the majority of the time, yes, even when using gpt models combined with web search. it will list web sources too but of course... not every web search result gives the right information. chagpt/perplexity still produce inaccurate answers.

Normally when I start a convo in browser, I expect to be able to bring up and continue that conversation on the app. Send a message on desktop, the app should refresh to reflect the changes.

Is it me or does chatgpt 4o and projects are stupid? I uploaded files that list categories, subcategories, and templates to use when responding. I provided detailed instructions on how I what it to reference the files and how I want the output to be. The gpt completely ignores the files and instructions and I have to re-tell it in the chat what I saved in the project. I have to reupload the files, re-paste the instructions... and then it still gets it wrong. I spend more time trying to get it to do what it's programmed to do, than using the project. And if I start a new conversation with the project, I have to start all over again.

I completely agree with you. As I mentioned in my earlier comments, I gave them a try, hoping they’d be as effective as custom GPTs, but they turned out to be a rushed, half-baked holiday release. Even ChatGPT will admit they’re less effective.

It's a tool, but you are the writer. There is a lot of different software you can use to organize. I personally use Scrivner and go to chat when I'd like help critiquing a scene or fleshing out an idea.

I know this 🙂 it was just i was using mini, and was working on step by step with it for plot outlines, and it was ignoring work we had already wrote for the outline 🙂

throwing stuff in that wasn't concise with established stuff in the outline already

I use it to write my outlines, work on story arcs and such

I do the actual writing, I just have it help me when i'm blocked, or trying to figure out how i can work arcs in at certain places etc etc 🙂

One of the things i'm doing, is i've had problems with X in my writing, so i specifically write instructions to focus on learning to make that better, so after i've wrote like 5 or 6 paragrahs, i'll go in an edit window with it, and hit the suggestion button, it will offer suggestions of how it could be better, but not actually write it, unless i click apply, instead i write it myself

it basically works side by side with me, but isn't writing 🙂

The problem, that I was referencing is, how can it offer advice if it doesn't know what the plot is, what it's been, or where it's going 🙂

Like on my end I have maps for locations, a character spreedsheet with all their attributes/looks/personality/ages, plot outlines etc etc

The canvas is so broken. I input text with o1 (custom instructions from a GPT I made.) and ask it to put it in the canvas. It does and then I ask it to make suggestions on how to improve it. I makes suggestions and errors every time I ask it to apply the suggestion. It's been this way since it was released.

Please fix the Canvas. Why does it keep doing this? It's pretty much useless for editing simple text. I don't get it.

Can't even close the suggestions anymore either. Don't give me the "make another chat" excuse. It should work and not error out.
