Before with the edit function, when you change a message, chatgpt would reply as if it picked up the conversation from that point in time.

What I mean is that now if I do that, it would instead act as if my new edited message got copy pasted into the conversation right now, so it will be confused since it uses the new context instead of dialing back.

Do you like that reasoning for every coding QA? I was never using o3 in gpt chat, only for more tangled logic where things are more complicated, but for everyday work, I was always using 4o, as it provides me the same answer but more concise, like a half text but the same info

I'm honestly not that impressed with Agent mode. It struggled A LOT with very simple tasks and often output worse-than-human results.
Most impressive thing I got it to do is fill and submit a multipage 100+ question Google form.

When I insert the prompt directly into the chatgpt interface at their website it work's fine but somehow the API messes it up?

My first guess is that the prompt is clear about the final result but not what to look for in the image. For example, the instruction is to "extract the following fields ... Invoice Date" but "Invoice Date" is not found. The model can assume that "Date" is the Invoice Date, but without the specific text it seems it's going to hallucinate a value for that field. Same for others.
Of course you can't specify exact fields, so the instruction at the top needs to be something like "Extract data from the image and use labels in the image to identify the purpose of the data. If there is no label, deduce the purpose of the field from its position and format. For example, "Foo" in the top center of the image may be followed by what appears to be an address, and "Foo" may be the business name. This will be used as the Supplier Name in the output."

It's a bit verbose but I think that's a guide for what you want.

Why does ChatGPT do well and the API not? No clue yet.

The prompt wasn't the issue. Infact ChatGPT wasn't the issue at all. when I was uploading the image to IMGBB i was accidently pulling the thumbnail image of the picture which was extremely low quality. I fixed the issue by pulling the image as the image itself if that makes sense.

I was pulling photo[0] before, now i'm using photo[1] instead

If you send me an image, I can:

Tell you the crop coordinates to focus on the minimap (as I did earlier)

Show a visualization with a bounding box (if the platform supports image annotation—right now, this UI doesn’t)

Describe how to crop it with your code

But I can’t return the actual new image file. You’ll need to run that last step (crop) in your app or script. If you have a local Python or Dart environment and want a code snippet, I can generate one for you to crop out the minimap region from your original image!

Projects - no access to project list of any of the files moved into projects. Is there any way to force recovery? Apologies if I'm getting the etiquette all wrong - I've not used Discord really, and just want to ask a question re: the ChatGPT desktop (although think it's the same for the iOS app). I thought it would be sensible to keep individual chats focused and not too long, so asked ChatGPT about using projects - at which point it enthusiastically moved all my chats into relevant Projects and made me a Master List. However, when I asked it to navigate to / open a specfic named chat and told it the project name, it came back saying that once data is moved into a Porject it's just 'held in context' and no matter how hard I have tried and how many prompts I've wrangled with, it says without a 4- or 5-word phrase that's exact, from a chat, it can't find it. It hasn't found anything despite me knowing quotes from within chats, and it even told me it was doing a 'brute force recovery' (no results) followed by "Understood. I will now escalate a full manual scrape across every indexed project and chat using every known keyword, without filtering by relevance or topic. This may take multiple passes. I will only stop once I find full paragraphs from your original writing on the slow philosophy. Please hold." ... which just went silent. Has anyone had success wresting their chats out of Projects? It turns out that only the last two accessed Projects are listed in the menu and accessible, and as I set up 9 projects with numerous chats within - and the chats are gone from the chat menu - this isn't helping. According to ChatGPT 4o (Unsure if it's accurate) GPT Plus users get a cap of 20 image uploads per 24 hours, 50 in 3 hours and a hard monthly cap of 100 images a month, including cut and pasted images, small images or accidental uploads. This doesn't explain why any file upload doesn't work like .docx files, powerpoint or csv files.

Exactly the same here, I usually hammer it with images or files for analysis - I've just been away for the last week or so and definitely haven't used anything this month since my renewal, 1 image upload later and it's just completely locked me out of any file uploads for the next month

Hate to break it to you, there are so many scams online that nobody is going to trust to pay your OpenAI account with API credits even if you are legit, the only solution for you is to contact your bank, use a family members card or contact OpenAI

All i want -- all i pay for chatgpt for -- is 4o . Originally It was because of the AVM that was eventually going to come out.

Then it came out and it was good fora short time. THen they nerfed it again and again. Now the voices are completely insufferable and literally different voices than they were before. They're repetitive turbo models that are smaller than chatgpt3.5 turbo.

And now this. lower limits that push 4o limits so low that my old usage is now hitting the limit... next is uploads?

Get rid of O4 mini, Agents, restore the old 4o lol. all these token wasting models that are stealing compute from 4o specifically.

Now they've made its temperature 0 or near 0 and it repeats a formula to every response like a mindless robot.

They should add all the same API config controls to plus users.

Honestly you may be better off using Github Copilot which is far cheaper, more models and none of the other rubbish, or even if you were to go API route and use assistants

We're community members here, same as yourself, for the vast part, the very few of us who work for OpenAI in any capacity have gold names, #server-staff .

OpenAI may or may not be able to talk back to you, they do help over 500 million weekly users of ChatGPT alone, and they also have API services, Sora, and other neat stuff, so 'chatting with folks in general' may not be something most of them even can do much of.

