In the hopes that someone from OAI sees this. My complaints with Atlas (as a user that really wants to like it):

1 (seriously my biggest pet pieve): Default chat should be extremely search eager. I am using a web browser, I want web data. The amount of times I open a new tab, dump my question in and the model doesn't search and spits out some hallucinated BS is so annoying. A constant pressure to return to arc

2. Please please please implement the basic arc functionality:

• clean up tabs for me
• move the bookmarks into the vertical bar with a focus on compressed layout space and search instead

3. if i have an open tab to a url and i click the quick suggestion for that same url, open the tab don't start a new one to the same place

But seriously, number 1 is the most annoying thing. It literally makes me want to leave atlas multiple times per day. It makes it feel like atlas is in the way of my browser use. If I want pure chat I'll use the ChatGPT app on my mac

To be fair, Atlas really isn't that great. It's buggy and extensions don't work randomly. I haven't really found a use for the agentic features. GPT-5.2 really is too much of a buzzkill to be trusted with tasks

Is anyone else experiencing an issue where the voice dictation (microphone) in the input box doesn’t respond at all?

In my case:

The mic icon appears normally
When I speak, no waveform shows up at all
Nothing gets transcribed
No error message appears
I have already confirmed that microphone permissions are enabled both at the system level and for the app

Hi, I’m having a weird issue in ChatGPT Atlas. When I use Ctrl Tab to cycle through tabs, I see a previously visited site appearing in the internal tab switcher, but the tab isn’t visible in the tab bar, I can’t switch to it, and it doesn’t exist in any open window. Without a trained lora, deviations are possible, but other than that the most effective way is to carefully prompt to preserve the style of the reference image. Not all image generators are going to be capable of producing every style well. The GPT Image 1.5 Prompting Guide (https://developers.openai.com/cookbook/examples/multimodal/image-gen-1.5-prompting_guide) indicates that for edits use: "change only X" + "keep everything else the same". At least with Nano Banana, it's usually important to also specify specifically what is being kept the same.. one thing people sometimes recommend is to use a vision language (VL) model to describe the style (not subjects) of the image in detail and then use that output which describes the style, or use a more generic prompt like ...<prompt_for_image_elements>, while preserving the same style, edges, color palette, and composition as the previous image.

One of the most common problems that artists struggle with is consistent character generation, which is important for concept art, storyboarding, etc. There are similar techniques to try to do that, and AI is getting better at it over time, but again without a trained lora it becomes a lot like tossing a coin because the AI doesn't understand how to apply variations as intended. Mainstream AI providers don't yet allow training loras for things more consistent scenes or characters, though they are improving and sometimes even have the option to provide separate dedicate 'style reference' and 'character reference' inputs which work for the 80% case. Other places like openart (and alternatives) have that option if it's needed (just keep in mind that the models that those consistent character loras work with are not as capable as SOTA image models like GPT Image 1.5 in most other areas - generally loras only work with open models, or custom models trained by those providers, and generally aren't as mature as things like GPT Image 1.5 or Nano Banana in many other ways).

I’ve been using the image generation features for quite a while now. Both Sora and GPT can generate images.
In the past, GPT used repaint mode rather than pixel-editing mode. But now GPT uses pixel-editing mode, which makes it unable to do many simple tasks—like adding snow to an image, for example.
I was really happy when I found out that Sora still uses repaint mode.
However, you mentioned that Sora 1 will be discontinued soon, and there are only a few days left.
is there an API for image generation with repaint mode, or where else I can find this functionality?

I don't think it's coming. The ChatGPT app on windows is literally a vanilla electron wrapper around the web app. If they had any native app scaffolding in the works for Windows then they'd show signs in the Windows ChatGPT app.

Several choices they made with Atlas internals weren't choices you'd make if cross platform was your inevitable goal.

