Hey, I looked around but couldn't find an answer, but maybe it got answered already.

When I enter a prompt in ChatGPT the prompt disappears and nothing happens. Also these "random action" buttons show no reaction.

I cleared my cache already and logged completely fresh in. Disabled all my extensions in chrome and tried another browser. No dice.

Anyone knows if that is a me issue or a openai issue and can maybe tell me how to fix it?

Ada, Advanced data analysis, is the one at least sometimes saying April 2023.

That doesn't mean it knows much, or anything, about stuff after Jan 2022 - that's the most recent announced increase for GPT-4.

And even the Default GPT-4 model sometimes says stuff about Sept 2021 being its knowledge cut off date, and sometimes contradicts itself about stuff that happened between Sept 21 and Jan 22.

You can have your friend ask about deaths that happened in 2022. I suspect his April 2023 claiming model doesn't know about human deaths in 2022 or 2023 (something hard to predict).

It might say some of the correct 2022 olympics medal winners, because it was known by Jan 2022 who was competing, and who the likely winners were - but it is guessing and wrong about some.

But my guesses are that the model takes a look at it with Vision, and creates a text description that is then very 'fragile' and easily written over as you discuss other things.

So when I want the model to 'take another look' or answer more questions about the image, I just upload it again with my question/instruction.

I just tell it what I want in a new chat using 4.0 and it starts typing really fast with dumb outputs then I refresh my page and I look at it from the old chat and it says 3.5 . then the chatgpt 4.0 is locked and when I click on it , it says that I have an active subscription but its LOCKED I refresh the page multiple times and It gets unlocked again but when I ask chatgpt 4.0 to do something it switches up to 3.5 and repeats the cycle again

it sounds like you may have some sort of problem with your account being recognized, a browser extension or VPN might be interfering, even if only in a 'start and stop' way.

These tips might help you:

• Many people mentioned that removing their MaxAI extension fixed their problem, other extensions might be worth disabling to check.

I suspect there could be concern in the model about what direction to take the prompt, so the context of the rest of the story should make the context and direction clear and non-concerning.

So I fixed it I think, I just asked it to make its own scene with the previous prompts, it gave that message, and then said it could write because the topic of age regression, and the I asked it to write a different topic, and that’s working, for now

Well, to help ensure all is as it must be, please look over https://openai.com/policies/usage-policies if you haven't yet. Be sure you stay entirely inside of allowed content to protect your access to the AI. If you're doing so, I'm very surprised that the AI is so hesitant to comply.

But, given that all is as it should be, I'd give more context.

Tell it what the dads and other coaches are saying, describe the weather, mention some later plans. Guide to write successfully so it's clear that the focus is all on appropriate things.

Hmm well at least you figured that out! As for what could be causing it on your laptop, it's hard to say. It could be a VPN. It could be the Web Protection feature of a VPN. It could be a browser extension. It could be a firewall, antivirus, or DNS settings. It also could be something that fixes itself over time without you having to do anything!

Hi guys, i have been passionatly using chat gpt 4 the last couple of weeks for a world building hobby project, but i have just encountered a really annoying error that has halted me. I have no clue how to fix it and dont really know where to turn, so i thought id try to join the discord and ask for help here.

I have this very long conversation with gpt going where i am having gpt help me write about a world we are writing together that i am going to use for my Pathfinder 2e RPG campaign.

I have been working on making a map of said world and i wanted to show it to GPT, but when i did GPT keeps saying: "Hmm.... Something seems to have gone wrong." There is no way for me to cancel the image i sent, or go around this in anyway. I can start a NEW conversation with GPT, but then i would lose the conversation i have been building up across the last two weeks. I really dont want to do that unless that is the only solution.

Anyone has any insight they could please share on this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

This is something some people report in very long chats like you've described. For what it's worth, if you've been sending regular messages to it for two weeks, it's likely forgotten some of the older context already due to the limited context window.