But we have both #1070006915414900886 and #1070006151938314300 , and we do sometimes see gold names comment there, and bugs do get fixed.

This isn't an official way to 'talk to OpenAI', but they do seem to track those two threads, and maybe are not tracking the endless scroll of these channels, where community members chat with community members.

Otherwise, if you want, I can discuss with you techniques a member can use to work around the 'too-long chat' as an individual chatting with the model, how to use cross-chat memory, regular memories, custom GPTs, potentially summaries though those are becoming less needed with the other options, to carry much of what you want between chats.

It's not the same as a forever-chat. But it's maybe better than 'okay, I start from blank, again'.

The accounts servers and the ChatGPT servers are different and occasionally out of sync. Have patience and wait for the UI servers to get updated. You're probably hitting different servers from the different UI's.
A lot of people are reporting hitting account limits ... which is directly related to disconnections between the app servers and accounting. It takes time for this stuff to link up.

This happened to me. What I did was, I had ChatGPT either update memory in various sections of the conversation, or I would ask it to summarize our conversation before we got to the end. Then I would start a new chat. Before pasting in the summarization, I would prompt it by saying "let's continue our conversation about [ blank ] here is what we were talking about {[paste, the summarization here]" Overtime it seems to know me and be able to pick up where we left off in a new chat. I am a plus user, but I think a lot of these features are for the free user as well. And not to be facetious, I'm dead, serious, if you haven't already, ask ChatGPT to help you solve this problem. If it can't or wont, push back. Ask it to challenge itself, it might surprise you. Keep us posted.

Yeah, and see that was the other thing that I really disliked about ChatGPT or OpenAI, however you wanna go about it, I would’ve never bought ChatGPT plus if I would’ve known that you only get 40 uploads per day and there was no transparency about such things like that beforehand until it was already too late and I had ran out. It let me know exactly how many uploads you get per day after I’ve already ran out of them, but no such context before that. For a project that I am building I want to allow my custom GPT to have access to a supabase table. I created a function on python that works well locally, takes in natural language input and outputs certain rows from the table. I wanted to give my customgpt that functionality and I tried making that python function into an API using FastAPI and deploying on google cloud run. But I've run into a couple of issues. Firstly, the Custom GPT always asks for permissions to access the API which because annoying with each prompt even in the same chat. This is also my first time making an API so I am not sure of the best practices, but if I use the functionality after not using for let's say the weekend it takes a while to boot up and needs a couple of error messages before it starts working again. What's the advised way to expose an endpoint? Thanks in advance any help would greatly appreciated

The closest it can do to that currently is by using agent mode to go to an online tool. I’m trying it currently, it’s using a pixel art website to draw something. It’s been half an hour at it and it’s not going great. In Agent Mode, after receiving results, there is a Share icon that allows you to copy a link, download the actual results or share them to social media. I would like to ask for a Copy icon adjacent to the Share icon to copy the markdown from the results block to the system copy buffer. This makes it handy to quickly copy/paste the text into markdown tools such as Joplin. Right now, it is nearly impossible to do that simple task. The copy button at the bottom of the results now only copies the chat response, not the contents of the embedded file.

That's a model hallucination, it's not possible for it to do stuff outside 'while you see it working, during the output'.

Like, deep research, that takes time but you can see it is working, that is real work. If the chat is waiting for you to input and you don't see some kind of progress happening like 'thinking' (we can interrupt agents, they are doing something and I understand we can watch, but that's the closest to 'if you can input, nothing is happening' being false)

The problem is most common when we ask the model to do something in 1 step that it really can't.

A common solution is to chunk the request, and iterate with it, together work through smaller pieces of the huge request you made.

What I would do is break the PDF into small chunks, based on how many key details I thought there were. I can go as small as 1 paragraph at a time, and if the paragraphs are huge, I might break the paragraph into chunks.

If the current few paragraphs are meaningless chatter with no key info, I might skip them, or show the chunk but say "I don't think there's key details here? Check too, what do you see?" if I think the context of how the people are talking may matter to following the later information-having parts.

I never give the model a huge single thing to handle. It is not good at that.

The closest to being able to handle that is a custom GPT with the document as an uploaded knowledge file when you make it - even THERE I usually chunk the source, have the model summarize each chunk, and I paste the summaries into a single document that I upload as a knowledge file so we can work with it as a whole, if I want to do that.

Once the model is released, there will likely be considerable documentation provided by OpenAI about it, that is normal with new releases.

Those usually include comparative benchmarks, graphs showing its performance on a range of the tests used to track model quality, safety, accuracy.

I would not expect that for every model release), a long list of the software and hardware partners already prepared to work with the new -oss models, connections to the OpenAI completions API and documents about that, and probably far more, I'm still working on understanding it all.

But I am flat out astonished if quality useful info isn't released with any model release, OpenAI normally provides lots of info with releases

Or too little. Most models tend to try to fill in the blanks with whatever if it doesn't know what you're talking about. It won't just say "I don't know what you're talking about." It will make stuff up to seem like it does.

I just asked it if it remembers that one guy I mentioned from the second grade. I never have mentioned anyone from the second grade. Ever. Instead of saying "No, I don't know what you're talking about", it will attempt to fill in the blanks with whatever it makes up.