Plus windows is legacy OS and having an excellent an OpenAI ecosystem cannibalizes their biggest customer: Microsoft (copilot). And if microsoft can't make a good experience with gpt in their own OS, I don't think OAI could either

Technically, they can... it's just a guardrail put on to avoid the AI accessing something that the site operator has clearly designated as something they don't want robots to access (i.e. legal protection). Legally, it's not lawful to access a site without permission, so an AI circumventing a security measure designed to try to protect against such activity could not hold up in court. So even though it's an ineffective technical measure nowadays, OpenAI still has to build guardrails so that their system doesn't do that. (Yes, I'm aware it's possible to prompt the AI more cleverly to solve captchas out of context of browsing, but that removes the constraint from the site, hence the legal case is actually allowed - since the AI is not directly accessing the site).

I'm a community member, and I don't know much about the different operating systems/hardware that support them, so any answer I gave would be a raw guess. We do know:

ChatGPT Atlas is launching worldwide on macOS today to Free, Plus, Pro, and Go users. Atlas is also available in beta for Business, and if enabled by their plan administrator, for Enterprise and Edu users. Experiences for Windows, iOS, and Android are coming soon.

That's from https://openai.com/index/introducing-chatgpt-atlas/ and is not currently discussed in the helpfiles; the first we might learn more about that is when they release it, if they do - until it's accessible to us, plans could change - but we know the intention exists. Maybe not for compatibility with PlayStation though, I don't see anything about that.

Atlas dont have even the send feedback , send bug report option when using chatgpt from atlas standard tabs . The tabs dont have same behavior than accesing chatgpt via the browser,unbelieavable.

One Atlas UX issue I keep running into is that several different context systems look similar from the user side, but behave very differently internally.

Right now it can be difficult to distinguish between:

• Atlas side chat / active-page context
• Web Search
• Direct URL retrieval
• chatgpt.com opened inside Atlas
• Project context/files
• Memories/history
• Connector or browser-based context

This creates confusing situations such as:

• Web Search OFF while Atlas side chat still reads the active page.
• Web Search ON while direct URL retrieval still fails.
• chatgpt.com opened inside Atlas behaving differently from Atlas side chat, even though visually they feel very similar.
• Users assuming “Search ON” means every URL can be fetched.
• Users assuming “Search OFF” means no webpage context is being used.

I think Atlas would benefit from clearer UI/context indicators showing why the model can access something and which context pipeline is currently active for the response.

For example:

• Using active-page context
• Using web search
• Using direct URL retrieval
• Using project files
• Using memories/history
• Using connectors/browser context
• Using normal chatgpt.com web-app mode

Even a small visible context/source badge could reduce a lot of confusion and make Atlas behavior feel more predictable.

Atlas still has the edge for ease of access to question things on the current page. For agent mode I moved to codex since a few weeks already, agent-browser or integrated browser … but now even my use cases with captcha (or other stupid bot protection) work now in chrome.

Having the chat right next to the window in Atlas makes it a lot easier to use, IMHO, than juggling two windows and ensuring you don't mess with the app being controlled. I use Codex + Chrome extension because it enables easier agent use in my development environment (Codex and VS Code + Codex extension).

I'm not sure, because it does handle 1 very significant problem: websites that block known-ip addresses from OpenAI By using the user's IP address and browser; and partially solves the website's request for "no-bots" ethics problem depending on how you interpret it (bots are supposed to respect the robots.txt file, of course you could always spoof the user-agent, but that's generally frowned upon when done by a legitimate company).

Like goodluck getting an LLM to shop on amazon for you. to get normal tool/mcp access you have to violate amazon's terms of service with a MCP server you host yourself, BUT if you use atlas and agent mode it will browse amazon no problem, it's super inefficient but it works.

I think OpenAI's devoted more resources to make codex work well with Chrome or another more lightweight chromium browser than to making Atlas work. It's become easier to just have the two apps open. Ask codex to look at or do things in your browser when it's applicable.

A lot of alpha in a model that has direct access to your local computer as well as your browser stuff anyway. Codex + markdown offers a real alternative to browser-focused bookmarking tools in particular