Perhaps you could just copy/paste the major elements of the chat that's no longer working into a new chat to get the most important stuff into the new context? Also, do you use custom instructions? You can store certain "permanent" info in there to help with long-term context

I had that issue myself and it usually means an update is being pushed and logging out and back in again fixed it. Or, do what I did and wait it out and let it expire. When I did that, around the same time as the GPT-4 API access was releasing, I got grandfathered into having GPT-4 access inside of ChatGPT without having Plus. It shows as Alpha access but you may need a developer account too, not sure.

There's no need to delete old chats because it's not related.
The problem is if you start pasting long messages apparently (e.g. a long code blocks); you need to write messages not so long, or it risks to lose memory instantly.
After a while the conversation chat is going, at the first symptoms of losing memory you will need to start a new chat

All right same as me. Since it's working for you on the same account on different devices, let's try some network troubleshooting on your Android device.

Do you have a VPN installed? If so, can you try disabling it? Also if so, can you try disabling specifically its "Web Protection" feature, separately from the VPN itself?

Otherwise, can you try switching between WiFi and your phone network, closing the app in between, to see if that makes a difference?

Do you happen to know if you've adjusted the DNS settings on the Android device? Perhaps manually, or perhaps by using some adblocker app?

If you notice, when you ask GPT to generate a larger body of text given some requirements / an idea, it tends to recurse on ideas. This is because those tokens influence semantically similar tokens to be generated next. So you get this "differently told" loop of the same idea. If you have spontaneity in writing along with more unique vocabulary as you said, you'll have a much lower percentage score.

Hello. I am very confused with the knowledge cutoff of chat GPT. Recently, I had a small conversation with it and I asked who won the World Cup 2022. It answered that it didn't know because it's knowledge cutoff was in april 2023... I pointed out that since its knowledge cutoff was in 2023, it should have known who won the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.... and surprisingly it admitted that I was right, and then it correctly replied that Argentina won that tournament. That's very bizarre. I don't know what to think about that.

Yes the toggle has been gone for a bit now, it is supposed to be automatically enabled for everyone. It disappearing on web seems to be a bug. I think there's a post or two in #1070006915414900886 on this, you could go add your voice to that! OpenAI staff do check them sometimes

The Browse feature has been disappearing on web for some users the last two days. Hopefully just a temporary glitch. In the meantime, your dad should be able to start a Browse chat in the iOS/Android app for ChatGPT, and then continue it from the browser. If that's an option for him.

On google chrome, on my windows 11 I cant use Chatgpt. The website loads but everytime I send a message it says Something went wrong. If this issue persists, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com.

ChatGPT working on Firefox but not in Chrome has been a pretty common report lately. Not sure what causes it, but it's something with the differences between Chromium and non-Chromium browsers (Edge, Opera, etc. also seem to be affected). Hopefully it's just a network config thing that will resolve itself sooner rather than later. In the meantime, glad it works on Firefox.

You can still try a couple things though if you still want to try to get it working in Chrome. If you have a VPN, you could try disabling it. Also if you have a VPN, you can try disabling separately its "Web Protection" feature, separately from disabling the VPN itself. Finally, you can try disabling any Chrome extensions you might have that might be affecting ChatGPT, and/or try logging in in a private Chrome window. Or maybe even try clearing cookies/cache!

Shoot, that's pretty much all the troubleshooting I can think of, unless you think you might have firewall/antivirus/DNS settings that could be interfering, but those are typically rarer. You might consider adding your experience to #1070006915414900886--there's similar reports in there I believe.

we will continue to execute this in a loop...

after an iteration or two of my instruction loop, it starts forgetting my previous instructions and will start to make up its own steps (hallucinations). I have to remind it of my previous instructions again. out of frustration, sometimes i just start a new chat with a fresh set of prompts.

my question: has the context window been lowered? after x amount of time, it starts forgetting my instructions, is this on purpose?

Openai only accept credit card. If you buy by the apps, it is the playstore that will reimburse openai. Playstore accept several type of payment. If you pay by app you will have same feature as desktop website
