longer wait times but I haven't noticed the wait times ever.

run out of Dalle credits? just use bing image creator. you get like... 25 to 100 uses a day at max speed. I have 100, but i'm not sure how much other people have. It increased at some point. I wasn't sure if it was because I was using it so much, or if they just increased the allotted utilization to all the users.

Hmm... I just used up my 100 and it says "30 sec wait" but it only takes about 18 seconds, same as before. I think if there IS a queue, i'm put into it.
